My friend and I came here for happy hour to try it out. Between the two of us, we got the mafalde e funghi and margarita pizza. Service was amazing, the servers were attentive and courteous when taking our order and bringing us the food. We were offered the chili oil which did not taste spicy at all. The pasta was so good, super creamy and rich with mushroom flavour. Pizza was just as good, it as cooked well and the crust was crunchy. For sure worth it for the happy hour price. A suggestion that was not worth taking~ We really wanted to love this restaurant, but it was a bit disappointing. When I mentioned that we dined here to one of the locals, she told us that this a tourist trap. I wish I knew this before making reservations. Sometimes where all the tourists go are not always the best. The restaurant is in a small house with 2 floors. The hostess brought us to the top floor but when I saw where we would be seated I asked to be sat downstairs instead. The ambiance is loud, but with an open kitchen concept which I really enjoyed since we had front row seats to the chef. It's a true Italian restaurant, one that you would probably find in Rome or another popular Italian city. Most of the waiters have an Italian accent which I loved. Our server Luka was nice but reminded me of an "order taker" and not an actual server. Trust me I know the difference. You know the servers that really have passion for what they do and they give you their full attention, suggestions, and go above and beyond with their service? That is a true server. We were not so lucky. We ordered an app. the Carpaccio di Manzo that was ok. We also ordered a bottle of their Valpolicella. For entrees, we shared a Margherita pizza and Bolognese. They were also ok. I remembered enjoying the pasta more since the pizza was extremely thin and a bit undercooked. For desserts, we shared their Cannoli which was good. They don't take reservations. Its walk in only but we had no trouble getting seated right away on a Friday at 6:30 pm. They didn't really rush us out either after we finished our meal. Service was good. Little slow as they got busier but our server was extremely friendly and made some great recommendations, even though we were always going to get those exact items lol. We got a Lambrusco and glass of white wine. The Lambrusco was the better choice. For good we got the bruschetta, risotto nervosa, and tiramisu. I wish restaurants served apps in even or odd portions based on your party size. I'm even happy to post for an extra bruschetta rather than having to split the 3rd. It gets messy! It was very tasty though. The risotto nervosa was heavy and had great flavor. The braised short beef was tender and well cooked. Easily shareable if you get another small dish. Be aware before u go - they can't accommodate ur dish. First of all, I love Italian foods. Pasta, pizza, and a good slab of mortadella sandwich are love of my life. Foods here were delicious (esp mafalde) except the risotto nervosa. Risotto nervosa was shockingly salty-even for me and i eat really salty compared to avg ppl. When we asked if they could make it less salty, the server brought it to the chef and delivered the chef's msg "we cook it this way and even we remake it, it'll be the same saltiness and cant be adjusted." Even cheaper Italian or brunch spots accommodate basic requests, but not here. We also ordered 3 diff dishes and were only given one serving utensil. Honestly, the service was the WORST l've experienced lately. We went to Bar Sugo for dinner after lunch at here, as u know Bar Sugo is much affordable and less fancier than this place and even Bar Sugo offered to accommodate our needs on their pizza (and we didnt asked for anything tho). From this experience, I'd not even want to give a 1 star bc of their amazingly poor SERVICE. My go to place for a self indulgent meal at the end of a long week. It's got a cozy second floor and a chattier first floor. I like the second floor better since the first floor can get pretty loud depending on the day. The servers always ask which floor if there's space and are always attentive throughout the meal. My favorite combination is the carpaccio with the focaccia bread. The pasta is always good but I always end up wanting more carpaccio, which is not on the takeout menu. Suggestion from a friend who lives in the area. Located in Yorkville and I was in the area and thought I would get dinner before going home. I didn't have a reservation but I was greeted and seated right away. I really wanted pasta. But the server suggested the risotto, so I got the risotto. The restaurant was busy, there is seating on the lower level and upper level. I actually liked the upper level better but I was seated on the lower level. They do have a nice patio but I'm scare of wasps so I opted to dine indoors. Service was quick. My meal came out quickly and was still hot! I have to say I was impressed by the portion. It looked small but it is a lot of food. The short rib was nicely cooked and flavourful and the risotto has a nice flavourful sauce. I really enjoyed it. I didn't finish it but the next day. It tasted even better. I find risotto tastes better the next day after the rice has time to absorb the sauce. I really enjoyed my dinner and the friendliness of the server. Knowing it would be hard to get a seat, I arrived at 5:30 PM and was fortunate enough to secure a spot upstairs, overlooking the glitz and glamour of Yorkville Ave. The menu offered many wonderful options, but I knew I wanted to start with a charcuterie board and follow it up with their fresh pasta Bolognese. Decided to find a nice patio for dinner in Yorkville, I swear. every other car I saw was either a Lamborghini, Corvette or a luxury European model. Didn't see one Tesla, lol. I guess climate change/carbon taxes are the furthest from their minds. They have a second floor patio, beware, it can get hot when the sun is shining. Ordered the funghi pizza and beef carpaccio. I went here on a weekday for a farewell dinner for one of my coworkers and had a great time on the upstairs area. This place doesn't take reservations but we were able to walk right in at 5:30 pm on a weekday (but I have heard it can get pretty busy)! Service was very fast as it wasn't busy. The seating was beautiful and very comfortable yet spacious - we sat upstairs. We got the following: - Mafalde al funghi: A signature dish - very very mushroomy and super rich. I honestly think this is a must-have here. The noodle texture really soaks up the sauce and you get a truffle-y, umami goodness in every bite! 9/10 - Lasagna: Personally I found the portion/presentation a little lacklustre but there's not much more you can do with a piece of lasagna. I didn't try it but my coworker said it was delicious and, despite looking small, quite filling. 8/10 - Rigatoni bolognese: Looked and tasted absolutely amazing, a pretty standard, no-fail dish. Lots of meat and the pasta was cooked perfectly. 8/10 - Chocolate cake: Very rich and very decadent. Not my preferred type of dessert, but if you like this, then it is very well done. I really enjoyed the pistachio gelato though! 7/10 - Tiramisu: Absolutely delicious. It's thick, creamy, but also very light. The mascarpone was perfect and the portion was huge which was a great surprise. We all shared it between the 3 of us and we all had a good amount. 10/10 - Sunshine punch cocktail: We got 3 of these and they were a great pair to have with all of our dishes! 9/10 Overall this place is great to stop by if you are craving Italian food in the Yorkville area. Yum! Having been to Italy twice, I would say this place is pretty comparable. Definitely one of my favourite Italian places and my go to for pizza/pasta in the GTA. We went around Monday afternoon (holiday) and got a table on the rooftop with no wait. Ordered the funghi pasta and Regina margarita pizza - both were *chefs kiss*! Funghi pasta 5/5 - the perfect al dente and every bite was so flavourful, loved the mushrooms as well. I'm not a fan of thick creamy pastas but this was perfect for me. A few friends have told me that Nervosa is the best Italian in town, and I've been wanting to try it forever but they don't take reservations so you have to time things right. Turns out, Nervosa lives up to the hype. But what I didn't know is that they're owned by the same group as Gusto 101 and Gusto 501, so some of the dishes are the same, and the food is fantastic. We started with the margherita pizza, and it was everything you want in a great pizza - the perfectly charred crust, nice chew on the dough, and the sauce hit just right with the perfect amount of tang and sweetness. After that we got their classic truffle mushroom pasta and rigatoni bolognese which were both delicious. They also had some great bottles of lambrusco (sparkling red wine) which helped craft the perfect summer vibe on their patio. We checked out Trattoria Nervosa in Yorkville, I was expecting nasty expensive prices but surprisingly it was pretty on par with places like Gusto Here's the verdict: Mafalde Al Funghi - I actually think this has the right amount of creaminess, I think Gusto's can be a bit too creamy. So this hits good in terms of creaminess, however, it could definitely be more tastier. There also wasn't enough mushrooms compared to Gusto. All in all, pretty decent Mushroom pasta & I would def have it again - lowkey a comfort food of mine Rigatoni Bolognese - huge portions, the usual expectation you can have for a bolognese dish, could have more sauce tho! Tiramisu - again, another huge plate! My friend and I shared the beef carpaccio and an order of artichoke bruschetta, which was OK but my god, the fishbowl stemmed wine glasses filled with ice, containing each of our different "specialty" gin cocktails were downright disgusting. How do I even begin to describe the cheap tonic, the zero detection of gin, bitter ice water, that each of us had? I took one sip and left the rest. The pine nuts paired decadently with the lemon dressing. We then split both the risotto nervousa and the mafalde al funghi, which we were told were two of the best selling items. The mafalde al funghi has a delightful sauce, and the mushrooms were tender. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The risotto was very delicious, and the herbs allowed a lightness that isn't typically found in risotto. My one suggestion would be adding little more balsamic reduction to the dish. These dishes would have perhaps been more satisfying on a cold winter day, though we enjoyed them in the summer heat. read more

Was surprisingly busy for a Thursday night, my friend and I waited for 40 minutes to get a table and since it took us *6* minutes to get there (we were given 5 minutes to return after receiving a text), our table was given to someone else. Once we finally got a table, we got some food (as one does). I got the Mediterranean Pizza, which was fine and not very flavourful. I feel like I could have gotten something similar from Pi Co for less $. We also tried the Risotto Nervosa, which was small in size and quite unremarkable. I'm not a chef by any means, but I've cooked Mushroom Risotto that tasted similar. For dessert we got Tiramisu, which was pretty good. It was just sweet enough and I enjoyed the creamy part on top. We sat upstairs which was a bit crowded, but cozy. It is inevitable to have someone bump into you at least once while sitting. Overall, not a bad place for some Italian fare, but you will have to wait 30+ minutes to get a table and likely drop $40+ for a decent meal. read more

Came here for dinner for 1 on a weekday after work. The place was relatively busy but service was still quick to sit and take my order. It had a very fun old Italian vibe and I'll probably be back to try other dishes. Have to keep it at 4 for now since I only had one thing but happy to update after the second meal. I had an aperol spritz which was an aperol spritz so no complaints there. I ordered the Mezzi Rigatoni Bolognese and what I got was nothing short of great. The pasta had a great bouncy texture and the sauce was rich and decadent. I threw on some hot pepper flakes and that elevated the bolognese even more. my friends have always said this is a good restaurant and have had some nice experiences at this restaurant but today was one of the most horrible experiences I have had At any restauran. The staff which was attending to us (I later found out was in training) first, one staff member threw the bag at the table when we requested a take away bag then no less than 3 times without asking tried to take my plate and glass away. I had to repeat myself that I am not done because my friends are and I didn't ask for my plate and glass to be taken away. The manner at which the staff was treating us was less than cordial like they wanted to get over with the job at hand and no interested in being polite. This being said I didn't tip them for my meal because I don't think their service deserved a tip. As we were leaving One other server or their supervisor came up to me loudly said why didn't you tip us what was the reason so the whole restaurant heard I didn't tip them trying to shame me (keep in mind they have always had generous tips previously and this day as well from my friends except from me) When I told them why I didn't pay the tip this time she was exceptionally rude but accepted that the staff is in training and they need to have a team meeting. I said twice to make sure the persons job is not affected but this is my feedback and maybe they should train staff more before allowing them to tend to guests. She was insisting that I pay them a tip and here is the thing, why should I tip horrible service. I am not obligated to tip staff for not doing their job. The tip is my appreciation for hosting me well. I am so upset that the staff is demanding a tip when they did nothing to deserve it this time. (All new people btw I found out later ) they are not entitled to a tip especially when they have done nothing to deserve it. Then calling a guest out loudly to explain themselves why they didn't tip! INSALATA DI CAVOLO NERO (lacinate kale, zante currants, toasted pine nuts, shaved pecorino, parmigiano, lemon vinaigrette) was recommend by the waiter as it is very popular. No big deal. Nice but not that impressive. RISOTTO NERVOSA (barolo braised beef short rib, local field and porcini mushrooms, truffle, fig balsamic reduction). Not that great. Supposedly one of their best dishes.
