    Dancing inside the hall
    Amy W.

9/3/2023 our Wedding. Ivy and her Team were easy to work with. This venue was perfect for our 100 guest Wedding. We invited 150. The Location is perfect and the day went smoothly. I love how they have recommended vendors but you can still use your own to fit your budget We used the Japanese tea house for our Chinese Tea Ceremony with our family, the amphitheater for the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner near the tree and inside dancing plus desserts. Our vendors had no complaints with the staff or location. Parking was a breeze. It does get hot inside the hall while dancing so if it's a night time wedding/ event make sure to bring a jacket if sitting outside. This was the 3rd venue we checked out and it had everything I wanted. Price is comparable for Bay Area venues. I loved the location and the area has many great photo opportunities. This venue is incredibly beautiful and so accommodating. The staff was easy to work with and the setting was perfect. Our guests all gushed over how pretty the hall and ceremony area was. It was also really affordable.

My now-husband and I switched wedding venues six months before our wedding and happily settled on the Piedmont Community Hall. We chose a Friday wedding in June (weekends were booked - book a weekend super far in advance!); we rented the ceremony site in front of the redwood trees behind the Hall, had an outdoor dinner and did dancing and a photo booth inside the actual hall. First of all, talk about a reasonable price (not cheap, but not expensive) and the perks that it comes with. Great communication throughout with the entire staff and wonderful flexibility. Chairs and tables are included in the rental; you can also bring in any caterer or bartender as long as they are licensed. The venue is so naturally beautiful. We were really able to simplify decor and costs because of the natural beauty here at this location. The hall's floors had also just been redone about a month or two before the wedding - the hall is gorgeous! With many of our guests coming from out of town, it was important to us that the venue was easy for people to find and that they wouldn't have to drive to a second location. This was absolutely perfect and made it easy (for young and old) to feel like they could relax and have a good time. Ample parking all around. My only complaint was the rental hours - we ended up purchasing extra hours so we could come in and setup early. With there being no event before ours, I didn't quite understand why we weren't able to setup free of cost but - everyone's gotta make money, I guess! Regardless, changing venues to the Piedmont Community Hal was one of the best decisions we made in terms of our wedding. June was perfect - the golden hour was breathtaking and I will never ever forget seeing all of my loved ones in what has turned into one of my favorite places. Best day of my life. Lots and lots of love - not just at our wedding, but in that location.

We had our wedding at Piedmont Community Hall on 3/9/19 and it was so great. John (who manages the rentals) is truly amazing. He was so responsive, so helpful, so kind, so chill, and so knowledgable. It was my first time planning anything like this, but talking to him about details big or small put me at ease. Seriously, it's worth it to have your event here just because the staff is so amazing. We had rain on our wedding day and 150 guests, so we had to get creative. We used one 20x40 tent and two 20x20 tents (it can be done!). We had the ceremony in the redwood grove, cocktail hour inside, dinner outside in the tents, and dancing inside. The piedmont team made set-up and break-down seem easy and they knew what to do without having to ask me. They kept the bathrooms clean throughout the event and set everything up according to the floor plans I provided. This is a gorgeous venue and I can't recommend it enough!!!

My husband and I held our wedding at Piedmont Community Hall on March 26th 2016. We looked at many places and created a 20 + wedding venue spreadsheet before deciding on Piedmont Hall, suffice it to say we did plenty of research (update: here's the spreadsheet for interested folks: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pCyD3F2AhnaJx6rI93mNGs7w0fXfZQeLFkMpZd9V0zQ/edit?usp=sharing ). We wanted the following in a space: close to Oakland/SF but with a quiet feel, enough space for a fairly large group (we had 175), and an open catering/bar policy. The hall is great for so many reasons, they include: responsive staff that deal with any questions or needs, an unparalleled gorgeous venue set in the middle of a park that offers multiple areas for staging and less need for extensive decorations, great staff day of your wedding who are kind, patient, and even willing to very kindly escort drunk family members to their waiting rides (!)--thank you Evan, open catering policy which can allow you to bring in whomever and whatever sort of food you would like. Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for an intimate but local setting for any of their special events, including a wedding. We also made use of the Tea House, which although it is an added expense I would definitely recommend for bridal parties. We were able to put on our dresses and final touches there, but more importantly we were able to keep the it as as a staging/storage area, for decorations, bags purses, and anything else you might need to store during your special day. Also, for our wedding we used the following vendors and loved all of them: Jasmine catering, DJ Jeremy Productions, Katrina Davis photography, and snip snap photo booth.

Beautiful place to have a wedding; recently came here for a friend's wedding ceremony & reception - it was tastefully done outdoors for ceremony + dinner reception + cocktail hour. Cocktails were served at the Japanese tea garden, and dinner was delicious buffet. The staff on site were very very kind and just wonderful. Lush greenery + tall trees and plenty of shade too. It was wonderful!! We found parking along the outer edge of the grassy area, leading down to the community center itself. It was free since it was a Saturday afternoon!

I am having my wedding here in September. It is a city park, but Damn! It's certainly nice. Compared to the City of Oakland venues, this is high class. The room is quite lovely and the grounds are super-well tended. Bonus points that it's close to my house. Thus far, staff have been nice to deal with. Try to get the resident rate by booking a Sunday and save over $1k. I can't wait! UPDATE: The wedding has come and gone and I have no regrets about choosing the PCH. My average-Joe guest list was super-impressed with the natural beauty of the grounds and building.

We had our wedding here in June and couldn't have been happier with the venue. Everything went smoothly, staff were on top of setup and on site throughout the event to assist, and we got tons of compliments on how beautiful the venue was. If you visit during normal park hours, it can be difficult to envision how lovely it will look for an event -- the venue really does transform with some lighting and decor. My only complaint about the venue is that staff can take a while to respond to messages/emails during the planning stages and can be difficult to reach by phone, but that was a pretty minor concern and it did not turn out to be a problem for us. I also wouldn't necessarily trust the staff's recommendations. For example, I asked staff about renting heat lamps, and they told me that it shouldn't get too cold during June and that they didn't think I needed them. I'm SO glad I ignored that advice. It turned out to be cloudy with a high of 65 in mid-June, which meant temps were more like the high 50s-60 degrees by 6pm when our ceremony started and kept dropping to around 55 after sundown. The heat lamps saved the day. I was pretty surprised by their advice since I grew up in the Bay and know that summer weather is pretty unpredictable, and I'm glad I trusted my gut. I think we would have had to move dinner inside without them.

Exedra - if you like Italian villa look
    Van N.

It's rustic chic meets Japanese Tea house with a high ceiling dining hall (craftsman-styled) all rolled into one. I can imagine using the Japanese Tea house as the Bridal Changing room. It would be a wonderful space to hang out with the bridesmaids and sip champagne. Unique looking trees with twisty arms surround the house. I like the Redwood Grove for a ceremony site. It has a bridal stairway path that is bordered with a stone perimeter. To the right are benches for guests and you can add folded chairs to the left. The scene is similar to getting married in the forest! Of note, when your line of sight travels past the benches, there is a metal fence that detracts from the beauty of the ceremony (just a bit). Another option for the ceremony site is Exedra . . . No, not Excedrin like the medicine, but Exedra like an Italian fountain. The 3rd choice for a ceremony site is indoors, flanked by the beautiful mirrors on both sides. It's great to have a rain back up plan! I also have seen people opting for the circular driveway as their reception. That would allow ample photo opportunities with the beautiful Piedmont homes as the backdrop. I can also envision having the married couple picnic by the lawn. Look for the little creek. I would love to have the wedding party stand on top of the pebbles and water. So pack your boots! The indoor reception hall is well lit and comes with a nice kitchen. There is no groom's changing room. He would have to use the bathroom, which is very basic. Overall, I am in love with this place! There as so many photo opportunities, multiple places for guests to roam, and various styles or themes to choose from (Japanese, rustic chic, or Italian)! A bonus is that you can choose your own caterer. There is no expensive "preferred caterers" list and no minimum food and beverage fee.

Well - I am a girl of my word. When my now husband proposed, one of the first phone calls I made was to Morgan at Spreading Lovely. Morgan is EXCEPTIONAL at what she does. From the moment I hired her, I already felt a sense of peace knowing that I had the best possible person in place to execute my wedding to perfection... Morgan and her team did exactly that. Morgan was hired for month of coordination services. From our first meeting it was clear that her primary goal was to make and keep me happy - I felt her genuine care and concern around every detail. She was so "locked in" at that meeting that it was clear NOTHING would slip through the cracks. Through the entire experience, it felt like I was working with an absolute pro and also a genuine friend. Morgan always had my interests and well-being in mind and knew exactly what to do in every scenario. Morgan went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure my day was special, flawless and exactly what I was dreaming of. I am forever grateful to Morgan and her team. They gave me the greatest gift of all - the ability to LET GO. As an admitted control freak and professional wedding planner - handing over your day to someone else to run with is scary. Well... not with Morgan at the helm of the ship. When the day of the wedding came, the unthinkable happened - I did not worry about a single detail. If you knew me, you'd realize what an insane feat this is. This is the true testament of Morgan and her greatness. After interviewing a ton of other planners and partial planners that all seemed to blur together, talking to Morgan was like talking to a friend. She has a calm demeanor, but you can see she has a passion for what she does and excitement she brings to all of her clients. That passion was evident throughout the entire process and her calmness was such an asset when any issue or stress-point would come up. The entire process was a joy, which I know is not the case in wedding planning so often. Morgan was able to create a design brief from our all-over-the-board style to a cohesive look and feel for the wedding that was even more beautiful than I could have imagined, but still felt so us. She helped us find rentals for what we could rent and pointed us in the direction for the cheapest options to buy other items which was so helpful. The end result was not only stunning, but more importantly stress-free for us and our parents which was the most important thing we wanted out of a planner. Numerous guests, after-the-fact, commented how all of us just looked so happy and stress-free. Guests pick up on that, and they were totally right - we were able to completely enjoy ever minute of the wedding weekend. Both my husband and I cannot say enough good things about Morgan. Hire her today - you will not regret it!

Once we realized planning a wedding is not as easy as it seems, we reached out to Rebecca after running into her while planning someone else's wedding at our venue. Although it was luck that we found her, we would hire her again in a heartbeat. Rebecca is extremely organized, extremely creative, and a really, really, really nice person to be around. Both the planning and day of our wedding were such a joy, and we have Rebecca to thank for that. Our wedding had a lot of moving parts, and Rebecca worked equally well with nervous parents on logistics, with me on design details, and coordinating with vendors. (Our photographer and officiant hadn't worked with her before, and both separately commented that she was exceptionally organized and professional). Rebecca even managed to kindly wrangle all 17 members (seriously) of our "boisterous" bridal party. If you're wavering on hiring a planner, just do it. It doesn't mean the wedding won't be 100% your vision, but it does mean you won't be bogged down in the stress of vendor contracts and timetables, and can focus on the good stuff. THANK YOU REBECCA!

This review is seriously long overdue as our wedding was way back in October 2022 at Casa Real (my apologies for the delay!) Early on in our engagement, my husband and I were ambivalent on the idea of hiring a wedding planner. We had already chosen several of our main vendors and thought we could save money and handle planning our wedding on our own but we were mistaken.  We were soon overwhelmed with all the details and started to have decision-making fatigue so we decided to look for a wedding planner. After quite a bit of research we chose Justina/JL Events and we are so grateful we did! Her services were definitely worth the investment. We highly recommend Justina for wedding planning and coordination. She is professional but personable, trustworthy, and very easy to work with. She had great communication from the start and all throughout the preparation for our big day; her responsiveness was amazing. During our first meeting, Justina quickly identified our needs and vision and created a detailed timeline for our wedding planning. She helped us narrow down design choices and accompanied us to meetings with vendors. We were impressed by her organization and proactive approach! Having Justina as our planner helped alleviate much of the stress that comes with planning a large wedding (we had about 260 guests.) There were several instances in which we were frustrated dealing with unresponsive vendors but Justina was great at facilitating communication and even helped us find better companies to work with. Justina helped us stay on track during rehearsal day and was an expert problem-solver. She coordinated with our vendors and the staff at Casa Real with ease and was patient with us and our large wedding entourage. On the day of our wedding, Justina and her assistant Dana took such great care of us and we were able to enjoy our wedding celebration! Justina truly demonstrated her expertise with event coordination. We really appreciated her taking so many behind-the-scenes photos and videos, too! She also created our beautiful wedding cake topper and welcome sign. Thank you Justina for helping us have the wedding of our dreams! We are forever incredibly grateful for you!

She was so good at anticipating our needs and helping us execute every little detail that we wanted for our wedding day. What…read moremade her different was not just her taste or her connections, which she has in abundance. It was how deeply she got us. From the very beginning, it was clear that she genuinely cares about making a wedding feel like the couple, their relationship, and their families, not like a recycled version of the same wedding-industry template. One of the greatest gifts Lauren gave me was permission. She made me feel like I did not have to do things the "right" or traditional way as a bride. Instead, she helped us imagine something personal, specific, and very us, and then actually made it happen. I am not a Type A person, and she was incredible at meeting me where I was. She kept us moving, tracked me down for the decisions that mattered, stepped in when I hit total decision overload, and somehow made the entire process feel manageable. And then there are the vendors. Lauren brings in people who feel like family. People who are genuinely wonderful humans with incredible taste and incredible talent. Every single person she connected us with felt intentional. They felt like people who deeply understood what we were trying to create and cared just as much as we did. That showed up in every part of our wedding weekend. I basically came in with a Pinterest board and a vibe, and she did not just nail it, she hit it out of the park. Her team fully organized our Xochimilco boat day for guests, including transportation, food, drinks, and all of the logistics, and it went so seamlessly. Our DJ somehow took all of my favorite songs and Latin-afied them, mixing cumbia into everything. Our florist absolutely blew me away. And my hair and makeup artist ended up feeling like a best friend on the wedding day, which says everything about the kind of people Lauren brings into the process. Honestly, one of the best decisions I made was giving all of them the room to create. At one point during planning, I remember thinking, "This wedding needs a bit of my weirdness." Lauren offered up the idea of having two ballet dancers in Cirque du Soleil-style costumes come out after dinner to hype everyone up and get them to the dance floor. It was unforgettable and exactly the kind of unexpected magic we wanted. And beyond all of that, while you hope a crisis never happens on your wedding day, Lauren is exactly the person you want there if one does. During our wedding, my grandpa fell, and it was a devastating moment for me. Lauren immediately had the situation under control. She coordinated everything seamlessly, made sure my grandparents had translation support at the hospital, helped me emotionally regroup, and somehow kept the night from falling apart. Because of her, I was able to come back to the celebration and still experience the wedding instead of losing the entire night. I will never forget that. Lauren did so much more than plan a wedding. She protected the feeling of it. She made sure it stayed ours. She brought together a team of people who felt like family, and she created a wedding weekend that felt honest, beautiful, joyful, and completely unlike anyone else's. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Nico played all our favorite artists and songs that we shared with him--and then some. The Bay Area slaps got things going crazy, and he had everyone vibing non-stop! The crowd couldn't get enough, and people stayed on the dance floor from start to finish. We were so impressed by how well Nico read the room and kept the party going. After the wedding, our guests couldn't stop complimenting how fun and good the music was. It definitely tied everything together for us. Thank you, Nico, for making our wedding celebration unforgettable. You brought the perfect vibe to the day!

My wedding day wouldn't have been a success without their help! A while back, my friend told me that she used One Plus One Wedding Services (OPOWS) for her wedding in 2019. She had good things to say about them. My SIL's friend also used OPOWS, so I figured that if a few of my mutual connections have used this vendor, then I should work with them as well. Since I didn't have a wedding planner, going with a one-stop shop wedding services package was definitely a big help. It made my wedding execution seamless! I reached out to OPOWs about a year before my wedding date. Aggie is the main person who runs OPOWS. Aggie was super responsive with our conversations. She informed me about the wedding service package options. I decided to go with the Plus Package option which includes: photographer, videographer, wedding dresses (which I didn't use), Emcee, DJ (I gave the DJ our custom playlist since my husband and I wanted to pick our songs), hair and make-up artist, reception decorations, and chair covers. We scheduled to meet a few times before my wedding. Aggie was super helpful with providing recommendations and tips. I could tell that she really cares about her clients and wants to leave a good impression. Nearing my wedding date, she provided me with a run down schedule so that I could coordinate with her team and the external vendors that she partnered with. We made sure that my wedding day itinerary made sense. On the day of my wedding, I met most of my vendors in person. I was definitely stressed out because I always have this fear that something will go wrong. But to my surprise, all of my vendors did an excellent job on my wedding day. I could tell that they really enjoyed their job and tried to help me make the most out of my wedding day. Throughout the wedding and after the wedding, I received so many compliments from my guests in regards to the wedding decorations, the vendors we used, and etc. I made sure to advertise OPOWS to my guests in case they want to work with a one-stop shop vendor haha. Thank you again Aggie and team! My wedding day was very memorable and filled with happy memories! NOTE: If you're Chinese and can speak some Cantonese, this would make communicating a lot easier. Aggie, her team, and the external vendors that she works with are Chinese. There was a slight language barrier when communicating with Aggie and the external vendors since my Chinese isn't that great haha. But overall, we were able to communicate and get through the wedding planning!

We paid extra for our photographer (Tang) and my MUA (Hera) was amazing. Hera was my main point of contact regarding any upgrades, questions, or changes to our package. While Hera was on vacation, I worked with Aggie to discuss and finalize the decorations of the venue. I picked out my potential dresses months in advance and Hera put them on hold for me as another bride was interested in one of the dresses I picked out. The MC and DJ were assigned a month before the actual wedding to discuss a song list and anything the MC needed to confirm and know in advance. Our MC was Jason and he was very lively and made the night more fun with his enthusiasm. The entire team was very patient and worked with me throughout the whole planning process as I had many questions and requests. I'm really glad I booked OPO because I didn't need to deal with additional vendors and could focus on what I really wanted for my wedding that OPO didn't cover. Everything came out amazing and I would highly highly recommend their service for anyone debating on booking a package for their wedding.

My husband and I received countless compliments on how smooth, organized, and beautiful our wedding was. Thanks to the incredible TDE team, I was able to enjoy the most perfect wedding day. Jessica: Jessica was our main point of contact throughout the planning process, and she was truly amazing. Whether we had questions or requests for the decorators, MC, DJ, day-of coordinator, photographers, videographers, or HMUA, she was always there to help. She was patient, kind, incredibly organized, and never made me feel like my questions were too much. Our Service Instruction worksheet was so detailed that every vendor knew exactly what to expect, which made the entire day run seamlessly. Decoration Team: The décor for both our ceremony and reception was absolutely stunning. Just two weeks before the wedding, I made a major change to our reception backdrop, and the team worked hard to bring my new vision to life. Jessica even arranged for me to see digital mockups after we discussed how important they were to me. Because of that, I was able to completely refresh the design from the inspiration I had shared over a year earlier. My advice: be as specific as possible about what you like and don't like--it really helps the decorators create your vision. Everything was executed beautifully. MC Eric: Eric was phenomenal! We specifically wanted a bilingual English/Vietnamese MC, and he exceeded every expectation. Even our hard-to-impress Vietnamese aunties and uncles couldn't stop complimenting him. He was charismatic, organized, and handled last-minute changes effortlessly. We had to adjust our timeline during the reception, including pausing photos and adding speeches, and he kept everything flowing naturally without awkward downtime. He also perfectly coordinated our unique sequence of dances with the DJ, making every transition feel seamless. DJ Otis: We didn't know who our DJ would be until the wedding day, and we were thrilled it was Otis! He absolutely nailed the music all night. The dance floor stayed packed until 11 PM because he knew exactly how to read the crowd. He mixed current hits with 70s-90s favorites that kept both younger guests and the older Vietnamese crowd dancing. The glow sticks and light-up glasses were a huge hit, and the energy never dropped. Day-of Coordinator Carina: Carina was incredible. She was warm, personable, and unbelievably organized. I thought my planning documents were detailed, but hers were even more thorough! She made me feel completely at ease leading up to the wedding and even drove to Pleasanton to run our rehearsal (an add-on that was absolutely worth it). Multiple vendors and family members commented on how efficient and organized she was. Photography & Videography: Our package included an engagement shoot plus two photographers and two videographers. Sam photographed both our engagement session and wedding, and his work was beautiful. We chose his light and airy editing style, and our engagement photos turned out amazing. On the wedding day, Sam and Christine were fantastic. They captured every moment while making us feel comfortable. One thing I'll never forget was how Sam noticed we hadn't had a moment to ourselves because of nonstop photos. He quietly pulled us away under the guise of a private reception reveal so we could enjoy a few peaceful minutes together. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, I couldn't be happier that we chose TDE. If you're looking for a wedding that's beautiful, organized, low-stress, and genuinely enjoyable, I HIGHLY recommend them. They truly made our dream wedding come to life.

It was easy to schedule a free consultation,…read morewhere we first spoke with Otis, and could ask many questions up front before deciding to move forward. Otis was kind with great attention to detail from the start. Ultimately, we decided with the glam package and our contract was very clear to understand with cost breakdown for removal of specific services / add-ons. I updated it many times with Jessica, our planner, as we made changes throughout the months, and she was always so patient and clear. Our MC Otis did a wonderful job with maintaining flow of the program. Otis was also working as DJ for a good portion of the evening, so props to him! We had closer to an hour compared to 1.5 hours of open dancing because we were behind schedule, but everybody was on the dance floor and he kept the party going seamlessly. Weddings are hectic and there are so many moving parts; we did get behind schedule but we were still able to do everything we wanted to do. Our photo & video services were set to end, but Otis was very professional in discussing with us if we wanted to extend our video services, communicative on additional cost, at the moment. Our photographer, Ben, along with the team Stanford and videographer, Christina, were so fun to work with. Ben was great at providing direction, which is especially helpful since we were not used to posing. I have not received photo & video yet as it has only been a week, but from an experience standpoint, they were attentive to detail, communicative, and glided effortlessly through the event. My makeup artist, Vivi, is the sweetest person. She was super attentive to detail and my particular skin type. I was worried about makeup because I don't wear heavy makeup often. I ended up paying for a make-up trial, and I was so happy working with Vivi that I had no worries for the wedding day. We also added-on make up for our mothers, which Vivi did the morning of. The reception decor turned out so pretty! Everything was set-up as scheduled. I was really happy with the welcome backdrop and name sign. It was also great to take pictures with guests with the backdrop since we had time during cocktail hour. We asked TDE to incorporate a large screen as the backdrop of our sweetheart table, so we found an example from a previous wedding they did, and it turned out exactly as expected. We added the photo-booth, which was so popular with the guests! There were so many cool props and our guests were having tons of fun with it. I also sent TDE a custom drawing that I wanted for the photo strips- and it turned out just like I imagined. We chose Grand Dynasty as our reception venue, and TDE communicated set-up details with our restaurant event manager, Esmond, in the days leading up to the event. I highly recommend TDE and the team that we worked with! Thank you for making it an unforgettable experience.
