Very unprofessional head nurses on the fourth floor. Hard to get proper medical treatment. Took until day four to be treated correctly and taken seriously. They allowed me to be in agony left untreated until the fourth day of my stay, not believing me that I had a very serious condition called trigeminal neuralgia, and had previously been hospitalized twice at a different hospital! My experience was VERY different from many described here. After an alert from my heart monitor, I received a temporary pacemaker at Pville Hospital, so I was able to wait for a couple drugs to clear my system. I was in the ICU the entire time and couldn't have received better treatment anywhere. The nursing staff was warm and caring. They stopped in regularly to see if I needed anything. They were not with me constantly, because I was not the only patient at the time. It is always good to have an advocate to help if you need it. However, it was unnecessary in my case. The doctors supplied a wealth of information, even more than my brain could remember! And when I asked questions, they explained again and even drew diagrams. The food was typical hospital fare, but I was not there for a gourmet experience. And if I didn't like what was on TV, I was free not to listen to it. read more

About 15 years ago, I had a shortness of breath walking across a parking lot, went to Phoenixville Hospital for a lung tests. Two doctors later came into my room to tell me I needed to see an oncologist soon. I did at U of P Hospital in Philly, where I had surgery, and treatment. In late last December, my husband called in the early evening from inpatient rehab, I couldn't make it to the phone with muscles that didn't work, thinking my time had come. Husband called for a welfare check on me. Police were banging on the front door of a locked-up house, but managed to go into back and crawl through a big doggie-door left by the prior owners. They and EMTs got me where I dragged myself to the living-room couch, put me in an ambulance, asked which hospital I wanted, I said the closest one. I was immediately seen in the P-ville ER by a doctor, I told him I was sick, he told me I had Covid, I told him I had the vaccines, he told me there are variants. Sigh. So, I spent four nights and three days in an isolation room , where masked-up and covered nurses and a doctor came in to see me. One was a male nurse who seemed short with me and unfriendly; I didn't like him. But when he saw how sick I was, he was pleasant and I softened too, and thanked him. Finally I got an IV filled with a Covid deterrent; took about 25 minutes, and that--and the care I received-- was what made me well. So, I can say that Phoenixville Hospital saved my life twice -- once with cancer, and again with Covid. I will be forever grateful. read more

Don't take your kid here...they will ALWAYS transfer them to CHOP. It took 8 hours of my child being in breathing duress for the ambulance to finally show up. 10 minutes after being at CHOP they were able to help. Drive to KOP, it's 10 mins further and something can actually be done. Waste of time. Sat for 8 hours and was given Tylenol. Was charged 4500 for their "time". 700 for the doctor. Still waiting on the ambulance charge, and they did nothing but put in a glorified transfer order. Seriously do not go here unless you want to extend your potential chance of dieing. read more

Staff are great, but Fox News playing in the CT waiting area (and as it turns out others) is just inappropriate. It wouldn't be appropriate to have other news either, but Fox has been established as a propaganda network and patients should not be subjected to obviously partisan broadcasting. Whoever is responsible for the TV's should have been walked out with the other upper tier staff. Do better and build a healthier environment. read more

You MUST have a family member or close friend to advocate for your loved one while they are in Phoenixville Hosptial. The ER doc was willing and ready to send my mom home after just running a Covid, flu and sepsis test, checking brain for internal bleeding with CT scan. My mother had blood pressure in the 190's, speaking about things that weren't happening and the doc was ready to just send her home. Needless to say, I had her admitted. Demanded an MRI, which showed she had a stroke within the last two weeks. Blood pressure remained all week close to 200!! One of the Neuro docs that came in, spoke so fast, and wouldn't answer my questions. He told me he has a lot of patients to see! An Angel of a nurse overheard him and immediately contacted another doctor to call me right away and answer questions I had. Can't stand that hospital- other than several wonderful nurses!! read more

My husband recently had hernia surgery with Dr. Vinca in the short procedure unit. Everything went smoothly, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and efficient. Harry, at the 3rd-floor surgery reception area, greets you like an old friend. Everything from beginning to end was stress-free. The communication was amazing. I received texts and a phone call with updates. The discharge nurse didn't make us feel rushed and was happy to answer our endless questions. Phoenixville is lucky to have this wonderful community hospital. They have really stepped up the level of care over the past few years. I hope that the community continues to support them. read more

Went to a clinic, was diagnosed with Covid and directed to go the Phoenixville Hospital ER. The experience was horrible. We waited (and waited) in a little room. After a while an employee popped his head in and announced without explanation that he was closing the door, which he did. Notable in the room was a sign posted prominently on the wall that announced that the facility had ZERO TOLERANCE for assaultive behavior, threatening language, and so on. After the experience in that place, I can understand why patients might be less than calm. There is much much more - they presribed a medication that interfered with my existing meds, they took blood, the blood letter spilled blood on my bedsheets and no one even commented on the bloody sheets, let alone change them. There is much more but enough, Just don't go to this place. They are incompetent. read more

I have never observed such miss treatment. I was mis inform about treatments and the next step upon my family member. Without my knowledge I am finding out that they went behind my back and sent my family member to a 1.9 rating hospital when I tried to get info I was told no comment. Signage is terrible. Tower this, tower that but no signage saying what is in any specific building. I made an appointment for lab work by phone at their lusted number. Asking for how to find lab, was told over and over they don't make appointments. Except they did. Actual service okay but using building was awful. read more

Thus far this hospital has been very hospitable. I like how they are very quiet, clean and the service nor is the food bad.

I really loved the staff here especially the sweet woman at the desk at the cardio cath lab. I got some sort of bad news and sort of fell to pieces and she comforted me. On the floor we had an excellent nurse named Chip. He was extremely knowledgeable and comforting. The food in the hospital being served to patients was top notch and the rooms are absolutely beautiful and so are the lobbies. You could also eat when you wanted, just call and order and the food gets delivered within 45 minutes. We were in Phoenixville Hospital for hmmm about 7 hours before being flown in a helicopter to University of PA and I see they are billing my insurance over 70, yes SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. I see what others are referring to when they're speaking about price gouging. 2 nights in Pottstown is coming in at slightly over 30 grand. 5 nights at the University of Pa so far is coming in at around 35 thousand. I don't know what the differential is in the price regarding Phoenixville. Maybe the helicopter?! As far as I know that is UOP's. The facility & the care was excellent, but the cafeteria was awful. The soup was soooo salty I couldn't even choke it down. All in all excellent care in a beautiful setting. read more

A complete joke of a hospital! I took my wife to Patient first yesterday who took X rays and diagnosed her with pneumonia in her right lung. They provided us with X rays on CD rom to take with us to to Phoenixville. Phoenixville never looked at these X rays or any of the paperwork that Patient First provided us. After visiting our family doctors this morning, they did confirm that she has pneumonia! How does this level of incompetency exist in our healthcare system?? I can't understand why there seem to be so many negative reviews of Phoenixville Hospital. My experience was quite different. On June 25, I was biking from Oaks to Collegeville on the Perkiomen Trail. I was with a friend and would be picking up some more riders to ultimately head to Schwenksville before turning around. In the area of Yerkes Rd and the bike path, another rider was coming down the trail. All of a sudden, he swerved right in front of me and we had a head-on collision. I was on the bottom of the pile with my bike on top of me along with the other rider and his bike. They tried helping me up but I couldn't support my weight and fell back down. I didn't know what was going on but knew it wasn't good and my ride was over. 911 was called and I was taken by ambulance to Phoenixville Hospital. I knew nothing about the place since I live in Delaware Co and the hospital is in Chester Co. In mere moments, I had a few doctors and other staff checking me out to determine the extent of my injuries. After a few x-rays, it was determined that I had fractured my hip. They got as much information from me as possible and soon I was put into a room where I was made comfortable. I didn't feel much pain since I guess I was in a bit of shock. The next morning, a surgeon, Dr. Ritterman paid me a visit. He explained exactly what the damage was and said the best course of action was to do a total hip replacement. Just to fix it with screws, wire, duct tape, or Gorilla glue would take forever to heal. He had an emergency to deal with so plans were made to do the surgery Saturday, Jun. 27. Bright and early on Saturday morning, I was taken to the OR and went nighty-night after the anesthesia took hold. I awoke about three hours later and was visited by Dr. Ritterman. He told me that the surgery was completely successful and went very well. Soon after, I was wheeled back to my room. That night, I was in serious pain but it was managed very well by the nursing staff. The following night, the pain was a lot less and Tylenol pretty much took care of it. On the third day, I was using a walker and moving around a bit. When I could walk fairly independently, I was discharged on Monday, the 29th. There are so many people I would personally like to thank for the care, compassion, and empathy the entire staff showed. They went above and beyond in the treatment I received! I was indeed very fortunate to have Dr. Scott Ritterman perform my surgery. He is talented, patient-oriented, and took a great deal of time explaining everything he'd be doing. The entire hospital staff spoke very highly of him when I asked about him prior to the hip replacement. If I could, I'd give Phoenixville Hospital 10 stars for the care I was given during a very low point in my life. I'm well on my way to a complete recovery thanks to the exceptional care, and staff at Phoenixville Hospital. If I ever go there again, I truly hope it's for something a little less serious! read more

I got to the ER at 1 pm. It took an hour for them to take me back to a room. Where I waited another 30 minutes to be seen by a doctor. It's now 5:20 and I am still here with no treatment. I am going to go to another hospital where I will be treated like a human being and not a fuckin number. Brenda the ER nurse was so great! Really nice, very informative, and super efficient and helpful. It took us like an hour to get a room but it's the ER in Covid times so that's expected. The ER doctor, KATIE CATALLO was THE RUDEST, MOST INCONSIDERATE, AND NARCISSISTIC PERSON IVE EVER MET. Absolute zero bedside manner. Super condescending and just such an ugly human being on a crazy power trip. Not helpful at all and so rude, like why are you so miserable that you want all the people around you miserable too? I went to the E.R. with pain in my chest. It turned out to be esophagitis which was good. However, I never saw a cardiologist. The doctor in charge of my care was a podiatrist! Seriously? I didn't get any pain medicine for about 7 hours although I repeatedly rated my pain at 8 out of ten. Nothing to drink, no IV fluids for approximately 8 hours. They were planning to keep me another night - I pointed out that it wasn't a good use of hospital resources and that they weren't doing anything that required a hospital stay - they agreed and discharged me. I give two stars because the RN Nurse and Radiological Technician where fantastic. Both provided the Emergency help and information we needed when I brought my wife to the ER with a broken arm. I give only 2 stars because that was the end of the care that was provided for this emergency. My wife never seen a Dr. just a Physicians Assistant, was given a ice bag (love to see that final cost) and told to "make an appointment with a Orthopedic Surgeon". I have given instructions to my wife that I am "NEVER" to be taken to this hospital under any circumstances. I live less than 1 mile from this hospital that is how bad they are. read more

For patient care I give the hospital 3 Stars. Although, other than frontline patient care by doctors and nurses, Phoenixville is a poorly run hospital. A year ago they charged me for services unrendered, and after calling them many many times to figure it out and dispute my chargers, they sent me to a collection agency. Again, after trying to prove that i did not receive the medical care i was charged for... which is a federal crime i was meet with NO help from . I reluctantly payed the debt collectors hoping that that was the last time i would ever have to deal with such a horrible hospital system again. About a year later i get a almost $900 dollar charge from the hospital for my one visit. I call again to figure out what happened and i get told by customer service that the hospital did a "office clean up" and found a bunch of bills that have not been sent to patients. I am livid because in the first place Phoenixville charged me for services unrendered and now hit me AGAIN with more an unexplainable hospital bill. Very poor customer service. they are rude and you get NO ANSWERS and NEVER follow up or call back. It truly makes me sick how that hospital is ran, especially customer service. Wasn't a fan. I had to go here for an follow-up ultrasound even though I'm delivering at Einstein because my PCP is affiliated to this hospital only and I needed a referral. The registration process is seriously inefficient. It takes 30-40 mins just to get your information into their computers. But the worst was the ultrasound experience. The tech seemed stressed and spent time just clinically taking pictures with the computer turned completely away from me. I asked several questions curious about the baby and she never once turned the monitor so I could see or pointed out what she was viewing. The baby was kicking a lot during the process so I asked her if she could see it. She just said no I'm not looking at the baby yet. My husband and 2 year old daughter were with me too so it would have been nice for her to at least show us something during the 30 mins she spent just clicking buttons on the computer. After she was done she told us that she needed to get the doctor to review and he would come in and talk to us about the results. We waited in the room for another 30 mins at least. My daughter was getting incredibly antsy and we were becoming annoyed. The tech then came back into the room and handed me my papers back saying we could go and our doctor would be in touch. Uh what???? Why did we just sit there for 30 mins????? I'm happy to have my dr give me the results; in fact, I'd prefer it but don't tell us to wait for 30 mins so the dr can discuss with us and then return with no explanation as to why that didn't happen!!! Completely different experience at Einstein. I hope I ever have to go to phoenixville again. read more

Avoid at all costs. They under-diagnosed my husband as having only a small tumor. They rushed us into treatment that day, so he wouldn't have to wait for another appointment. We were told he would have a MINOR incision. They did no further scans. When they opened him up, they found out he had cancer all throughout his abdomen. Who practices medicine that way in the day and age of scans. He had EXCELLENT medical coverage, so they could have done a proper diagnosis BEFORE making him endure an unnecessary surgery. When I questioned why they had cut him from top to bottom without doing another scan, they said "You have to be strong for him." When I asked for a second opinion before proceeding with chemo, I was told "you can have a second opinion after I treat him." He was going to die from cancer in any case, but their mis-handling of his case caused him to die even sooner--within a week and half of their botched diagnosis, operation and chemo. Perhaps it was a strange form of mercy. I have no recourse due to statute of limitations. The only thing I can do is share my story and hope no one else has to endure this. Their attitude toward me was "Her husband has cancer and now she's acting like a big baby about it." No compassion. They were more concerned that I was using the bed beside him during this ordeal than for any concern for my or his welfare. I am still suffering from PTSS and am unable to work. read more

For an issue that literally took less than one minute to fix (the total amount of interaction with a doctor/nurse was about two minutes- he barely said hi before adjusting Nursemaid's elbow ) and the doctor told us we can go home, we ended up waiting 2 1/2 hours in the room to be RELEASED. I took my 10 year old son to Phoenixville Hospital's Emergency Room for his head and neck injury. Everyone from the front desk person, nurses and doctor were very professional, helpful and caring. They were also very efficient. The ER Doctor listened to all of my concerns and explained everything to me thoroughly. I also felt that they were taking the COVID precautions very seriously and felt safe being there with my son. I would highly recommend Phoenixville Hospital's Emergency Room. read more

I was hesitant to go to Phoenixville Hospital after reading some of the reviews but I was scheduled for out patient surgery there due to insurance requirements. The experience was made as easy as possible with all the staff. From the registration to surgery prep to post operative care, all personnel were professional and caring. If my Family and myself could give less than 1 Star we would. A less than 2 star Hospital with 1 Star doctors that put their personal feelings and ego before the care of the patient. They even have a guy parades himself around as a doctor, we actually let this thing make life and death decisions on my Dad and later found out he was a doctor but a previous Fireman that went to some low rate medical school we never heard of. The 1 star doctor who thinks because u are 90 is not worth saving. I will not go into what they did to my poor Father because u will be reading soon about the abuse and beyond low level surgical and medical facilities. The only real medical brains were the Nurses, they are great but were put aside so the 1 star doctors and fake doctor could fan their egos. If they take u there crawl, run and do what ever to get to a real hospital. The end result My Dad died, thanks to their releasing a sick man, that the nurse told us should never be released in this condition but the 1 star doctor didn't like us being advocates for my Dad, she put her psycho first again!
