Having run along the river thousands of times, the chance to see the city and the Schuylkill Banks from the actual river was really great. Jason led our tour- which departed from Walnut Street along the Schuylkill Banks and took us up to the Fairmount Waterworks (and back). We were provided with really nice kayaks, life vests and fascinating tidbits from Jason as he pointed out various points of interest along the way. Jason was really professional and provided a very helpful overview of kayaking to our group (which was comprised of first time AND experienced kayakers). Whether you're a visitor or a local who has seen the river a million times, I definitely recommend experiencing a kayak tour of the Hidden River!

Although much more expensive than renting a kayak for an hour on a lake, this was an experience I would highly recommend. My one disappointment was it really wasn't a "tour". I was hoping for the guides to tell us some things about the river , but it was more of just them supervising the large group of us. We were on the water for about 2 hours, going all the way up to the waterworks restaurant. On the paddle back you will get to see one of the most unique views of the city. It is a bit of a workout for those who haven't experienced it before. Overall a great date idea if you are looking for something fun to do outdoors.

honestly wished i could write a more positive review but the entire experience was ruined even…read morebefore it started. my friends and i (a group of 11) booked paddleboarding/kayaking for Sunday from 3p-5p. We wanted to booked earlier 1/2p but there was a group that booked from 1p-3p so we had to postpone it a couple of hours back. the morning of i get a call from a guy named Nick who states that the group before ours had a "bus issue" and wanted to know if we were ok pushing our time back til 4p. I told them that it's not fair that our group is being penalized for another group's tardiness and that their rules & policies state that if a party is late, that they lose time. Nick said he's "trying to make both parties happy" but i told Nick that our party had plans afterwards and that we would not like our time to be pushed back. Nick states that it will "only be 15 minutes" that the group will be back by 3:15p and that we will be out in the water by 3:20/3:30. I requested compensation for the inconvenience to which Nick states that "there's not much that he can do". Nevertheless, the group still wanted to go so we still proceeded with the reservation. I, along with majority of our group, arrived still promptly at 3pm. We signed our waivers and waited until the group before us finished. The group was out there til way past 3:30pm. Nick came around this time to state that he can give us a "$10 discount" but we would need to have our physical credit cards with us to give us back the refund; unfortunately none of us had the physical card with us. At this moment, he also asked us if our entire group was here. 2 people were running not even 5 minutes late (as they were told we weren't going to start until 3:30 anyway). When Nick heard this, he said "oh you're group isn't even all here yet?" and then proceeded to walk away. Hello? I was still here (along with majority of our group) at 3pm, I still deserve the refund. I thought that was VERY rude. There was a girl employee next to him who we diverted our attention to since Nick walked away, and told her that we would still like to get started as it was now nearly 3:40pm. She helped us get set up with life jackets and paddleboard/kayaks- she was very sweet and helpful, nothing against her at all. The actual paddle boards were very worn down, not all of the paddle boards had bag straps so i made sure i had one that did as i had belongings that i did not want to leave behind. My paddleboard also made a lot of noise (unsure if there was a tear that was on the bottom of the board that was flapping around with each stroke). For $45+tax+tip, I could have bought my own inflatable paddleboard and went into the lake for free. The actual time spent in the lake was very nice, it was a beautiful day, very minimal currents, not too crowded. Besides this company there were other people who brought their own equipment so I'm guessing the lake is free for all so we really didn't need to go with this company and bring our own equipment (which I will probably do next time). There is a bunch of parking as it is in a park but only 1 porter potty nearby so it was better to change in the car. Overall, nice day out at the lake, really bad experience with Driftwood.

While we were there we learned that she also teaches paddle boarding in the warmer months. I signed up in the spot and loved every second of the lesson! It is intimidating at first, but Mesa helps you find your stride. We were out on the water for awhile and it was so peaceful. I would highly recommend getting in touch with Mesa for pottery lessons, paddle boarding and her eco clothing and jewelry. I bought some earrings and a sweatshirt that is so soft! I requested to call the manager to look at the camera to actually see that the equipment was not even working, then Zack replied and I requested to replace the equipment only he's like oh ok just send us an email and we will see what we can do. A small dock allows for kayaks and paddle boards to be put in the water, but the stairs down to the dock are not in good condition, so use caution There are several bike and hiking paths, but recent floods have closed some of the paths, so again, use care. It is interesting to see these canal Locks. So much commerce went up and down PA using canal's w/locks. To see one up close and personal, this is the spot to do it.
