This hospital is a scam! I went there and was being treated for a possible stroke. Everything seem fine until I was on my way to CT for possible bleed. Mind u I have cancer and a clotting disorder. The nurse kept asking me if I wanted to leave my purse in the room and I told her no because my daughter hadn't gotten back yet. I thought that was strange but I was sick I didn't have time to focus on that. On the way back I get in the room a tech is reconnecting me and this nurse comes in behind her NOT making herself known as to who she was or anything and then she went behind the bed and proceeded to go through my pocketbook without my promission or allowing me to see or know what she was looking for. I had nothing in the bag because the hospital had security and they went through everything in there because it beeped. And they found nothing before I was ever seen. She screamed saying WHAT IS THIS and showing me some nasty sarange with blood in it and a tube of blood. I was like okkkkk. I don't know what ur talking about they were working on me drawing blood and getting me hooked up my bed was a mess. And a tech was moving things around to clear the bed when she had me sit in a chair sooooo. She put my things in a belongings bag and put stuff behind the bed when she was doing stuff. There were also vomit bags back there that fell over in there and a cup mind u. I wouldn't have them in my purse myself soooo I was so confused and mind u sick. She proceeded to get security for what I have no idea. He was confused and even told her its a hospital stuff falls and gets everywhere. She is clearly sick and ur making a scene. Another nurse asked him if they should call 911 to get me out the hospital! Like what! I was in tears and confused and barely could stand. I was asking to speak to a doctor or charge nurse and 25mins pass and no one ever came. The guard asked what I wanted to do and I said leave. He asked them to get me a wheelchair nd they didn't. He got it for me and helped me into the chair and he and another officer helped me into the car. My daughter couldn't believe that they were doing what they were doing! So just know the 4 stars on Google is coming from people who know staff and staff. But u should take heed to the 1 stars and this will save ur life and ones u love. And keep y from having someone go through ur things and then ur treated like the worst person even about to call 911 to get u out and ur sick. Consistently horrible service. Made the mistake of going back after previous flops. I visited the ER on March 20, 2026. Nurse Pam did not show her face for over an hour. They tried to get a vein for about 3 hours and finally sent in Dwayne with a vein finder. Absolute flop. He and Pam discussed it vibrating when he finally got the IV in. Waited probably another hour + to get CT scan. Vein blew immediately. I left which is the second time I did this (a whole bunch of issues in July 2025 - kept me overnight and then all day and never did the CT Scan). I also never got my medication which they blame on the doctor. And no point in filing a complaint (which I made last year) because they cover their actions. Wish there were an option for negative rating. The nurses here are the worst and could care less. July 2023 my husband had severe pain. They ran bloodwork and sent us home. We came back the next day and his numbers were off the chart. Took hours but they finally sent us to Athens. In this case, the nurse was so rude, I asked her not to come back in the room. Do not trust this hospital and we are ever going back. How can you not find a vein for hours and when I leave say oh sorry, we can try again? Absolutely not and if you value life, stay away. Piedmont Monroe is the only terrible medical experience I have ever had and I am 75 years old and love Piedmont Atlanta downtown. Please do not allow your family members to end up here. It is unprofessional and uncaring. I cannot say enough bad things about this hospital. I wrote them, I wrote and complained to Medicare and did everything I can to alert my community to the sad state this hospital is in. I think part of the problem is outsourcing but the only compassion I received was in the area where an MRI was performed. I rang the bell many times and was always ignored. It is a horrible place and please do not allow your parents to end up at Piedmont Monroe. I went there by ambulance and was discharged with the words "the patient was feeling much better". I then went directly to Piedmont downtown and got wonderful and excellent help and did leave feeling much better. Do Not Go There!!! I came in around 5 am, I had both ears infected, I can't swallow and I can't breathe. I had asked for a mask at check in, they didn't give me one. The receptionist was lowkey rude asf, but they took me back right away. For some reason I was put in a dark room, they didn't even turn the damn light on lol. The doctor comes in, I tell him what's wrong and he says "no signs of ear infection, or strep". I have every single sign, and they swab me for strep. It was just a really sloppy awkward encounter. I've never been to the hospital, but I go to the outpatient for services, including MRI and lab work l, and the MRI technicians are great, the lab is efficient. The only small complaint I have is when you come in and register at the front desk, the staff people there don't seem too happy. read more

HORRIBLE experience. The nurses, were nice but not eager to tell me anything. I waited in the lobby for two hours with an IV hanging out of my arm, finally got called back for a CT scan. Then I was sent back out to the lobby, was told I would hear from the Dr about my results in 1 hour. Big surprise, I did not hear from ANYONE for almost two hours until my fiancé go up to personally ask them what was going on. FINALLY, the Dr came to see me, was in a room with me (still technically in the lobby with the door wide open) for literally ONE minute just to tell me that nothing was wrong with me and that "your intestines are probably just sitting weird"..... excuse me? Not ONCE did he feel where my enlarged abdomen was, or ask me a question, or ask me if i even had any questions. THIS HOSPITAL IS A JOKE!!! As someone who is in healthcare I would NOT recommend this place. It all started 6 years ago when they told my dad he needed his gallbladder removed. Ok fine whatever did the sx and symptoms still remain. They did CT's,MRI's, and blood work. All "normal" whole time he had non-Hopkins lymphoma cancer. Anyway fast forward to today, my mother in law has sx yesterday 11/21/24. Her vitals were not doing to well so they kept her over night. They did a EKG and a CT scan. Last night abnormal then this morning they did another EKG. Perfect test they still wanted her to be transferred to another hospital for more testing. My mother in law stated she would like to get a second opinion because she was just getting the run around. She sighed the refusal or treatment paperwork and discharge papers, BUT we could not leave unless we were escorted out by 3 SECURITY guards. They also REFUSED to give her a wheel chair after a HYSTERECTOMY . I thought this was absurd as she just had sx the day before. I have NEVER been treated so rudely or like a felon in a hospital. read more

I went to Piedmont Walton to have a radiology test there. Upon getting to admissions and giving them my name, i was rudely informed by the admissions person that my test had been cancelled and they couldn't help me. When i tried to question them about it, bc I had not been notified of the test being cancelled, they simply reitetarated they could not help me and I needed to reschedule it. When asked if they could help me with that their answer was a very rude no. This was a test I needed to be evaulated for a prevelent disease that my mother passed away from. Not only had I had to take the day off for it, but I had to mentally prepare for this test because of the grief from losing my mom that was brought up by going through this testing. To be rudely turned away with no compassion or offer to help was very upsetting. If I do decide to try to reschedule this exam,it will definitely NOT be at Piedmont Walton. I am in healthcare as well, and was shocked at the callousness and attitude of the 2 ladies in registation. I would give a negative star if able. read more

My husband had surgery two weeks ago at the Piedmont Walton Hospital and our experience could not have been any better. Everyone we encountered from the pre-op group, the check-in clerk, nurses- went out of their way to make us comfortable. On the day of surgery, my husband was taken back within minutes from the wait area, and surgery began on time. After 45 minutes the nurse called me to let me Know he was out of surgery and the doctor would be out in just a few minutes to see me. After recovery another nurse called me to go over the discharge information and gave me instructions to meet them at the discharge entrance with the car in ten minutes- in ten minutes they brought him out. From beginning to end, they were also covid prepared- which was comforting. Within days of surgery we received a card from the nurses and one week after surgery we had a nurse call to check in and make sure we were still doing okay. They went out of their way to make it personable and that is a breath of fresh air these days. Lastly, the doctor that performed the surgery, Dr. Zach Farley, of the Foot and Ankle Care Specialists of Northeast Georgia is amazing! He and his entire office are amazing. Hands down the best. My experience with labor and delivery was great. Dr. Gamble-Webb did an amazing job delivering my baby. There's just something about her that makes you feel calm and I never doubted her. My nurse for the majority of my stay (including delivery) was April and we absolutely loved her. The other nurses were mostly nice and the ones that weren't nice wouldn't really be considered "rude," they just weren't friendly. I was impressed that they did delayed cord clamping and the anesthesiologist did a great job with my epidural and she talked me through it to help me more comfortable since I was terrified. My ONLY complaint is that I was told my daughter would not have to leave the room unless she had a medical issue but for her 24 hour blood screen/hearing test a nurse came in and started to take her away and when I asked why it couldn't be done in the room she laughed like it was just hilarious that I wouldn't want my newborn baby out of my sight. My daughter was out of the room for 30-40 minutes getting her blood and hearing tests done and that made me very uncomfortable. She did return to me and was unharmed, but it's just the fact that I specifically asked about her being with me at all times and then it changed that had me upset. It didn't help that the nurse joked about showing me her name tags and things like I was being irrational to ask that my baby not leave the room. Overall, the delivery and the time leading up to it was amazing and I would highly recommend. However, if you are not comfortable with your baby leaving the room for their 24 hour testing this may not be the place for you. read more

Left me on a bed in hallway for 5 1/2 hours with one barf bag, one valium, had to beg for a blanket and when I could not breath lying in bed I needed to get up to help me breath. Well instead of helping me, they freaking called security. On November 20th my dad (81 years old) was admitted to Piedmont Walton Hospital for gall bladder issues. I live in North Carolina and didn't know anything about this hospital. The reviews I read were poor, so I was concerned about his well being. I arrived at the hospital on November 21 and was very impressed with his care. Everyone that took care of him was polite and attentive. Even the ladies in the cafeteria were pleasant, which was welcomed, since I spent Thanksgiving Day there. Dr. Jacobs preformed his gall bladder surgery on November 22 and he was able to go home the next day. Dr. Jacob's was very personable and thorough in his explanation of the procedure as well as following up with us the day after. My dad never complained of pain from the surgery which I believe is a testament to Dr. Jacob's competence. I would definitely recommend this hospital and Dr. Jacobs. I hope they can eventually increase their review stars. read more

Horrible start to finish. I went into emergency for a wound on my toe that got infected. They admitted me with antibiotics. I was there three days before they even attempted to clean the wound and only because I was complaining, they just kept this open in my dirty sock. On the fourth day I still had not seen a podiatrist or wound care. Every doctor I talked to pointed the finger at somebody else and said that's why I wasn't getting care. They lied to me about my prescriptions before I signed myself out. The minute I signed myself out. They told me I would not get my prescriptions and magically a wound care guy showed up. He asked why it hasn't been clean regularly and I said they did not get permission from you. He said that was wrong, and started pointing fingers in a different direction, and I left never to return. I'm happy to see some people had good experiences here. However I would feel better going to a chain store minute clinic than this place. They are friendly but that's where it ends. I was talking by ambulance severe pain underneath my shoulder burning iny chest when I coughed I cough I can't get rid of a swollen painful right ankle. I told them I had not fallen or had any trauma. Yet they did no blood work no urinalysis nothing but X-rays of my ankle ribs chest and shoulders. Then declared it must be muscle spasms referred me to my pulmonary doctor and an orthopedic doctor gives me something for pain and a muscle relaxer via injection. Writes a prescription for cough syrup with codeine and sends me on my way . My symptoms could be a lot of different issues but they only checked for broken bones when I told them I had not fallen and broken bones would make the pain come and go. So I'm still having the exact same pain I went to emergency for so I feel sure even a pharmacy minute clinic would help more than this hospital NEVER AGAIN read more

The ER staff (well nurses) talk bad about other patients. We couldn't believe what We were hearing. It wasn't a busy night 3am. I heard call buttons goes off and saw the 3 nurse's do rock, paper, scissors to see who was going to get up. I had 3 different Drs come into my daughter's room (ER) they stuck their heads in asked the same question and then left. We had already been waiting in the room for 1 & 1/2 hours. Had 5 different nurses come in and try to get a vein for IV medicine. My daughter told everyone 2 places to stick. The 6th nurse came from ICU. He asked if she knew of a place. She told him and boom it went in and stayed in. The people who took the blood were nice. The ER nurses were awful. My daughter got admitted twice. And the 2nd time this nurse who we hadn't seen came in to start taking out her IV to send her home. I refused. Told her she had the wrong paperwork. She got angry and said she didn't have time for this kind of crap. Started saying I'll come and give her some pain medicine . said that was all they could do. I told her my daughter was admitted to have surgery on Monday. Her voice (her face was red) got angry. I kept refusing her to let her touch my dr. She said it I didn't let her do her job she would get security. I said again, You have the wrong patient. Even after she realized she had the wrong patient she never said she was sorry. I said something to her and the head nurse. We got nothing. I hope I don't ever have to take a family member here. Once we got up in a room everything changed. We had the most compassionate and caring nurses. The first 2 nights(Sat &Sun) It came Monday and that changed. The nurses were older. I even had one tell me , that she had been a nurse for 25 ++ years. She knew it all. Refused to give my daughter her pain medicine and 2 other medicines. Said she would bring me Tylenol. I got in touch with my daughter's Dr and after that I never saw her. Hope this helps. read more

Took my wife there with the stomach flu. Was give 2 pills and left alone for an hour, no tray to throw up in, used a Kroger bag I found wadded up in my wife's purse. No biohazard trash receptacle in room. Blood droplets on floor, bodily fluid stains on wall and cover over the towels and sheet rack. Went to the common bathroom in the hall, no seat covers nasty conditions. Went home and took a good shower!!!!! read more

I want to preface this by saying that I'm not one to quickly "judge" a medical facility. I understand the stresses involved and that people can make mistakes. Unfortunately, people's lives are affected by these mistakes. My brother was misdiagnosed with gastritis when in fact, his gall bladder was "the worst" his surgeon had seen in his 30+ years of general surgery. My brother was dangerously close to becoming septic because they misdiagnosed him... twice. Fast forward to my own issues with my pesky gallbladder. I had to see them three separate times for my gall bladder. When an attack happened, I didn't care where I went. I just wanted relief and I wanted it then. All three times the ER Doctor told me that it wasn't emergent... it wasn't time for surgery. I finally found a surgeon associated with Gwinnett Medical that would listen to me and look over my scans and labs. He took one look at everything and told me to go straight to the hospital for pre-op that day. Apparently there are stages to gall bladder trouble. I was almost to the tipping point of the last stage. I had JUST seen the doctors at Clearview the day before. I feel as though this hospital has gotten complacent... not all, but mostly. They are quick to dismiss and they don't really listen. My brother and I weren't pill chasers, we needed relief, we needed surgery, and we were failed. read more

I have been to this ER several times and most my visits have just been ok and took forever but I always expect that at an ER. Today I had to visit this ER due to a sprained ankle. (Still in a huge amount of pain) I got nothing but friendliness from the beginning. That is very out of character for other visits here. The triage nurse was very nice and sympathetic. She informed me, when she took me to a room, that xrays had been ordered and she told me she hoped I felt better soon. The NP was very nice and informative. The CNA was great as well even though she wasn't very skilled at applying an ace bandage. I was in and out in no time. Overall I left feeling good about my visit. I know some good doctors that work here. but whomever gamble is, avoid. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and suffer from a brain condition that only 1 type of medication works for me. My neuro prescribes it, but it's on back order. This doctor had the nerve to tell me I need to go to a pain clinic like I'm some kind of junkie. I work in the medical field and I always tell my patients to avoid this place but I was in so much pain I had to go somewhere close. I should have went to Athens where they actually care. I'm sure this bill was for a couple grand for absolutely nothing. I could have stayed in pain at home. I wont come back if I'm on my death bed. Worst hospital ever and the lack of care for patients is sickening. Definitely glad I didnt give them my free time and volunteer there. Not to mention I was not even given discharge papers. I had a kidney stone and went to the ER. I never was examined by a doctor and was misdiagnosed, and admitted to the hospital with pancreatitis. I walked out the next day, drove to Athens, and was correctly diagnosed after being examined by a doctor who was not adverse to leaving the break room. My husband was an inpatient at P.W. from Oct. 9 through Oct. 22, 2020. This is not the place to be if you are sick enough to be admitted. My husband is a Diabetic (22 years) and also a heart patient (congestive heart failure). The EMT's took him to the emergency room because his heart rate was high and a pulse reading could not be gotten on the pulse oximeter. We had been to another outpatient emergency clinic 2 days(Wed.) before, where they only checked for strep & flu, both neg. no fever but a Covid test was also done and he was sent home feeling still very ill. By Friday he was too weak to get up and not on top of his sugar levels, although not eating anything. Piedmont hospital E.R. doc diagnosed DKA/kidney failure in the emergency room and said he would go to ICU. Since the ICU only has 8 beds, a day-long wait was required and he finally had a room by late evening. Fri-Sat night he remained in ICU unable to communicate clearly. Sun. evening the moved him from ICU to Med-Surg. unit. Mon. morning he was refusing to have labs done or sugar checked, which told me he had not mentally bounced back enough to think straight. The floor doctor met me coming in around 10:30 am and advised me that he could not keep him there if he wanted to leave, I asked about his kidneys and he looked surprised and said no all clear. Mind you less than 48 hrs before he did not even know what year it was. When a patient's prescribed meds had not been ordered and not given, even when the entire list from VA & otherwise had been provided, the side effects from withdrawal, and recovery from high sugar, can cause anger and behavior problems. The doc said for me to talk with him about labs and testing, but I knew already in my husband's state of mind he would not listen to me. Entering his room between 10-11 am I saw no one come in but a nurse to check the leads on his heart monitor as they were not getting readings at the desk. She said she would call for a cleanup. The tech came in and changed him, but my husband was not helped by anyone to get him to the bathroom, his preference. He refused to eat what Dietary brought in, but none of the fruit cups were sugar-free. Some time went by and he began throwing up enormous amounts of fluid and soaked all of the bedding. Several times I flagged people down in the hall and although they said they would call his nurse or get someone, no one came. I kept looking out the door towards the station where his nurse and the Charge nurse were sitting and they would look at me and then ignore. I went to the desk and angrily said to his nurse that obviously they were refusing to help us. She snapped at me "What do you need a cleanup?" Then proceeded to tell me she spent a lot of time with my husband earlier and he refused tests, was mean to her, and she had 5 other patients. I snapped get the paperwork started and we will get out of here. I went back to his room where he sat in a drowning puddle and burst into tears. The Case Manager came to the door, saw all and asked me what was wrong. I explained to her that the doctor said he could go home because the doctor asked him 5 questions and he appeared to be in a sound mind. The nurse assigned to him refused care because he wouldn't let them do labs. The CASE MANAGER stripped his bed and called others into action. She asked if he had been up from his bed and when they said no, three nurses then assisted him to get in the bathroom. When cleanup mainly done by the Charge nurse was completed, they sat him in a chair and the Charge nurse was able to check his sugar, and he agreed to her to have labs done, this was after 2 pm. Results were such that he was placed back in ICU Mon. evening. Before all was said and done at this hospital he was in an out of ICU three times. They said they found inflammation in his bowel, and although he was placed on an antibiotic it was never made clear what it was for. He was released after 13 days with a stage 3 wound on his backside which he has never had before. Up until his recent sudden health change, he got around independently and drove to doctor's appointments on his own. He is now undergoing treatment at Wound Clinic for several weeks to come. Took my husband to the ER with chest pains. Two nursesstarted out doing what they are paid to do. After the doctor came in, for all of 3 minutes, the nurse took his blood and they got an X-ray. HOURS later I had to ask what was going on. They never hooked him up with an IV. No communication. Then some smart ass blonde nurse comes in and was a complete ass. If I felt like I could have gotten him to a good hospital, I would have gone any where else but here. read more
