The Atmosphere: The restaurant has an attractive modern interior, with lots of high table seating and a few regular tables. There appears to be a room for private events in the back. The servers are friendly, and they seem to pick interesting staff, our server always has a great personality. This is a great place to meet up with friends or have a casual date - this spot has a smart-casual vibe amongst the diners. The Food: We love the food here - its got a lot of authentic Latin elements with creative modern touches applied with a Chefs knowledge of flavors. They also have some vegetarian choices which can make it easy for a mixed crowd to eat together. Two tacos make for the perfect between meals snack. During lunches, you can get them with a soup and salad, which makes for the ideal lunch light. The more substantial fare includes burgers and sandwiches, or rice and beans. The menu does change here are a few more detailed notes: Tuna Tostadas: We hope this never leaves the menu, we could just sit and eat plate after plate of these all night. Tostadas are tortillas fried until crunchy than topped with anything one's heart desires. They topped it with Ahi tuna, full-flavoured and fresh and served raw, tossed in ponzu (a sauce made with Japanese citrus fruits), and laid on top of creamy chipotle mayo. Piled on are lovely strips of roasted, earthy tasting, mild poblano peppers, and charred leeks ad a lot of nice warm notes. Pickled chayote highlight the Latin nature of the food, this is a type of squash found in South America with a cucumber-like texture. $8.88 The Tortillas: While they don't make their own tortillas in-house, they're absolutely marvelous. Very much the same texture and flavor of the ones we had homemade in Mexico. Horchata: Horchata is a beverage made by soaking rice and then spiced with things like cinnamon. We love this drink, have buckets of it when we travel in Latin countries and sometimes make it at home. Unfortunately, it's way, way too sweet here, more suitable as a dessert beverage or something for the kids to enjoy. Excellent hip and tasty Mexican Food with its own style. It doesn't taste just like the streets of Mexico City, but it's awesome in its own right. They make their own salsa, chorizo, chipotle style hot sauce, and their ingredient quality shows. Also a gorgeous location with tons of windows and very kid friendly during the day (a HUGE plus and rare for a hipster trendy spot.) Great service, local coffee, solid cocktails, I could go on. Simple beef tacos are simply perfect! Definitely try the house hot sauce more flavour than heat and it is very hot. I'm taking a bottle home. The cocktail was unlike anything I'd ever had, a coffee tequila with a ginger lime juice and cinnamon sugar rim there was something else that I can't remember lol I only had one!! I would say zero stars. Sat. July 3 at 3:30 I did a "pre-order" $300 order to feed a large group, including young children. Skip the dishes was to deliver it between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. At 5:15 Skip the Dishes cancelled the order because the restaurant was not responding to confirm the order. I phoned constantly for 20 minutes but Picaro did not answer the phone. All websites, including their own Instagram says they are open July 3 from 5 pm. to 10 p.m. I sent a message to them on Instagram, which they also ignored. We have not heard from them (now 7:22 p.m.). By the way they are posting new cocktails on their Instagram account during this time. Clearly they DO NOT care about customers. Message to Picaro on their Instagram at 5:34 pm - "What is going on? We paced a $300 "order ahead" order through Skip the Dishes. They didn't hear from you so they cancelled the order. I am phoning constantly to your restaurant and no one answers" Still no reply from the restaurant. ZERO STARS - Do not support this restaurant!!! read more

Wonderful Latin cuisine in a spacious setting. Items were creative while still being true to some Mexican/Latino traditional items. The chicken skin chicharon was fantastic! Delicious craft cocktails and plenty of inventive nonalcoholic drinks as well. For dessert we tried the churros. They're to die for and perfectly done. Service was wonderful - very friendly staff. It's a new must-try in Saskatoon. Hope they find success with their menu! read more

This was the worst food I've ever spent money on. They brought our fry appy out cold and stale within a minute, tried the fried chicken skins, disgusting. Our chicken tacos sucked. Lots of favours! I highly recommend happy hour where the Margarita's are strong and $8 as well you can order single tacos (ordinarily they come in pairs) for $4ea. We tried all the different kinds and preferred the shrimp and/or beef ones. I was disappointed in the lack of flavor with the vegetarian/jackfruit taco. The best part of the meal was an unusual dessert: chocolate banana tart with matcha and avocado. Good food at reasonable prices-- during happy hour. read more

Always amazing ! I have never had anything from here that I didn't absolutely love. This place definitely puts in the time to source the freshest ingredients and even ensure the food is beautiful in colour. My favourite being the tacos, the flavours are incredible in every single one and always made to perfection. The cocktails are all uniquely crafted and delicious you can't help but chat with the staff that creates them. It's very obvious the employees here enjoy their jobs as they are all extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable of the menu. It's safe to say that I will make a point to visit Picaro every time I'm in Saskatoon. read more

Mushroom tacos were tasty! Corn dip pretty good. The chicken and fish faco were subpar. I would eat there again.

Their fish tacos are delish!!! So well balanced. The fish is battered with cornmeal. It's a beautiful consistency- and not greasy. The toppings are fresh, citrusy with a hint of spice. It's a party on the palate. The kale salad is crisp and refreshing. A lovely way to open your appetite. The soup is also nice. Smoky with a hint of fresh herbs. I got all three with their $15 lunch special. Will mos def be back. Saskatoon knows solid Mexican food! read more

Went here with my husband! We were craving something Mexican, thought this would be nice. Very small hipster joint, I feel not up to food standards because two of the waitresses had animal fur in their clothing and it entered my drink.... Quite gross... waitresses also were very lacking and their hygiene was not up to standards. Husband got the chips and the fun dips which were nice but the peanut one did not have spice like it said. Also got the papaya salad- which had NO papaya!!! They didn't feel the need to mention what they were out of stock of... Felt cheated because I LOVE PAPAYA and there was one to be found :(!!! The tables we were seated at were wobbly and really close to other tables, hard to have some privacy, but maybe that's not what this place has in mind. Husband felt the tortilla chips were not salted enough, also felt the dips that it came with felt lacking in their own way, nothing was above average... They all lacked heat. We were really looking forward to the tacos... we chose the chicken option but the chicken was over cooked and too tough to chew... maybe we got unlucky on the timing and the day we chose to be there... but we had high hopes... but shall not be returning :( read more

The food is good. I had the chicken tacos and customised it. No mushrooms, no árbol salsa and no charred corn. Added pico de gallo and boy oh boy was it good. The problem? The reason for the 3 star? The server. Holy smokes my food was sitting in the chefs counter (in front of me) for good 5 minutes before the server decided to walk over to me and check my water!?? What the fuck. These managers need to get better servers. read more

Great little place with awesome and different food! So good! The only complaint we would have is the excessive amount of pet hair found on our napkins and utensils. Our waiter's shirt was covered in hair...might be an idea to have a dress code for staff and make sure they are clean when coming to work with food and the public. read more
