What an amazing gem.. came here for a friend's wedding. This place is absolutely beautiful. Once I walked up the stairs. It was as beautiful as courtyard garden with a fountain with nice flowers and a few benches to sit.. .the cocktail hour was healed in the area a small room hand a large charcuterie table seating with a live band for some entertainment. I came here for a celebration of life and out of respect, didn't take any pictures. But it was a nice community hall and it was very easy to find. The bathrooms are nice and clean and bigger than I expected. And the food that they served was quite good. We did have a situation with the chairs and as event goers had to set up our own chairs, which was odd to me. But I don't know if that was the venue or the family. It was a nice set up and they have a stage at front, which is nice if someone wants to speak or perform. And there was a couple that did perform a poem and story on that stage so it was nice to be able to see them. They had a microphone and the sound wasn't so great. A part of it may have been that people were not putting the microphone through their mouth. A part of it may have been the sound in general because when they showed a video, the sound wasn't so great for that as well. But all in all it was fun and nice. I probably won't be back because it's not an area of, they see Piedmont I say Oakland that I usually hang out in, but if I have to go there again I won't be upset. read more

We had our wedding at the Piedmont Community Hall on 4/18/26, and it was absolutely perfect. The venue staff were all a dream to work with, the coordinator Ivy was incredibly helpful and patient with us, and the space was beautiful. Our guests were all wildly impressed with our venue choice and we got nothing but compliments all night. We had our ceremony in the amphitheater, the cocktail hour/dinner was outside on the pavilion, and the reception expanded into the community hall as well. We also had a tea ceremony in the tea house, and first look/photos on the terrace outside the tea house, and it was just beautiful. The venue staff were incredibly professional, they worked seamlessly with all our vendors and planner, and we felt all night that everything happened around us as if by magic, exactly how we wanted or didn't even realize we wanted. They are truly seasoned event holders. We planned our wedding remotely from Seattle, and weren't able to visit the venue very often before our wedding, but we got a comprehensive list of vendors who were recommended by Ivy and were used to working with the space, and they were all excellent. Everyone knew exactly where to go and what to do and where to do it. Budgeting for a wedding in the Bay Area is no small task, but Piedmont Community Hall was an incredible value for all the space and amenities that we got. We feel so very fortunate to have found it. The setting is absolutely breathtaking--the redwoods, lush greenery, and natural beauty made everything feel serene and enchanting. So many of our guests told us it was the most beautiful venue they'd ever been to, and we couldn't agree more. What truly made our experience even more special was working with Ivy, the venue coordinator. From our very first email, she was incredibly helpful, responsive, and kind. 9/3/2023 our Wedding. Ivy and her Team were easy to work with. This venue was perfect for our 100 guest Wedding. We invited 150. The Location is perfect and the day went smoothly. I love how they have recommended vendors but you can still use your own to fit your budget We used the Japanese tea house for our Chinese Tea Ceremony with our family, the amphitheater for the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner near the tree and inside dancing plus desserts. Our vendors had no complaints with the staff or location. Parking was a breeze. It does get hot inside the hall while dancing so if it's a night time wedding/ event make sure to bring a jacket if sitting outside. This was the 3rd venue we checked out and it had everything I wanted. Price is comparable for Bay Area venues. I loved the location and the area has many great photo opportunities. Absolutely love this gorgeous oasis. My wife and I got married here a few days ago and it was like a dream. The people who help run Piedmont Community Hall and Piedmont Recreation Department are always approachable and responsive, not to mention they know their stuff. We had our wedding here on a Saturday in August, and it was incredible! We hosted 150 people and everyone fit comfortably in the amphitheater and the outdoor patio. We did the ceremony in the amphitheater (note: we bought seat cushions for the upper seating area and added an aisle runner to cover the grate), then had cocktail hour in the Japanese Tea House and outdoor patio (one bar in each), dinner was in the patio, and dancing in the hall (the DJ added some lights for the party). We added additional hours on the front & back end to help with event setup and tear down (booked venue from 12pm-12am; asked guests to arrive at 3:30pm and leave at 11pm). The venue on its own is so beautiful! Because of all the natural beauty in the venue (such as the flowers in the main area of the patio), we felt we could spend less on additional flowers. Our guests loved the space and felt it was very "Californian". The ceremony area was mostly shaded (except for a few of the back seats). We worked with Ivy, who is incredibly organized and asks all the right questions. She always responded very quickly. The staff at the venue on the day of the event was also helpful and kind. Other things to note: - to do the hora, we had to bring our own chairs because they do not permit lifting people on their folding chairs - the venue's coffee maker and ice maker were easy to use and cut down on catering costs - we had to buy insurance, but this was relatively cheap ($200) and Ivy helped buy it for us read more

I am the groom/husband writing the review of Piedmont Community Center and I want start by saying that our wedding was one of the greatest experience of my life. I say that because I don't think the experience would have been possible without the perfect setting (which it was) and without a professional staff to go with them (which they were). Piedmont Community Center is not just beautiful, it is richly beautiful. Meaning, from the stairs leading down to the ceremony site, to the paths leading away, to the promenade where you will serve your guests, to the building where dancing takes place and of the Japanese Tea House where the couple can dress and recover to. Every one of these pieces of the tapestry that is the Community Center exudes warmth, charm and serenity. The entire staff is professional. Everything was set up as we needed it well before time so there were no surprises.  When we needed chairs moved at the ceremony site, the staff was happy to oblige. These people have handled plenty of weddings and it shows. Last, a word on the point person we worked with, John. He exuded all that we had experienced from the Piedmont community center: calm professionalism. John showed up to all our appointments on time. He answered all our email questions the same day or the next. He was clear about what the center could and could not provide and was accurate about both. He was clear about where the center could be flexible and where they couldn't. We absolutely loved working with Piedmont Community Hall! We booked it for our wedding day and they were so responsive and attentive from the very beginning. I can't even begin to count how many emails I sent them with questions and everyone was so nice and took the time to explain everything to me. We even went multiple times to the venue and someone was able to walk us through. We had to change the day and our ceremony location throughout the process and everyone was so patient and kind as we figured it out. The venue is so beautiful and we chose it because we were able to truly customize our wedding. We got married in the amphitheater, which is gorgeous and full of beautiful trees. We were supposed to have our reception on the patio, followed by dessert and dancing in the hall, but the wind had other plans. We were still able to have a beautiful reception in the hall. The staff leading up to the event was quick to respond, and happy to have us visit the site with our vendors for walk throughs. My husband and I held our wedding at Piedmont Community Hall on March 26th 2016. We looked at many places and created a 20 + wedding venue spreadsheet before deciding on Piedmont Hall, suffice it to say we did plenty of research (update: here's the spreadsheet for interested folks: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pCyD3F2AhnaJx6rI93mNGs7w0fXfZQeLFkMpZd9V0zQ/edit?usp=sharing ). We wanted the following in a space: close to Oakland/SF but with a quiet feel, enough space for a fairly large group (we had 175), and an open catering/bar policy. The hall is great for so many reasons, they include: responsive staff that deal with any questions or needs, an unparalleled gorgeous venue set in the middle of a park that offers multiple areas for staging and less need for extensive decorations, great staff day of your wedding who are kind, patient, and even willing to very kindly escort drunk family members to their waiting rides (!)--thank you Evan, open catering policy which can allow you to bring in whomever and whatever sort of food you would like. Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for an intimate but local setting for any of their special events, including a wedding. We also made use of the Tea House, which although it is an added expense I would definitely recommend for bridal parties. We were able to put on our dresses and final touches there, but more importantly we were able to keep the it as as a staging/storage area, for decorations, bags purses, and anything else you might need to store during your special day. My now-husband and I switched wedding venues six months before our wedding and happily settled on the Piedmont Community Hall. We chose a Friday wedding in June (weekends were booked - book a weekend super far in advance!); we rented the ceremony site in front of the redwood trees behind the Hall, had an outdoor dinner and did dancing and a photo booth inside the actual hall. First of all, talk about a reasonable price (not cheap, but not expensive) and the perks that it comes with. Great communication throughout with the entire staff and wonderful flexibility. Chairs and tables are included in the rental; you can also bring in any caterer or bartender as long as they are licensed. The venue is so naturally beautiful. We were really able to simplify decor and costs because of the natural beauty here at this location. The hall's floors had also just been redone about a month or two before the wedding - the hall is gorgeous! With many of our guests coming from out of town, it was important to us that the venue was easy for people to find and that they wouldn't have to drive to a second location. This was absolutely perfect and made it easy (for young and old) to feel like they could relax and have a good time. Ample parking all around. My only complaint was the rental hours - we ended up purchasing extra hours so we could come in and setup early. With there being no event before ours, I didn't quite understand why we weren't able to setup free of cost but - everyone's gotta make money, I guess! Regardless, changing venues to the Piedmont Community Hal was one of the best decisions we made in terms of our wedding. June was perfect - the golden hour was breathtaking and I will never ever forget seeing all of my loved ones in what has turned into one of my favorite places. Best day of my life. We had our wedding at Piedmont Community Hall on 3/9/19 and it was so great. John (who manages the rentals) is truly amazing. He was so responsive, so helpful, so kind, so chill, and so knowledgable. It was my first time planning anything like this, but talking to him about details big or small put me at ease. Seriously, it's worth it to have your event here just because the staff is so amazing. We had rain on our wedding day and 150 guests, so we had to get creative. We used one 20x40 tent and two 20x20 tents (it can be done!). We had the ceremony in the redwood grove, cocktail hour inside, dinner outside in the tents, and dancing inside. The piedmont team made set-up and break-down seem easy and they knew what to do without having to ask me. They kept the bathrooms clean throughout the event and set everything up according to the floor plans I provided. This is a gorgeous venue and I can't recommend it enough!!! read more

I am having my wedding here in September. It is a city park, but Damn! It's certainly nice. Compared to the City of Oakland venues, this is high class. The room is quite lovely and the grounds are super-well tended. Bonus points that it's close to my house. Thus far, staff have been nice to deal with. Try to get the resident rate by booking a Sunday and save over $1k. I can't wait! UPDATE: The wedding has come and gone and I have no regrets about choosing the PCH. My average-Joe guest list was super-impressed with the natural beauty of the grounds and building. read more

It's rustic chic meets Japanese Tea house with a high ceiling dining hall (craftsman-styled) all rolled into one. I can imagine using the Japanese Tea house as the Bridal Changing room. It would be a wonderful space to hang out with the bridesmaids and sip champagne. Unique looking trees with twisty arms surround the house. I like the Redwood Grove for a ceremony site. It has a bridal stairway path that is bordered with a stone perimeter. To the right are benches for guests and you can add folded chairs to the left. The scene is similar to getting married in the forest! Of note, when your line of sight travels past the benches, there is a metal fence that detracts from the beauty of the ceremony (just a bit). Another option for the ceremony site is Exedra . . . No, not Excedrin like the medicine, but Exedra like an Italian fountain. The 3rd choice for a ceremony site is indoors, flanked by the beautiful mirrors on both sides. It's great to have a rain back up plan! I also have seen people opting for the circular driveway as their reception. That would allow ample photo opportunities with the beautiful Piedmont homes as the backdrop. I can also envision having the married couple picnic by the lawn. Look for the little creek. I would love to have the wedding party stand on top of the pebbles and water. So pack your boots! The indoor reception hall is well lit and comes with a nice kitchen. There is no groom's changing room. He would have to use the bathroom, which is very basic. Overall, I am in love with this place! There as so many photo opportunities, multiple places for guests to roam, and various styles or themes to choose from (Japanese, rustic chic, or Italian)! A bonus is that you can choose your own caterer. There is no expensive "preferred caterers" list and no minimum food and beverage fee. read more

We had our wedding here in June and couldn't have been happier with the venue. Everything went smoothly, staff were on top of setup and on site throughout the event to assist, and we got tons of compliments on how beautiful the venue was. If you visit during normal park hours, it can be difficult to envision how lovely it will look for an event -- the venue really does transform with some lighting and decor. My only complaint about the venue is that staff can take a while to respond to messages/emails during the planning stages and can be difficult to reach by phone, but that was a pretty minor concern and it did not turn out to be a problem for us. I also wouldn't necessarily trust the staff's recommendations. For example, I asked staff about renting heat lamps, and they told me that it shouldn't get too cold during June and that they didn't think I needed them. I'm SO glad I ignored that advice. It turned out to be cloudy with a high of 65 in mid-June, which meant temps were more like the high 50s-60 degrees by 6pm when our ceremony started and kept dropping to around 55 after sundown. The heat lamps saved the day. I was pretty surprised by their advice since I grew up in the Bay and know that summer weather is pretty unpredictable, and I'm glad I trusted my gut. I think we would have had to move dinner inside without them. read more

As a wedding venue, really what this site boils down to is this: it's just a city park, albeit a pretty one. The ceremony space ostensibly is next to the fountain with the archway. Only problem is you'll hear people drive and walk by. Simple and pretty spot though. I was told by the City Parks Department that if I went on the day I went (a Saturday) the Community Hall would be mobbed with people at a Martin Luther King Day celebration. I arrived and the Hall was closed and there wasn't a single person around. I imagine that they opened the doors at 9 a.m., remembered that this was lily white Piedmont, and closed and locked the doors. Anyway, the hall is less impressive that the outdoor ceremony site. When I peered through the windows it looked like a plain old room. When I look at the pictures online now, it looked like it has nice hardwood floors and Arts and Crafts style details I missed. Still, this place was unimpressive enough for the boyfriend to say it was a waste of time. The park has pretty redwoods and a mini Japanese tea garden. For the price though, get the Brazilian Room or Berkeley City Club. read more

Came here to check out the place for a potential wedding venue. I forget the young lady that gave me a tour, but she was very sweet and kind. Pros: you can bring any caterer you like, spacious outdoor area for a cute cocktail hour, love the stage area for dj or sweetheart table, love the Japanese Tea Garden ( I wouldn't use this to get dressed in as there is no bathroom, but would be a cute cocktail hour area), love the greenery throughout the venue. Cons: in the middle of a residential area, limited parking (you cannot reserve street parking), public area so there were some areas that smelt like urine, ceremony area is at an incline ( could see myself falling there), next to the ceremony site is a children's daycare with wire gate and some worn benches. Overall, I would choose this place for reception only given the flexibility in vendors and free reigns of decoration. With some good drapery and up lighting this place would be great. However, I was really hoping for a 2-in-1 for my wedding. read more

I'm getting married here in September and am really excited about it. We recently did our site review with our caterer and it is even better than I remembered. This place is absolutely gorgeous. Yes this is a city park, but remember, it's Piedmont, it's really nice. There are 2 ceremony locations and the city provides all of the chair and set up etc. One location is in front of a big fountain structure and is really pretty and out in the open and can accommodate about 150 people. The second location is in a grove of a bunch of huge trees where you feel like you are in the middle of the forest. The reception location is in a building off to the side. The interior is really beautiful with lots of windows, high cabled ceilings and chandeliers. Perfect for a great evening of dancing. Another good thing is that caterers love this location. They have a full kitchen that is actually really nice. That is one thing we leaned when looking at wedding sites and talking to caterers is that you want to make sure to have a full on-site kitchen. Many places don't have this and that means you have to either serve room-temperature food or pay thousands of dollars extra for the caterer to construct a "tent kitchen" (if they will even do that). Also, a lot of places we checked out seemed affordable at first, but then nickeled- and -dimed you for so much that they ended up being really expensive. The Piedmont Community Hall is very straight forward with their pricing and, Barb, the woman who runs everything is really nice and easy to work with. The outside of the Hall also has a beautifully maintained garden area perfect for outdoor reception dinners or cocktail hours. There is also a Japanese tea garden that can also be rented out which is really nice for larger weddings that need more space. This place is really great for a wedding and when we added up all that was included, we realized that is was a good value. Also, they do not dictate your caterer or any of your vendors so you are free to choose whomever you like. ************************UPDATE**************************** So the wedding is over and it was fantastic. It was really just a really fun day. This location could not have been more perfect. The ceremony sight was gorgeous and the reception sight even better. We are so glad that we had only one location for all of our guests to go to. Also, we had the dinner in the outdoor garden area. The space was elegant and beautiful but also perfect for a wedding with a lot of little kids. Ours was a very family oriented wedding so there were a lot of little ones running around. Because of the space and how it is laid out and also that it is outside, the kids could run around and scream to their hearts content without disturbing any of the adults. This was a another great part about the ceremony site. There is a play area not too far away so that when some of the kids got restless, their parents were able to take them somewhere to have a lot of fun. After dinner we went inside for the dancing and cake. It was really beautiful in there and required almost not extra decor to be that way. We simply had some small tables and chairs for people to sit with candle on them and 2 flower arrangements that were brought over from the ceremony. The maintenance staff at the Piedmont Community Hall was also fantastic. Or, at least from what I heard. I was never bothered by anything the entire evening but when my family had any questions they were incredibly helpful and friendly. I am so glad that we got to have our wedding here. read more

I had my wedding at PCH September 2014. We picked PCH for the various spaces and more affordable price. Although the space is beautiful, the staff needs improvement. I sent Hilary, the rental coordinator detailed maps outlining the layout of the courtyard, hall and tea house. The Friday before my Sunday wedding she confirmed the custodian Gerardo would get there early to set everything up according to my floor plans. PCH still managed to get it wrong the day of the wedding. My fiance argued with Gerardo to get the correct set up. PCH is a public space and I was promised signs would be posted to advise there was a private event. No signs posted. One more thing is that there is a daycare at PCH. I was told repeatedly none of the toys would be visible the day of the wedding, especially since I was having my ceremony in the Amphitheater where toys would be highly visible. Toys were not removed. Instead, my ceremony photos has kids basketball hoops in the background. Gerardo could have been a new custodian so I'll give PCH a break with 3 stars. read more

My husband and I had our wedding here a couple of weeks ago, and we could not have imagined a more incredible venue for our event. You have to go see this place to believe it, it's breathtakingly beautiful inside the hall, and around the park. And SO reasonably priced (in my opinion), because you can bring your own caterer AND booze (and just hire bartenders.) Also, the staff (I worked with Franki) was super responsive and helpful. Our pictures are incredible - there were so many places for photo opportunities! I feel like this place is the best kept secret in the Bay Area. My one tip is be sure you take some measurements when you visit - we had 9 round tables, a dessert table and a head table, and there wasn't much room left for dancing. Fortunately our guests were gracious enough to move their tables closer together so it really never ended up being a problem, but it's something to think about. We had 100 guests. We recently had our wedding and reception here, and it was amazing. As great as this place is, you have to use common sense to determine if this is the place for you. Both our wedding and our reception was held inside the hall itself. The hall has nice hardwood floors, open beam ceilings, excellent lighting options that can be controlled beautifully with dimmers that create just the right mood for every portion of your event. Your Cater will LOVE the modern, commercial kitchen! We had an evening wedding. Only the bar was setup out in the front plaza area, but because it was such a warm, beautiful evening, many of our guests enjoyed portions of the evening outdoors in the quiet, peaceful surroundings. It is located within a public park, but you should spend some time in the park and determine if the level of privacy is appropriate for your event. As we ventured out to take some photos prior to our wedding, we encountered two individuals. The first, a very nice woman that noted we were slightly over dressed for a stroll along the walking paths through the redwood grove, and then congratulated us. Very sweetly done. The second, a gentleman walking his two dogs (which were VERY happy to see us), and his sole concern was that his dogs not disrupt us in any way (which they absolutely did not) and he then also congratulated us. We worked with Barb M. from Piedmont's Parks and Rec department. She was very nice to work with. Barb happily provided suggestions on ways we might best use the facility, and her suggestions were terrific. A lot of events take place here, and specifically weddings, so they know what they are doing . . . and it's done well! Finally, the gentleman from Piedmont Parks & Rec. responsible for the setup and closing, was incredible. We had met him one time prior to our event as we were walking through the park, to get a feeling for the location. Though at the time, he was setting up for another wedding, he graciously offered to show us the facility when fully decorated (which was very helpful to see) and he could not have been more helpful in answering our questions. We used the Piedmont community hall for our wedding on 10/13/13. It was the perfect, most beautiful venue for our outdoor garden wedding. To start, Franki Davies was our point of contact/rental coordinator from the day we toured the venue until the wedding day. Franki was always fabulous in terms of answering our questions via email quickly and helpfully. Our ceremony was on a Sunday, so we qualified for the discount. :) We held the ceremony in the amphitheatre-- beautiful! had a string quartet there, and perfect amount of space for about 100 guests. The views are just charming and the staircase makes for a beautiful, dramatic entrance. We had cocktail hour outside the tea house and the string quartet played inside the tea room-- also beautiful set up. We had our reception on the patio outside of the community hall, with heat lamps set up. For a fall day in the bay area, the weather was PERFECT and the heat lamps kep guests comfortable all night long. We also had string lighting set up outside which provided a perfect amount of lighting at night. Our main concern was that guests would be too chilly outside for dinner, but it was perfect. The staff set up our tables and chairs for reception and cocktail hour nicely. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the facilities crew will not set up chairs in the amphitheatre--so our catering staff handled it. No big deal, but just something to know ahead of time. Plenty of gorgeous scenery for wedding photos throughout the park/forest. There were a couple of park-goers who stopped to watch the ceremony but it really wasn't distracting and actually kind of cute. Piedmont community hall provided the perfect venue for our perfect wedding day. We were so happy with this hidden gem. The price is SO reasonable for what you get the venue is naturally beautiful so that an excess of flower arrangements for tables is so unnecessary. Franki was awesome to work with. Most of our vendors were familiar with the site and were comfortable working with this facility. No hitches whatsoever. My fiance and I looked at Piedmont Community Hall for our wedding, and just loved it. We were looking for something with the natural beauty of hardwood floors and exposed beams - and this place was just lovely. It's in a nice little park with lots of trees, as well as a spot to have a ceremony. There's a small parking lot as well. It comes with tables and chairs, which they will set up for you. The price is reasonable: $1650 for 7 hours for non-residents, or $1300 for Piedmont residents. The reasons we didn't go with this place was the small capacity inside (120 dining, and we wanted a dance floor) and the public setting - we heard that people just kind of walk through your wedding (since you also have access to the outdoor area). read more

This is one of the most popular wedding venues in the Bay Area for so many reasons - it's really the Best!! We chose to have our ceremony in the redwood grove, cocktail hour at the Japanese Tea House, and dinner/dancing in the hall with 70 guests - the fact that you can have 3 gorgeous settings all right next to each other in a place with amazing architecture, varied and meticulous landscaping and majestic redwoods with ample parking all around the park, one of the most affordable venues in the Bay Area... What more could you possibly ask for? We did our getting ready photos in the teahouse and there are endless photo opportunities all around the park. They have a kitchen and provide tables and chairs, and in the hall, there is a low stage where my husband and I sang to each other :) Just as valuable as all of the amenities at this venue is Ivy, the venue coordinator! She is a gem of a human being - so professional, organized, flexible, such a reliable communicator! She was so supportive every step of the way with drawing up floor plans and seating charts, answering so many questions, making sure everything would run smoothly the day of our wedding, which it did! Guests were stunned by the natural beauty of this venue in each of its locations and we feel so lucky to have been able to have our wedding here. We vetted this venue for our wedding happening this fall. We loved the redwood trees, the fountain area, the wonderful outdoor plaza, and the tea garden - it was all so gorgeous and so affordable as far as wedding venues go for in the Bay Area! We didn't pick this place because our hearts were set on the steam trains at Roaring Camp and we have a very big guest list - but Piedmont truly came close! It wasn't for lack of beauty, customer service, or good pricing! Definitely check this place out - it was so impressive, the team was accommodating, supportive, and didn't pressure us. We booked Piedmont Community Hall for our son's recent wedding. The staff was really helpful with setting up the tables and working with the wedding coordinator and vendors (flower, DJ and caterer). They even stayed a little later the night before the wedding waiting for the beverages to be delivered. When it was time to leave, the night of the wedding, and we did not have enough room in our cars to take all our time with us, the staff let us leave items there and met us the next day to pick the rest of the items up. read more

Amazing!!!! I just had my wedding here this past weekend and I could not have asked for a better venue. We used the amphetheatre (redwood grove) for the ceremony, the hall for the reception and the tea room to get ready. The reason that I picked the PCC was that I had several mini venues in one. The gardens are amazing and I was just lucky enough for a spring wedding after five days of rain that all the cherry blossoms were blooming, the creek and "waterfall" were flowing and it was like the outside gardens came into the hall when we were seated. I had a tea theme reception, so I did not really use flowers on my tables and I am so glad that I did not distract from the grounds and the views around the park. All of the Piedmont Community Center staff are amazing. They absolutely took care of me. I can hardly wait to see the pictures of my event. This is one of my favorite places and really a hidden gem. read more

This is the perfect place for an outdoor wedding! We just had ours here last weekend and it was beautiful! People told me they got goosebumps when they saw my dad and I coming down the beautiful stone stairway into the redwood grove. What I especially love about this venue is that it feels like multiple venues in one. There's the redwood grove or fountain for the ceremony, courtyard for dinner, hall for dancing (and Photo Booth!) and tea house for cocktail hour or to get ready. Each space has a unique charm to it. The booking process was incredibly easy and streamlined, but you do need to book well in advance. We booked a year before our date and had to have our wedding on a Friday evening bc all Saturdays in August were already gone. This actually worked out well, though, since we had so many guests from out of town we got to celebrate all day Saturday as well. Another great thing about PCH, as other people have mentioned, is that you don't have to choose only their vendors. They have a list of people they recommend, but you can choose anyone. We ended up going with "Serves You Right" in Berkeley and it worked out great. The only thing I would have changed about this is maybe not have rented the tea house. Although it was a beautiful space, my intention was to have our cocktail hour at the tea house. Even though we set up our escort cards and sign in book there, people naturally gravitated to the bar, which was set up by the courtyard. There seemed to be some miscommunication about where the bar would be set up, so we did not use the tea house enough to justify the extra we paid for it. Regardless, our event was more beautiful than I could have imagined. read more

I loved having my wedding at Piedmont Community Hall! My guests all commented on how lovely and unique the setting was for our wedding. The staff were very helpful in setting up and in breaking down and it's a fabulous blend of historic location with all the amenities. The space offers lots of flexibility for photography, seating, weather scenarios. I'll definitely always remember our wedding day fondly and a big part of that is how fantastic PCH was. A few things to note: -You can't have liquor at the venue - sorry about the cocktail lovers among you. -Booking additional spaces (like the fountain for the ceremony or the tea house) will increase your venue budget -They have weddings CONSTANTLY at PCH, so be careful when planning your rehearsal or trying to coordinate with staff in advance (make sure you know your wedding details, balances, rules, etc - because it's hard for them to keep track of everyone). -If you're having your ceremony by the fountain, they can't turn it off, so be sure to have amplification equipment so that your voices carry. -Book far in advance since their weekends fill up quickly The best parts: -Beautiful photos in multiple settings -Facilities are clean and elegant -Kitchen on site for your caterer -Great to have the ceremony and reception in the same location It's a great venue and I'd do it all over again! read more

OK, I know this is another "wedding review," but as I swing between procrastination and bouts of productivity in planning my own wedding, I realize that yelp has been a huge help for my decision making process, so I want to give back a little somethin'. Besides, if you're planning any kind of party and need a space to accomodate a fairly numerous amount of people, this review is for you too. This place and the surrounding area is perfect for a medium to large event; I think up to 150. What I love about it is that the event guests will not be stranded between their dinner table, the dance floor, the bar, or an annoying family member. The inside is elegant with an elevated stage, light blue curtains, tall windows all around. To escape the indoors, outside the entrance is a circular patio encompassing a large tree. Tables and chairs can be arranged here for fresh air. Walk up to the little Japanese tea room for escape place #3. Complete with 4-5 redwood trees, benches, and of course the tea room itself. Escape route #4 is the path down to the ampitheater, surrounded by redwoods and leading to a path through the park grounds. Escape place #5, just go out into the park area, the grass, even the playground if your body and spirit are up for it. This place is very picturesque. It's reasonably priced (cheap if you're a Piedmont resident). It may say community center in its name, but it is elegant and a lot of thought has gone into the planning of the area. You can choose your own catering, they will be thrilled with the on-site kitchen. Ample street parking. read more

Really though, all those people who have weddings here, you make it so that the people of the town can't use it. Whats up with that! I wanna play my tennis damnit! I don't know much about pricing and associated fees or usage requirements, but the Numi Holiday party was fantastic, and the place was perfect. I got married at PCH over Labor Day weekend and everything about the site was just beautiful. Our guests came from all over the country and were raving about the fairy tale setting and gorgeous weather. We were pleased to have so many spaces for our guests to enjoy - we used the redwood amphitheater for the ceremony, the Tea House for cocktails, the courtyard for dinner, and the Hall for dancing. We also took advantage of the wooded walking paths and gorgeous trees for our family and couple photos. We found the staff very easy to work with. They were responsive to emails and calls, helped us keep track of the deadlines of payment and other event information, and accommodated our requests to tour the site many times. The custodians were especially helpful - when one of our guests was having back spasms, the custodian let her into the daycare space so that she could have privacy to do some exercises. That was definitely going above and beyond, and we were happy to provide both custodians with small tips on the night of - something we'd recommend to others who are planning! I echo other reviewers' comments that the site is quite affordable for the beautiful setting and number of spaces that come with your rental. Plus, there is more flexibility in your budget because you can choose your own vendors and are not locked in. We went with a caterer from the preferred list - California Rose Catering - and were beyond pleased. We also used Love in the Mix for DJ, day-of coordination, and lighting, and they were fantastic. I left one star off because of the handful of details we had to take care of for our wedding that I think PCH should handle as an events site that hosts several events each weekend. 1) Signage - while PCH does post blockades during your event saying that there is a private event happening, it is your responsibility to make a sign for the parking lot and any other directions you'd like to provide guests. 2) For the redwood amphitheater, if you want to use the bleacher seating (which we did for 150 guests), it is not attractive and they advise that you cover the bleachers with fabric. However, even though weddings likely do this every weekend, you have to create the fabric covers yourself and PCH does not have it on-hand to rent. 3) Chairs for the ceremony/reception - if you have your ceremony in the redwood amphitheater and your reception in the courtyard, and want to use the white folding chairs, PCH will deliver the folding chairs to the amphitheater, but will not set them out or move them up to the reception for you after the ceremony. To make everything work logistically, we ended up ordering another set of chairs and had our day-of coordinator oversee setup before the ceremony and had friends volunteer to help. Overall, these were not large obstacles, but they did add time and costs to our planning process and seem like areas where PCH could have add-on offerings to reduce headaches. read more
