Hidden Gem - Saw this place on the news while the river was flooding. I have driven by this restaurant twice a week, and never thought to stop. Well....I went, and you should, too! So, let me tell you I was unprepared. I came to the front door at like 1:55 when they close at 2 on Sundays. I still apologize. This was one of the most delicious gluten free waffles I've ever had! They said it'd be fluffy and it delivered! There wasn't quite as much pulled pork as I expected, but enough to be filling. The maple peach glaze it comes with is the perfect topping. Green beans have bits of pork in them - delicious. And the slaw was a little more vinegary, which I loved. We had the Potato Bomb which is a huge baked potato with your choice of meat on it. I had the brisket on it. The brisket was so tender and so tasty. The sides of chili, cheddar grits and cole slaw were just as good. My wife had the BBQ meat quesadilla and of course EXCELLENT. Dominick took our order and was so pleasant and patient. He gave us all the info we needed about each dish as we took our time looking at the huge menu on the wall. What a cool place! They did a great job claiming this place as their awesome bbq spot. They have a decent amount of parking but when word gets out about them, I bet it becomes a bit of a struggle. I was really surprised how nice it is inside. The staff were really friendly. I was looking around for the menu and realized it's on the wall to the right of the counter. It's a little easy to miss. They have some great offerings. I got the pulled pork sandwich, a side of the brisket, cowboy beans, and pickled peppers and onions. Starting with the pulled pork. It was very juicy and flavorful. Had the right amount of smoke IMO. They recommended putting both sauces on the sandwich. They weren't wrong. Next, the brisket. My absolute favorite. They nailed it! It was perfect! Nice and tender and plenty of flavor. He brought me red sauce for it, and the sauce was really good, but the brisket doesn't need it. The cowboy beans were a really nice change from the usual sticky, gooey, sugary baked beans that most others offer. I loved the pickled onions and peppers. They were listed as spicy but most people would enjoy them and they were a great pallet cleanser between meats. I would even consider putting them on my sandwich next time. The service was really good. They were getting pretty busy as I was ready to leave but they were constantly checking on everyone making sure they were enjoying themselves. Vegetarian here and I loved loved loved this place! My husband and I try a new spot every Friday and this was this week's pick. When we arrived, what I assume was the owner greeted us at the door, asked if we had ever been there before and then proceeded to explain the process. They had several vegetarian friendly options to pick from. I chose the bbq cheese quesadilla, then got a side of the spicy peppers and onions and sweet potato cauliflower mash. My husband picked the rib sandwich and a side of beans. To top it off, we added peach cobbler. Everything arrived to our table quickly, we loved everything we had. Very fresh and well executed. As for the rest of the experience, the decor is cute, the place is clean and the staff is SO friendly and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend. I got to try Pig Candy BBQ today as part of a Yelp Elite event but I also purchased food for my mom while I was there, and we both loved the pulled pork sandwich!! I tasted the bbq before putting my sauce on and thought oh yeah, this is a hit. Personally, I loved the gold sauce and liked the white sauce, but the mixture of both and coleslaw on the sandwich was basically perfection. I couldn't quite finish it but kept stuffing myself because it's so good. Totally worth the drive from northern Kentucky. Their indoor dining is modestly size but they have a big outdoor space as well. There was someone right at the door explaining how everything worked on the menu and that was very helpful. I had the pulled pork sandwich and a friend of mine shared the sampler platter with me. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing! So flavorful and so tender. The sampler also came with lots of different meat choices and a couple of sides. We got the southern style grits as well as the beans. The beans were very flavorful and smokey. The grits were also just that perfect amount of flavor. The sauces that came with its were also excellent. It included a Carolina gold sauce, an Alabama white sauce, and a tangy red barbecue sauce. Everything here is really good to great, the owner and team care about every detail and everything it shows. Pork is second to none, turkey is excellent and I'm not a brisket fan but it was good enough. Sauces are original and across the taste spectrum. The pulled pork just rocks, really moist and fully seasoned with flavor. The pork texture is perfectly pulled. The baby back ribs are special. All sides are better than most! Pig Candy is me and my partner go-to place to eat at the moment. They offer a new take on BBQ that won't make you feel heavy/greasy after you eat a tons of meat. I had the chopped beef sandwich while my partner got the turkey and avocado sandwich with white sauce. And let me tell you, we can probably consume the whole bottle of the white sauce. Pretty cool place! I went today (Friday) around 2:30 and it was pretty empty if you are looking for a nice place that's not crowded. I have to say the food was really good! Some bbq places rely on just the sauces, the same as most wing places but this guys season everything really well. Not dry but juicy and the amount they serve is worth the price which is not expensive at all. They have a great diverse amount of beers which some are local brewed and the staff are really nice and friendly. The one negative I have to provide as a feedback is that they lack some kind of warm/crunchy sides. Some wedged potatoes, regular seasoned or sweet potatoes fries, hush poppies, etc or maybe something roasted if you wanna go a little healthier would've been perfect, something with texture. They had a very nice covered outdoor space as well as additional picnic tables below. The staff was so friendly and outgoing, too. Food was put together quickly. My husband and I got pulled pork sandwiches and we got sides of cheesy grits, baked beans, macaroni salad, and also got peach cobbler for dessert. The pulled pork just tasted average, kind of bland and very dry. The sauces they served were different, too. One was a gold mustard base sauce kind of North Carolina bbq style and the other was almost like a zesty ranch which I liked. These were served with coleslaw. The meat was so dry I didn't even finish the sandwich and gave the rest as table scraps to my dogs. Maybe they over cooked it? I've seen other reviews raving about how good it was, so maybe I just came on a bad night. The cheesy grits were delicious, but we didn't care for the macaroni salad and the baked beans so we pitched them. My dessert of peach cobbler I was so excited for but turned out to be the most disappointing. It tasted like canned peaches and white angel cake mixed together - more like a bread pudding type of dish than a cobbler... but it really didn't have a taste whatsoever either. Friendly staff. The place looks larger but smaller inside unless there are other areas we did not see. We both got the smash burger, a burger topped with pulled pork, we also got the cheesy grits, green beans, and chicken chilli. The burger was good but next time I will just get the pulled pork sandwich which is what BBQ is all about. The red sauce is tangy with a ketchup like consistency and not heavy but much better than ketchup. The cheesy grits where excellent. The Chilli was more like a soup than chilli.. we also got some rich chocolate bourbon fudge...so good bourbon and chocolate paired great. Beware because 1 pc is large enough to split. The meal was as advertised, brisket on a buttered, toasted hoagie roll, topped with melted provolone, onions, peppers and a choice of sauces. One sauce was a red BBQ sauce that was sweet and vinegary. It had a lingering flavor of fake liquid smoke that made me choose the other sauce. The Alabama sauce is a mayo based (similar to what some places serve with a fried onion blossom?). The Alabama sauce complemented the Philly sandwich very well. The quality of the brisket meat and the tenderness were excellent, very little fat or greasiness. Brisket was a little too salty for my taste. Seemed a shame to salt up good quality meat that doesn't need to be covered up, but I did finish the whole sandwich. read more

The brisket was decent, tender, and I liked the red bbq sauce but the bun became very soggy and right fell apart - I would suggest a stiffer bread for the sandwich. The portion of meat was also pretty small. Mac and cheese was god-awful. Like wet noodles sitting in water. No cheese, no flavor - went straight to the trash. Corn pudding and cole slaw were OK - not terrible like the Mac but not good. I won't be back but it was worth a try. Quality of food wasn't up to par IMO. The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches are to die for! Melt in your mouth and so flavorful. Also the candied jalapeños are delicious! They have a small indoor seating area so you can escape the heat on a summer day. And the staff are super kind and helpful. And then there are the sauces!
