After perusing their website, it would seem that NG is a part of the 'locavore' movement, using, when possible, locally sourced ingredients. Also nice, the service is friendly and prompt. One of the most interesting things about NG would be that they have three restos in ZH and one in Brazil! Por que? I aim to find out on my next trip to Not Guilty. Note: the soup sizes don't read 'small' and 'large' on the menu board. I forget what the cutesy language is...something like 'good day' for a small soup and for a larger soup it's something equally silly. Don't be discouraged as I was for a fraction of a second when trying to absorb the menu. There are only two sizes: good and gooder. ;)

My colleague ordered the Khao Suey with Shrimp (29.00€) which was extremely well presented and delicious. My red curry (vegetarian - 23.00€) was pretty to look at BUT I asked them to make it spicy and it wasn't very spicy. However it was warm and comforting and I was hungry enough that I pretty much ate everything that is pictured. I made the mistake of eating a clump of "something" in the bowl without looking; this turned out to be the wasabi -- sad! At Bimi, and elsewhere, it's best to pay attention to what goes in your mouth. There was a large variety of shochu on the menu. I ordered a shochu somewhat randomly (taking the second one from the top, if I remember correctly). It was served with water, over ice -- I enjoyed the drink and thought it was a fine accompaniment to the chirashi. I got tastes of a starter salad and a bowl of matcha ice cream with red beans. The salad was A-OK, and the ice cream made a wonderful dessert.

The fish on the nigiri was still great, and the futomaki were fun (sprouts?), but the plain maki were pretty plain, and the white miso was more crunchy (onion perhaps?) and less flavorful than most of the versions I've tried. Barfüsser claims to be one of the oldest gay-friendly bars in the world ("oldest continually operated", perhaps?). So I started packing my bags, to leave Switzerland but halfway boxing my stuff up I decided to give Yooji's a try. It was for sure not super good sushi but acceptable enough not to move :-) Yooji'in Bellevue has two sections with two separate entrances but internally linked: one Kaiten-sushi (conveyor belt) restaurant section and one take-away where you can buy ready made sushi. The sushi is not bad if you compare it to what you can get in the supermarket but the price is the same, so for Zurich this is reasonably priced. For lovers of specialty rolls, their selection is quite limited but I am not a huge fan of them anyway. I had much better sushi at this price point before, just not in Switzerland and I am already content that I can eat some a-ok sushi without breaking the bank. Oh and extra bonus points for their hours: they are open daily from 11 am to 11 pm, also on Sundays.

However, it stands to lose it's 4 star rating to 3 stars due to lack of customer ambiance, as I hope this is one-off. Envisioning a Memoirs of a Geisha or Kill Bill effect of going into this restaurant on a Saturday night, but instead landed with the boring parts of Lost in Translation. No court jesters in sight. Just streams of hesitant couples staring at the menu outside whilst walking by, staring at the emptiness of the customer base, looking at me, and walking away. It didn't help that this restaurant is located right across from cablecom and the 'back' part of the main train station, so a bit quiet and kinda spotty feeling at night. However, the restaurant did manage to draw two couples in, probably thanks to me as a token Asian-looking person sitting by the window, advertising the suspicion that perhaps this is an authentically tasty place. However, the food and wonderful service managed to keep me awake and excited for a bit. Since I was torn over choosing the chiriashi, the bento box and sushi, I gave the friendly waitress an interrogation of questions that would make anyone feel exploited. She answered them with great care and detail and gave me very good answers. I ended up with a sushi regular for CHF 30-35 and it was very fresh. If you also want sashimi, I'd recommend to pay 10 francs more and get the Yoshino special. It's probably even shareable between two girls with small appetites (certainly not me)! The menu boasts of an array of cooked/raw Japanese foods, and a vast selection of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages. I'd recommend this restaurant for those who squirm at the thought of raw fish, as the cooked foods here looks/smells promising. The couple next to me ordered (1) bento box with chicken, which also came with salad and three pieces of sushi rolls (2) chicken teriyaki, which both looked and smelled superb. The smell was so enticing that I was drooling even though I was full with sushi, a strange feeling to combat. I will have to come back and try out the cooked portion of the menu, and hoping for better customer ambiance next time!
