I brought my 14 year old daughter here because she had some hip pain from her dancing. They are doing amazing detective work finding out the roots of her problem and addressing her needs. I was having sharp pain in my hamstring that would linger for days after deadlifting. It got to the point that my favorite lift was becoming my least favorite. I cannot say enough good things about Physical Therapy San Pedro. I am a veritable connoisseur of physical therapy, and most of these places are BAD; they exist to scoop up your insurance money and puke you out the door. Physical Therapy San Pedro is different; it is PPO or cash pay, and it is easy to see why. Dr. Maile Bay is amazing. A graduate of USC's school of Physical Therapy, she has helped rehabilitate me from a mountain bike accident five years ago that annihilated my heel (fractured my calcaneus) and kept me from walking for 14 weeks. I have been to so many places that have tried ("tried") to help my range of motion and strength, but Dr. Bay has actually followed through. While I am not completely cured, I do not think a complete cure is possible. I've worked with two of the three doctors here for back and neck problems resulting from being rear ended and issues with arthritis (my boyfriend has been working with the third doctor). All three of the doctors and their assistants are super knowledgeable and so welcoming and friendly. Their goal is overall wellness instead of only focusing on the one single area where you have pain. They work with athletes and couch potatoes alike to reach personal goals. Dr. Brown for the freaking win!! ! I would recommend this place to everyone recovering from an injury. Dr. Brown is one of the few places in Southern California that service concussion patients using a complete Concussion Management specific program. I had back surgery in April and started following Physical Therapy San Pedro's Instagram page because I knew PT would be in my future. Was impressed with the content and decided to try them out. Great place to go for any type of rehab. I've been to rehab places a couple other times. They generally focused very narrowly on one specific area. These folks will focus on a specific injury or area but also consider everything related to the problem for a complete treatment plan. During my initial evaluation, I was asked not only about my specific issue but also about my overall fitness/activity goals. I am currently making progress on a long term neck/posture problem while learning how to incorporate lessons learned into the regular weight training I do. It's also noteworthy to point out that I'm well into my 60's and they are helping me to improve my alignment and stability so I can continue my weight training and fitness goals into the future. Everyone working there is very nice and very helpful. They make you feel like part of the family so a very comfortable environment. read more

My daughter is a gymnasts and when she broke her toe I needed to find a new PT to treat her since her previous PT moved out of state. I was referred to Dr. Brown and Dr. P from my sister. She said they are amazing and now I can say the same. I really needed someone that focused on her injury with full attention and this office gives each patient one on one service. This is a wonderful place. We were referred her by our physician Dr Edison and they were just awesome. So friendly, so accommodating and so helpful. My daughter is a dancer and they were super specific with her, all over zoom. And, like I said, they were just so darn nice on top of everything. She felt super comfortable with Dr Janae Brown and she was happy it was helping her dance strength. After sitting down and talking to Dr Brown and her awesome team, they gave me peace of mind on repairing my knee without surgery. Where do I even begin... I have nothing but great things to say about PT San Pedro. My friend highly recommended this place to me, and I am so glad I decided to invest in myself and treat my shoulder. I got injured while skiing and hurt my shoulder (torn labrum, shoulder impingement, and ACJ pain) almost 2 years ago. I bounced around different PTs before finding Dr P. She helped me regain my shoulder mobility, strength, and stability by picking apart my movement patterns and strengthening all the tiny muscles in the shoulder that we don't really think about. As a powerlifter, I was SO bummed when I first hurt my shoulder. I was experiencing so much pain-- I was ready to give up and resort to surgery. I never thought I'd be where I am today. I had really bad nerve damage through out my arms, hands, chest, legs, and feet. I was almost completely numb. I'm a musician and couldn't feel the strings under my fingertips and slowly stopped being able to move my fingers fast enough to play. It was awful and scary. Dr. Brown and her staff are pretty amazing! I'm recovering from back surgery and initially started seeing a physical therapist in Torrance but was disappointed in the attention I was receiving for rehabilitating my left foot which had dropped due to a herniated disc. From my first visit Dr. Brown began therapy to strengthen and rehab not only my left foot but also my core strength, balance, flexibility and back. It's now been 4 weeks of seeing her 3 times per week and I'm seeing results and feeling much better. Her therapy assistant Rachel is always cheerful and welcoming. I am very grateful for the hardworking team at PT San Pedro. I am a professional dancer and in Jan 2021 I broke my 5th metatarsal left foot. To avoid surgery I didn't put any weight or even move my foot while it healed. This ended up taking close to five months. When my bone was healed; I could barely move my ankle or balance on my foot from muscle and mobility loss. A neighbor recommended PT San Pedro. Thank you! Healing is a journey and I am so happy that I have this great team along with me. Dr.Brown is an amazing Physical Therapist. My daughter fractured her ankle which was very tough recovery because she is a competitive dancer and on her high school Song Team. Dr. Brown worked with her very patiently to get her slowly start to do turns, leaps and jumps. Dr. Brown is by far the best at what she does. I've been to a few therapists through the years and wish we would have known about Dr. Brown sooner. She communicates to parent very throughly so you know exactly how your kid is doing and how fast or slow their progression is coming along. She is very hands on which is very rare in busy physical therapy offices. My physician referred me to PTSP for some ongoing back pain last summer. I ended up working with the PTSP for about four months, focusing initially on just relieving back pain and then eventually helping me return to running without pain. I worked mainly with Dr. D but had a great experience with everyone, including the front desk and PT aides. When I started, it was hard to even stand for long periods of time. I was given some great at-home exercises and running specific exercises, which I continued even after my insurance stopped covering my visits (otherwise I would have gladly kept going forever for their expertise!). I ran a half marathon in October and successfully completed a half Ironman in December without pain, all thanks to working with PTSP and what I learned while seeing Dr. D and the others. I am now training for a full marathon and still pain-free. I highly recommend coming here; they will be the first place I call if/when I need PT again! read more

I found out about PTSP from a team mate through training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so needless to say my body gets twisted and turned a lot and I had originally went in for my back, I was the guy who always had tape all over my back and knees. Soon after seeing Dr.P and Dr. Brown, the tape was no longer needed, not only not needed for my back but my knees as well. After experiencing back issues and problems with balance a friend recommended that I check out Dr. Brown and Dr Palermo at Physical Therapy San Pedro. I had always been pretty active and suddenly found myself barely able to walk 100 yards and had problems climbing stairs. I first saw Dr Palermo in June and felt so hopeful after just one session. They work one on one with you and pay such close attention to your posture, movements, breathing which helped her notice minor issues that affected my movements. I'm now back to walking 3 miles several days a week and climbing stairs without the fear of falling. The entire staff is just wonderful. I can honestly say they have given me my life back. I first reached out to Dr Brown around January 2018 after what I thought was a shoulder strain from training Gracie Jiu Jitsu, and from the first time that we met I felt that she was knowledgeable, and attentive. My road to recovery wasn't straight forward, and we spent several months initially of treatment with the hope of me avoiding surgery, but ultimately that was the path that I ended up choosing. Dr Brown was supportive of my decision, and was able to help put me in a better position to recover post surgery because of the prior treatment. After surgery, I continued treatment with Dr Brown, and the surgeon was immensely impressed with my recovery, and within a few months I was back training again. She always showed a willingness to adapt and find different ways to replicate what I would do in training, and find ways to rehab, strengthen and treat as necessary. She provided me with exercises to help with my rehab, and she would definitely hold me accountable but in an encouraging and caring way. She was open to understanding what I go through as Jiu Jitsu practitioner, which was extremely important to me, given that it's not something that I've experienced before. I would say that she has assembled an amazing practice and team, and I would completely put my trust in her again should I have the need for PT.
