This is a great little park located at the northern end of Lodi, Wisconsin. It has a few…read morebaseball/softball diamonds, ample green space, and a pavillion and swimming pool. There is also a nice jungle gym to keep the kiddos occupied. The main attraction for me is that the park is nestled alongside Lodi Spring Creek, a fairly productive trout stream. Trout can be caught all along the length of the stream that borders the park. The park itself makes access to the enter section quite easy. If you're in Lodi and just want to enjoy a nice day out, Goeres is a nice spot to do it.

Our group loved shooting pool, feeding the jukebox, playing pinball, and taking turns at the one-armed bandit all while enjoying a roaring fire near the full-sized, classic wooden bar. the hot tub was truly awesome and large enough for us all to enjoy and we also loved taking advantage of the huge dining room to play games or the super comfy den area to hang out and watch movies. We loved the layout of the upstairs bedrooms giving everyone privacy but also being near each with a vintage hotel vibe. I couldn't get over the wrap-around balcony shared by all the bedrooms...loved it... so many details big and small that truly make this place an original. Seeing as it was early January we couldn't truly appreciate the huge yard with its many statues and sculptures (and a vintage phone booth that works) as well as the close proximity to the water, but I hope we can stay again when it's warm to take it all in during the peak season. The host and his assistant are super attentive and very responsive. It's clear they put a lot of time and planning into trying to give everyone the best experience possible. My only regret is that we didn't bring more people with us to share this treasure! I highly recommend.

It is recommended that you book in advance if you are a large group, as the kayaks seem to be limited. It is a very popular place, as the scenery changes dramatically. The lake its' self is rather small, but is connected to windy rivers that are lined by orange cliffs. There is a nice mixture of shaded areas, as well exposed sunny areas. There are many beaches to pull up onto, and a dam at the end of the course. The lake is very friendly for beginners and experts. Kayaks are $10 an hour or $25 for a half day. It takes about 2 hours to get to the dam and back, more if you go casually and like to stop a lot like we did!

This man comes from a long line of fisherman. His family has been fishing the lake longer than a lot of family's have lived in this country. Came for the beach since I was told it was nicer than Mirror Lake State Park's beach. They were…read moresimilar, but Castle Rock's was slightly larger, and I'm told it has a nicer bottom, not as mucky as Mirror Lake. I wouldn't know for sure, though, since I didn't go in the water. I'm not a beach person, but my friends are and I wanted to be with them. I liked laying out on under the shady trees near the beach and watching the activities like a family group dragging out giant float after giant float (a camel, a rocker, a unicorn, a shark, etc.). They got them in the water, and then they promptly tipped them over whenever anyone in the family got on top of one. There were some friendly dogs there, but they weren't allowed on the beach, so one sadly got tied to a stake in the grass and had to watch their family have all the fun from a distance. Another cute 2-year old dog cried anytime anyone came near it, you could tell it wanted to play, but it's owner was an elderly gentleman who just wanted to sit in a chair and look at stuff (kind of like me). Maybe it's just me, but I would never bring my pet anywhere fun on vacation and then ignore it for hours. Anyway, it's a very crowded place on a beautiful summer day and if you like crowds and people-watching, this is the place for you. Lots and lots of people on the water boating, paddle boarding, swimming, etc. An ice cream truck came around a couple of times, there was volleyball nearby. My friends and I brought our bocce set and played a round. Nice mid-day outing.
