I read reviews prior to visiting this place for the first time, and it was not nearly as bad as some others put it. Getting in was easy, you pay the fee and sign, get your hand stamped, and they do a quick visual check of your toolbox. Next do you have to find the vehicle that you're looking for. There are no signs that indicate the rows, so you have to look at the vehicles that have their row numbers written on the sticker, and use that as a reference to find the row containing your vehicle. The vehicles are already listed, and some of them are pretty close to each other so you can't open the door all the way without hitting the vehicle next to it, which is what happened to me since I was there to pick up a driver door and passenger door. Check out took only about 10 minutes however the prices are not really clear until you check out. And if you decide that you're not going to buy something because of the price you have to get online and put it back which kind of sucks. Make sure the cashier rings everything up because they will check your receipt on the way out, and they Mark every part to make sure that you paid for what you got. Also be prepared to open your toolbox for them to check before leaving. Some parts can be a bargain especially if you can't find them anywhere else, but some other stuff is a lot more expensive compared to just buying new. I looked at three different vehicles when I was there and they were surprisingly in fairly good condition, as far as lots of the interior trim and plastic parts being intact. I'd recommend finding your vehicles on their website prior to visiting or you will be walking around there for a long time looking for the car. If you have any questions while you're there, good luck. When I was there the only employees were at the entrance/exit/cashier, and besides the cashier I got there was only one other person that spoke English. Also the bottom of your shoes will be covered in oil and grease and dirt afterwards so get ready to wash them when you get home. Outrageous Entrance fee is now $5.00 per person. Also noticed all the ac lines in every car have been just cut and Freon has been released into the air polluting the ozone. As an ase trained technician, that goes against all environmental rules and guidelines. The hazardous Freon has to be correctly recovered by a certified ac professional. It all started when I rolled down my window to order my dopio espresso at a Starbucks drive thru window. It was a cold morning and I was eager to get some hot coffee to warm up. Coffee in hand, I drove off ready to start my day. I flip the power window switch to shut the window... and nothing happens! I start clicking the switch even more aggressively like those folks who hit the walk button at a crosswalk 20 times thinking it will happen faster that way.... Still nothing. The frosty air is just canceling out the car heater so I'm feeling the chills. It's not fun having a window that opens but doesn't close. I come to find out i've got a broken window regulator! This part is not complicated to replace but local part stores do not carry it. The dealer was charging a couple hundred for it. EBay was a little better but I decided to check out Pick Your Part in Sun Valley. You pay $2 admission, bring your own tools to pull the part you need and go hunting in their vast lot of late model and older cars. The cars are divided by domestic and imports. They happened to have two cars like mine and I found window regulators in good condition. It was fun yanking your own part and it only cost me $30. At that price I decided to buy regulators for the rest of my windows so I've got them handy when they decide to roll down and die. I've been to the yard twice since and found more parts at really low prices. You can buy whole engines and transmissions if you need them. If you don't mind getting a little dirty and want to save some dough so you can blow it on other luxuries, check out Pick Your Part. It's a good option when aftermarket parts are ridiculously priced at a stealership and the local auto parts store doesn't carry OEM parts. I'm a fan! read more

Before the new owners took over...Im not sure exactly what happened...but what I do know is that the old owners were forced to sell the property or face serious fines for not installing some 20 million dollar oil collection system for the rain runoff...This was done by wealthy politically connected democrat investors, using fake hypocrite "environmentalists" It was basically parts yard gentrification... So now the parts are as much as 20x what you would pay because they have women running the area where you pay who have no clue what half the things you want are...and they charge you prices so high you could pay for something new. On top of that they charge you a bunch of ridiculous fees now... its like they charge you for their businesses operating cost in fees....and all this after you did their work pulling the part off the car, IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND IT without it being damaged because now the prices are so high that people pulling parts just cut off whatever wires are in the way or attached to what they need. You'll find your part but it will likely be damaged by people who don't give a shit about the next guy. Don't trust the website either... Those cars are all picked clean within 30 mins after they get dropped. They don't have catalytic converters either or gas tanks..they chop the cat and drill a hole in the gas tank before they ever bring the car out to the yard, so you won't find those here. Interior panels are ripped off, usually cracked and broken and thrown on the oilly ground next to the car to get to the power window motors faster. starter will be gone, distributor, alternator, all gone. I am so happy with my pickup experience! I got an online quote to sell my 97 mercury marquis and called to schedule a towing pickup. The lady who answered the phone was friendly and explained everything very thoroughly, she gave me different options for pick up times and days. I got the call this morning they were ready to dispatch the tow truck to me, again from a very nice woman on the phone. The tow truck driver Adrian called when he was 10 minutes away and was nothing but pleasant, kind, and thorough upon arrival. He explained everything I was signing and made sure I took a picture for my records. He had great people skills and made giving up my first car such a pleasant expereince and made sure I had gotten everything I needed from it. I will definitely reccomend this service to anyone I know who needs their car to be picked up or sold. read more

If you've ever been here , you know that part of exiting the premises is that the worker checks your receipt and the item you bought and your tool bag. Today, with 4 wheels, a fender, and other miscellaneous items purchased in hand, a worker at the exit checks off my receipt and asks to look in my bag. I open it for him to check, and he immediately starts pulling out random little clips and bulbs that have always been in my bag. I say "those are MINE." He replies "it doesn't matter the sign says no outside parts." So...that gives you the right to confiscate what is rightfully mine? I've been to this location and the Monrovia location many times recently without this issue. Shouldn't someone have checked my bag when I entered??? So the manager looking guy in a blue hard-hat and grey polo overhears the commotion and comes over just to say "read the sign bro, no outside parts." I said "okay that's fine but that sign doesn't give your employee the right to confiscate what is mine." The manager threw all the parts back in my bag and told me to "get out of here next time read the damn sign." The worst people to do business with. They give you a price for a part over the phone. You have to pay to enter the junkyard and then they have sections where you have to pay again to enter. Once you go to their junkyard and disassemble the part you pick, they charge you whatever they want and not what they quoted for. Their excuse will be that they need to update their website But in the first place they give the quote over the phone so they lie all through out. They know that you have taken the pain of dismantling the part from so you are now frustrated and tired and will just pay for it as you don't want to go through the trouble again at another junkyard. They did this to other people who were also in line ahead of me. Crazy people who just want to scam you stay away as far as you can. It's only going to be a bad experience going there. Been coming here for 15 years and it keeps getting worse. Used to be decent. Not anymore. Dirty and disorganized. And they always overcharge you. They try to pull fast ones by charging you primo prices on the regular side of the yard. Most of the staff is rude aside from a select few. Been told not to come back here when I question them about the upcharging of prices even though the true prices are posted on the wall and their site. Tire man is rarely there and had to wait for them to fill their air compressor for two hours to get tires dismounted. Staff would rather help their friends and will close the window on you even when there are multiple lines waiting. When you call them they won't even pick up the phone. LKQ this place needs to be audited! and new managers. Poorly trained employees. They will stick 80s and 90s cars in primo as well. I am Yelping about my experience selling a car to this junkyard (as a customer, I agree with the majority of the other reviewers-customer svc is nearly non-existent.) Recently, I became tasked with selling my daughter's old car, a Altima with engine issues. I contacted several 'we buy junk cars' businesses and although everyone of them promised to pay the highest price, they all low-balled me (offering around $200 or so). Then, I went to the Pick Your Part website and entered info about my car...to my surprise they quoted me between $400-525. soon thereafter I received an email with a request to call to arrange the transaction. I called and spoke to a pleasant young woman-who gave me a firm offer at $425 and I said "Sold"! She arranged to have it towed on the upcoming Monday-but she called me on Sunday to ask if they could pick it up early. WooHoo! The pickup went as smooth as could be, now I have a check in hand and I can park in my driveway! Been coming here for the past few years and today was the worst experience after looking and waiting over an hr to pay for my items I get to the front and the person at the window decides that the front bumper assembly needs to be charged by peace so the air dam it has different the brace different parts and the cover different part the whole part was one assembly. Then when I'm leaving the security guy that's in the front has his gun out and a mag out on the counter while my receipt and part was being checked security guy snatched my tool bag started searching. What a DAY!!! I woke up at 7am today and it was a Sunday. I am not heading to work, I am not heading to business. What is so important to do today?! Today was my first visit to a HUGE Junkyard. When I wrote a review a couple days ago about going to a junkyard, they were very small, but the one I went today...was literally a GRAVEYARD of cars. I went arrived around 8:15am to a big parking lot. Possibly the size of a mid-size movie theatre. As I was approaching the entrance, I noticed that the guys had tools and good thing I brought my wrench and screwdriver with me since I was looking for another Acura CL mirror for a cheap price. Admission for the main area is $2.00. If you want to re-enter, you must have your hand stamped especially when you got a lot of parts on your cart or hand. They have the domestic right when you enter and the imports on the left side. So many dead cars. Look at my pictures. I walked for 45 minutes back and forth to search for my car, but I did not see an Acura CL. I walked back to the entrance and saw they had a Customer Service Section. I asked if they had a Acura CL, but they don't keep electronic inventory of it. Eeeek. It would be perfect if they had it and I can search faster. However, they referred me to the Primo Section. This section is the aftermarket section and admission is additional $2. So, admission is $4 for everything. The Primo Section did have the Acura CL I was looking for, but it was totally stripped...BOOOO. I guess my car is very rare. I am glad that I know this place, but since my car is rare. They have a portable water washing area especially when you have dug through all the oil, dirt, and dust in the area. When you leave, the employees will check your bag if you have taken anything. I will have to be going to specific places for the car mirror. Also, I am glad I went in the morning. Right now, its 104 Degrees. Its probably 120 with the cars all hot. Went in looking for a part for my 1993 truck. They tell me it's in a primo section which is supposed to be for vehicles MY 2000 on up. There is also an additional two dollar premium that you have to pay on top of the three dollars to visit to the reg lot. I asked him why is a 1993 truck into primo Lot and they have no idea why but I still had to pay $2 and I'm sure parts are also a premium price. Nobody can explain why in 1993 cars in their primo lot. I've been here a few times trying to look for cars on the app only not to be found. Poorly run junkyard and a waste of money going to this location IMHO read more

Recently, I have had two thefts from my vehicles while parked at this place. In the first incident, two mirrors were stolen. In the second, lug-nuts were stolen from one of my rear wheels. I cannot imagine what would make someone steal lug nuts, compromising my safety and the safety of those around me. Thankfully I noticed it before my wheel came off. I recommend you inspect your vehicle before driving off - since it has happened to me twice. LKP should monitor the car park for this type of activity - it's really bad PR.
