I have a sore tooth and went in, after they inspected my mouth they determined there is nothing wrong with the tooth but that may be coming down with a cold. I had an absolutely LOVELY experience at my first appointment at Picacho as a new patient. If you're in the market for a new dentist, I broke down some details about my visit that might help you make an informed decision in choosing Dr. Lemmon. Having been to several different dentist offices over the years, you start to notice the differences and can tell when a place knows what they're doing. First off, they offer a digital experience. The website is actually up-kept and useful. You can request an appointment via the website, and they actually receive and respond to it (I've had many businesses that just ignore online things and only respond if you call). Additionally, you can fill out all your paperwork on the website, so when you arrive at your appointment it's already there and ready to go. Gone are the days of sitting in a lobby with a clipboard, filling out actual papers with a pen. This is also very efficient and a good use of time, because this allows the office to review your info before you get there, rather than briefly scanning it as they're walking you down the hall to your appointment. Every single staff member I came across was professional, competent, and friendly - on the phone, in person, and they even responded to my text one time! I think it's important to mention they are not that "fake friendly" that you get some places, but genuinely like they're enjoying their day and have the capacity to be pleasant to you. You can kind of tell the hiring style of different businesses, and whoever is in charge of the hiring here clearly knows what they're doing. Another thing that stood out was how they actually seem to schedule enough time for each patient (I know, gasp!). They took time to actually ask relevant questions before my checkup/cleaning started, and had some good ones I hadn't heard before, like "What's most important to you with your teeth/treatment?" and "Do you like to know the details or just want to hear the bottom line?" ...Like, someone really put thought and care into every detail of running this practice! I was very impressed. Then, when the Dr. Lemmon came in, the Hygienist, McKenzie, very accurately briefed him with a summary of my concerns and how I'd like to be treated. Having had multiple hygienists poke and prod around in my mouth throughout my lifetime, the experience has varied. But today's cleaning was the BEST cleaning I've ever had in my life. I have very sensitive teeth, and this is the first time I've had a cleaning where they actually remember which teeth to be extra gentle on. It is clear that the staff here are more educated and competent in their given areas than other offices I've been to. Hygienist McKenzie easily answered all my questions, enabling me to take better care of my un-renewable resource (teeth & gums). You can see that tooth stuff is her jam, and she lit up when talking about it. That is what you want when entrusting someone to dig around in your mouth! Dr. Lemmon is also clearly good at what he does. He caught things on mine and my kid's x-rays that other dentists have never noticed or explained. He got leftover residue from Invisalign attachment off my tooth in about one minute, that the last office had told me would just have to stay on my tooth forever because they couldn't get it off. And when speaking to him, you get the feeling that he actually cares what you have to say, how you feel, how your experience was in the past and wants to improve it in the future. He did all this in just a couple minutes. But might I add, a couple very un-rushed minutes. There was never the feeling that he needed to hurry up and get on to the next person, and genuinely wanted to make sure any questions or concerns you had were answered. My kid and I had back to back appointments and we had to wait for a couple minutes - but after realizing the reason for the wait was because the dentist actually gives his patients the time of day, I was perfectly fine with that and will appreciate any wait time in the future for that reason. They actually educate patients, instead of herding us through as fast as possible to get an extra buck. I learned several things today, which is also something I didn't know I wanted from a dentist. There isn't much education about dental health, anywhere, I've realized. Just maybe the little comments while you're laid back in a chair with your mouth open, which isn't very helpful. This office actually sat down to explain the why and the how. I appreciated that. Thank you Picacho Family Dental! I had a chipped tooth and Dr. Hopkins saw me, who told me straight to the point on what I needed to get fixed. She only addresses my main concern. She was super friendly and always ensure I'm comfortable at the clinic. The staffs are extremely friendly as they showed me the clinic before seated me into a room. Shelby was the assistant who helped me through all the process and was very kind/helpful to put me at ease as I'm terrified of the dental office. Dr. Hopkins was extremely efficient and works with my work schedule. The only thing I have a complaint about was the office staff misplaced my bite impression that I'm hoping to get here on time by end of this month, which might've delayed the process. read more

In all of the years I have been losings teeth and I have had at least 14 to 16 extractions I have NEVER, until now, had a Pain FREE extraction. Doc. Hopkins made my personal first experience with the Picacho Family Dental a Great one. No pain at all with the needle for Novocain No pain at all with the surgical extraction of a upper rear molar No pain after at home. as of now, it has been 24 hours since the extraction, the site of the extraction has it's plug set and I do not expect any complications. I have taken my 85 year old father to Picacho for a bridge when he lost a front tooth and an extraction and bridge removal when he had a very old bridge fail. we both find that Doc Lemmon and Doctor Hopkins are wonderful knowledgeable and expert dentist. Their front office, and assistant have been nothing if not professional and friendly, they even Talk to you... not just about the work or fees but treat you like a real person. we are happy with the work and the people. I've been terrified of dentist and because of that my teeth are falling out and now I have to pay for next taking care of my teeth. I made an appointment but the woman had me down for them to take care of one tooth but I wanted a consultation on permanent dentures. They were kind enough to honor my request. I've never felt so comfortable in a dentist chair in my life. The assistant, I'm sorry I can't remember his name but he was still training and I was happy that I was able to help him learn. It took 2 hours bur didn't seem like it because they were so thorough, I hope I'm able to have work done there as the dentist who'll do the work was so calm and knowledgeable, I really trust he'll do the right thing. He was also the best looking dentist I've had too. The staff provided Customer service with a smile and they're obviously there to do what they're paid for.....assisting the customer with a smile and always willing to provide anything the customer needs to make their visit as pleasant as a dentist appointment can be. The owners should be proud and the Dad of the assistant should be proud of his son following in his foot steps. I don't normally give 5 dtars but they deserve it. Update... my daughters treatment plan has been finished. 1.) My daughter was super nervous (from a previous experience with a different dentist) but Dr. Lemmon's dental assistant was very gentle which made my daughter extremely comfortable. 2.) Dr. Lemmon came in shortly after and started administering anesthetics. He started to work on her. He did reassure my daughter if she felt any type of pain to immediately let him know by raising her hand and that he'll fix it right away. That reassurance made her relaxed even more. Major pointer... to my surprise Dr. Lemmon let's parents sit in the same room to keep our children company wile he works on them!!! WOW, you have no clue how safe she felt (not because she mistrusts Dr. Lemmon; her feelings were because of her past experiences with others dentists). Bottom line; Dr. Lemmon helped my daughter immensely to gain her trust back on dentists. He also stayed within our estimated treatment plan and that made my pockets very happy. read more

I am so glad we found Picacho Family Dental! I went today for my first cleaning with them and was treated so well from when I first checked-in I was greeted by Leslie who was super friendly and gave me an office tour of the officand told my a little history of the office. Being new to Yuma I found this very helpful because it made me feel more comfortable with my decision of giving them a try. My hygienist Jazmin was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly as well, she was super sweet to my 2 year-old whom I had to take to the appointment with me. She kept on talking to my daughter and it made me feel so calm because it's not easy to do get out with a 2 year-old but she was so patient with her, this meant a lot to me so thank you Jazmin!!! I like Dr. Lemmon and trust his advice, but over the last year his office staff quality has decreased. His former office manager seemed to be the key to his office running smoothly and insurance being billed correctly and since she left the office is not as smooth. The office itself is very nice with everything you need for a full cleaning, x-rays, and procedures in house. They even offer iv sedation if laughing gas isn't enough for your nerves. read more

I was visiting Yuma when I experienced a dental emergency. I got instructions from my dental insurance about what to do since I was out of network, and I started calling dentists. They were actually the third practice I called, and they listened to me about what was necessary with my insurance. (They needed to do a little extra paperwork to verify it was an emergency) They were pleasant about doing the paperwork, pleasant to deal with, and happy to help me. I ended up getting the tooth extracted, and the dentist, Dr. Lemmon did a fantastic job of making sure I was numbed up enough and getting it done quickly and relatively painlessly. I moved to Yuma a couple of years ago, and had not decided on a new dentist in my area since my previous dentist was in Sacramento, CA. I found Picacho Family Dental, and I am very happy with my visit. The staff I was introduced to were great. They were very polite and friendly. My dental hygienist Kendra, was awesome! I get very nervous and shaky when I visit the dentist, so this time was no different, but Kendra really made me feel at ease. She talked me through everything that was going to take place during my visit, and made sure that I understood everything from why specific things happened to my teeth and what could be done to fix it. I never felt rushed, or confused about any of the procedures or details about my visit. Dr. Lemmon was also great! Really made me feel comfortable and made sure I understood what his recommendations were and any other options I had. We come up with a plan of action and I've never felt better leaving a dentist office :) read more
