We decided to venture to Thompson in search of a hidden gem and after driving thru town we found Pig Ah Boos. It was well after lunch but before dinner so the place was quiet and we weren't sure what to expect. But the owner was friendly and welcoming. He told us his most popular item was the fried rib sandwich which I decided to try. My husband ordered a couple of the $5 lunch specials thinking they would be small at that price. They were not! They were regular size! His wings and burger were good but the ribs were amazing! I would return for those alone but I will probably try some of their other items next time! I recently had one of the worst dining experiences here. From the moment I walked in, the service was shockingly rude. The staff seemed annoyed that I was even there, barely making any effort to take my order or answer questions. They had a dismissive attitude and acted like they couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. To make matters worse, the place wasn't clean. I spotted a few roaches scurrying across the floor and even on the counter where they prepare food! It was beyond disgusting and made me question how this place passed any health inspections. I found out about pigg-ah-boos around 4 years ago, and it was the best decision of my life. I live about 10 hours away from this gem, but I would drive 20 just for the food. Every single time I am even relatively close I make a point to come here. because this place has such vibrant loving people the service is amazing and the entire vibe of the restaurant is incredible. it's a small place with a big heart and the best wings in the country. Was in Thomson babysitting my two young grandsons. After a long day I decided to just pick something up for supper before heading back to Augusta. Googled for a country cooking diner and this place popped up. The owner greeted me as soon as I walked in and took time to go over the specials and other items with me. I ordered the fried ribs, Mac and cheese and fried corn on the cob to go. It was pure torchure riding the 45 minutes home smelling that plate. Andre did the catering for our wedding's rehearsal dinner. The food he brought was excellent and I had numerous questions asking where we catered from as many said it was the best BBQ they'd ever had. Not only was the food perfect, Andre was an excellent host. He took the time to introduce himself to the wedding party and guests. Our guests had a wonderful time talking to him. I have gotten texts two weeks after the wedding asking who the catering service was as they wanted to stop in next time they were in Augusta. Where to start with this little gem. First, we were welcomed by the owner who is as nice as can be which we also took a picture with before leaving. Talk about hospitality!!! I ordered the ribs but was curious about the fried ribs and the owner was nice enough to send one in my meal for me to try. About two months ago, my wife and I were passing through the area and discovered Pigg-Ah-Boo's. What a surprise! This may be the very best barbeque I ever had. The food was excellent, and the owners were wonderful. I highly recommend this place and will no doubt return when I pass by there again. Next time I am going to try some of the shrimp perhaps. Deer hunter's delight! Hits the spot after sitting in the deer stand all day long. Let's talk about the collard greens. I think I could have at the whole pot.
