I hadn't been to Picasso and Wine in years and recently went back -- such a fun experience! It's really entertaining to attempt to be artistic, even if you're not naturally gifted. The atmosphere is upbeat with fun music playing, and they even encourage you to sing along while you paint, which adds to the whole experience. Super late review but I loveeeeeeeeee this place. I went here for my birthday and we had a ton of fun! We ended up painting a palm tree scene and the directions were clear with some 1 on 1 if you need help or have questions. They have snacks and great drinks. I really debated whether or not to write this as I felt my experience was rather unpleasant. I received a gift certificate for a holiday gift. My hubby isn't the crafty/painty kind so I wanted to treat a friend. I had never been to P&W (this comes into play soon) so I booked online. I booked the bar table based on the thumbnail I saw on the website & because it matched the amount if the gift cert, and was a little higher priced than the other options, I thought it must be a nicer option. When I arrived, my guest had beat me there and grabbed us 2 seats in the main room. Again, I had never been there so I wouldn't have known where main vs bar seats were. My guest & I talked about drinks and I said something to the effect of "I think what I booked for us included our first round?" and that's where the nice gal tending bar said I must have booked the bar table, which was not in the main room where my guest had grabbed paint & seats for us. I told my guest wherever she wanted to sit was fine, but the owner was super shitty about it. When I said I'd never been there before, her response was "there was a photo of it on the website". Mkay, I can take a photo of my dining room table but you wouldn't know where that is near or far from my kitchen unless you'd been to my house. Then she argued that it shows the rooms on the website. Again, lady, I've NEVER BEEN HERE! How is that even a decent way to approach someone who has said now 3 times that I've never been here before?!?! Just change your tone & say sorry for the confusion, you're welcome to sit wherever - it wasn't a full class AT ALL - there were maybe 10 people attending. If I was alone I would have left. The rude owner made me feel unwelcome & talked down to me like I should have known better based on the time thumbnail photos on the website. The bright part of the evening was that the instructor was lovely, the music was great, the drinks were tasty, and the painting was fun. I had a good time painting with my guest and tried to shake off the owner's nasty attitude, but she kept going out to smoke cigarettes on the porch with the door open! So about 3 times during the paint sesh, the entire gallery room filled with the smell of her cigs!!! Just gross. Gross, gross, GROSS. Apparently, smoking wouldn't be allowed inside the studio, but that didn't stop her bad habit from infringing on guests' experience. Overall, her attitude was a major red flag, and if it hadn't been a gift, I would have bounced and asked for a refund. I personally wouldn't be interested in returning and giving another $ to someone who treats customers like that. I mentioned I'd debated writing, but I had shared my experience with someone who works with P&W as a vendor and she said the owner is shitty to pretty much everyone, so here's my experience. I've been to Picasso and wine a few times, and it's always nice to come back and work on a new painting with friends! This most recent experience was a bit annoying, because we spent the first 15 minutes of class waiting for others to show up. Also, pay attention to the bar menu, they automatically charge 18% gratuity when using a credit card to pay (I didn't know this). We went over on time, and were rushed towards the end because we had to keep waiting for others to show up that hadn't showed up to the class on time. Studio was clean, so that was nice! Such a great experience!!! My husband surprised me with this activity for Valentine's Day. He usually avoids these kinds of activities but he said he had a lot of fun. It was super easy to follow along and the lead painter made sure to space it out so people had time to catch up or hit the bar. It was a full house and we still had a lot of space. Get in touch with your artistic side at Picasso & Wine! This was my second paint and sip; my first being at Pinot's Palette. When we arrived, we noticed how cute and well kept their front outdoor patio was. Inside was no different; you're greeted with the bar straight ahead in front and if you head to the right, you'll find all the easels set up for that evening's class. Towards the back, there was a counter with paint jugs and instructions for which colors and how much pumps to take. Like Pinot's Palette, Picasso & Wine walks you through with step by step instructions for that evening's painting. They use acrylic paint, so just be sure to not get any of that on your clothes. It's not the end of the world if you do get a smidgen on yourself for it can be removed. The painting for that evening was titled "Release the Universe!" where a clear jar was spilling out a galaxy onto a black canvas. Our instructor was friendly, excited and very funny throughout our class session. She made sure we had enough time to finish before moving onwards with the next step. She also answered any questions we had if we were behind or felt flustered. She made us newbies felt encouraged and honestly my final result turned out much better than I originally thought it was going to be! Here's a tip from me: Don't be afraid to add your dash of creativity; something to make your painting truly yours. There's definitely nothing wrong with simply following the instructor either. Toward's the halfway point, there'll be a small intermission break to let your painting dry before moving on with the last half of the class. We utilized this time to get ourselves a drink (we decided not to get one in the beginning). My roommate got a glass of Reckless Love and I, their Chocolate Martini. It was a successful night as all of our paintings looked stunning! We also had such a great time. We had such a FUN Digital Date Night with a Free Online Class offered by Picasso & Wine. We found the painting class via Social Media for a Friday date night option with all of the instructions posted. You had the option to order painting kits from them with or without brushes (here's a link: https://squareup.com/store/picasso-and-wine/item/complete-art-kit) or you could even paint along with your own supplies, talk about easy - now that's AWESOME! There was a deadline to order the kits from them as their hours are limited, understandable with everything happening currently and they even offered delivery for the area around the studio. With us living in Carson City we were limited on time with our work schedule for pickup but not to worry Picasso & Wine also shared another outlet for ordering additional supplies for the online class - they ROCK! We opted for the online supplies and they arrived on time for the our digital date night. Painting was LIVE on Picasso & Wine Facebook page at 7pm PST with Jen giving detailed instruction that was a FUN pace. We never felt like we were falling behind or not able to understand her, although she couldn't hear us we were able to give her thumbs up and hearts or type messages to her in the chat section of the live feed as we followed along. My hubby and I truly enjoyed Jen and her husband as they playfully bantered back and forth, laughed, painted and successfully guided us through a GREAT date paint night. The class and painting was great but the tickets are very misleading. On the website it said for bar seating it was 1 ticket for two people. We were confused when trying to reserve our seats so I called and the lady confirmed that we only needed one ticket for two people. When we arrived with four people and two tickets they said we had to buy another two $45 tickets even though we were told other wise. I showed the owner what it said on the website and she said it was not updated but had no excuse for the lady who told me that 2 tickets for four people would work over the phone. I expected maybe a free drink or like a discount for the false information but nothing... not even an apology. They made it seem like we were the ones who screwed up the tickets. Picasso & Wine makes it so easy to create a masterpiece even if you're not very good at painting in my case. We stopped by for a friend's birthday and were greeted and checked in right away. Choose a canvas, start loading up your paints and you're ready to go! The interior was super cozy and I loved the colors as well as how big the bar was. Our instructor was great and provided us with many useful tips to create a beautiful piece. The pacing was perfect and although the painting for this night seemed quite complex, it wasn't at all and I was happy to learn some helpful tips for future paintings. Parking can be difficult as there is only a small lot in the back, so be prepared to park on the side of the street as well. Overall it was such a fun experience! read more

I just experienced my first ever class at Picasso & Wine. Well, my first painting class ever! My boyfriend, his mom, and I went to the Paint Your Pet class! I've been wanting to do this class for quite awhile, but it always seems to sell out before I can reserve my spot. I was pretty excited for the class, but somewhat hesitant due to the past experiences that I had had dealing with the business when attempting to buy a membership as a gift. I'll start with the negatives. I have experienced horrible customer service regarding a membership purchase for the mother-in-law. I attempted to buy the membership initially as a Christmas gift, but was told there were no aprons available and to try again later. No big deal, the following month is her birthday so I tried again then. Again, no aprons. This time I was told that once aprons came in then they would reach out to the member and allow for pickup. Well, that was January. Fast forward to Memorial Day weekend and come to find out my Mother-in-Law still has not received her embroidered apron!! We inquired about it before the class started, but still no apron was available. We were told to pick it up this week as some would be arriving. I feel let down since the membership was to include an apron and the member has not received it with over half of her membership already elapsed. On to the positive!! I loved the actual painting event! Even though there was not a lot of direction from the teacher, I was happy with how my painting turned out! More importantly I was grateful to have such a fun environment to spend time with family. I didn't drink much because I was so focused, but the drinks I did have were tasty. According to my boyfriend and mother-in-law, the regular classes have more step-by-step instruction and people are a lot more loose (aka drunk). It's probably easier to loosen up when you're painting is not as special as your fur-baby!! I am looking forward to attending another painting class in the future, but I really hope the customer service improves and the business follows through on their commitment with the apron. The service received prior to ever taking a class brought this review down from a 4-star to a 3-star. read more

I wasn't going to leave any review, because meh, this place just isn't anything to write home about, to be quite frank, from the times I've frequented both their Midtown and South Reno locations. However, this business is laughably unprofessional. First, as others have already mentioned, they blasted some folks on Facebook for giving a "horrible" review; however, said review was never found, as this business owner is of the kind that just deletes what she doesn't like or what doesn't go with her grain. Secondly, after deleting the review, she then posts some email exchanges that clearly show the people's names/emails. Honestly, there was nothing diabolical about it; just typical exchange of what a business can or cannot offer, then some anger from the customer as the business wouldn't offer those services. All around, that should have been DONE. Like done done, because to me -- outside looking in -- that's a normal occurrence for any business. However, for whatever reason, this business owner and her "they don't like me, so I'm super mad" mentality blasted these people on Facebook. Apparently, she was expecting, YET AGAIN, to get people to pat her ego and give her a bunch of "atta girls" and 'Likes' of affirmation that she and her business are phenomenal. That's not how it went down, because most people are logical thinkers and not of the coddling nature -- or so I'd like to believe. So, when she was deservedly told how wrong it was of her under her business pseudonym to just blast people, she then chose to retort back of how those people are wrong and how awful those people are for even suggesting such a thing. After 70+ comments of disapproval, it got to the point where the business owner deleted the whole string (predictable, right?) and then turns to Yelp!, where she is now affronting on those that write similar reviews to this one, no doubt. BUT! That still was not enough to get me to write this review. Because, I get it, we all have bad days -- she had an especially bad one with many bad decisions made; but that doesn't warrant me to -- what she hypocritically coined as 'social media bullying' -- join in and state my piece. However, when I decided to scroll through these other reviews, I was astonished (not really) to see that this wasn't just an off day. This business owner will demean and minimize the most de minimis of reviews; ones that are not even all that bad or emotional, just simply what they experienced. I was able to grab some screen shots of some of the post and comments. Also, is a screen shot of a review in here and their response. Every time we have done this, we have walked out in awe. Brigette was our expert last night and she was so patient and encouraging. I've decorated my bathroom with all the art and when guests use it, they come out so impressed of our work. This is a must it you enjoy something different and want to impress a date. So fun! This is the perfect place to celebrate a birthday, date night, girls day, or spend time your Mom. You walk into this old house off Vassar that has been turned into the cutest art room and bar. There are tables set up strategically so everyone can see the artist leading the session. There is even a TV at the back of the room for a close up view of painting up front. The artist leads you through a painting and shows you what brush to use, which paint to use, and how to mix your colors. You can also feel free to make any changes and make the painting yours, the way you like it. At the end they take a picture of your group with your finished painting. The 3 hours that you're there for the class seems like the perfect amount of time. You're not rushed, but you also don't get bored. The artist leading the class was nice and entertaining. She made the experience fun. There is also someone walking around making sure you're doing okay and giving you paper towels when needed. It's a completely fun way to unwind and have a little fun exercising your creativity and artistic ability. It's fun for beginners and experienced painters alike. And what's better than hanging out with family and friends sipping a little wine or mimosas? A fun bonding experience, and you have your art to take home at the end. read more

I've gone to Picasso & Wine twice now- and it's really my least favorite of all of my painting experiences. The first time the instructor went way too fast and it felt rushed. I was happy with my painting but there were a lot of people who weren't. This last time, so many people were unhappy with their paintings. The instructor continued to confuse people with how she named the paints and it was a bit frustrating. The music and the microphone is obnoxious because she would talk and the music would blare at times in-between her words. I always feel like these classes are a bit crowded space wise and I would like to spread out more. This last time I just left really frustrated. I wasn't happy with how my painting was turning out so I was going to kind of fix it and do my own spin. I've probably done 10 or so paintings before so I know they don't always look exactly the same. The instructor came up behind me and was very condescending with her remarks and it's not like I was asking for her help or opinion. I ended up just leaving before finishing what I was doing because the comments were just getting to be a bit much. Honestly after the two experiences, I would rather support a different local business. Things they do well: changing out paper towels and water for you while you're painting, offering drinks while you're painting, and a nice atmosphere. I also feel like they have the best selection of paintings or at least I tend to like a lot of their paintings which is what brought me back after the first time. read more

What a fun night with my daughter. She hasn't done any art since elementary school, and was anxious about completing a beautiful snowy owl with Mum! PP did not disappoint. Jenn, our artist for the night did a great job walking us through each step and we had so much fun. Came here for my birthday and had an amazing time with friends. The class was very well paced and the instructor was incredibly patient and taught well. I don't have an artistic bone in my body but I was still able to follow along. Dare I say my painting came out decent? If I can do it, anyone can. My favorite thing from this was being able to pick up tips and tricks. The instructor and other employees are more than willing to help if you need it. The place itself is a cute house with a full bar. There are a lot of drinks to choose from (not just wine) both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Tip: If you do get a drink make sure you don't mix up your cups and accidentally drink your dirty paint water instead. Their dog is also the cutest and definitely made the whole experience even better. This is a great place to come to for any occasion whether it be a date or a girls night. This is my second visit to Picasso and Wine after having looped around to quite a few places in Reno, Minden and Carson. I have to say this is a true parrrty!! There's music going, drinks pouring (upon purchase) and it felt like a great way to end 2019! There are drink specials posted on the wall, I ordered the winter sangria which had diced apples in it, it was so good I had to order a second one. During your painting the bartender comes around to take drink orders so you don't miss anything and there's an assistant in case you need more paint colors or materials, It was guided step-by-step but at the same time there was room for personalization. I think this was the funnest paint and sip that I've done in a while. Since I got there about 25 minutes ahead there was street parking right in front they also gave a small parking lot in the back. There are paintings and cups decorated available for purchase in the front. This class was sold out so thankfully the four of us were able to get there since we arrived early. We did the woodland snowman and I am pleased with how mine came out. Upon looking at there website there's so many cute paintings coming up I may have to come back soon.
