We had a wonderful experience here today. Chris was delightful to work with. I could tell that he was young and he was nervous but he did his best to get the perfect shot of my six month old. Working with babies is not easy or predictable. He really was great with getting her to smile. Additionally there was a great coupon for $99 that included all digital images and 5 free sheets. It is a deal you can't beat. I take my daughter's pictures every month (for the first year) and recently we tried JCPenney but I feel that the Picture People was a much better experience. read more

I used to love Picture People, so I was excited when I saw a Groupon and realized there was a location near me. I quickly booked both my daughter's birthday photos and our family pictures. First, I want to say that our photographer, Kim, was wonderful. She was patient, professional, and took some beautiful photos of my daughter and family. This review is not a reflection of her work. Unfortunately, the pricing and package structure were extremely disappointing. The Groupon advertised six pictures of your favorite poses and a framed picture, but the six photos all had to be from the same pose. If you wanted pictures from any other pose, you had to pay an additional $22 per image. The biggest issue was the cost of the digital images. Even on sale, the digital package was $180. That price is outrageous, especially considering these are digital files that I would still need to print myself. While I understand businesses need to make a profit, charging $180 for digital images felt excessive and out of touch with what most families can afford. I simply couldn't justify paying that much money for digital prints. What started as an exciting experience turned into a frustrating sales pitch with unexpected costs at every turn. The photos were nice, thanks to Kim, but the pricing completely ruined the experience. Sadly, I will not be returning and cannot recommend Picture People based on the value received for the money spent. read more

We had a very positive experience with the Picture People today! We were the first appointment of the day and were running a few minutes late so we called a few minutes prior to opening to let them know and they were very understanding. Our photographer was Kim and she was very patient with my crazy almost 4 year olds. Somehow she even managed to get good pictures of them! We had brought balloons as props and she brought in a few different cute props (a chalkboard that said "It's my birthday," a whitewashed "4" a bench and a stool) and chose a background that went very well with our color scheme. I also love that you can see all of your pictures right after the session and go home with images in hand. They even emailed my favorite image to me right away! The session length was supposed to be 20 minutes (not sure how long we actually took) and we used a promotion for $99 for all the digital images from your session. I thought it was a great value. I would have to see how well it would go on a busy day without such a good promotion to see if it was worth 5 stars but I'll definitely go back again! read more

Very disappointing experience. Needed a head shot for linkedin. Chose to buy a groupon for picture people instead of doing the "hang a sheet up on the wall" thing. I didn't realize that hanging a sheet up on the wall and taking a selfie would be a better experience. The "photographer" just said "ok look here, smile" and snapped like 20 pictures. I expressed by disappointment and explained that I came to a professional because I wanted some coaching and a bit of feedback. I had a very bad experience here. I had car problems yesterday and my session was scheduled for 3:40 pm. I called a little over an hour before my session to asked if I can extend the time to another session time so I can rent a car. They said they're booked, but they give 15 mins wait time if I'm late. Then she put me on hold and talk to her co-worker and said if I come by 4:30 they can fit me in. I got there exactly 4:30 pm and she told me I'm on stand by and will try to fit me in because they closed at 7pm. I waited for 1 and 1/2 hours and at 6pm they had no one else there, but told me they're sorry they can't take me. So asked if I want to reschedule for tomorrow. I was very upset because it was an hour before 7pm, I waited very long with my husband and my baby, and we rented a car. Since it was my son's first Birthday photoshoot I agreed to reschedule. I came today right on the schedule time and it wasn't as busy as yesterday. The photographer automatically chose the white background because she said that was the only background for the "cake smash" and I was ok with that, but what about my other poses I wanted to do without the cake smash. I didn't get a choice on the background. The photographer was nice and help me set up some of my items I bought. She only use one prop in the studio. I wish she use more! The session was so short and I felt like the pictures wasn't good, but she said she got good pictures. So I believed her and waited for her to show me. Then I decided to go change in "Buy Buy Baby's restroom." I had a horrible incident with a boy and mother in the restroom. I was so upset that I file a complaint with the manager of Buy Buy Baby and then told the photographer, but she feel no remorse and just brush off and show me my pictures. "Picture People" should have a little changing room to make it easier! Jcpenny portrait studio had one at Cherry Hill Mall. I'm very dissatisfied with my pictures and quality was not nice like the one I saw from other people photoshoots from yesterday. I saw that she injured her elbow so maybe that effect her photography work. I bought a Groupon and I also purchased a CD that $99 plus tax. Now I regret buying the CD because it was so expensive for crappy pictures as I took a better look at it at home! The pictures I actually like was dark with no flash! So that was very disappointing! They have a limit of one outfit change and I had to come up with most of my own poses for myself and my baby. I always go to the one at Deptford Mall and always had the same photographer. She was amazing and I wish I knew her information so I can follow her where ever she go work at next as a photographer! I wish they didn't closed down because I had the best experiences there! She even talk about wanting to do my baby "cake smash" photoshoot. The employee there even stay overtime when they're supposed to close. They're more patient, nicer, my sessions was at least an hour or longer and bigger studio! They were more busier to and took way better pictures! I even feel very comfortable changing in the studio instead of walking back to Sears restroom when I was pregnant. They also didn't have a limit to outfits change and gave better ideas with poses for pictures. Overall I'm never going back here! I am very disappointed. We chose the Picture People to document our daughters 1st year of life. We come every three months faithfully even buying the portrait club. This time we made an appointment for christening AND Holiday portraits and had 3 outfit changes. We were very rudely told over the phone that it was under new management now and you could only accommodate two. So from the get -go we did not receive a "warm and fuzzy". We arrive on time for our appointment and were greeted by Kira who told us she was new, still training and would start with the Xmas portion since our 8 month old was dressed in her holiday dress but she would then turn us over to someone more experienced for the christening photos. This statement did not give me much confidence in obtaining good holiday photos. We were intending on purchasing the cd and sheets since we were taking 2 important pictures. Kira did not lead the session. She is supposed to be a representative of your company, the professional with the knowledge. She continually asked us how we wanted her posed. I said you are the professional, as far as posing what are the options. I have always had a pleasant experience, let the photographer do their thing and help out with smiles when needed. In this case it was the opposite. She asked us what kind of holiday photos, which props we wanted but never explained what was available. Finally she asked if we wanted the tree. We said ok and she asked if she would sit in something. I said sure. She brought out the Santa basket which we started to put her in, looking to her for guidance but none was offered. I figured I would try to sit her Indian style in the basket and Kira stated that we should put her rear in 1st with her feet sticking out. There was no support under her rear so the baby just sunk in and commenced crying since she was now stuck in the basket. We took her out and decided to move on as obviously that was not going to work and this girl was not trained at all on how to use the available props. Throughout the holiday portraits many smiles were missed as Kira was not quick or camera ready. She was spending so much time trying to make the baby smile which was never going to happen. Finally I said to her we will make her smile and you worry about snapping the pics. Even then the baby would smile and no pic was snapped. So many opportunities were missed. After rummaging around we saw the 2014 when asked what else we wanted. Once these pics were taken she told us to change her into her christening outfit and she left. We were waiting and waiting, our daughter getting fussier by the minute. After 20 minutes I went to go find someone. I found another associate (Chelsea) and explained the current situation and also mentioned that Kira had said someone else would be shooting the christening portion. She was very dismissive and not helpful. She said she didn't know why Kira said that, we would have to ask her and walked off. Kira's finally came back after we had been waiting another 10 minutes. I don't understand why we were told we could only do 1 outfit because the appointments were booked every 20 minutes but here we were sitting in a room waiting for an eternity with a fussy baby in a christening dress in the middle of our session. she attempted to take christening photos on a white background. Again she missed all of the smiles and didn't even take any good non smiling pics. I asked her when the other girl was taking over because we were getting nowhere. We waited a few more minutes for Jessica (whom we had seen before) by this point although our daughter was not hysterical she was whining and her face was red so even if she was smiling the pics were not good. We then waited an eternity to view our pics. In the interim the people before us had their session lost by the computer. Needless to say they were unhappy. In the end we only opted to buy the Xmas cards and $18.00 bundle. Then we were told we would need the $18.00 coupon. We had never needed in the past as club members. Everything was an obstacle or hurdle and did not flow seamlessly. We now have to come back and have her christening photos done again because they were only done on one white background so you could barely see the dress and our daughter looked so washed out. We were not satisfied with the customer service, the knowledge of staff, or the portrait quality. I expect this of any portrait studio and I don't feel it's too much to ask. read more

So, I wrote a really critical review of Picture People in the Deptford Mall location and I stand by that review. This time our experience was a bit more positive at the Buy Buy Baby location. The store wasn't as busy. The staff was friendlier, and the photographer was more skilled. Still, if you can afford a real photographer, you'd be better off. So I got a coupon in my e-mail staying they reopened and we want to keep our customers and gave a free coupon for 5 prints. I called scheduled and asked any other promotions running at this time? The employee on the phone said yes $9.99 for a digital cd of all the photos. I thought, "Wow that's awesome so $10 for the CD she said yes!" I called the day of to confirm my appointment and asked again about the cd... the employee said No I don't know who you spoke with but it's $99." Ok that sucks but I'm still coming obviously I planned for it all week. I get there take my daughters First Birthday pictures, there was one staff member. She stated this was her 3rd day, she was alone. She did a ok job clicked the bottoms moved a rattle. I lucked out and got many poses I wanted to buy! So I got the free 5 of the same pose and of course purchases many other poses that were $20 for each additional pose. I asked if they had any packages for different poses? The response was... Not yet. Ok you send me an E-mail to come check you out and your not ready yet? They print out I come back to pick up and take a look at them. The pictures are suppose to be on a white back drop. The back drop is gray. Completely gray. The employee went back and forth with "The Manager" in a text message for an additional 40mintues. I asked to sharpen one picture and the employee stated she did not know how I prompt her on how to sharpen a picture. Then asked her has she been trained. She replied, "No." Great this was great now my baby is screaming and we were getting nowhere. I asked for a discount or a refund or a coupon to come back to see if a manager can sort out the issue, the manager response was " We can not do anything about these photos this is how are white is at all locations." I have been a picture people customer for 7 years. I have 7 years of pictures white is white and gray is clearly gray. Not to mention they didn't expect cash...? Even when I called to confirm this was not brought to my attention. My guess was the employee was not trained on register yet. I left spending money on pictures I was not happy with a screaming baby and time that I took out of my day to come and give your new owners a try. As a retail manager myself I know this situation was not handled properly. The company states new training and better prices but nothing was different. It was honestly worse. For the employee who tried her best to help on her 3rd day thank you, you did your best! Poor management communication here false advertising for sure and will be contacting there corporate office. read more
