Tips: - This place takes debit and cash only. - The hot tea is scorching hot. A couple of Wednesdays ago, after work, I had an early dinner at this Pho Anh Vu on Highway 7 in Vaughan, between Keele and Jane streets. I have passed by this eatery a number of times since it opened. It was time to check it out. This location used to be Veg Italiano. There used to be a pho place a few doors down. It is now a Turkish eatery. This small plaza does have some turnover. However, the Turkish place and this eatery have been here for at least a couple of years. I hope they remain. I got here at around 3:30 pm. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into a vacant one and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a male staffer. I got to sit wherever I wanted. I chose a booth by the window. I got menus to peruse. There were two other tables with customers. It was nice. Hot tea came to me with two cups. The hot tea was exceptionally piping hot. I used both cups to pour tea into them and let them cool. I was ready to order. It took a long time to get a server to come over. The woman at the counter noticed that I was ready and flagged the male server to take my order. I got these items: - Soda lemonade - Grilled chicken on vermicelli with spring rolls My soda lemonade came first. It was fizzy, cold, and refreshing. I loved it so much. I would get it again in a heartbeat. It also helped me down my food as I waited for my hot tea to cool down. When my tea was finally at a temperature that wouldn't scorch my tongue, it was fragrant and yummy. I loved the grilled chicken. It was flavourful and grilled to perfection. The vermicelli was generous and yummy. The spring rolls were stuffed and crispy. This dish came with dipping sauce that I ended up pouring on everything. I feel that I needed more of it. I paid at the counter with a debit card. I tapped and was good. This eatery got busy after 4 pm. My guess is that everyone came to watch the Canada-Switzerland FIFA game. It got tense in the place. Eventually, Canada lost this game. I used the washroom before I left. It was beautiful and clean. It's a decent location that serves good food. The tea was too hot. Service started off slow, but was a lot better once my order was place. I'd love to return to try more items off the menu. (280) read more

Came here twice during my Toronto trip last month - and both times were overall solid experiences. Place was very clean and bright, however I find the tables a little tight, especially when you have large winter jackets to deal with. Service was relatively fast despite it being very busy. Team was friendly and knowledgeable. However, the second time i was there, my bun bo hue toke way longer to arrive, the table was halfway done there meals when my bowl finally arrived. A little bit of communication would have been nice, just got the "it's coming" the two times I asked about where it was, no timeline or anything. Spring rolls were kind of bland, no real flavour - however the crunchiness hits the spot. Bun bo hue when it arrives is truly amazing! The perfect amount of spice - makes you sweat a bit without killing you - you can still taste everything you're eating! I do prefer Toronto's Pho Anh Vu over the Vancouver location, somehow the Bun Bo Hue doesn't hit the same over here. read more

I've read great reviews on Pho Anh Vu so I decided to give it a try. The server was funny and entertaining which made our visit fun. The place is quite small and they get busy so expect some crowding. The food was delicious and had exceptional flavour and quality. My partner and I had the Bun Bo Hue (5/5) and the Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice (5/5). Bun Bo Hue was filled with meat and blood pudding. It was not as spicy as I had hoped it would be but the flavour profile was irresistibly good. Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice had ample portions of meat. They were tender and juicy. As I mentioned, the place gets busy and packed. We were a group of 8 and I tried to book a reservation a couple of days prior to our visit. To our disappointment, they did not accept reservations at all. The wait time was quite long since we were such a big group. This was quite hectic and stressful for the servers. This place gets really packed and busy so reservations are recommended (although I think they don't take reservations on certain days). We were a table for 8 and it is quite small in there so we still had to wait a bit, it gets pretty hectic. Food was good and portions are huge (one bowl is probably good for two people). Haven't tried all their dishes yet (I always go for the BBH) so would try different ones next time. read more

Came here with my husband after driving by it so many times. The interior is super cozy and welcoming. The service was quick and accurate. They were super nice. Food was like a premium version of the dishes we normally get. My husband got the pho special and he said they used premium brisket inside his pho. Delicious and hearty pho with quality ingredients Atmosphere: The restaurant is quite wide and fairly open with rows of tables across the centre and booths near the windows, giving an almost canteen atmosphere. This works great for a more casual dining experience with family or friends. Food: The flavours of the Thai mano salad were very nicely balanced, with umami from the fish sauce and a hint of spice as well that balances out the sweetness of the mango. The grilled shrimps also had a nice barbecue flavour, but were a little deceiving on the plate as they were halved to look like there was more protein than actually served. The beef rib pho came in two huge bowls, one with the bones and marrow, and the other with a couple of ribs and the pho. The broth was clear and had a nice beef flavour, and the pho was perfectly cooked. The bones didn't have too much meat but had a lot of cartilage and was great, just wished there was a hint of more pho in the bowl but is plenty to share for two people with an appetizer. We decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews. It was a cold and snowy night and we were first seated at one of the tables in the middle of the room. It was practically right next to a door that kept opening. However, Hubs saw a booth at a corner but it was taken over by a worker just sitting there. The waiter wanted to give that table to a group after us because they had kids but it turned out that they had a bigger party and we got it, instead. I thought that group was a little entitled. They knew that they were coming in with a large group but still wanted a smaller group so they can be warm and leave the rest of their large group at a large table. I'm glad that the waiter eventually gave us the table, instead. The restaurant is small and cozy, with white tables covering the center of the room and booths lining the leftmost side of the place. Triangular hats adorn the front wall while rattan pendant lamps hang from the ceiling and illuminate the restaurant. The windows on the side have pink flowers attached to the glass and the name of the restaurant can be seen on an archway in the back that leads to the kitchen. There is also an "Instagram wall" that has pink flowers over fake grass that has the name of the restaurant on it. We ordered the following: Appetizer #1 Goi Cuon Tom which is shrimp rolls. You get a choice of small or large and we chose small. We liked the spring rolls. They gave us carrot sauce in lieu of peanut sauce because our daughter got a peanut allergy. #59 - Bun Cha Ca Hai Phong which is Hai Phong style vermicelli noodles with fish. Hubs had never had this before and was glad that they have varieties. He liked that they used dill instead of the usual herbs at a Vietnamese restaurant. The fish cakes were flavorful and tasted healthy. He liked it. Pho beef noodle soup # 15 - which is special rice noodle soup with rare beef tenderloin, well done flank, tendon, beef ball and tripe. Daughter thought it was hot and tasty and said that it was food from the soul. She wanted Bun Rieu but they didn't have it. She wanted hot soup and this took care of her craving. I wasn't hungry and decided to share from Hubs and daughter's meals. I also ordered a sugar cane drink and that took a while to come out. I thought they forgot my drink and had to ask a couple of times. It was pretty sweet but daughter liked it. We got to the restaurant right before the dinner crowd came in. The place was almost empty when we got there but it filled up when we left with more people waiting for tables. Hubs thought it was weird when he went to pay the bill at the cash register. He paid a little above the bill and expected change back. Instead of giving him the change, the owner just threw it into the tip jar. He was going to tip them 20% but he was taken aback that the change amounted to 5% and that was enough for him. So, hubs left without tipping more. Tipping culture is a little weird in Canada. Service was pretty fast. Glad we got to try this place. read more

I visited Pho Anh Vu in Vaughan a few months back after seeing this name all over social media, but I found it didn't quite live up to the hype. While the broth of the Pho was indeed flavourful with a good amount of meat, the spring rolls didn't stand out much, as I have had much better, and the fresh rolls didn't seem very fresh. There was also something that looked like a fly (it may not have been one) that was rolled into the fresh roll hence why I deducted a star to two. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly, and the service was efficient. Note that you are required to go up to the counter to pay when you finish eating. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, and has a casual atmosphere. They also offer high chairs for the little ones, which is a nice touch for families. There's free parking out front, as the restuarent is part of a strip plaza. Overall, it was a decent experience, but it didn't meet my expectations based on the buzz social media had generated. read more

Great experience. We have been to the Richmond Hill location, which is bigger and a bit older and is starting to show its age. This location is newer and smaller. Located on Hwy 7 (on the south side) just west of Keele. As with most Pho Anh Vu's the entrance has pink blossoms surrounding the entrance. The menu here is smaller but covers all the basics. Interior is very pretty. Service was great! Each table has all the basics ie. chopsticks, spoons, sauces etc. Everything but napkins. I was about to ask for them but noticed an employee scanning the tables and next thing you know I had napkins (It's the little things that make the experience). Small pho is just under $17.00. Broth was deep and flavourful. I would definitely recommend a visit to this location if you are in the area. read more

Pho Anh Vu gives a very authentic vibe as soon as you enter. The restaurant is beautiful and the servers were very warm and friendly. We wanted to try the beef rib pho, but it was unfortunately sold out when we went. The Pho Dac Biet and BBH Dac Biet were extremely delicious! Their food is definitely more northern style, and the portions are super generous. The pho broth was clear and loaded with meats. The BBH was so flavourful, also had a lot of meats, and on the lighter side of spicy. Still def recommend trying out! read more

This place was so happening when we visited. The servers were bustling and hustling. One server in particular did an outstanding job socializing not just with his own tables but throughout the restaurant. You could hear laughter wherever he went. The food was good too. They came quickly after we ordered. The portion was awesome, and I had left over for the next day. I ordered the special rice noodle soup (15), and it came with a decent amount of meat. Went clubbing the night before and needed something soupy, warm, and familiar. Pho it is. Didn't know Pho anh vu opened another location around Vaughan area and my sisters were really hungry after a night of drinking and dancing. It was a Sunday afternoon and it was already busy when we got there. We waited about 15-20 minutes before we were seated. Place is the smallest location compared to other locations, but looks nice inside just like the other ones around the GTA, and the patrons dining were pretty much 99% Vietnamese, so you know it's legit. I got myself a bun bo hue this time around, and I have to say, I was not disappointed. I was disappointed in myself, thinking I could have devoured the whole thing, but portions were huge! Same consistency like their other locations, huge portions, and fast service. We also got their cha gio, and fish sauce chicken wings which were pretty spot on. read more

I've been to their other locations but this one was amazing! So glad they have one in Vaughan now. The restaurant is much smaller and more intimate but I liked how I was able to see the chef cooking! We always drive by this Vietnamese restaurant and it always catches our eye. The exterior is beautiful, and the interior is equally impressive. We arrived quite late, but the staff accommodated us and served us food. The customer service was great! We ordered their special rice pho. The broth was amazing and felt very homemade. The noodles were very bouncy and soaked up all the flavour. There were also a variety of meats. Overall, it was simply amazing. My partner ordered their vermicelli with lemongrass pork chop. The flavour of the pork chop and the fish sauce really elevated the dish. It had the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and the spring roll added a different texture. I love Pho Anh Vu--the food is extremely delicious, especially its grilled meat, fish sauce, and pho, which I'd consider the quintessential pillars of Vietnamese cuisine. I'd give it five stars, but then the restaurant is in a higher price range for phos than other Vietnamese restaurants, so it lost a star (17 plus tax for a small size regular pho--which would end up 20 dollars and plus). I actually knew about this place shortly after the pandemic was ending. The first time I went, I ordered take out and my family was so impressed with the food. Fast forward to today, this place is extremely popular. It is somewhat of a "hidden gem" considering it is located in an industrial like area. Depending on the day, it may be a long wait time, but there are tonnes of seats so I've never had to wait. I can say with confidence that this is the best pho place in Mississauga. Their broth is unparalleled (though there are some restaurants that are not too far behind). I always get the pork chop and broken rice. Lots of flavour and their side sauce tastes amazing. 2024-07-20. Pho Anh Vu. So I came here a couple of times now and I think I've tried enough of their menu to write about. Pho Anh Vu has several locations in Toronto and the GTA and the franchise is open for expansion. The Vaughan location is quite small, but they do have room in the center where they can put tables together to accommodate larger parties (up to 20 if you're willing to squeeze a little.) The menu is not as extensive as most other Pho places, but they do cover all the basics. Pho (soup), Bun (vermicelli), Com (rice). What got me to try Pho Anh Vu in the first place is their Beef Rib Pho (#22). It only comes in one size and is limited quantities. We were lucky enough to get it both times we were here. The good news is that this bowl of Pho is large enough for 2 people so the $23 that this comes with isn't doesn't sting too much. If you've ever read any of my other reviews on Pho restaurants, you'll know that Pho is all about the broth. Making a clear soup is much harder than most people know, and if you do know, you'll appreciate a good broth when you get one. The broth. The pho broth here is one of the best I've every had. Mind you, consistency is also important, and I can't really speak to that considering I've only been here a couple of times. My visits were about a month apart and yes, sadly, the soup did not taste the same both times. But what you need to realize is that consistency also depends on turnover. Like aging meat, there's a minimum, but really no maximum. The longer the soup cooks (i.e. the longer the turnover), the more prominent the flavors will be. The broth her a Pho Anh Vu gets full marks from me. Bun Bo Hue. This is their spicy pork soup broth and is often a specialty dish in Pho restaurants. This soup is from central Vietnam and is often made with pork hocks, lemongrass, fried tofu, and congealed pigs blood. Here they complement it with beef, sausage, and fish cake. The bun bo hue here is fairly decent. Not as spicy as it should be, but again, probably to cater to the local tastes. 4 stars. With all other Vietnamese dishes that are not soup based, it's all about the fish sauce. The fish sauce here is a little on the weak side in both the fish sauce and the citrus, most likely to cater to the locals (more watered down to tame the pungent aroma). The good news is that it's not overly sweetened. The nuoc cham is key to many of the non soupy dishes including appetizers and is just ok. 3 stars. Com. The rice dishes here are barely ok in my opinion. The seared meats do have that grilled flavor, but it' snot as prominent as other places. The meat is also more dry (overcooked). 2 stars. Bun. The vermicelli dishes here are decent and on par with most other Pho places. The vermicelli is the packaged type (but I prefer that anyways) and is well cooked (not overcooked, not al dente.) Unfortunately, the mediocre nuoc cham (fish sauce) and the grilled meats aren't enough to elevate or enhance this dish. 3 stars. Spring rolls (Cha Gio). I love my deep fried crispy foods and I'm a sucker for Cha Gio. More often than not, I'm disappointed with the filing and in some cases the wrap, and this time was no different. I'm glad they used the proper wrap here, and I was only mildly disappointed with the filling. What it was lacking in was the flavor, ground pork content, and vermicelli. The fatty pork is key as it releases a lot of flavor when it's cooked off. Once again, the on-par fish sauce didn't do much to enhance this dish. Rating this one is tough, I've had better, which would normally be 2 stars, but then again, I've had worse. Based on whether or not I'd order it again, I probably would if I'm craving it, so I'll give it 3 stars. Overall, Pho Anh Vu is a good spot for Pho and iced Vietnamese coffee. It's ok for the spring rolls (if you're really craving them - but be warned, they may not hit the spot), and Bun, but I wouldn't recommend the rice dishes (com). My favorite place for Com in GTA North is Pho Metro (on Rutherford). I'm going still giving Pho An Vu 4 stars overall because they're one of the few places that serve Beef Rib Pho and they do it quite well here. First time going to this location and came for a late lunch during the week. We were seated right away and the hostess was very friendly. I ordered the beef rib pho and they had to check to see if there were any left as there were limited quantities. There was one left. We also had the broken rice with chicken and pork. The beef rib pho was one size and there was a lot of noodles that came with it, however, the noodles were kind of sticking together which means that it was not freshly made but the taste was good and the broth was very good. The spring rolls are a total rip off $6 for one! And they're soo small!!! Don't order them! Not worth it!

This place is truly a hidden gem. It's the definition of an efficient well oiled machine. This restaurant is relatively quick with food being served and constantly packed yet you're never waiting too long. It is like everyone understands to eat as quick as possible and get out so that others can enjoy. Quick friendly service. The place is designed so that you can watch your pho being made by its chef. The interior decorating has a cool feel about it. The tables are set up close for you to eat whether you're eating beside strangers or not but it's spacious enough. Ordered the Gỏi cuốn fresh spring rolls with the pork and shrimp and it was accompanied by the tuong cham (peanut butter sauce). The fresh rolls were a decent size and as it is described very fresh tasting. They did skimp out on the meat filling. The peanut sauce wasn't bad, the texture was a little runny and loose but the taste of hoisin was very strong and I felt the only peanut butter taste were from the chunks of peanuts. The absolute star of the show was the Pho Dac Biet (Special Rice Noodle Soup) Ordered the large and it was huge. This soup was special one of my favourite Pho soups I have tried in a long time. The dish itself looked beautiful the basil and sprouts add ons were fresh looking and tasting. Inside there was tripe, sausage, beef, rare beef and they weren't tight about the amount of meat inside as a matter of fact I was shocked by the amount it had. The broth itself was rich and you could tell was truly beef broth. It was delicious and the broth was clear aswell . It was if The broth had little sparkles of diamonds everywhere because of the perfect fat content and collagen in this broth. The noodles were cooked al dente which is always something I pray for. They had bite to it and a nice springy bounce lol. There wasn't even too much salt. I swear it was like this bowl kept replenishing itself with noodles, meat and broth. It just never ended and I'm not complaining I'm truly grateful. This is a must try and a definite repeat. I even got a glass of cold tea which was so quenching. read more
