Pho 88 serves excellent peanut pho. The broth has a delicious, strong peanut flavour. The large portion size is quite big and the extra large is huge and still reasonably priced. The service is always extremely quick and there is usually no wait for seating. The ambiance is a casual sit-down restaurant. It is great for a quick meal or if you want to sit for longer and catch up with loved ones. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for quality pho at a great price!
Looking for a quick tasty and hardy meal? This is the place you want to come to, one of my favourite places to get pho they're always so quick with bringing out the food and the portion sizes are great.
We came here Saturday noon, and it was not busy. The setting is quite casual and decor is outdated. We ordered two types of phos and both of them were good. Also ordered mango smoothie and Vietnamese coffee, they were OK as well. Mango salad is a no for me, it's just mango and dressing is a way too sweet. Service wise is not that friendly, the staff were not that friendly, they seemed not that happy. If it's for a quick meal and not mind the unhappy staff , good place to have a pho.
I went with friends that've been eating here for years. The staff showed us to a table and said she'd be back to check our vaccination receipts. Interesting that they don't check first before seating customers. There were tables outside for those that are not comfortable eating indoors and I'm guessing for those that cannot show proof of vaccination. I ordered the wontons and there was a decent number of them. The broth was tasty and the wontons pretty filling. Overall, I thought it was okay but nothing special.
Went for a lunch patio a couple weeks back. This place is located in the same plaza as Foody Mart close to Warden and Steeles. There two other restaurants on either side that was also doing outdoor dining so it was pretty packed. They had more seating out in the parking lot area which is where my friend and I were seated. You order and pay inside the store and then they let you know where to sit. They only take cash and debit fyi. Literally seconds after we sat down, we were brought our bowl of noodles. I ordered the Rare Beef and Beef Balls Noodle Soup for around $11. Overall it was nothing special. The broth honestly lacked a lot of flavour, the beef came pretty much fully fully cooked and the noodles were eh. The beef balls were actually pretty solid though. The tea they served was actually really good too. Nothing will be spectacular and it isn't bad by any means but I probably would try some other pho places in the area. Good patio, very very fast service, meh taste.
Solid 3.5 Local pho restaurant that has been in the Bamburgh Plaza for years. Their prices were reasonable however due to inflation and COVID prices have slightly increased. Their portions are great and the service is fast and friendly I had had their usual Pho noodles with beef, but this time decided to try their Pho Satay beef which was nice with a bit of spice. On the side we ordered their Fresh Chicken Spring roll which was delicious served with fish sauce (thought peanut sauce would have been best)

The restaurant itself is big and has plenty of tables but it gets very busy especially during dinner. Tables can seat up to four but some are placed next to each other. There may be times when you are sitting close to a stranger. Utensils are self serve and they give you a menu sheet to write down what you want. I've been consistently ordering 119- Ve Don- Beef Brisket Pho and sometimes trying the Pho with BBQ chicken. For 119, I've never found a place that matches their type of cut and it is amazingly tender and juicy which is why this is still my favorite pho of all time. The BBQ chicken is cooked very well and delicious but I find the portion of the chicken to be quite small. It seems as if the size of the chicken remains the same despite upsizing the pho... The broth is extremely tasty and noodles are cooked perfectly. Sadly the price of everything went up and now the spring rolls are $4.75 for 2. I don't find the size of the spring rolls consistent but it is yummy. I wouldn't always get it because it is pretty pricey. However, it is also enough to share with one other person. Service is a hit or miss, but usually efficient. If you're looking for a quick bite, this is a great spot to come to!
Pretty decent pho in Markham area. We got a table for 7 and was quickly seated since it wasn't too busy but was left with only 2 menus between a bunch of us so we asked for more. They have ordering paper hung on the outside of each table making it convenient for them and for the customers. The pho special there only came in two sizes large and extra large. Since half of us could not finish a large to ourselves we decided to order 2 extra large bowls of special beef pho between two groups of 2's. We were given small bowls because I'm assuming a lot of people split for a better deal. Our food came out hot, I just wished more broth was given but we finished most of it so I'm not really complaining. The broth was pretty good and there was ample amounts of noodles and meats. I would come here again if I'm in the area and it's good for families and large groups as well.
They've adjusted to include some covid19 protocols such as wearing masks, moving tables further apart and having a patio in front of the restaurant. The pho broth and noodles hit the spot. The waitresses were also very friendly. Prices did go up so now the XL bowl of noodles is $12.
Service was friendly Surprisingly washroom was super clean which I loved but no mirror in washroom :( Food wise .. I likely won't come back. Ordered pho and bun ( rice vermicelli with pork / spring roll ). Sizing was smaller than usual.. not just by a little but by a lot as I noticed it right away . The bowl looked a small pho bowl size as opposed to medium or super larger pho bowl size I'm used to for bun ! I actually finished my bun and I never do . Not hungry afterwards but not completely full . Spring roll was super delicious. Pork was a tad dry . Fish sauce was just how I liked it The pho was disappointing . Overly salty and tasted like msg . My first time went to this pho restaurant and the price & taste is phenomenal. The restaurant is big, clean, and many tables, service is also super fast. One thing, they only take debit or cash. The pho here was so special, I ordered the special spicy beef noodle soup. The soup base was rich, it made with peanut & coconut, very different from what I had in the past. My friend ordered the vermicelli, it was average. Just one thing, the large size is just enough, the portion is a bit smaller than other pho restaurants. read more
Pho 88 to the rescue when hunger strikes. I decided to make a meal stop at the Pho 88 location at East Bamburgh Gardens to satiate my growling tummy. I was greeted by a smiling friendly man who opened the front door for me which was very pleasant. Within minutes I placed an order of a few menu items. #02 - Deep Fried Spring Rolls (2) -Cha gio - $7 #65 - Grilled Pork with Vermicelli - Bún thit nuong - $14.50 #426 - Large steamed rice flour rolls with ham -Banh cuon cha lua -$11.75 #345 - Grass Jelly and Milk -Suong Xao -$7 Overall the visit turned out to be very good. Service was fast and food was excellent. Crunchy tasty spring rolls had a great texture as soon as you take a bite into that crispy golden shell. If I had to choose only one menu item, I would choose the spring rolls. They are that good. Grilled Pork with Vermicelli was also bursting with flavours. Their grilled meat is always so delicious. For menu item number 426, the portion of meat was very generous inside the steamed rice flour rolls. I've had it at other restaurants and Pho 88 makes it different from others. Served with slices of ham, fried crispy garlic slices, slightly cooked bean sprouts and Vietnamese fish sauce dipping sauce, it was very good. I could've done without the Grass Jelly and Milk. Too bad that the ice had melted into water and it was more like watery cold milk, but it was an okay choice to wash it all down. Mission accomplished, Pho 88. read more

Bad service and they will add tips in the paper receipt themselves watch out. The most unhappy part of the experience is they keep staring at you, when I pay the bill, it's like they want you to pay more tips. Overall I think most restaurants tips is out of control read more

My experience resonate with some of the comments below. My rating is half star for the soup base and the other half for the speed. The service was really bad. While they haven't been rude to us, we saw how impolite the two ladies were treating other customers. The whole dinner experience involved a lot of pushing around, yelling, shouting.... It was 6ish on a Friday night. And this place got busy shortly after we ordered. We ordered a deep fried spring roll, one rare beef pho and one rare beef plus chicken pho. We were so excited to see the picture on the menu that rare beef comes on the side. But it was sooo bad when it arrived. Not only was the beef not on a separate dish (which I can live with), but also it was all clumped together. They didn't even bother to loosen up the slices of beef. And the beef had the faintest pink that I have ever seen in a rare beef pho, essentially it's well done. The spring roll was fair though I found it tastes more like a potato patty. As for the bill that came there was no pretax subtotal so if you want to check the bill you may want to do the calculation when ordering. Bottom line, for this price I can go somewhere cleaner with better food, less yelling and most of all, more basic respect for customers. Not returning and definitely not recommending. read more
Came here with a colleague today for a quick bite to eat. First thing I noticed when I walked in was that it was so humid and hot. It's seasonally warm right now in September so I wish they would've turned on the AC. Anyways but the end of our meal they had turned it on. She were seated fairly quickly. Service overall is abrupt but fast. I ordered the vermicelli with pork and a spring roll. I was pleasantly surprised with the type of noodle they used. I enjoyed my meal a lot and would definitely recommend and come back here again. read more

Im not impressed with their service. Food is meh. Noodles aren't silky at all and the chicken is soggy! I've had better pho at Angus Pho House and Vietnamese Noodle Star. The waitress just grabbed our order form when we were ready. The other waitress didn't tell us what our order is, she just put it on the table and we had to clarify. This is not the best pho. Noodles aren't silky and the chicken is soggy! Gross. I wasn't sour about the experience until we left to pay. Another waitress asked us "Can you leave more tip for the waitress?" Excuse me? I am not forced to tip, nor am I obliged to tip at all. We were barely served. Though we did tip, I just found that gesture rude. I have never been approached by a waitress like that. read more
This is my go-to Vietnamese Pho restaurant because you can get a massive portion of soup noodle for less than $10. I highly recommended it. Usually when my mom and I are doing grocery shopping at Foody Mart we would stop by Pho 88 to grab a lunch. We would order the XL size House Special Pho and ask for 2 small bowls to share it. The portion is massive, as the size of the bowl is as wide as my body. Not only that there is plenty of Vietnamese rice noodles but also tons of meats (raw beef strips, beef tripes, beef tendons, and beef meatballs). Also, there is a complementary plate of bean sprouts and mint on the side. The soup has nice flavour and usually I don't get very thirsty afterwards, so I don't think they put a lot of MSG in the soup. Sometimes if we order something extra on the side we can't finish the Special Pho so we would pack it and it's breakfast the next day. What a good deal. Other than the Pho I also like their rice dishes as the portion and flavour is really food as well. I like the chicken with fried egg and shredded pork rice dish. Additionally, I'm a huge fan of their iced Vietnamese Dripped Coffee. Vietnamese coffee is different because they let the coffee slowly drip from the container into a cup of ice, and then you add in condensed milk to your preferred sweetness. The flavour is not like any other type of coffee that I've tasted before, I really like the richness of the strong coffee and the sweet and creaminess that the condensed milk brings. However, since the food here is super cheap, the owners didn't invest in the renovation of the restaurant much. And yeah, don't expect much in terms of service. Usually you write down your order by your self on a piece of paper with the menu printed on it and they will take it back to the kitchen, then brings your food. There isn't much interaction between the server and the customer, but I don't really mind as I'm just here for a cheap and quick meal, and so are many of their other customers, as the restaurant has a lot of traffic throughout the weekend. One thing that I have some issues with though is that the place always feels kinda of greasy and icky, thus I'm deducting a star off of my rating. read more

Pho 88 Vietnamese Restaurant is like a Pho institution in Scarborough... Everyone I know been to it... and as a Pho "Queen" I have yet to pay a visit. This afternoon I was in a rush.. and want something quick fast and cheap.. and since I never have a bowl of Pho at this restaurant, all I go!! The parking here can just be a nightmare... with the busy Supermarket.. and driving in and out of the lot can be a stressful experience! Only a few tables occupied on this Friday afternoon.. I was never given a menu.. maybe they think I know what I want?? The order sheets are hiding underneath the table.. so I just picked my usual.......while the waiter looking over my shoulders. Pho with Rare Beef, Cook Beef and Tripes ($5.99) M - It took awhile to arrive to the table... a lot longer than I would have suspect because the place is not busy and just a Pho?? - The soup I am glad was deceiving hot! the bean sprouts all tenderly cooked by the time I start eating - MSG? Maybe.. but it is a good MSG... because I like it! :) good flavour.. salty enough for the noodle but too salty to drink on its own - Noodle though is not the fresh type.. but was cooked properly, so don't have that funny taste! - Beef, plenty of Beef.. (no one is going to ask me "Where is the Beef?") Not the best Pho I have, but I have to say it really hit the spot!! When I was walking to my car after stuffing myself, I feel nice and warm in my tummy.. that's always a good sign! read more
Im a regular customer here, a good place to get your Viet food fix. The Chicken Pho is good, nothing to complain about there but I've gotten their deep fried spring rolls (Ch giò) many times and its always soggy, I wish it came out crispy. The Grilled Pork Balls (Nem nng) are delicious, definitely recommend this over the spring rolls. Edit: if you're looking for dishes that have lots of flavour I would recommend getting the Bún tht nng nem nng (vermicelli noodles with grilled pork) and Cm 4 màu (rice with porkchop, fried egg, shredded pork skin and a pork& egg patty) remember to pour all of the fish sauce in for maximal flavour! read more

The beef noodles soups are alright. The XL bowl is pretty huge. Be careful when you choose it. That's a lot. What I don't like about the restaurant is it's not clean and the attitude of the owner is unbelievable! It's not busy when I and my friend arrived the restaurant around 6pm on Sunday. While waiting for our orders a woman takes a broom and sweeps the floor. Seriously? I went to the washroom and it looks scary. Someone should clean it! The tray which they carry our food looks old and again I don't think it's clean! Our receive is just a paper we order with total amount. That's it! Better go with Pho Metro! read more
Before the Scarborough area flourished with more Asians and before more Vietnamese pho restaurants popped up, Pho 88 was my go-to place. Nowadays, there are more choices and Pho 88 still serves decent pho but nothing superb. This time around I tried something different. We ordered a bowl of Satay Beef Noodle soup, a bowl of Beef Brisket in Tomato Paste soup, and spring rolls. My Satay Beef noodles came with the beef separately. It was also spicier than I imagined, even though I asked for less spice. I hoped for more satay taste, but instead it felt like regular pho with spicy oil only. On the other hand, the spring rolls were delicious and on par! Crispy outside yet super moist and packed contents. Everything dipped in fish sauce made it extra yummy! The service at Pho 88 is one of its great attributes. They are always swift, attitude normal to customers and accurate. No complaints there. Plus, they open late too so it makes eating more convenient. read more

I came back here 3 years after my poor experience, and am pleasantly surprised by the food quality in comparison to the rest of the pho places around the area. House Special Pho - meat is plentiful and doesn't taste bad, good kind of noodles are used, broth is delicious but has too much MSG Lemongrass Chicken - good flavour, but meat was too dry, rice is microwaved, and veggies are soaked in oil and barely hot. yuck Drip Coffee - super yummy read more
It's quite a busy Vietnamese restaurant when we got there around 9:40pm Tuesday. It's comfort food. The service is above average. Not much to write about. Just eat and ago, like the McDonald's in the same plaza, instead of burgers, it's pho. read more
We have been going to this spot for a couple of years now. It is an established eatery in the scarborough area. It has all the required criteria of a good pho restautant, good food, decent price and good portion sizes. On this night we ordered viet spring rolls, beef pho, and pork chops with rice. Viet spring rolls: very good portion size, crunchy on the outside and flavourful filling Beef pho: the broth was really good, noodles were perfect and decent amount of thinly sliced beef Pork chop with rice: good flavour on the pork chops When Pho 88 opened up in Scarborough there wasnt much pho places to pick from, but now there are so much pho restaurants scattered around. But they have managed to stay in business for this long. So that is a testament to their success. read more

Use to be my favourite pho place in Toronto, and I have been here since 2009. I don't know what happened, the recent experience is just extremely rude, food is blend, and it is DIRTY. Don't come here unless you want to be treated like a dog. read more

I was lucky to be the only customer inside at 5pm. I ordered my favorite pho in the world, PEANUT BUTTER PHO! I don't think other restaurants in Toronto offer such pho. I usually cannot finish the whole small bowl, but today was different! I haven't had it for maybe a year now, so I was able to enjoy every bit of it. The broth is rich in flavor. This is salty but I didn't mind it. It had generous amounts of beef, shrimp, and noodles. Came with a two-bite pineapple slice. This is a good choice if you need a late night dinner run! The restaurant is open until midnight;) read more
