I came here after a failed PT stint for my partially torn meniscus tear. Dr. S has been treating me and I have been able to return to lifting, hiking, Pilates, and running again. Dr. Silverton has helped me greatly. I have long had an imbalance on the right side of my body. In pictures of me standing against a wall - and also in x-rays - you could see that my right side is lowered. This became an issue when I did overhead barbell presses. My right side had less flexibility and also was in pain. With a judicious application of his full body weight against my right shoulder, and the addition of mobility exercises, my shoulders are now evened out and my overhead presses are progressing smoothly. I just wrapped up my 3rd week with Dr. Sandoval (Jillian and Julie), and I have been extremely pleased with my results. I had a full hip replacement, and each session I'm feeling stronger and gaining more mobility. Dr. Sandoval is a careful listener and takes time to learn more about me, my lifestyle pre-surgery and goals post-surgery. Each session, we check in and that informs the approach for the workout...not cookie cutter, one size fits all. I would like to thank Dr. Bay and everyone who has helped my 7 year old, Jodie achieve some major goals she has for dancing. Jodie loves to dance, but she needed some help in the flexibility department. Saved my back, neck and lifting career! I am an experienced Strongman competitor that was injured in a car accident around July 2022. I ended up with 8 herniated discs in my back and neck ... not exactly something you want to deal with whenever you are attempting to carry 1000 pounds on your back. I had never had a back issue before the car accident. I live in Texas by the way! Everything was done remote! Dr Brown did a complete assessment on me and developed numerous different warmups and workouts for me to do as I was easing myself back into lifting. Keep in mind, I do not lift as the average man does, I pick up 400 pound stones, carry yokes on my back, and shoulder 350 pound sandbags. This is only important because it relays just how incredible Dr. Brown is. In the middle of my recovery from the car accident, I was hospitalized with appendicitis and had 4 incisions to my abdominal wall, stayed in the hospital 5 days with blood infection, and lost 35 pounds. Dr. Brown didn't miss a beat, she pivoted on my rehab plan and included the abdominal injuries as part of the plan. She always made time for me on the schedule and made it super easy to get in touch. The virtual physical therapy was excellent as well. I have had several injuries that required PT in the past and the experience I received online with Dr. Brown was superior to the in person treatment at other facilities. Overall, Dr. Brown then left me with warmups that I could continue to use for years afterwards before my workouts that completely changed my functional abilities. Within weeks of both injuries I was already returning to normal function and working out again. I even recommended her to my wife after she gave birth to our youngest son. I was told that I needed a knee replacement but I should lose weight and do physical therapy. I was reluctant to do pt as I had done it once before after my hip was replaced. I am sure it helped but lack of attention while I was there made me reluctant to do so. Thankfully that office was booked a month in advance which made me look elsewhere. When I called they said they could get me in within a few days. Was glad to get started. I am seeing Dr Sandoval and am so happy with the care I am getting from him And everyone else there. Had tremendous pain in my knee from years of ballet. As an older adult, I thought that it was permanent and my quality of life would never return to what it had been. After a visit with Dr. Bay I was able to take a ballet class the following day. Feeling 10 years younger, I was able to sleep due to reduced pain. I had a previous PT in Redondo Beach for the last 4 years and decided to switch after seeing the gym and personally meeting the with staff at Physical Therapy San Pedro. The facility is very clean and the staff are all very welcoming, polite and easy to work with. I have been seeing Dr. D. for approx 2-3 months now for long term back and neck issues and I have to say I am feeling stronger and in less pain since I started working with him. He is very knowledgeable, encouraging and patient. Dr. D. does not just "give" you exercises - he "explains" the reasoning for them. That sounds silly, but it's really helpful to understand the why. I have a greater knowledge of my limitation but more importantly, a greater knowledge as to HOW to get stronger and maintain. My 13-year old son who plays basketball was experiencing knee pain. He was eventually diagnosed with two knee bruises that played a role in him developing Patella tendinitis. After weeks of pain, we scheduled an appointment at Physical Therapy San Pedro. Within a couple of sessions, the swelling and sensitivity were reduced. This is hands down the best PT spot around, exactly what san pedro needed. The Doctors and aides here are amazing. I literally had a broken back, L1 compression fracture. All I heard from other people was that I would never be the same again and this is something that will nag me forever. Blah blah.. Well Dr Brown and Dr P. assured me that wasn't true and as long as I did my stretches and core work outs I will be as good as new. I'm actually stronger than I was before the accident. I've had plantar fasciitis pain for almost a year, and after only 1 visit, I was able to get out of bed this morning with minimal pain. I've been doing the at home exercises and stretches for 5 days now and have already noticed a difference. I saw Dr. Palermo, and she really took the time to explain everything to me and answered my questions, without feeling rushed. I am a runner and she truly made me feel like she understands how important it is for me to start running again ASAP. I'm looking forward to my next session to learn more and get stronger. After my hip replacement, I needed to go to a rehab facility that would not just help me get better, but return me to where I was physically before my hip was ever a problem. I wanted my strength and mobility back, and this place proved to be the ticket. After an extensive evaluation by my therapist, I was placed on a program working with the therapist along with very capable and observant assistants to help me get back to being the stronger, more active individual that I was before. Constant oversight during my visits by either my therapist or the assistants as I performed my exercises helped me to perform them correctly, allowing me to improve at a steady pace. Constructive criticism and additional instruction was given when I needed it, and lots of praise was given when I performed my exercises well. The facility offers a complete array of weightlifting equipment and exercise machines to allow me to do any exercise that the staff feels I am capable of performing in the course of my treatment. The therapist and assistants possess a high level of professionalism delivered in a low-key manner, making tasks performed during therapy easier to complete without stress or anxiety. Office staff, proactive and efficient, are always there to cheerfully assist you with your appointments along with referral and insurance questions. I came in with sharp pain in my right shoulder while bench pressing and bicep (both) tendon pain. After 2 sessions, shoulder external rotation went from poor and restricted to amazing and mobile. As a powerlifter, I was able to achieve a great low bar placement while squatting, something I was never able to do! Currently working on addressing knee and abductor pain so I can comfortably squat. I am a 67 year old man and an avid scuba diver. Due to Covid, it had been a while since I had a diving opportunity. In October of 2021 I went diving in Mexico. I realized in that situation, I didn't have the flexibility that I enjoyed in the past. I decided I had to do something about that, and read the article about PTSP IN THE San Pedro Today. I went to the gym and was welcomed in and met a great group of therapists and clinicians. They put me through an extensive therapy/ exercise program twice a week for the last 4-1/2 months to improve my balance and flexibility.
