Dave is a lifelong music maker and it's obvious. It's obvious by his (very hand-picked and constantly-evolving) collection of outboard gear and vintage microphones, by his scarily-sharp ear (can pinpoint problem frequency in kick drum from two football fields), and by his humble, head-down attitude towards music. I've been in and out of studios since my first summer cable-wrapping internship at Studio West in high school (2008)--from beachy San-Diego home studios to SF bay middle-of-the-roaders to Stephen Still's home-studio and Dave Aron's (Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Prince) platinum-lined monster--and I go to Dave. As an artist paying for studio time, that's incredibly distracting and disrespectful. I did not feel valued as a client. After leaving, I was repeatedly asked to rebook, instead of being asked how the session went. Bad vibes kill creativity. I would never go back. UPDATED Feb 1-11:24pm After leaving this review, the owner Elliot messaged me AGAIN on Instagram. Took zero accountability and only cares about his image. NOT the client. To address your comment, I asked for a discount, cuz your interns run the session. As Indie artists we have to fight to protect a space we paid for. Often times we don't have other options in the area so we suck it up, but no more! This is not a good studio. I would not go back. Look at how he responds to feedback...
