Beautifica 360 Out of This World, In the Best Way Some people call this a giant screensaver. Those people are missing the point. If you don't enjoy art, go watch Hollywood slop. The visuals and music are on another level. My wife and I were completely absorbed from start to finish. The message it carries feels relevant right now, and the whole experience gives you a real mental break from the noise of daily life. One practical tip: spring for the VIP seating. This is the coolest experience ever!! Highly recommend! I did the Pink Floyd show solo and LOVED it! Hardly anyone there, it's very different than the laser shows of the late 80s/early 90s. This is like a 3-D movie experience in a planetarium where you feel like you are traveling in space! It's incredible. The Pink Floyd show was as trippy as you'd expect. Loved it so much I returned to see and experience the Queen show as a date night with hubby. He LOVED this!! The seats are reclined and comfortable, but not quite as reclined as the modern movie theaters. The Queen show was great, but the music wasn't from the Best Of Queen so I only recognized about 3 songs. Hubby loved being exposed to new music he didn't recognize from Queen. I'm excited to return again and see more shows! Lovely campus, the Planetarium is inside their Science area where large plants grow, similar to a solarium. It's gorgeous! Excellent date spot that is private, cozy, and beautiful scenery and cheaper than the movies. Can't wait to go back! read more

I attended the Beautifica 360 by James Hood event yesterday and if I could give it zero stars I would. But, the science dome and Pierce College is so nice - I just cannot do that. SO you can have 2 stars. We had the 3:45p show and got there at 3:45p and were walked to the auditorium where you sit in recliner chairs and look up at the dome. There was a "Karen" that attempted to get in her feelings saying things like "Get here on time" "Rude" and whispering loudly to her spouse. Thankfully I have no desire to respond to limited capacity people like this. However, you still had to move over so i could sit comfortably and no matter what you say I arrived right on time and didn't have to sit next to you any longer than I intended or needed . But, the presentation was dull in color, blurry and looked like a compilation of legit screensavers. I'm not sure if it's bc it was put on my college students for extra credit or what...but, I just sat there for an hour and watched the dumbest thing I feel I could've watched on my laptop when it falls asleep. I read all of these reviews and the ppl had to have been on a psychedelic to have thought it was "amazing, so cool, transformative" - I asked the 4 other ppl I was with and we all agreed on my feedback. I'm thinking it is bc it was on a projector with a curved screen that it was an epic fail. I'd like my hour drive back. read more

Good beautifica show! They organise it well and cool merchandises. Parking is ample and the area is nice.

Personally, this was such a waste of money!! I spent $360 for my family of 10 (ages 8-36) and not one person cared for this show. Most of the kids just laid down and a couple of them fell asleep. The 5 adults and myself did not like the show. I could see how older people could find this interesting (60+) but for the amount of money for less than a hour !!NOT WORTH IT!! read more

Just watched this today. First of all it is way overpriced. I'm not sure if the projectors at the Science Dome were to blame or if the movie itself was lacking but it really lacked a real 3d experience that I expected. Also, the movie itself was just so-so, I kept looking at my watch waiting for it to be over. Didn't like that you were expected to get there 45 minutes early and then when it was time to enter it was a free for all. There has to be a way to reward people for getting there early so really admission should be done based on when you arrived. Not a great experience at the Science Dome and this movie is really really overrated. read more

this is not what you think of typical planetarium. It's more just an auditorium with little dome. There's an employee who actually reading from script with projector. Doesn't has anything else to see inside to look or read or observe much around the planetarium. Very boring Feels exactly like in classroom with your teacher and projector. read more

The Friday night show: Mysteries of the unseen world, was fantastic. The dome is actually pretty big and cool. The seats are slightly reclined for comfort. There was also some pillows on the floor, I am guessing one can lay down on it? The two hosts were super friendly and welcoming. You are able to park pretty much on any area, since the show is after school hours. The show itself, was pretty good. The screen images move a lot and pretty fast, just be aware of that. The lenght of the show was just perfect, the information was awesome and very educational but not boring at all. I would recommend to bring kiddos and maybe even for a date night. read more

This is such a great way to spend $6. You get a very informative lecture on whatever the subject matter of the night is and then it's usually followed by a quality movie to support the lecture. I haven't been to a planetarium is quite some time and it takes some getting used to the movement around the ceiling of the dome but once your body, eyes, & senses adjust you ooze right into the universe. The lecture/movie I recently attended was regarding the Ninth Planet and the reasons why Pluto was declassified as a planet. It was REALLY interesting hearing about how many other planet-like objects there are out there even beyond Pluto and the reasons Pluto had its planetary status stripped away. There is so much out there in the solar system that we have yet to explore and I'm really eager to attend another show to see what else scientists have begun to study. It was really amazing quality and production value as well in the movie. It's not a huge auditorium but luckily there weren't that many people in the theatre attending. They are missing out though! The Science Dome isn't just for kids and field trips either so don't let that stop you. read more

Went the the Saturday Children's show at 12:30 and had a wonderful time. They provided an educational video in the dome along with craft activity. For $6 for participating children (3-12) it's a great deal. They offer multiple different space themed shows and I will definitely be returning for another! I've seen a few shows at the Science Dome, and for the most part I've always enjoyed my experience and left feeling both entertained and informed. I would like to mention that some of the short films they decide to show don't seem like they're properly formatted for a dome shaped, overhead theater screen. The perspective is off and everything appears slightly blurry. I wish the movies were a bit more crisp rather than appearing fuzzy and pixelated but, perhaps I've been spoiled with high definition and IMAX quality for too long. At the end of the day, it's a small community college and I understand they don't have the space, resources, or funding for the most spectacular and state-of-the-art cinematic experience. That being said, it is pretty dang cool, and the educational space segments before each showing are spectacular. The seats and floor cushions aren't the most comfortable, and I wish the chairs would recline back just a bit further. Sadly, the main thing that nearly ruined our most recent experience is the amount of noisy and discourteous children who talked loudly and ran around during the screenings. I understand kids are going to be excited by what they're seeing but, it is a theater and people are paying their hard earned money to kick back and enjoy a show without distractions. It doesn't help that the volume of the movies themselves seems to be awfully low. If people can't quiet their children I think that they should be asked to leave, but that's just my little ol' opinion. Reading reviews from others, it seems like this is an ongoing issue in the Science Dome. read more

One of the best date night choices for my wife and I, the planetarium at this Pierce College site gets high praise from us. As noted from previous attendees, the Science Dome has special floor seating, very comfy chairs and seriously informative programs. And even though it was inexpensive, the experience presented by Brian and Alex was more informative than many others I have attended around the country. Preliminary astronomy history and planetary discussion preceded our main movie program "Hidden Universe". What a gem. Got to go into deep space and see in vivid details how we see into the heart of galaxies, nebulae, and stars. Mark me awestruck and happy. I'll be back. You have to do this, at least once. read more
