Three of us came for a "spur of the moment" dinner. We ordered a Nachos Supremo Grande to share and two Chimichanga's that ended up being packed up and taken home. The nachos were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. They came with all the right mix of condiments and we're devoured with much gusto. The service was average but at least friendly. We got chicken enchiladas and beef burritos for takeout. The burrito was amazing! Such good flavors, came accompanied with black beans, Mexican rice, and sour cream. The enchiladas were not as tasty unfortunately. Less flavorful, but quite healthy. It needed more flavor and some spice.. I would definitely come back for the burritos for sure! read more

The food is very good, I really like the burritos but the veggie burger is probably one of the best veggie burgers in the city. The place is nice but it does tend to get noisy/busy and the service is good, they aren't as attentive as some places but they make sure the basics are done. read more

In town visiting family and was surprised to see that so many of the reviews for this place were several years old so I figured I should add a new one for those of us who rely on Yelp. The food is solid and the service was good. I had the Cesar to drink because it's Canada and when in Rome... it was much better than the Cesars I remember of my youth, I loved the peppered rim, very nice touch. For my meal I chose the Huevos Rancheros, the portion was huge, far more than I could eat, and it was very tasty. The tomato salsa added a really nice fresh flavor. My family had the club sandwich, a quesadilla and their well dressed hot dog. Everyone seemed content with their meals and almost every bit was eaten. This is one of my Uncle's favorite spots in town and I can see why. It's comfortable and the food is good. read more

Amigos is our go to. Always delicious. Staff are wonderful and consistent. Shows are awesome. A great staple in Saskatoon.

Things to realise about Amigos: 1. The food *is* tasty, but comes with a disclaimer: only before 7pm. The chefs in the hours that follow are neither good nor trained, and will not be serving the highest quality of Mexican cheer. BUT the grub is bomb when the chefs are on. Gushing guac, oozing cheese, varying levels of spice -- pick what you will and be satisfied. This is not just bar eats. This is real, for real, Mexican fare. BONUS: a mostly vegetarian menu means that no friend will be harmed. 2. Though Saskatoon is mostly always overlooked when a band comes through, Amigos is pretty much the only acceptable venue in town for those who do. The sound guy is deaf (literally, dude-man is deaf in one ear), and the space itself isn't conducive to highest tonal quality, but the staff and patrons make up for it. Rad people. Fun times. Almost always guaranteed. 3. It gets LOUD on the weekend. Don't be surprised. We're here to have fun, so why not join in? A place I spent countless and endless nights in my early 20s, a fixture in what was the quintessential Broadway scene of the past, Amigos is what most think of when they say that Saskatoon has some of the raddest, most friendly and most real people in all of Canada. I really liked Amigos when I visited Saskatoon. In Toronto, I feel our Mexican food scene sucks. My boyfriend and I split nachos to start and that was a meal in itself! They weren't lacking toppings. In fact, we had left over guac, sour cream and salsa for our mains. He had the chicken soft taco, I went with a chicken enchilada. We were both happy and completely stuffed. The plates are huge! The service was quick, our server was nice and I liked how dingy it looked in day time. Every Mexican food joint I've loved has always been dark and dank, just the way I like it. read more

Another cuisine that I was looking forward to eating while I was in Saskatoon due to its absence in Regina: Mexican. Came to this place twice during my 2 months here. First time, I shared their supreme nachos with a friend - absolutely loaded platter, we couldn't finish it between the two of us, garnished very well and served with multiple salsas. Definitely a worthwhile shareable. The second time, we came for a team dinner. This time I got the ancho chicken enchilada. Served with beans and sauce, the presentation is quite nice. Where the dish disappoints is the filling of the enchilada. The spice profile is very simple and on the bland side and the chicken seems like it came out of the "canned chicken" products from the grocery store. It did not taste like pulled chicken prepared fresh at the restaurant. Their food certainly looks very good and the restaurant has a fun atmosphere, but the food could be a lot better. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants and easily the best live music venue in Saskatoon. Dark, dingy, and very tasty.

I don't understand why people seem to love this place so much. True, it is a great music venue, and a pretty chill place to have a drink, but the food is terrible! I would suggest sticking with the nachos (which are tasty, because they can't be ruined), or order an entrée when you have had plenty, plenty to drink. I have had the..opportunity?....to eat both their burrito and quesidilla (which was basically two burritos, with a little bit of cheese on top). Both were the vegetarian option which contained olives (I don't get it) and a side of what seemed like canned pork and beans (I don't get that either). Service is hit and miss but that is no longer my biggest issue with the place. My husband and I were both horribly ill after eating there (let's just say our symptoms led me to believe the cooks don't wash their hands after using the bathroom). I had gone to Amigo's countless times before ever realizing they served real food.. once I discovered that, it became a favorite lunch spot right away. The mexican food is top-notch and very good value too. The Amigo's atmosphere is acceptable to me because it is familiar. If you are new to Amigo's, set your expectations very low as the place is really akin to a hole-in-the-ground. There's usually some interesting prints on the walls though. Also keep in mind that the place is a bar.. so if you go late, don't expect a quiet dining experience. read more

I am not giving this restaurant a good review which is a little sad for me because I have not been in here for a while and the place was great last time. I went there for supper tonight taking my 2 young adult children for the first time. Unfortunately we waited almost an hour for our food the waitress never refilled our water or asked if we would like a second drink throughout the entire hour wait. My daughter had ordered an appetizers platter, it came after my son and I had gotten our meal and was cold. the meals my son and I had were both cold and came out about 10 minutes before my wife's meal. We did get our water glasses refiled about 15 minutes into the meal but they never did ask if we wanted another drink. The restaurant was going to take our plates back but already an hour and 10 minutes into supper time and only 1/2 hour left before the kids had to get going for the night, we could not reorder and wait longer so we ate what we could and left the rest. In fairness the restaurant did give us a discount of about 25 $ off the bill. The sad thing is both my son and daughter have decided not to return and it is used to be a good place, maybe still is but I could not recommend it any longer and I used to tell everyone about it. read more

Fun venue, good shows. Food's decent when it finally arrives. Service is really lousy. I've eaten here twice and its taken over an hour for my meal each time. During shows there isn't enough service at the bar (or on the floor) and the line is ridiculous to try to get a drink. The bartenders are oblivious to who is standing in line, I was waiting with my friend at the front of the bar and he took her order but completely ignored that I was standing there too! The owners should get beer tubs so that people can get drinks faster during shows (hint hint). Also, when the kitchen is slow, the waitstaff should tell customers before ordering! Last time I was there we waited an hour for food before the waitress came over and told us there was a big group in the back and that's why it was slow. If you know you have a big group, you should let people know before ordering that there's a big wait! read more
