The lighting could be better on certain courts.. uhem courts 1, 2, 3, but my friends and i love coming here because honestly we know these courts inside out. We know which are the good courts and which courts have some hiccups, we come here so often know where the dead spots are on certain courts but with all that the prices at night for private courts cant be beat. One of my friends had a bad experience recently and I'm glad the owners took her experience into consideration and addressed the issue pertaining that specific employee. (if you scroll through all the bad reviews on google, its always about that one specific employee.) This place has become so popular that it is always booked out 2 weeks in advance. Looking forward to seeing how this place continues to grow and improve. Love the majority of the courts here especially their newer ones court 11&12. It has a little more privacy and prevents balls from flying all over into other peoples courts and vice versa. Some courts especially court 2 is less desirable in my opinion, it's dark and hard to focus or see the ball. Some courts do have water dripping from ceiling during rainy/ snowy days but it's not significant enough to become a hazard. Appreciate that they now have 24 hour options available. All of their staff are amazing except the one senile old guy, he's just miserable. (IYKYK) We come here regularly and seeing him just ruins your day/mood. Overall good courts with no dead bounces, adequate overhead space and lighting and clean bathrooms. There's parking to the side of the building (across the street) and in the back, however on snowy days it is a dangerous trek.

They have open play that you can sign up for based on skill level as well as court rentals. Went to a social open play where 20 people split 4 pickleball courts and the games went smoothly and there was not a lot of down time between games. Open play was a little confusing at first but people there will let you know how the randomized teaming-up works so it prevents a "dominant team" from playing together the whole time. In addition to the facility having everything you would want in terms of pickleball courts, what makes the open plays really fun is the crowd. Everyone was really friendly and there was no negative body language no matter what the score is, who your partner was, or who the opponents were. Everyone was there to play some pickleball and have a good time.

I called the front desk and the staff were able to fit me in for a time slot that had openings. It's been a hot minute since I've been on Long Island; I had forgotten how deep Melville actually was...lol Literally on the border of Nassau and Suffolk. This location had a large parking lot that was shared with the other businesses adjacent. Inside, the courts feel pretty big, with plenty of room on the sides and back to maneuver and run for difficult shots. Court surfaces are smooth and well maintained and the facilities are very clean. Ceiling height was adequate for most lobs to be successful. People I played with were mostly friendly and competitive. One thing I was not expecting was how old the demographic here is; my estimate, the average age in that time slot I played in was 55-60. Nevertheless, this was a nice facility to play at. I don't know if I'll ever go back though because it's so far out of the way coming from Queens.

But the people at Dave & Busters will point you in the right area and then you can always go back there for other fun events. I do like this empty second floor mall space has been repurposed into something unexpected. You book ahead of time, get a code to come in, then have to use a vending machine for equipment. This actually didn't work for us, and it was difficult to track down any employee at the many courts to get help. It's a bit of automation at the expense of customer service, but eventually we were able to actually get the equipment (which is buy only, not renting.) As an inexperienced group, the employee gave us an overview of rules but just said to focus on trying to hit the ball back and forth. We did end up having a good time. We were not serious players, but we got some good movement in. We were going to sneak a little more time, but a group did come in the next block, so don't expect to go over your hour (or however long your time). We rented the 2 court options, so there was inevitable some crossover with hits into each other's games, but we were keeping it friendly. I could see the proximity could bother people. I'm glad if it gets some traction as a space. Otherwise, it's an eerily quiet upstairs. There is a bathroom down a silent winding hallway nearby. Plenty of parking as well.

The class was well organized and even though it was a group class they did give individual attention as needed. I've played Tennis and taken lessons so I'm accustomed to the style of teaching. I really felt that the instructors created a good balance so you learned somethings and had fun . Kudos that's hard to do in a class mixed skills and ages! Well worth the time and cost !!

They use a portable net that's a little more in the flimsy side but it gets the job done. The surface of the floor is forgiving so you don't leave with shin splints.

I use this facility to play pickleball. Most use it to play tennis. Note that I have been to this…read morefacility about 10 times as per the address but I know it as the Alley Pond Tennis Center and is operated by Common Point Queens. The facility doesn't have the best lighting in the world and in the winter it is not well heated. On one day when it was 7 degrees outside, the inside was only 46 degrees when I arrived around 9AM and went up to 49 an hour and a half later according to my thermometer. On a relatively warm day in the winter (around 55 outside) it got as high as 62 on the court. In addition to less than optimal temperatures and lighting, the courts are often dusty and dirty though management did surprise me recently by running a sweeping/vacuuming machine over the courts before a recent tournament which was helpful. Notwithstanding the aforementioned shortcomings, I have given it three stars as at least the management price court time lower than the nicer facilities like Pickleball Plus so this facility does serve a purpose and is conveniently located to a densely populated area. I'm glad it's around.

I was looking to purchase a tennis racquet for my 23 year old daughter so I consulted Yelp to…read moreidentify a local shop. Topspin has a consumer rating of 5 stars from 3 reviews so I figured it couldn't be too bad. LOL I knew I'd have a better experience than my daughter recently had Dick's Sporting Goods with low inventory of tennis racquets and nonexistent staff (not even considering their level of knowledge). I visited Topspin yesterday (Saturday) afternoon and met Bill Levin (owner) who was friendly and knowledgeable about tennis racquets. He asked me a few questions about my daughter to estimate the proper grip size. He suggested a few entry level full graphite racquets (prestrung) and told me that if I purchased one (before removing the tags and use) I should take a picture of my daughter's grip on the racquet and send it to his personal mobile phone to review. If it's not the proper size grip I could bring the racquet in and exchange. I purchased the Babolat 2020 Boost A W Prestrung Tennis Racquet in Black, Pink and White color. I took the picture of my daughter gripping the tennis racquet and Bill promptly responded with, "Perfect," so I felt comfortable with the sizing. I'm very happy with the selection, knowledge and friendly service at Topspin.
