Dr. Henson is the OB-Gyne of 9 out of 10 expats women here in the Metro. I've first heard about her…read morewhen I was still in my country (Brazil) doing some research about doctors in the Philippines. After all, I would deliver my baby far from my family in a foreign land and I needed to find someone reliable to assist me. I've Googled some obvious key words like "good ob-gyne manila" and I've found a blog by a Brazilian woman who had lived in Manila some years ago. Thanks to the internet, people can share their experiences (hey, Yelp!). This woman was saying lots of great things about Dr. Henson, so I wrote down her name in my Moleskine. The plan was setting an appointment as soon as I arrived in Manila. That's what I did. I was 5 months pregnant, if I'm not mistaken. The first impression of her was very positive. She's very cool. And fashionable. She wears unique clothes. Actually, the first thing I've noticed when I entered the room were her signature glasses - thick, round and black, just like Harry Potter! By her clinic, you can also tell she's a design fan. She has miniatures of designed chairs as part of the decor. Ok, you may be wondering: "what doest it matter if a doctor is fashionable or not? I want to know if she's skilled!". I tell you: yes, she is VERY skilled. But she's also VERY talkative, so you have to make sure you talk too. I mean, make sure to find ways to make all your questions. I had a great experience with her, but I know some people just get stressed because they feel she's not listening to them. It's up to you. I've never had this feeling, though. She did a great job during my labor and delivery and my baby was born healthy and strong :) Another thing I like about Dr. Henson is that she always text you back when you send her some message. Being text friendly is something I really appreciate in a doctor. She replies really fast, what is great for anxious people like me. I usually go to St. Luke's, but she also has a clinic at Makati Med. Time Day at St. Luke's Hospital: M-Th 2-5 PM; F 9-12 NN Office number/Location 789-7700 L7125

I just don't like the feeling of waiting in hospitals, and you can't just leave and skip the checkup. Healthway Alabang is one of the best ambulatory healthcare providers I know. They have everything you need for your health needs; they can handle laboratory procedures and diagnostic imaging so you don't need to go to a big hospital if you need to have a blood test or an ultrasound done. They have a pharmacy as well. The waiting areas are comfy enough, but if you don't feel like staying there, the best part in this clinic is that it's inside Alabang Town Center, so you can do your shopping while waiting for your check-up (just make sure that you inform the doctor's assistant or the staff assigned so they can contact you when it's already your turn).

That means that colds,…read morefevers, coughs, and other common sicknesses get ignored and are only treated with bed rest and lots of fluids. That's just how we roll. But because of this, I've always kind of felt like getting a personal medical card would never really be maximized. This is the reason why I really appreciate Healthway. They have any kind of doctor that you'd need, and it's the type where you can just pop into the one nearest you. This particular branch gets pretty full, because it's the only medical facility in Town Center. But the nurses are all very helpful, and in my experience I've never had a doctor that seemed to be rushing me just because they had a long queue or because they're ready to go home. It's really the best outpatient facility around, so I highly recommend them.
Part of the struggle of being a diabetic is finding a doctor that you can trust. Here in Manila,…read moreone of the challenges of finding good Endocrinologists and Diabetologists is finding one who doesn't exclusively hold clinic in some far-flung, commute-inaccessible places, or doesn't exclusively hold clinic during workdays. Imagine my surprise when I found a doctor who is not only capable and competent, but also accessible. Dr. Eveleyn Paraan, at first, became my doctor simply because she has hours in STI Megaclinic, and said hours also fall on a Saturday. I happily went, not really expecting anything other than a sober and clinical handling of my condition, at most maybe a boot camp-styled doctor, making me do calisthenics and sing in cadence while jogging. What I got was a doctor who was all that, except she's more of the "warm bedside manner" doctor than the boot camp-y one. Oh, make no mistake, Dr. Paraan is all no-nonsense Endocrinologist, an obvious master in her field, but she also excitedly asks if you've been maintaining your diet and exercise, and actually visibly deflates when you say you fell off the wagon. Dr. Paraan is less cold doctor, more a confidant and a companion in your journey in diabeetus.

It is a well organized, efficient place. However, they do not have much equipment there, aside from x-ray. So for things such as ultrasound they refer you elsewhere. Also, the appearance of the place is slightly dilapidated. A lot of the furniture, ceiling panels etc. are in need of repair. The hygiene is not what it should be either. Their restroom lacks soap, toilet paper and paper towels and there are no dispensers for hand sanitizer for patients can use. You'd expect a higher level of hygiene from a medical facility.

I could not smile for 3 months, I have aged 10 years and this has caused severe psychiatric damage that has impacted my life and my will to live. This place is the devils work. I would give it minus stars if possible and wish to warn everyone . Beauty marketing is predatory, it doesn't matter if the are celebs that go here or that they are a high end clinic, please remember this is all just effective marketing so you can pay your hard earned money for them to take advantage of you and leave you to deal with the consequences. Thankfully, Dra Niza, as we like to call her, is not only an OB-GYNE but she is also a Sonologist and she specializes in high risk pregnancy. She took care of me and my baby at the start of my pregnancy up until I have given birth my son. Dra Niza is the best doctor that I have ever met because she explains everything in a manner that patients can understand. She uses visual aids such as her charts and apps from her phone and iPad which makes it easier for me to have a grasp of her medical explanations. She is also one of the few doctors who understand that patients have budget limitations. She would give us alternatives so we can save on some tests and procedures. She also maintains constant communication with her patients and she replies to SMS promptly. Should you need an OB-GYNE, I highly recommend Dra. Niza Reyes because she really takes care of her patients.

I had my…read moretransvaginal ultrasound at the Center for Women's Health Department at Asian Hospital and Dr Niza Reyes was the OB gyne at that time. I was requested to have antral follicle count on the 3rd day of my period by my OB gyne. At first, Dr Niza was gentle doing the procedure counting my multiple myomas and checking the condition of my endothelium. She was able to count my antral follicles on my right ovary with no pain. But when she was doing the count on my left ovary, I started to feel pain while she was moving the transducer (wand) inside my belly. The pain was excruciating like I was having my dysmenorrhea. I was breathing heavily and quietly to counteract the pain while Dr Niza was having a hard time to have the final count of my antral follicles. On the third time she moved the transducer and pressed it on my left ovary, I started to talk and wanted to ask her if the pain was normal. She didn't allow me to finish my question and instead told me in a high-pitched, sarcastic tone of voice, "Sorry! Pinapabilang yung follicles mo e!" I was so surprised with her reaction. I was not even complaining. I just wanted to ask if the pain was normal. I have no intentions of asking her to stop the procedure since I am aware that this test is needed. Tears fell on my eyes because of the pain and how insensitive Dr Niza Reyes was with her patient's feelings. I had my hysterosalpingogram and IUI before which were more painful and extensive but never received the same reaction and blame from my OB. To make things worse, the nurse handed me the wrong result (2nd/3rd trimester result of another patient). Good thing I opened the envelope and checked the result before leaving the department. Again if you're looking for an OB gyne especially in the south, Alabang area please do not even try having your check-up with Dr Ma Niza Bermudez Reyes who is moody and does not show sympathy and respect to her patients. There may be other doctors out there that hopefully will be more supportive.

But the travel time was taking its toll on him especially since he could not straighten his legs in the car that time. So we had to find a rehabilitation center that was near our place. We first went to this big hospital in Alabang, but aside from the fee being so steep, hubby did not like their service. They were contented with just giving him a few exercises, then strapping his knees to a machine for the remaining part of his session. So we ended up with Tokyo Healthlink, and hubby was really impressed. The place was quite small compared to other rehabilitation centers, but they had complete facilities and the physical therapists were really dedicated in helping their patients, pushing them to their limits. The fee they charge was also quite reasonable. If (knock on wood) you need to undergo physical therapy, I recommend this place in Alabang, and the proficient team of physical therapists there.
