I went to Physical Graffiti for the first time on Sunday, 1/27. I know that they are typically busy, so I called ahead and they were wonderful! I was able to get pierced same day, and they told me I could come as soon as possible. After doing some research and hearing about her wonderful reputation, I had made the decision to get pierced by Carrie. Whenever the impulse struck, they were busy and I was hesitant to make an appointment because it had been a long time since I decided I wanted a piercing and committed to it - and all of my other piercings had been taken out as part of my "growing up" process while working professionally during and after college. I had concerns that I would make the appointment and chicken out, so I was waiting for a day like Sunday when I would be able to go right away. After Carrie brought me to her office (the piercing room), she gave me a quick explanation as to how the process will go. I told her I am familiar with piercings and she catered the information to what I was getting pierced that day - expected healing process, do's and don'ts, what to expect in the days and first few weeks after getting pierced. She talked to me during the piercing process just enough to keep my nerves at bay and to be friendly enough that I would go back to her for anything! She gave me excellent care instructions as we exited the room and headed to the desk, and provided me with all of the materials needed to care for my piercings during their healing time. She gave me an approximate healing time and explained that it will be slightly different for everyone. She told me that, when I can change the jewelry, there are different sizes and to choose the one that is the right length - it was at that point that I told Carrie I will see her when that time comes because I would absolutely prefer someone with her expert knowledge to help me decide, instead of me guessing and hoping whatever I purchase works. Carrie is WONDERFUL. Physical Graffiti is super clean and the staff was rather friendly for a tattoo shop - granted, it was a quiet Sunday afternoon when I popped in. I will absolutely return to Carrie to change my jewelry when the time comes and also for any of my future piercing needs. read more

Great customer service. Chill but not skeezy vibe. The intake form on the IPad was super thorough and professional. Carrie was accomodating and patient as we discussed if I wanted to re-do an old piercing or a different version that many women also like. When I asked if I could choose the bead for my ring, she brought boxes od choices. I chose a pretty blue gem. When it came time for the piercing, she mentioned that she found my old piercing but it was more shallow and a higher position than she would do. I asked to place the new jeweley in the old piercing and consulted on feasibility and placement for adding the alternate piercing. I ended up paying $20 and a big tip. I am going to wait 2 weeks before deciding if I want to add the 2nd piercing. It will totally be worth the $110 as Carrie is clean, meticulous, and sends each customer off with a care kit for their new piercing. read more

I couldn't be happier with my first tattoo experience. Paul was great to work with and gave excellent advice and did amazing artwork along the way. I feel his work is on par with some of the most famous names. I chose a half sleeve for my first tattoo and did an incredible amount of research before choosing Paul. The environment is comfortable super clean, well designed and as a customer I felt that I was getting plenty of attention, and they were really helpful. I will certainly return for more work. (and for that matter can't see myself going anywhere else). I've heard a few people say that they aren't the least expensive, but do you really want the cheapest guy with the least experience doing artwork that you have to look at every day of your life? Certainly not me, I felt that spending a few extra bucks was worthy investment knowing that I was in capable experienced hands, and judging by the finished tattoo I have confirmed that I have chosen very wisely! read more

Carrie is the BOMB! I only see her for my nose piercing maybe once every 2 years but whenever I need help with a new piercing or if my nose ring falls out she's always available, efficient, and CLEAN! Cleanliness is so important when dealing with piercings! She's super nice and she'll have you in and out! read more

Took my daughter here New Year's Eve to get an ear cartilage piercing removed. Carrie helped us. She was very carefully, knowledgeable, and helpful. She carefully removed the old piercing, cleaned the ear, inserted the new earring, and gave detailed instructions on future ear care. Left with a small bag of supplies and a printed instruction card. UPDATE: I didn't realize that you were in a position to psychoanalyze your clients. That's extremely disrespectful to those who actually do have mental illness. Your response to this review is extremely false and that just goes to speak of the character of this place. You were in fact NOT present in the room. The only people in the room were the owner Paul, Vinny, my friend and I. I was not the one yelling. I was polite the entire time. My friend was a witness to all of this. That's not an issue, as those who know me, know I do not yell. It was your husband, the OWNER, who was doing all the yelling. I could understand why you would publicly lie and defend your husband in order to protect your business but this is simply not the truth. You explained below under my review the reasoning why you could not do the touch up, but again that's not what I was told initially. If that were the case, he could've kindly clarified that to a FIRST TIMER and called it a day....not yell at me then tell me that I "gotta go." when I clearly was told something different. I was told to come back for a touch up AFTER it was healed which is exactly what I did. I did initially leave a positive review after my first visit because I did love my tattoo artist, who was the only kind person there, and HE himself was the one who told me he'd touch up my tattoo because it was sloppy. After the 2nd clearly terrible visit, I deleted that review on Google, updated it and added this one on Yelp. I did not change my name. Nothing to hide here. This sure doesn't sound like an apology at all, and like I said, terrible customer service. The response to this review is further reason to stay away. Came here to get my first tattoo ever recommended by my friend who got it done here. Loved my tattoo artist and the actual tattoo itself but there was a very small part that was sloppy and the day I got it done was told after it healed, that I could come back and get it fixed if need be. This is something that's gonna be on my body for the rest of my life and would've taken all of 5 SECONDS to fix. Ended up coming back and the OWNER of this place is the most rude/disrespectful person I've ever encountered in my life...for absolute NO reason. From Day 1, he was unnecessarily mean. Kept referring to me as this "chick" and just straight up mean. Sure, you're great at tattoos and have clientele but learn how to treat people let alone CUSTOMERS that are supporting YOUR business like human beings. I was in tears and told him he didn't have to be so disrespectful and he proceeded to yell at me and tell me I had to go. I'm legit traumatized. You never know what other people are going through. Do not come here if you are a person of color or if you support people of color. My friend and her buddies recently came here and they were using racialized speech. They asked them various questions about why black people "just can't get over it" (in regards to racism and discrimination) and that is just not professional. Hold the beliefs that you do but do not share your personal beliefs with your clientele. Just do the work and be done. Just got back from getting my tragus pierced. From the minute I walked in the door I was created by a sweet young girl. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. My bad!! Filled out the necessary papers and I was all good to go. Carrie came out and created me. She already knew that I had had my tragus pierced years ago and I had to let it close (my stupid mistake) she explained to me the difference in the healing process of a stud versus the ring. I went with the ring. Heals easier and I could always change to a stud in the future. Such a comforting and painless experience. I will drop off a cash tip to her before they close tonight being I live down the street. I Highly recommend Physical Grafitti for all your piercings and tattoos. I got a quick and simple nose piercing here, done by Carrie. She seemed like she knew what she was doing and knowledgeable about piercings in general which is always a good sign. I love this place! I have gotten 3 piercings here and two tattoos. The piercer was the best I first got my lip done by her but I couldn't keep it because I had complications because of smoking and dental problems. The last piercing I got was my septum and it healed wonderfully with the products she supplies for no extra cost. My first tattoo there was a cartoon cat and the person doing the tattoo made some suggestions so it would turn out the best possible way. My next tattoo was just a word but the tattooer made sure I made the right decisions for the size of the text and placement. When I went to get my second tattoo my first one had lost a little ink so they touched it up for free. I have gone to other tattooers and by far this will be the only place I go from now on. read more

This is a fantastic shop. Clean, nice lay out, great jewelry display, and they have a pool table for while your waiting. Most importantly the work they do here is impeccable. Flawless piercings of all kinds inlcuding dermal anchors. The piercer Tommy is really good at placing dermals and incorporating them into tattoos. The shop owner/ tattoo artist specializes in traditional japanese style tattoos and he is AWESOME. My boyfriend has a full backpiece and full sleeve from him. I had my stomach tattooed here by a guy who doesn't work there anymore but it was a good tattoo. The work is not cheap, but you must remember you are paying for something to go on your body for life you might as well pay the extra money for quality work. I tell all my friends who are looking for a good place in the central jersey area to check it out, because there is a lot of shotty tattooing going on around here. read more

Amazing place! The staff isn't friendly, but they are very competent in what they do and they know what they are doing. I got my nose pierced here. After two weeks while I was cleaning my piercing it came out, and since it's a nose screw it was IMPOSSIBLE of putting it back in, it wouldn't go through the hole! I got desperate and didn't want to pay for a repierce. Surprisingly when I got there I explained what happened to the guy that works there (I didn't ask his name!) and he quickly guided me to the room and repierced my nose for me, since the inside healed, and didn't charge me at all! I decided that I was going to get an intimate body piercing over the weekend that I put off for years. Several reasons prolonged my decision but I had the courage and the time, and as a birthday gift to myself I decided to just go for it. With that being said, choosing the correct professional was not a short or easy process. I did call around and look online to find the right person. Being that I live in NJ but work in NYC I have many options as to where I can go. When I called the shop Carrie answered and said that the shop doesn't discus prices over the phone. At first I was a bit put off because that means I have to travel all the way there first before I can make a financial decision. When I gave it some thought I realized that truly is for my own best interest. The price could be right and I travel to the shop and then everything else there is wrong! That surely was NOT the case. Carrie was professional and friendly and made the experience very comforting. She was direct in her approach but sensitive to my nervousness. The shop and facilities are clean and her tools all sterilized as I saw them freshly out of the packaging. Her method was fast and easy... I won't say painless as any piercing has some kick to it but being that I have other piercings I can certainly say she minimized the pain as best as possible. She stands by her work and had an open door policy where she assured me if I have any questions/concerns to come right back. All the cleaning products were included and there was no up charge for that or the jewelry used. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the work and I'm so glad I found this gem of a location.
