This is not my first time here so I know for a fact their flavors is on the milder side. Personally I wouldn't come here for that reason alone but what can you do when choices in the Durham region is that bad. However they are consistence so you know what to expect.

The staff is either mediocre or rude, I've never had a real connection any of the times that I've been. You can see from the photo of the pho that the noodles aren't always cooked properly. They also use flat noodles if that is any importance to your pho experience. The broth is alright - I usually end up filling it with hoisin & hot sauce so it tastes more than water & oil. If you do come to this location, I recommend the fresh rolls over the fried rolls. The fillings of the fried rolls seem a little cheap because it is mainly veggies (bean sprouts) instead of some good tasting pork.

We ordered from here probably about 20 minutes before closing. They were very friendly on the phone and took our order no with problems. I'd say overall, it was a bit pricey for pretty standard Vietnamese food. We ordered the X-large house special pho and it really wasn't as big as we thought it would be. The pho was not piping hot, but I'll blame it on the fact that we ordered it for takeout. Spring rolls were good. Chicken dishes were good, but nothing that would have me running back.

My parents recommended this pho place to me. They told me that the soup is even better than the regular one that we always went to since my high school days. So I was eager to give it a try! I've ordered the rare beef pho. The soup was very flavourful and I did enjoy the rice noodle, it has a good texture and tasted fresh. The beef was soft and nice. I've ordered both the shrimp rice roll and the spring roll. I like the fried one, it has some taro in it and some peppery taste. It was very tasty. The rice paper shrimp roll was nothing. Give this a try!

Fresh rolls with shrimp and dipping sauce

My rating is 3.5 stars. It had been six months since I had visited Ajax. At one point, I was there at least once a month. I ended the drought last weekend. After spending some time at Old Navy and Best Buy, I drove over to where all the box stores are. I was hungry and noticed a new pho place. I didn't need to think twice. I parked and walked in to the restaurant for a late lunch. The place is clean, and the booths are comfy and modern. I got fresh shrimp rolls, and a large rare beef and beef brisket pho. I also got a coconut, non-diary bubble tea with tapioca. The shrimp rolls were yummy. The dipping sauce had peanuts, so I was in heaven. Everything was fresh and tasty. I normally don't do a large pho. I'mbglad that I did. I was hungry. The pho was good. You get a lot of meat! Normally, I don't get the brisket, because it's hit or miss. This one was decent. Not a ton of fat that makes me gag, but enough to keep the pho flavourful. The coconut bubble tea was yummy. I got it without dairy. I was a happy camper, except when I sucked down a tapioca ball too fast. It made me cough, but it wasn't serious. I'm glad that Ajax had a pho place. Staff are friendly, and speak both Vietnamese and Cantonese. I'd come back to try my usual -- rare beef and beef ball pho. (185)

    Hue Style Rice Noodle

If you've never had pho, this might be a good place to start but even then, I would never recommend any one come here to try pho for their first time for I'd fear they would never venture out to a "vietnamese" restaurant again. If you're an experienced authentic vietnamese restaurant goer, you'd say this is simply noodles in water. Hue style rice noodle soup was far from any hue style noodle I've ever had. The broth was that satay soup flavouring you'd get at an HK cafe, also not spicy as most hue style noodles are supposed to be. The only thing they got going for their hue style noodles is the vietnamese sausage. Also ordered a spring roll on the side. Not bad. The "fish sauce" it was served with seemed to be overly watered down. Just look at the colour... or lack of. Service was okay. Waitresses are friendly though quite absent.

Modern space with a fancy way to order your food (using an iPad). Unfortunately none of the dishes is that memorable. The crispy noodle dish was pretty good, but everything else is meh. Don't recommend, sorry :(

    Gooey satay beef pho! Beware!

Pho Mono is a spacious, clean restaurant that's located conveniently in a long stretch of Ajax outlet stores. Since it would be a shorter drive than to Pho Metro, we decided to give it a try, hoping that it would be good enough to be our go to Pho spot in Durham region. We each ordered an extra large house special Pho and a large satay beef Pho only because they don't offer a medium size. We had a good chuckle thinking about why a restaurant would have a small, large and an extra large sizes instead of just simply having a small, medium and large. Doesn't seem to make much sense to skip a medium and call it a large and their large, an extra large. Anyways, I digress. The noodles arrived fairly quickly and they were the broader and less chewy variety that I don't particularly enjoy. My husbands extra large house special pho had some meatballs (upon partaking later, they were overcooked and chewy) and some cooked rare beef (which were also pretty tough). Not the best cuts of meat were used and the meat portion was on a small side. The broth was the standard out of package msg stuff that tasted like most pho broth. My satay beef pho was the strangest version of the dish I had ever encountered at a pho restaurant. The soup was thick and gooey from the large chunks of beef that had been coated in corn starch before being wok fried and added to the soup. There was not enough satay sauce to really taste the satay but the gooey and goopy consistency of the broth was the most off putting thing about the noodle soup. Overall, the noodle soup didn't taste bad, just poorly executed. I'm not sure if we would go back to pho mono or just choose to do the extra 10 min drive up to Pho Metro. The jury is still out.

A couple of Wednesdays ago, after work, I had an early dinner at this Pho Anh Vu on Highway 7 in Vaughan, between Keele and Jane streets. I have passed by this eatery a number of times since it opened. It was time to check it out. This location used to be Veg Italiano. There used to be a pho place a few doors down. It is now a Turkish eatery. This small plaza does have some turnover. However, the Turkish place and this eatery have been here for at least a couple of years. I hope they remain. I got here at around 3:30 pm. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into a vacant one and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a male staffer. I got to sit wherever I wanted. I chose a booth by the window. I got menus to peruse. There were two other tables with customers. It was nice. Hot tea came to me with two cups. The hot tea was exceptionally piping hot. I used both cups to pour tea into them and let them cool. I was ready to order. It took a long time to get a server to come over. The woman at the counter noticed that I was ready and flagged the male server to take my order. I got these items: - Soda lemonade - Grilled chicken on vermicelli with spring rolls My soda lemonade came first. It was fizzy, cold, and refreshing. I loved it so much. I would get it again in a heartbeat. It also helped me down my food as I waited for my hot tea to cool down. When my tea was finally at a temperature that wouldn't scorch my tongue, it was fragrant and yummy. I loved the grilled chicken. It was flavourful and grilled to perfection. The vermicelli was generous and yummy. The spring rolls were stuffed and crispy. This dish came with dipping sauce that I ended up pouring on everything. I feel that I needed more of it. I paid at the counter with a debit card. I tapped and was good. This eatery got busy after 4 pm. My guess is that everyone came to watch the Canada-Switzerland FIFA game. It got tense in the place. Eventually, Canada lost this game. I used the washroom before I left. It was beautiful and clean. It's a decent location that serves good food. The tea was too hot. Service started off slow, but was a lot better once my order was place. I'd love to return to try more items off the menu. (280)

The meat tasted like curry and not like regular grilled meat .. it was also in a skewer format . The spring roll was weird, it's like a bunch of scrap ingredients were put into it forming the spring roll. The texture was soo strange - I've never ate anything like this !
