My first time went to this pho restaurant and the price & taste is phenomenal. The restaurant is big, clean, and many tables, service is also super fast. One thing, they only take debit or cash. The pho here was so special, I ordered the special spicy beef noodle soup. The soup base was rich, it made with peanut & coconut, very different from what I had in the past. Service was friendly Surprisingly washroom was super clean which I loved but no mirror in washroom :( Food wise .. I likely won't come back. Ordered pho and bun ( rice vermicelli with pork / spring roll ). Sizing was smaller than usual.. not just by a little but by a lot as I noticed it right away . The bowl looked a small pho bowl size as opposed to medium or super larger pho bowl size I'm used to for bun ! I actually finished my bun and I never do . This has always been my go-to spot when I feel like I need a hearty, warm soupy dish. Not to mention their service is quick - when I say quick - I really mean it. You write down your order on this menu sheet and the food comes within a few minutes. I literally barely had time to take off my jacket and start a conversation with a friend and the food has already arrived, piping hot! It does look very old in there and it seems grimy, but this place has been here for MANY years now. Their food is decently sized with a great price. I usually get the Pho dac biet and then a viet coffee. I don't think I have found another place that is more consistent and more traditional than pho88. Must go! read more

Pho 88 serves excellent peanut pho. The broth has a delicious, strong peanut flavour. The large portion size is quite big and the extra large is huge and still reasonably priced. The service is always extremely quick and there is usually no wait for seating. The ambiance is a casual sit-down restaurant. It is great for a quick meal or if you want to sit for longer and catch up with loved ones. Service was fast and food was excellent. Crunchy tasty spring rolls had a great texture as soon as you take a bite into that crispy golden shell. If I had to choose only one menu item, I would choose the spring rolls. They are that good. Grilled Pork with Vermicelli was also bursting with flavours. Their grilled meat is always so delicious. For menu item number 426, the portion of meat was very generous inside the steamed rice flour rolls. I've had it at other restaurants and Pho 88 makes it different from others. Served with slices of ham, fried crispy garlic slices, slightly cooked bean sprouts and Vietnamese fish sauce dipping sauce, it was very good. I could've done without the Grass Jelly and Milk. We came here Saturday noon, and it was not busy. The setting is quite casual and decor is outdated. We ordered two types of phos and both of them were good. Also ordered mango smoothie and Vietnamese coffee, they were OK as well. Mango salad is a no for me, it's just mango and dressing is a way too sweet. Went for a lunch patio a couple weeks back. This place is located in the same plaza as Foody Mart close to Warden and Steeles. There two other restaurants on either side that was also doing outdoor dining so it was pretty packed. They had more seating out in the parking lot area which is where my friend and I were seated. You order and pay inside the store and then they let you know where to sit. They only take cash and debit fyi. Literally seconds after we sat down, we were brought our bowl of noodles. I ordered the Rare Beef and Beef Balls Noodle Soup for around $11. Overall it was nothing special. The broth honestly lacked a lot of flavour, the beef came pretty much fully fully cooked and the noodles were eh. The beef balls were actually pretty solid though. The tea they served was actually really good too. Nothing will be spectacular and it isn't bad by any means but I probably would try some other pho places in the area. This place is a local favourite. So many people come here at all hours. They are open really late so it's quick and convenient for any day or time. The flavours and broths are amazing and the portion sizes are great. Surprisingly they have a fairly extensive menu as well so you can get a wide variety of items ranging from spring roll appetizers to a multitude of pho dishes to smoothies and desserts. They also have a liquor license so you can grab a quick cheap beer to go with you meal too. The service is hit and miss. The owners are super friendly and nice but some of the regular staff often are not quite as friendly. The prices used to be amazing. However, as others have also discussed, over the past five years or so the prices have risen and it's not quite as good a bargain as before. This place is still a favourite of mine and I'm sure I'll still be going for years to come. read more

Solid 3.5 Local pho restaurant that has been in the Bamburgh Plaza for years. Their prices were reasonable however due to inflation and COVID prices have slightly increased. Used to be a high school favourite (if you don't mind smelling like pho) but the quality has gone down significantly over the years. Portion size is less and the poor quality of the meat is evident. We ordered the L house special and there was one piece of raw beef and not much else. I would not order the shrimp paste and sugar cane ever again. Still a fan & my first choice for pho! It is located in Bamburgh Circle plaza and parking here can be tough during meal times. The restaurant itself is big and has plenty of tables but it gets very busy especially during dinner. Tables can seat up to four but some are placed next to each other. There may be times when you are sitting close to a stranger. Utensils are self serve and they give you a menu sheet to write down what you want. I've been consistently ordering 119- Ve Don- Beef Brisket Pho and sometimes trying the Pho with BBQ chicken. For 119, I've never found a place that matches their type of cut and it is amazingly tender and juicy which is why this is still my favorite pho of all time. The BBQ chicken is cooked very well and delicious but I find the portion of the chicken to be quite small. It seems as if the size of the chicken remains the same despite upsizing the pho... The broth is extremely tasty and noodles are cooked perfectly. Sadly the price of everything went up and now the spring rolls are $4.75 for 2. I don't find the size of the spring rolls consistent but it is yummy. I wouldn't always get it because it is pretty pricey. However, it is also enough to share with one other person. Pretty decent pho in Markham area. We got a table for 7 and was quickly seated since it wasn't too busy but was left with only 2 menus between a bunch of us so we asked for more. They have ordering paper hung on the outside of each table making it convenient for them and for the customers. The pho special there only came in two sizes large and extra large. Since half of us could not finish a large to ourselves we decided to order 2 extra large bowls of special beef pho between two groups of 2's. We were given small bowls because I'm assuming a lot of people split for a better deal. Our food came out hot, I just wished more broth was given but we finished most of it so I'm not really complaining. The broth was pretty good and there was ample amounts of noodles and meats. My experience resonate with some of the comments below. My rating is half star for the soup base and the other half for the speed. The service was really bad. While they haven't been rude to us, we saw how impolite the two ladies were treating other customers. The whole dinner experience involved a lot of pushing around, yelling, shouting.... It was 6ish on a Friday night. And this place got busy shortly after we ordered. We ordered a deep fried spring roll, one rare beef pho and one rare beef plus chicken pho. We were so excited to see the picture on the menu that rare beef comes on the side. But it was sooo bad when it arrived. Not only was the beef not on a separate dish (which I can live with), but also it was all clumped together. They didn't even bother to loosen up the slices of beef. And the beef had the faintest pink that I have ever seen in a rare beef pho, essentially it's well done. The spring roll was fair though I found it tastes more like a potato patty. As for the bill that came there was no pretax subtotal so if you want to check the bill you may want to do the calculation when ordering. Bottom line, for this price I can go somewhere cleaner with better food, less yelling and most of all, more basic respect for customers. Not returning and definitely not recommending. read more

Im not impressed with their service. Food is meh. Noodles aren't silky at all and the chicken is soggy! I've had better pho at Angus Pho House and Vietnamese Noodle Star. The waitress just grabbed our order form when we were ready. The other waitress didn't tell us what our order is, she just put it on the table and we had to clarify. This is not the best pho. Noodles aren't silky and the chicken is soggy! Gross. I wasn't sour about the experience until we left to pay. Another waitress asked us "Can you leave more tip for the waitress?" Excuse me? This is my go-to Vietnamese Pho restaurant because you can get a massive portion of soup noodle for less than $10. I highly recommended it. Usually when my mom and I are doing grocery shopping at Foody Mart we would stop by Pho 88 to grab a lunch. We would order the XL size House Special Pho and ask for 2 small bowls to share it. The portion is massive, as the size of the bowl is as wide as my body. Not only that there is plenty of Vietnamese rice noodles but also tons of meats (raw beef strips, beef tripes, beef tendons, and beef meatballs). Also, there is a complementary plate of bean sprouts and mint on the side. The soup has nice flavour and usually I don't get very thirsty afterwards, so I don't think they put a lot of MSG in the soup. Sometimes if we order something extra on the side we can't finish the Special Pho so we would pack it and it's breakfast the next day. What a good deal. Other than the Pho I also like their rice dishes as the portion and flavour is really food as well. I like the chicken with fried egg and shredded pork rice dish. Additionally, I'm a huge fan of their iced Vietnamese Dripped Coffee. Vietnamese coffee is different because they let the coffee slowly drip from the container into a cup of ice, and then you add in condensed milk to your preferred sweetness. The flavour is not like any other type of coffee that I've tasted before, I really like the richness of the strong coffee and the sweet and creaminess that the condensed milk brings. However, since the food here is super cheap, the owners didn't invest in the renovation of the restaurant much. And yeah, don't expect much in terms of service. Usually you write down your order by your self on a piece of paper with the menu printed on it and they will take it back to the kitchen, then brings your food. There isn't much interaction between the server and the customer, but I don't really mind as I'm just here for a cheap and quick meal, and so are many of their other customers, as the restaurant has a lot of traffic throughout the weekend. One thing that I have some issues with though is that the place always feels kinda of greasy and icky, thus I'm deducting a star off of my rating. read more

Im a regular customer here, a good place to get your Viet food fix. The Chicken Pho is good, nothing to complain about there but I've gotten their deep fried spring rolls (Ch giò) many times and its always soggy, I wish it came out crispy. The Grilled Pork Balls (Nem nng) are delicious, definitely recommend this over the spring rolls. Edit: if you're looking for dishes that have lots of flavour I would recommend getting the Bún tht nng nem nng (vermicelli noodles with grilled pork) and Cm 4 màu (rice with porkchop, fried egg, shredded pork skin and a pork& egg patty) remember to pour all of the fish sauce in for maximal flavour! read more

Sometimes when it's busy, seatings are shared (get cozy with strangers!) Interior is simple with easy access to menu and utensils. Staff are okay, very quick and efficient with service. Food This is my go-to Pho. It's been around for over 20 years (or as long as I can remember). I usually order item 101, which is your standard meat pho. I like their broth cause it's not extremely strong, but enough to taste. Not too overpowering broth gives you the option to add in other ingredients to fit your tasting (ie, mints or hot sauce or lime). The meat is thinly sliced and cooks instantly once it's in the broth. Plentiful of noodles and portion size are reasonable. Another item I usually like is their vermicelli, which either I get pork or chicken. The meat itself is tender and grilled. The vermicelli usually comes with spring rolls, which it's always my favourite and the best one I had in all Pho restaurants. It's so crispy, full of flavour and blends so well dipping it with the fish sauce. Drinks are also good. They make their shakes fresh and offers soursop. Take out menu available and open till late, perfect for busy people or nights you partied too hard and need some comfort food! read more

What I don't like about the restaurant is it's not clean and the attitude of the owner is unbelievable! It's not busy when I and my friend arrived the restaurant around 6pm on Sunday. While waiting for our orders a woman takes a broom and sweeps the floor. Seriously? I went to the washroom and it looks scary. Someone should clean it! Before the Scarborough area flourished with more Asians and before more Vietnamese pho restaurants popped up, Pho 88 was my go-to place. Nowadays, there are more choices and Pho 88 still serves decent pho but nothing superb. This time around I tried something different. We ordered a bowl of Satay Beef Noodle soup, a bowl of Beef Brisket in Tomato Paste soup, and spring rolls. My Satay Beef noodles came with the beef separately. It was also spicier than I imagined, even though I asked for less spice. I hoped for more satay taste, but instead it felt like regular pho with spicy oil only. On the other hand, the spring rolls were delicious and on par! Crispy outside yet super moist and packed contents. Everything dipped in fish sauce made it extra yummy! The service at Pho 88 is one of its great attributes. They are always swift, attitude normal to customers and accurate. No complaints there. Viet spring rolls: very good portion size, crunchy on the outside and flavourful filling Beef pho: the broth was really good, noodles were perfect and decent amount of thinly sliced beef Pork chop with rice: good flavour on the pork chops When Pho 88 opened up in Scarborough there wasnt much pho places to pick from, but now there are so much pho restaurants scattered around. They add tip to your receipt themselves, which is only a hand written number so I have good reason to think they hope people do not find out and just tip extra. Food quality was still up to par. Their curry chicken was tasty but not very strong flavoured. Actually everything I wrote in my last review still holds true. Although I don't mind their service in general I find them adding tip themselves such a fishy move. Business ought to present bills with honesty, rather than overcharging customers like this. Haven't been to this pho place for a couple years. So I wanna give it a try. However it is quite disappointing. (It tastes better couple years before even though the service was non-exist) I ordered takeout this time and I know it wouldn't taste the same as dine in. I would say the meat was okay but the portion is so small. They gave so LITTLE rice noodle for a "large size " pho. Furthermore, they charged EXTRA for takeout, so a large-sized pho costs $15 at this place while they DID NOT use those environmental friendly containers. For the same or lower price, I think there are a couple better pho places in the area. Another thing to note is that their soup base was quite salty. read more
