We were lucky to catch the open market itself on Saturday morning en route to lunch at the Haunch of Venison (the pub from 1320 - see my review). I came here twice with my mother-in-law to pick up a few fresh items (strawberries), direct from the farmers. The hardest part is finding a parking spot. Lucky for me, my mother-in-law had a handicap sticker, which meant that we were able to park right at the market square. I'm not sure what you do if you can't park on the street. There has to be a parking lot somewhere, I just didn't need to figure that part out. If you are in the neighborhood, stop in and enjoy! I'll be back the next time I'm nearby.

Really was a great day out. Really recommend. Then stopped at the tea rooms for a drink and some food. Very tasty and still quite reasonable. They also have car boots on a Sunday ( I haven't been to this one but have heard it's quite good ). All the fresh air, the kids slept well. I thought we'd be there maybe 2 hrs? We were there nearly 4 1/2hrs completely lost track of time.

However as regulars will know it is best to arrive early for the best cakes as they have many contributors and the cakes from the best ones sell out quickly. There is also a great seller of fish, another person who sells watercress they have grown themselves and lots of other great stands. Some are better than others, but that is like all these things and you quickly see who is best by how busy they are with regular repeat customers. Real food from real people, not bargain basement cheap but worth it for really good food.

What is the Good Life, I ask. It only turns out to be one of the most comprehensive farm shops I've visited. And 5 minutes drive from her house! You can get virtually anything here. Butcher selling own brand meat. Check. Locally made ice cream. Check. Amazing vegetables from nearby Isle of Wight. Check. Frozen pastries to cook at home. Check. Homemade chutneys and pickles. Check There's a cafe and a florist to round things out The only thing stopping a 5 star review is the price. Farm shops aren't cheap and this place isn't an exception.
