It has been an enjoyable summer again at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center. They make signing…read moreup for swimming lessons for our girls so easy unlike the city we live in. I can get them in the same class at the same time as long as they are swimming at the same level. Our girls have been in the water their entire lives as we have a pool. Even so last year they didn't like being splashed or getting their faces wet. This year they are getting their faces wet and they have our little one swimming down to the bottom of the pool to pick up rings. The both are able to float on their backs for 30 seconds. They do a fabulous job here. This year their teachers are Mr. Kyle and Miss. Ella. and Miss. Liz. They had Miss. Ella last year and adore her. Mr. Kyle and Miss. Liz do a great job as well. They missed Mr. Cooper this year. Our girls are late bloomers as swimmers, but even if they swam like fish they would never be alone by a pool or unsupervised. Not being pros at their age does not concern me. They are amazing and doing great. Everyone has their special gifts. They are getting better every week. The recreation center will notify you if lessons are canceled due to weather. They don't do lessons if lightening is within 10 miles. They will call, email and post on their Facebook page if they need to cancel. The gal who runs the office is a sweetie. We definately will be back next year. I wear a lot of hats and I think it is a treat for them to have others to guide and teach them.

Some courts are visibly worn and could use a resurfacing, but for the most part, they are in good condition. The complex is placed close to a major thoroughfare, so there is some traffic noise on the east courts. As far as lessons are concerned, I'll give em 5 out of 5 as there are some very good USTA-ranked instructors employed here - an older Swedish gentleman is fantastic!

Ed and Brian and Nick are high quality people and do a great job managing the facilities. Absolutely come to cardio tennis. It's an hour of running and skills drills and awesome music and running and did I mention the awesome music? $3 beers or white claw in the bar after playing a couple sets is a welcome rest after the heat.

He comes home after lessons each day with excitement and new tips, tricks, and improved mechanics to his game that keeps him excited and engaged. He's getting more and more excited about the game of tennis and he's continually showing improvement. It's been a great investment in our son and we can't thank Gino enough!

There's lots of other activities spots too - baseball/softball fields, open fields for grass volleyball/football, basketball courts, playground, and walking paths. But I only care about the beach courts. The City of Scottsdale is routinely known for all the above with SRP courts- which is why they are always in high demand. #FirstWorldProblem There are 6 doubles courts with provided lines, lights, and ramadas with tables in the walkway between Courts 1&2 and Courts 3-6. Seriously, they know what they're doing here. A couple of years ago I called the Parks office to rent courts for my birthday volleyball tourney and the guy I spoke with indicated that they know they're good. If they aren't reserved, it's truly a toss up whether you can claim a court or not (even during summer). I only wish that other towns/cities could build as good courts in bulk much closer to me so the drive would be better, but a las.. I still end up at SRP weekly.
