    Carrot Cake & Nutella Tiramisu
    Susan L.

My partner and I went here for the Winterlicious lunch menu and it was super delicious and so so so filling. The portions were really substantial, the pasta was el dente and the flavours were well balanced. I find sometimes when you order ravioli, you never feel like you have enough, but this was definitely not the case here. We got 2 huge ravioli with lots of warm toasted focaccia to soak up the beautiful yolk. We were also pleasantly surprised with the carrot cake which was drizzled with a ginger anglaise and topped with a delicious vanilla soft sever and cone. The cake itself was super moist and well spiced. I would actually recommend this over the tiramisu. Our server was very attentive and the food all came out at a very nice pace. The restaurant itself is very spacious and nicely decorated. Definitely a perfect place for a romantic dinner or gathering with friends. Their menu also has a lunch special for $39 which is honestly comparable to the Winterlicious price. We definitely would come back and try some other stuff on their menu. The pizza that other people had looked epic.

Let me just start with the food. It is just simply delicious. The service was impeccable and the ambience is terrific. We were going right next-door to the Paradise theater so it was the perfect place to have dinner. The staff just could not have been more incredible and as you can see, we ordered everything and it just got better and better and better if you're in town run, don't walk to piano piano. This is great for dinner with friends on a date even solo Meals. You will not regret the decision to eat here.

Service was excellent, food was phenomenal and the ambiance was so relaxing. I can't wait to go back here! Had the lunch special 3 course meal which is very filling. I had Caesar salad - perfectly dressed with crisp pork belly and gorgeous focaccia croutons. Nova Scotia lobster pasta - lots of chunks of delicate lobster ina light tomato cream sauce. Salted caramel swirl ice cream which was such a perfect ending to the meal. Drink was the Balsico Mezcado - not too sweet, not too tart with a hint of flake salt and slight heat from the jalapeno agave. Will come back to try more dishes!

Decent place to go in the city. We loved the pink walls on the outside of the building. Everything we ordered was great and adding the truffles on top of the mushroom pizza was chef's kiss. Service was great too. She was friendly and attentive. Otherwise, nothing was outstanding. Good place to meet up with friends, casual date night, and good if you're not too picky.

A group of us bought the Black Friday special where if you bought a Piano Piano gift card for $200, you get a gift of $100! 3 of us totalled $390 (including 4 cocktails!). We planned our date night and since we were a large group, we had to do the family special. Let me tell you, I was skeptical about the portions, but wow! There was so much food and each dish was delicious! Each course was delightful and with a distinct flavour palate. I've attached the menu so you can see the list! A diamond in the rough, this restaurant opens up to a beautiful space! Nestled in a super shabby, run down area that they are effortfully trying to gentrify....the potential is there. But it also comes with limited, pricey parking. I quite enjoyed the atmosphere and food, but might go to a different location for my next visit due to the neighborhood.

Piano piano is no doubt a beautiful restaurant with amazing service but the food and well random kids using the restaurant to race back and forth was not a great dining experience. This is my third time eating here. The first time I thought the food was amazing. The second time it was alright and well this time I'm questioning everything. Was this place really that good? The taste of everything was just disappointing, the quality wasn't great as well. The roasted mushroom salad sounded delicious. It was completely gross. The texture and overall taste was not palatable. I didn't finish it. Now the pasta. The sauce was so thick and clumpy and the taste was ok. I ate the pasta but it really wasn't the taste I expected. The pasta overall wasn't disappointing but it just wasn't the best. The pasta was cooked properly which was a plus! I didn't finish this as well. The Nutella tiramisu. This was a huge disappointment. It did not taste like nutella. There was this chalky taste to it, not sweet. Just chalky. Overall, it was ok. I don't think I'll be back. I keep trying to re-live that first experience where I thought the food was amazing but sadly every single re-visit gets more and more disappointing.

My friends and I went here for winterlicious and we were very pleased with the experience! The decor and lighting give off a romantic and intimate vibe yet inviting due to the open space concept. The service was good. And lastly, the food was delicious and a generous portion! I got their special cocktail (72 and sunny) - earthy yet refreshing. The appetizer (burrata al campagnolo) was my favourite - the bread was toasted to perfection! The roasted grapes, garlic, and cheese combo was pure delight and there was mouthgasm with each bite. The chicken piccatta was ok - I wish there was a carb, not counting the breading. The Nutella tiramisu was yummy! A perfect balance of sweet and bitter and cream! Definitely a big bang for your buck and worthy of a visit winterlicious/summerlicious or not.

Food was pretty good. The menu has a nice variety. The service was lovely and the restaurant had a great low lit vibe. Good for a date. The restaurant plays nice music in the background. They carry Lambrusco which was a nice treat, it was good!! You cannot find Lambrusco at all Italian restaurants. Neighborhood was questionable in certain spots, unfortunately there were addicts on nearby corners.

Came here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. The concept and uniqueness of the business is what captivated me into coming here. We ordered the calamari, the veal and the Rigatoni & Meatballs and to end off with the tiramisu. All the dishes were good. I especially loved the tiramisu it's as authentic as the one I had in Italy. Service was good and attentive. Our server actually advised us not to order more cause the portion were huge. And we thanked him for being honest!

The pizza was a culinary masterpiece, boasting a perfect balance of thin, crispy crust and a flavorful medley of fresh ingredients. Each bite was a symphony of authentic Italian flavors, making it a must-try for pizza enthusiasts. While the pizza was undeniably outstanding, the service left a bit to be desired.

Delicious food. Loved that all the plates are shareable. We split two pasta dishes and a pizza across three people and left feeling full and satisfied.

It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

We had 3 good pizzas and salads. We always have good food and service. It is very comfortable.read more
