I'm in Los Angeles doing some fill-in shows for a friend of mine. I recently moved to Tucson from Torrance and needed a spot with drums to practice and learn the material. This place is unbelievable. The staff is great and they are beyond accommodating. Sipan is friendly and attentive to detail. The drums were top notch, but remember to bring cymbals. Thank you guys!! This place is adequate. They were very cordial & accommodating on the phone, and i reserved a space no problem. I got a small studio. Price point was an acceptable hourly rate. The PA in the room was relatively janky...strung together with an XLR plugged into another XLR that popped loudly when i nudged it with my foot. Also the PA shocked me via the mic whilst playing, aka the room is not grounded which...cmon guys really? Another band was playing down the hall, and i want to warn you that the bass isolation is almost non-existent. Sounded like dude was shredding his "hot licks" in the middle of our practice All that being said, place was clean, easy parking, vending machines w coffee etc. The drumkit & amps they provided weren't amazing but they did the job. I would come back here in a pinch if i needed a spot to practice in LA again. Just be aware that there are some annoying drawbacks. read more

I want to like this place more, it for a rehearsal studio, the. I'll core of all the gear seems to always be in a state of being broken. Not sure if they repair in house or send it out, but as a bass player, I've been underwhelmed if not frustrated and makes me want to schlep my own gear which kinda defeats the whole purpose. I love this place. I can tell the ownership knows what they're doing because the staff here is amazing!!!! To top it off they have the most reasonable prices in town. Top notch facilities with more parking then they know what to do with. I wish there were 10 stars on yelp to give these guys. It caters to musicians. It's so important to me to practice my art somewhere that feels comfortable. The place is huge. They have a bunch of rooms to utilize and Lockouts!!!!! My band has been playing in the same rehearsal space in Burbank for 6 years, but that space recently raised its prices and changed its hours, so we decided to see if we could find something new. That's when we found MDM Rehearsal Studios. We ran through their welcoming glass doors and will never look back! MDM may seem shady because it's hidden next to a strip club and some train tracks, but it's the cleanest and cutest studio I've ever seen, and that's important to my bandmates and I. I don't want to practice somewhere if I have to be afraid a cockroach is going to run out of my case when I pick it up to pack up and leave at the end of the night. This place is immaculate... and that includes the bathrooms. There are vending machines in the lobby with coffee, soda stuff, and snackies, and they have a plethora of strings, picks, and other miscellaneous odds and ends that you may need in an emergency. Everything is really reasonably priced, too. I'm not sure if every room is the same, but in the rooms we've used, they've included drums and backline, and it's goooood backline. It makes me embarrassed to have such crappy gear of my own, ha. The PAs are great, and we never have a problem hearing our singer, even when our amps are too loud, haha. I don't want to list prices here in case they change one day, but as of now, this place is ridiculously cheap. You don't even know. Call them and find out for yourself because you'll absolutely die. The rooms are air conditioned and they're all the perfect size; quite conducive to jumping and dancing around while playing, which is something I know quite a bit about. The walls are semi-sound proofed (it's good enough, really, and it's never been an issue for us). If you don't have a lockout, you can book rehearsal time in any chunk of hours you want! Our old space restricted us to particular three-hour blocks, but we have complete freedom here, which is amazing. We've discovered that we've really been missing out. Lastly, every time we've been to MDM, the desk guy, Aram, has been so helpful, so kind, and so respectful. I hate to admit it, but we just assumed that all rehearsal studio guys were jerks, because that's all we've ever known (we take a lot of shit for being a band of mostly females). It's not that way at MDM though. Now they'll never get rid of us! Fern Lane loves MDM. Do yourself a favor and go practice there. You'll love it too. read more

My band has been using MDM regularly for the past few months to practice. The best thing about MDM is the smooth booking process. It's not staffed by flaky stoners like a lot of places. I've mainly dealt with Ocean (that's not how you spell it, but that's how it sounds so I'll just call him that for now since I don't know the spelling) and he is really on the ball, answers the phone, calls you back, is always at the desk to get you a cable or something, and is also friendly, knowledgeable, and not condescending! It's very easy to get in touch with them and MDM sends you an official email confirmation of your booking. We're not really gearheads but my drummer is consistently disappointed by the drums. He brings his own cymbols and snares, but the hardware and other house stuff is a bit wonky, stuff is worn out. There's usually some sort of buzz in the P.A but that's like most places where we've rehearsed. We play kinda quiet music and I think the choice of gear is geared for louder rock bands but we still manage to get a good enough mix for practice, and for just having a no-hassle place to book and play once a week it's really great. MDM is also very clean compared to most rehearsal spaces. We have yet to get a smelly room. The women's bathroom is especially clean. My drummer recently saw some funny business going down in the men's bathroom, I guess that's pretty "rock and roll", but otherwise it's kept in good order. Parking is easy! There's no gate to get buzzed in and it's in a kind of industrial area with a huge parking lot, lots of spaces! Sometimes they have specials, but usually the rates are slightly higher than other spots we use, but you're getting the great management, reliability and cleanliness. read more

Wow, not in much agreement with the other reviews. The hardware on the drum kit was like nothing I've seen in 20 years - cheap, crappy cymbal stands with hardware-store wing nuts, a drum throne that has to be the cheapest one I've seen since age 13, and a bunch of swarthy, sneering, unsmiling middle Eastern guys hanging around acting like you don't belong there. Yes, clean and immaculate. Also unfriendly and unappreicative of your business. No one I played with there wants to come back. Attitude goes further than a clean carpet. read more

Good clean studio. They have plenty of parking and many well equipped rooms. They have loudish amps, which are fine for certain music. We're in a blues band so we bring out low wattage amps. The people who work there are chill and courteous. It's quite accessible being right off the 134 and the 5. Finally, the bathrooms are clean, which is a good feature. This rehearsal spot is very nicely put together. But the hallways and rooms are really small. The place looks very well kept and neat. But the location is awkward to get to, unless you come here often. And the gear is very cheap! So I guess what I'm trying to say is this place is more concerned with looks than performance. read more

mdm made our rehearsal pleasant and fun the place was immaculately clean and the equipment was impeccable up to date and we enjoyed it.all of the members of our band injure are graduates or staff members at Musicians Institute in Hollywood one of the world's most famous music schools teaching contemporary style music for successful careers we cannot always use the school so mdm is our second home and we love it when we get there because we can really rock out. read more
