We had a good experience with Pierpoint, and most importantly, they were the most trustworthy feeling company we could get to help. If you want to skip the details, I'll say I up front recommend them and you should reach out if you need them. Our water line broke as we're in the process of selling a house -- great timing, right?! Aside from the bad timing, the fact of the matter was we needed someone out as soon as possible, but we wanted it done right. I had a few companies that were referred to us, and honestly I got some bad vibes... super low bids, lack of confidence in their ability to get it fixed, etc. Austin from Pierpoint was sort of my last hope as we needed to commit to somebody, and I appreciated their calm demeanor, fair quote, and ability to get it done. Another plumber I had out was too busy to do it, but I mentioned Pierpoint and he said, "Oh yeah, they're a good one to go with." I was able to communicate with them on project updates as we had to stay at the in-laws for a week and a half. They got all the proper permits, made sure the new meter went in the right spot and had it inspected with the city... all in all, I was confident they would do it the right way and they did. They ran into some obstacles which drove the bid up higher, which stinks, but I understand because there's no way of knowing what they might find when they dig, i.e. gigantic old stones in the driveway. I do feel like the crew's overall cleanup could've been better as our basement walls were covered in caked-on mud, as is the floor, and the driveway and neighbors house needed some more attention. However, I round up on my rating because they were there in a big way when an additional water line broke late at night on a weekend, basically a portion of the old city water line. The city water would've gone directly into my house, i.e. flooded the hell out of it in no time. Austin and someone on his crew had a generator ready to bilge water out of the trench, keeping my basement dry while they waited for the city to fix their issue. If you've ever waited on the city of KCMO, even on the phone, you know what a task that is... and this was on a weekend at night! I really appreciate them being there for that and handling it. All in all, I felt seriously at peace after meeting with them compared to the five other groups I had out to bid on it, and they backed that up. Glad to be done with it! read more

Was really hoping to hire these guys. The phone # listed goes to ONE person's (possibly the owner) cell phone. No answering service, no attendant to answer and schedule service. That would be FINE, except that the recipient doesn't care enough to clear their messages from the phone! Its completely full, so you can't even REQUEST a call back. Where has customer service gone? Pierpoint came at my earliest convenience to replace our nearly 30 year old water heater. On arrival, the plumber realized it was going to be a bigger job due to the placement of our water. He called another crew to help and they were there within 20 minutes. The work was quick, painless, and the plumber was cordial. **Edit -- After looking at the owner's Facebook page, the first two trips were performed by someone who was on their first week on the job. This person re-installed the diverter for us and when it continued to leak, the next plumber that came out told us that it wasn't on tight enough. The owner wants to charge us for the same job to be performed again even though we were under the assumption that the first plumber was capable of installing it. This person is now wanted for theft of tools from the owner. Looks like he is trying to pass on the cost of his stolen tools to his customer since he isn't willing to budge on the price he has demanded for the lack of services he provided. Worst experience with a plumbing company I've ever had. We were recommended this company from a close friend and we have regretted using Pierpoint Plumbing ever since. We called to have someone come out and address a leak that was coming from a tub diverter in our shower. 4 trips, 3 different plumbers, and $570 later and we still have the same leak with the same hardware we started with. The owner has sent out different plumbers that undo the work of the one before them and then bill you for it again. This is due to a lack of communication between the plumbers so they duplicate efforts and then bill you for them. We were not told that adjusting and re-installing a tub diverter would be billed to us for $570 when a new diverter costs roughly $25 at Home Depot. When we inquired about the bill to ask why it was so high, Austin (the owner) says he wouldn't budge on the price and wouldn't work with us to even fix the issue his company was hired to do in the first place. Each plumber would come out, slap some caulking around the perimeter of the diverter and then tell us to wait for it to dry. This style of plumbing where they just slap caulk on it and hope that it waterproofs the connection is extremely elementary and apparently costly for the unlucky customer. Now, after 3 weeks after initially calling Pierpoint Plumbing, we are still dealing with a leaky diverter and have paid the $570 and decided to wipe our hands clean of such an incompetent and unprofessional "plumbing company". In addition, 3 of the 4 times the plumbers were scheduled to come out, they were either late by more than 2 hours or didn't come at all and showed up the next day with no communication. I had to move my schedule around to accommodate the appointments and then my day was altered because no one would call to let me know they were going to be late or couldn't make it that day. Extremely inconvenient and unprofessional. The worst part of the whole experience is my wife and I were trying to find a good plumber that we could use not only for our house, but for our rental properties as well. We have family and friends that are looking for a plumber to have on hand as well. We will undoubtedly be letting them know to stay as far away as possible from Pierpoint and to let anyone they know of the terrible experience my wife and I have had to put up with. The owner is more worried about standing his ground on the bill they are so quick to run up when instead he should be worried about maintaining a staff of plumbers that are capable and won't need to make 4 trips to caulk a tub diverter. read more

Very poor communication and hard to reach. If you have urgent need, save your aggravation and find someone else. Austin is owner and is making decisions behind the scenes. However he was never available to talk. I had to communicate with his employee, who does not have authority to make any decision. Getting a firm commitment is like pulling hair. I had some emergency plumbing needs. Got hold of his employee, and tried to get a quote and a schedule. Trying to get my question answered is at least 24 hours because owner won't talk and employee needs to get his OK for every question. The only time I was able to talk to Austin was when I told them they are not needed. Since I did not hear from them for more than a day for my emergency, I hired someone else. This is when Austin called me and tried to reason with me how I mistreated him and do not bother to call him for work again. Be professional and get back with customer in a timely manner. They responded right away & were very professional. Turned out not only did we need a major repair to the sewer line in our front yard as a result of work done by another company, but Austin discovered so did both houses on each side of ours. It's hard to find an honest and reputable plumber in Kansas City. I got ahold of Austin at Pierpoint and gave them a punch list of things I needed done at a new house I just bought. I had a very bad experience with Pierpoint. I was told a main line clean out would have a 30 day guarantee if i paid for a camera inspection, I did and still got billed for three more clean outs and the sewer still was backing up. Called another company and the problem was fixed first time. Also got billed for a repair on a tub diverter that was never done. Made many phone calls to discuss the bill and never got a call back. Finally got a text saying the bill stands and a threat if not paid in 30 days the bill goes up 10%. Worst plumbing company ever. read more
