Went here at Christmas to buy some last minute gifts. Had some great little treats for foodies. The woman there was very friendly too.

Sausage rolls more Italian flavors than traditional British. Pies are good but some very very dry.

It's the "sister" restaurant to EGP Land and Sea in Island Park, NY--and honestly, both spots deserve your business. EGP Oceanside is a big step up from your typical local pub. The food quality, presentation, and menu choices really speak for themselves. On my last visit, I had the French Dip from the specials menu--somehow even better than the French Onion Dip I usually go for. Mussels (Black Pearls) are always a winner. If you want to eat a little lighter, the EGP Salad with caramelized d 'Anjou pears is fantastic. Their wings can go toe-to-toe with anyone's, the burgers are crazy good, and my all-time favorite sandwich, "The Thick Chick," better never leave the menu (same goes for the Steak Tidbits). Everything is made fresh, and the owners and servers are always friendly and welcoming. In the summer, the outdoor space adds another bar and often live entertainment, which is a great bonus. Great selection of craft beers. Plus, there's plenty of parking in the back. Just a consistently great place to eat.

After visiting for brunch today, I'm excited to be able to update my review with a full five stars…read more- Swing the Teapot is officially one of my local favorites! I had the tea experience with Black Velvet and it was just what I needed. I'll admit that the licorice and peppermint were very faint, but it was still a tasty tea and sharing a large pot with my partner, we finished the whole thing. My MIL loved her ginger peach tea, and my friends each enjoyed theirs, one getting his go-to peppermint and the other trying the red raspberry and remarking in how pleased she was with her choice. Lesson learned- if you come here and DON'T get tea (with the adorable teapot, teacup and saucer, all charmingly mismatched) you're doing it wrong. Because I'm weird, I just ordered the Irish soda bread with a dish of whipped cream as a "light" breakfast, and I appreciated that the server humored me to the fullest. My partner had a blueberry muffin that he was super pleased with, probably his favorite that he's found in the area so far. My MIL unabashedly devoured her chicken salad sandwich and the potato salad it came with - usually she's picky so that's quite the endorsement. The avocado toast and burger that my friends ordered all looked fantastic too. Great service, delicious food and tea, and very good prices- next visit will be for the live music!

The teas were served in actual tea pots and cups. Food was pretty good overall, my daughter loved the pancakes, which has been the go-to order. Service is a hit or miss depending on the time of day. The first time we went was on early in the morning before noon so it was not busy. My husband ordered the Irish Breakfast, which was very comforting and filling. I ordered the fish and chips, which were pretty good. I took the leftovers home. The price for the dining experience was very reasonable. The most recent time we went was around lunch time and it was buzzing. We were lucky that we got seated but service definitely suffered this time around. For this dining experience we ordered the pancakes from the adult menu. My husband ordered the Shepherd's Pie and I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. We took the leftover pancakes home as we devoured the Shepherd's Pie and Eggs Benedict. I'd definitely go back one day to experience dining with a live band.

The breakfast I had at tea and sympathy was just the thing! As usual it was extremely crowded. I think the only reason I was able to snag a table without a reservation was because I was by myself. I was seated at a tiny table in front of the door and enjoyed a delicious steaming pot of their house earl grey tea, which came with refills! Then I ordered "the full Monty," which was a yummy and filling breakfast platter, where every single element was perfectly done. The toast was bone dry and a perfect vessel for the piping hot stewed tomato, mushrooms, beans, and silky scrambled eggs. The back bacon and sausage link were very juicy and flavorful, and the star of the meal was the black pudding! I don't normally like it, but this was rich and savory without any sort of gamey offal flavor. I didn't think I'd finish it but I gobbled everything right up. For dessert I thought why not try sticky toffee pudding, which to my surprise was a slice of sweet and squidgy cake studded with chopped dates and topped with a hot vanilla custard. Of course it went perfectly with more tea and the cold dreary weather. The bill wasn't ludicrous but definitely more of a meal for when you want to treat yourself! I love this place and am glad it's still just as busy as ever.

Yes, the place is small and the available seating space is limited and sometimes cramped, but that is rendered irrelevant by the quality if the meals and the service. (Word to the wise: Do not simply drop in, as the place is usually packed with customers who made reservations beforehand, so make sure to book your table online.) The food is always superb, just the kind of comfort food that I gravitate to whenever I visit England, and the cozy, intimate vibe of the place reminds me of what it feels like to be human after enduring ongoing dialysis three times per week for the past six years. The staff is always courteous and friendly -- special shout-out to the most excellent Molly -- and the restaurant's proprietor is quite a character who clearly gives a damn about the quality of the restaurant's every aspect. I have tried many of the items on the menu, but my go-to repasts include the Full Monty (the full English breakfast ), sausage rolls , and the bangers (sausages), bacon, and beans plate with an excellent multigrain toast. And though I am not really a dessert guy (I favor savory flavors) , I have great appreciation for their deliciously tart rhubarb crumble with hot custard. And don't get me started on their comprehensive roster of fresh teas served out of individual pots at your table. (I favor the blackcurrant tea with milk.) In short, Tea and Sympathy is a singular oasis in a mad city that becomes ever more of a nauseating tourist trap with each passing day. An eatery of its singular excellence is as rare as hen's teeth and is to be held most dear. It is rare for me to find zero flaws in a restaurant, and I say that as someone who anchored the kitchen at an award-winning barbecue joint, so take that for what it's worth.

The moment you step inside, you're transported to the Victorian era, with ornate details and charming décor that make the entire space feel like an experience in itself. We stopped in before a show without a reservation and, while the dining room was full, we were able to grab seats at the bar. Honestly, I think it worked out for the best--the bar felt more spacious than the table seating and had a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere for a Wednesday afternoon. The mocktails were as creative as they were delicious, and the cocktail menu offered plenty of tempting options as well. The bartenders were attentive, friendly, and impressively efficient, striking that perfect balance of great service without constantly interrupting your conversation. We shared the sliders and the summer salad, and both were generously portioned and perfect for splitting. Between the beautiful setting, excellent drinks, and seamless service, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to.

We waited 25 minuets for our second round of drinks and ultimately had to cancel them as we had our show to attend.
