BEWARE. Leopold (the owner?) is a total flake. I spoke with him twice on 5/8/20 to get some basic questions out of the way. We then agreed to meet up at the studio on the morning of 5/9/20. I texted him at 8:30 am. No response. Then, called him at 9:00 am... Nothing. Now I'm seeing these other yelp reviews where he disappeared on other people. Totally checks out. Stay away from this guy and his studio. The price is cheap but this comes at the risk of him going MIA on the day of your event. Not worth it! read more

What a difference a year makes. Had a great experience booking this space for an event last year. At the time, Leopold was communicative and highly accomodating to our needs. This year, I tried booking the space for another event and Leopold went radio silent after taking my $125 deposit. I wasn't alarmed initially given that we'd done business before and I made the booking well over a month in advance. However, two weeks prior to my event I e-mailed, called, and texted to re-confirm that we were all set--silence. I've since reached out numerous times and have heard nothing back. I'm very dissapointed with this turn in behavior and recommend that others stay away. read more

This was a great experience and the rate really helped me as a student, be able to afford the place! The stages in our school was fully booked, i came across this studio which is just at the corner on thompson ave. The place was amazing , it's smaller than some other studios, but excellent enough to really light and do anything. It's so clean too, we were able to use their light and didn't even have to worry about bringing an extra table for craftees! Would rent again when needed! If you have the chance and need a stage without hassle, this is the place to go to! read more

Dealing with Photo Film Stage has been the WORST experience I have had in Hollywood thus far. After hiring their services for a shoot and then shooting the material, they disappeared. I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. Last thing I got from them was a week ago saying that my photos were almost finished uploading and I would be sent a link to them soon when they finished uploading. I have called several times, left several messages, sent texts, and even left message via their Facebook Page which shows that they read the message and still NOTHING. NOT A WORD. NO COMMUNICATION. So if you want your project to totally fall behind and not get any communication as to why you aren't receiving your promised work, then hire these people. Trust me....MOVE ON!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Here was my absolutely appalling experience. I had been trying to schedule a shoot for months due to tight scheduling, and I confirmed a date and time to shoot here, with an email confirmation from whoever runs this place. I show up with my crew at the confirmed time of noon, and no one was there. I give it ten minutes to see if they are running late, and no one shows up. So I am standing there with my crew, everyone holding their gear, ready to work. I call the number listed, and there is one ring, and then straight to voicemail. I leave a voicemail. Then I text. Multiple times. Then I email. I try calling again, and now it just goes straight to voicemail. At this point, this is extremely embarrassing in front of my crew, who are standing in the sun, including my model, who drove two hours to get here. I wait another THIRTY minutes, continuing to call, and absolute silence. On all ends. So I had to CANCEL my shoot, and shamefully tell everyone they have wasted their time (and MY money), and not knowing when I may be able to shoot again. It has been FIVE DAYS, and NO ONE has contacted me. No apology, NOTHING. It's like they forgot, then went and like cowards, hid in a cave and pretended it never happened. This is shameful, and I will tell you, AVOID THIS PLACE. Whoever runs it is a terrible business person, and not a good human being. read more

After trying to schedule a video shoot for months, I was finally able to shoot my video at photo film stage. Overall I couldn't be happier with how accommodating and kind Leo was and how easy he made it to orchestrate what was a long, messy shoot. I didn't think I would find a studio owner who would be willing to let me shoot such a complicated set- but Leo let us paint the walls and everything. With my video about to go up in a gallery in a week, I'm over the moon I was able to find such an affordable space. had a terrible experience with these folks. it's always a disappointment to have to write a negative review for any business, but i think anyone trying to book this place for a shoot (or any reason) should be fairly warned. there is a serious breakdown in communication between the owner, leo and the "intern" denise who runs things while he's away. she screwed up twice (didn't show up to open the studio for our rental) but she IS an intern (not sure why she's being handed so much responsibility - unless that's just their excuse to cover their error) and with leo's apologies and assurance that he would be there himself this time we booked the shop again. whoops! *another* no-show and making it worse, unlike denise, the INTERN, we never reached leo, the OWNER on the day of the booking and have never heard back from him with an apology or explanation. don't risk losing a client or an hour of shooting time or an entire shoot or your mind booking this place. they clearly don't care about this part of their business. read more

I have been shooting here since the business opened a few years ago. Leo and Jen are super accommodating, I've never had a problem with them being late. They don't interfere with the shoots and they make your clients feel welcome. I would and do recommend this place to all photographers and film makers. read more

It was a great experience to work in this space. Leo was unbelievably helpful, not only renting out the space but also kept checking in if we needed anything else. The space is not so big, but enough size for a small scale photo and film shooting. The back drops are in pretty good shapes. They also have some basic lighting set ups you can rent. This place was great! Had all the equipment I needed plus a big enough screen for a lot of different scenes. Leo was great, really helped us out- super nice! There was a green room area for our crew and cast to hang out with more than enough space for all our props! Very convenient, I'll definitely be referring this place to my colleagues! read more

A few of us had a video shoot there today for our webpages. SOOOOO IMPRESSED. Leo let us in RIGHT ON TIME - offered us help many times during the morning. He was gracious and kind. The studio had a huge fan (not airconditioned) but we were so lucky as JUNE GLOOM had set in so it wasn't hot at all. Great, clean studio - plenty of room for all of us and plenty visitor parking - 2 spots near the studio for crew. I highly recommend this studio - if you are on a budge - this place is a GEM. I have never had as positive an experience with a location as I had with Leopold and PhotoFilmStage. First of all, you cannot beat the rate. Secondarily, the fact that you get such a large flexible space, with a bathroom, with lights -- amazing bargain. There's a green screen at a small extra cost - also a bargain. Leopold always respond to all my emails very quickly. When we arrive, he helped us load the stage with our gear (and helped us wrap up). All he ever did was try to make things as convenient for us as possible. The location itself was convenient, quiet and had everything we needed. I'd give it six stars if I could. read more

This place is an invaluable find for low-budget filmmakers. We searched all over for a location for our web series shoot, and PhotoFilmStage was by far the most reasonably priced, and the best one we looked at! And Leo is the coolest, most helpful, and accommodating guy! There are a bunch of couches and chairs, lights, backdrops, wardrobe rack, even a cooler for your craft services! And he really lets you do your thing - no micromanaging here. It's also in a great, central location. Can't say enough great things about this space. I know we'll be using it again! read more

Reserving a booking was very easy to begin with and the rates are very good for the space! The owner was very helpful and offered all their options available. I had most of my own equipment and was there to use props and sets at the studio and it worked out great! The space is very private which is great as well! I have been working in the film industry for ten years and this was one of the best experiences I've had working on a stage. Leopold was fantastic to work with and gave us all the information we needed about the stage itself as well as being extremely helpful upon arrival and wrap. This studio made a colossal error that forced me to find a new location w/less than a weeks time, a large crew, and a very complicated project. I met w/Leo close to one month in advance for my shoot. Leo did not have an opening available on my intended shooting date. I was so impressed w/his space and Leo's easy going/up front attitude that I decided to change my shoot date in order to fit the studio's availability. I explained to Leo that I would be willing to re-arrange my shooting date w/my cast and crew in order to meet the studio's availability. I left a down payment for the intended shoot date. After painstaking efforts, I was able to convince my entire cast and crew to rearrange their schedules in order to meet the new shooting date. I was even forced to find a new DP as my intended DP was unavailable for the new date. From the time I booked the studio, up to less than a week before my shoot date, I had spoken to Leo TWICE, ironing out some routine details for my upcoming shoot date. Not once did Leo mention any problems for my intended shoot date. Less than one week prior to my shoot date, I get a TEXT from Leo, stating that a mistake was made and he had double booked. Leo blamed the error on his staff. W/all due respect, I requested Leo take responsibility for the error and rearrange a new date w/the other production. I only asked him to do that since I had gone out of my way to meet his needs up to that point. He refused to do so. I reminded him that I had cast/crew/equipment for that date, all w/expected compensation and it was too late for me to re-schedule. I would be losing money! His only response was that the other production had a higher budget than mine and they had priority. So you might wanna think twice before dealing with this incompetent and unreliable studio. If this truly wasn't a competency issue, you're looking at a studio that'll bump you based on your budget level. Enter at your own risk or at the very least have a plan B. read more
