A friend of mine told me about these Pickle People that are inside of Western Beef on Thursdays-Sundays! My friend raved about them and how her family had been coming here for years and how her brother from the Carolinas sent her money to pick up pickles. I was in West Hempstead on my way to the highway and my friend reminded me that the Pickle People were there, but I needed to have CASH which I almost never have. Thank God I found a few bucks in the car. These pickles are amazing. I ate three pickles before leaving the parking lot. Every flavor is good! I love horseradish so I ordered the quarter. I definitely have to go back and get the Cajun, spicy and sour. The service provided by Eddie was amazing. He takes time with each customer, which explains why they have repeat customers. read more

As a kid, I remember going to Shoppers Village and getting pickles from the pickle stand and it was the highlight of the entire trip! The pickles seemed to be so HUGE at the time!! Eventually Shoppers Village closed down and ........no more pickles!!! Now sure I've come across a few pickles since then but it's never been the same. Fast forward to 2019......I stopped in Western Beef to pick up a few items an stumbled across the booth as I was entering the freezer section. Automatically I remembered the booth from when I was younger and HAD to get me a pickle!! I shared my reflection with the girl behind the counter and she gave me a brief history lesson about the company and products. I almost passed out with excitement! Now yes...... I know.....it's ONLY pickles..... but I LOVE pickles and I've found the mothership again!! Now, down to the review: Cons: 1. a little salty but that's what pickles are..... 2. Smaller like Kirby's Pros: 1. Delicious and crunchy 2. Come in pint and quart sizes 3. Variety of flavors including Sour, 1/2 Sour, Cajun, Atomic etc. The have other stuff like pickled tomatoes and peppers and you can also buy the pickle juice separately. 4. Great customer service Ok...sorry for the long review but overall if you love pickles this is the place to be! The prices are a little higher at the festivals and you can't buy the quart sizes. These are honestly the best pickles in all the land! If you have never tried a pickle by them, I do not know what you are doing with yourself! They are A M A Z I N G! I have been getting them as long as I can remember. Usually their show up on Long Beach or at the annual Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay! They have many different pickles such as sour, garlic, bread&butter, hot&spicy deliciousness. They come in pints or quarts or gallons! You can even get a pickle on a stick. Ate amazingly delicious pickles all day at the craft fair in Rockaway park this past weekend. The Pickle People were serving up pickle after pickle to the neverending line of pickle craving beach-goers. I tried the horseradish, cajun, hot & spicy, dill, and half-dill flavors. All were really awesome. I even went home with two half-gallon buckets of pickles to enjoy for the next week or so. Everything was super fresh and packed with flavor. The pickle people know their pickles. They cold pack their pickles so the result is crunchy, crisp pickles and peppers. They are so different than the pickles that you buy in supermarkets. Most of the store bought pickles are over processed. The result is a softer less crisp product. They Pickle people make at least 7 different flavors of pickles. I tried the extra hot, garlic, and dill today. I loved them all. Their extra hot was surprisingly hot. Next time I will try their Cajun. I also tried their pickled green tomatoes. Very good. I bought a large container of pickled hot peppers. I am looking forward to trying them tonight. They also had a mixed pickled veggies. read more

HOLY HOMEMADE PICKLE!! I just tried these for the first time at the Huntington Fall Festival! I can't believe they've been doing this for over 30 years and I've never found them! So amazingly good. The wicked sour pickles were delicious. And wicked they were, I can still feel the pucker in my jaw! They were crunchy until the very last bite, which is hard to find these days. My friend recently told me to look for these pickles and insisted I try the Hot Shots. Now, I'm not crazy about hot foods, and I wasn't sure how I'd feel about hot pickles... but I think I found my new obsession. Sweet with heat, who knew it would be so delicious. The people working there were very friendly and let me try different pickles before I bought the 4 gallons I brought home!!!! Oh yea and HICKORY!? A pickle seasoned with smoked salt???!! It tasted like a pickle right off the BBQ, SO FRIGGIN GOOD! As soon as I got home, I read up online about them and saw their event schedule. They do events all over, AND they have a shop!
