It was a clean facility that is well maintained. They have so many courts, clean bathrooms with A/C, locker rooms, and showers. It is $4 for every 1/2 hour on the tennis court for 2 people. They do not offer any pickleball. read more

The courts are magnificent! The people that run the center are awesome! Highly recommend all of that, but the Area around there is very scary! I have been playing matches there for over 20 years, and It's always been a little bit of a scary neighborhood. But recently, I have seen homeless camps all around there. Even down the alley's! So everyone seems pretty worried about walking to their cars after the matches. read more

Very nice tennis center with lots of courts. Everyone working is very friendly and welcoming. Setting up a court reservation only took me around 30 seconds over the phone, so it's very easy to get a court. Having the opportunity to compete and coach at nearly all the Valley tennis clubs, this one is the foundation or granddaddy of Phoenix Tennis. As traditions and history goes, this public tennis center goes on and on. Get this, in the late 60s my dad took me to watch the most outstanding, punishing USA 15 year-old in tennis history. Competing where? Phoenix Tennis Center. This kid was throwing his body into massive hits with a tiny metal racquet. His shots were devastating, competing against and thrashing our cream of the crop SW adult players. Scary good. Later, as a top tour professional, he won more tournament titles than any other player. His record still stands. Jimmy Connors. Anyway, the Phoenix Tennis Center rocked back then, and still rocks today. Parking is a minor liability. My coaching is to never leave valuables in car. This includes garage door opener and any document with you home address. Additionally some time ago I participated in Matchpoint at Phoenix Tennis Center, finding the monthly tournaments highly competitive and entertaining. read more

Centrally located in Phoenix Proper. This facility is easy to get to from Hwy 17 off of Bethany Home and is close to a hospital, just in case you have a 'thumper' while working on your strokes!----lol It has 22 Lighted Courts, Locker Room Facilities, Tennis Shop, Tennis Professionals (for Hire), and Hitting Backboards. To rent a court day or night, the costs are very reasonable...I use the backboards for free a lot to work out. The courts are in good shape and well kept up, but I give it four stars because the Backboard Area is in need of resurfacing and repair. They have stringing for your racket (on site), and provide private tennis lessons for a fee. There are Tournaments there frequently, and so for you venturing types, you might be able to connect in a little competition! read more

A little too pricey in my opinion and the employee wasn't too friendly. I came here this past weekend for a singles match and I paid $8. Usually tennis centers only charge $4 per court! I really like playing tennis ! I started playing again three years ago and spend most my time at Gold Key and Phoenix Tennis Center! I am very fond of the new courts, the updated lighting, the amazing staff and the reasonable costs. Courts are always well taken care of, and the center is filled with socials and drop in opportunities. All levels are welcome here. There are very high level player tournaments and beginners are welcome at lessons and socials. Special shout out to Matt and his attentiveness to the leagues. Good: 22 courts, backboards, big pro shop, cold beverages, ice cream, nice clean bathrooms, nice people work there. Bad: Pro shop seems to only carry women's clothes and old old school mens cloths, the lights are the second worse in the valley (after Indian School Park) I have never paid for courts because I play on a league so I dont know about the rates. Great tennis options! The courts are fairly new, and the lighting availble allows you to play at all hours of the night. The team shop staff are very knowledgeable and take the time explaining different items for sale. The peacefulness and quiteness when playing, and the different choices of courts make this a great break from a normal workout. I've had poor experiences with the front desk workers. My first time going here I tried to make a court reservation two days in advance and the lady who answered the phone condescendingly told me they only take reservations 24hrs in advance and she wouldn't even tell me what courts were available. Another time I tried asking another worker at the front desk to explain to me what type of programs the place offered and he just brushed me off and pointed to some pamphlets. Not helpful at all. The courts/lighting are adequate but i'd rather go to other tennis centers that have better customer service. read more

This place has been the usual stomping grounds for my friends over the past year and a place where I've run into colleagues and patients. My experience with most of the staff has been mostly pleasant, with the exception of an employee by the name of Carter. We had requested to stay on the courts for an extended period of time and had to ask for lights to be turned on our court after playing several points after sunset in hopes that he would automatically turn them on for all reservations that evening. After we had finished, we were rounded up by Carter like dogs to pay for our extended time. Despite not having lights for most of our reservation, we still ended up paying for the entire time. This facility has grown and changed a lot over the past years, but the frugality with lighting courts and disrespect from this employee can be forgiven but not forgotten. read more

Be prepared to be distracted by all the coaches yelling at their students at the top of their lungs. I don't understand why the coaches have to be so loud. Besides, all the coaching chatter, even when not yelling, is a distraction. Put all the coaching on the courts at the back, and let general users enjoy their tennis games. read more

Nice, newly redone, courts with great lights. Decent sized pro shop. The only down side is the neighborhood that surrounds it.

Good: Lots of courts (22), reasonable price. Many USTA leagues and tourneys are played out of here. The staff seems pretty nice. Negatives: The location is not great. The parking is limited and sometime you have to park out on the street. On several occasions, cars parked in the tennis center have been broken into and the areas immediately surrounding the center are not a safe place to be at night. The lighting is terrible and is simply not bright enough. Overall of all the major public tennis centers in the valley, I would rate this below average. Surprise and Scottsdale Ranch Park are almost like country clubs compared to PTC. read more

Located in what feels like the "hood" with gangbanger type cars going back and forth on the road to the east. Gates are locked, so if your ball goes over you're screwed. Courts have some of the most annoying backstops you've ever heard - if a serve goes long and makes it to the back fence/backstop... then BAM. Court lights are somewhat poor as well, with inconsistent visibility. Being on the center of 3 courts is best, but otherwise there are blind spots and lobbing has an undeserved advantage here at night. read more

I love the Phoentix Tennis center! Tons of great tennis... but a warning to those who play there... Please do NOT leave anything in your car. The area look sweet and nice, but there are some criminals around the neighborhood who can really reek havoc on your car and valuables( credit cards). Please use this facility, but take every thing in with you :) A lover of the game of tennis and a victim. read more

New courts are very nice...If you can reserve one. There are 2 reserve times, 11:30am to reserve the next day for morning play, 6:30pm to reserve for evening play the next day. Apparently they give preferential reservations to people they are friends with, or as they say, "long time PTC attendees", because when you call in to reserve a nice new court, guess what, they some how are all booked up even before the reservation times. I understand maybe 1 to 5 courts being taken for lessons or what have you, but every single new court. It's ridiculous. Especially in the evenings. I called in at 6:35pm to reserve for the next day in the evening at 7pm, and guess what, all 13 of the new courts were reserved already. So I had to settle for their crappy lighted older courts. That's BS, and I hope the city of Phoenix catches wind of this nonsense with the preferential reservation "good ole boy" system. read more
