Parking review. Gone are the days of getting a paper ticket at a Pike & Rose garage or paying cash at a machine. Nowadays, their machine setup is a bit different. I recently took a visit to one of the spots within Pike & Rose and when I rolled into one of their garages to grab a ticket at the entrance, I was caught off guard. Not only was there no button to press for a ticket; I noticed the setup was completely different to when I last saw it (I don't visit very often). The screen prompted me to enter my phone number, but since I was new to this whole setup, I decided to bypass that prompt entirely. It showed me as being anonymous and I noticed a 4-digit code popped up on the screen for me to remember. As I parked, I quickly noted the code and the time I entered. After taking care of things, it was time for me to head out. As I proceeded to leave (ready with the 4-digit code it gave me earlier), and pulled up to the garage exit, I noticed the bar to the gate rose up without me doing anything. So, I left. It wasn't until later I realized it must have scanned my license coming in and leaving. Good to know. Pike and Rose has everything you want from a shopping center. There are tons of restaurants: Julii, Hello Betty, Summer House, Melina, Call Your Mother and Nando's.( Just to name a few). There is shopping at Gap, Sur La Table, LL Bean, Uniqlo, and Blue Mercury. There are movies and tons of place to grab desserts, like Sunday Morning Bakehouse or The Baked Bear. Depending on where you are shopping you can get some good deals or some expensive meals. So,the value depends on where you visit. Service at each of the places I have gone to is good. I could spend a day shopping and eating at Pike and Rose and then, go see a movie. If you haven't stopped by I would give them a try. : ) read more

Pike & rose is still fairly a new shopping area with several restaurants and places to shop at. It's well taken care of, several parking garages and it's always busy with people. With restaurants, you can find items that are fairly affordable/fast food like burgerfi, all the way up to pricier options like fogo de Chão (both really good). I would say my least favorite is Nada. Overpriced and average Mexican food so it's quite disappointing. Top options for me are summerhouse and Sunday Morning Bakehouse. I personally don't do much shopping in this area as it's too expensive. I could probably purchase something more affordable further down the pike. read more

We've been going to P&R for about 12 years. While parking isn't great there, it hasn't been any worse than anyplace else.... until today. They've changed parking systems and they seem to have found the least competent parking system ever. The idea is that they take a pic of your license plate and use that to calculate time. A QR code in iPic (and elsewhere I assume) allows you to self validate. Maybe not the most privacy respecting system, but I assume they were tracking everything before, so now we get a little convenience for it. Except!! The system DOES NOT WORK. They needed a guy to stand out in front to explain the system. The website linked to the QR code went into an endless "are you a robot" loop and refused to ever validate the parking. The terminal on the way out wouldn't accept the credit card. They failed at EVERY point, it's almost impressive. It's 2025. Paying for parking is not a hard problem. I've got at least 5 other apps on my phone to handle parking. All of them work just fine, 100% of the time. I can't even get mad because it's just so pathetic that something as basic as parking gets messed up. We had a good time at P&R, except for the parking. It really spoiled the mood on a good day. read more

Best thing about Pike & Rose: 2 hours free parking (in garages and the open lot on Prose St when the Farmers' Market isn't there on Saturdays). Then it's just $1/hr. Second best? Tie between all the restaurants, bakeries (Sunday Morning Bakehouse you complete), and variety of shops. Boo to Bethesda and Silver for charging for parking every day but Sunday until 10PM. This is my go-to for restaurants now since my closest shopping destination wants so much for parking. I am amazed how exponentially this shopping area has grown. There is something for everyone, including a great movie theater that will validate your parking ticket for an additional hour (no longer the case, in Silver Spring since you have to pay an advance using your license plate number). I enjoy window shopping here, but once school is out I will be here to explore many happy hours. RIP to The Block. read more

We've been to this shopping center many times over the years, mostly to dine, but also to shop at the REI. It's a decent-sized center with many food options. Parking garages are somewhat of a pain to deal with. The do have on-street parking in some areas. read more

Pike & Rose's parking garage -- or at least the garage I entered today; there are several there -- now requires you to provide a phone number to enter, snaps a picture of your car, and matches up those two data points, presumably with tech someone sold to them as AI, to send you a text message as you exit. P&R management, this is extremely creepy, and not ok. There's no privacy policy or statement posted on entry to tell us what you might be doing with our phone number and license plate info. There's no posted URL or QR code link to a website where we can find same. There's no indication of how, or even if, we can opt out of whatever marketing programs or sellable data sets you might be putting that info on. There's no sign of whether or how we can request that our number and photo to be deleted after use, or how long you keep that data, or how secure it is. Two thumbs way way down. read more

I come here every few years hoping it will be different... but it never changes. Every shop here is some sort of trendy upscale thing that charges you easily twice what their poor quality product is really worth. I am shocked that they have the nerve to charge for parking as well... they should pay us to compensate for the displeasure of visiting them. Pike & Rose is a really nice outdoor shopping center with restaurants (from options like Julii, Call Your Mother, and Sunday Morning Bakehouse to fast casual like Sweetgreen and Chipolte), shops (Sephora, Uniqlo, H&M, Sur La Table, REI, L.L. Bean, West Elm...), and green spaces... I got a little turned around in the parking lot we parked in, but otherwise it was a nice shopping center to have a meal and a walk around. I had brunch at Julii, got a coffee at Sunday Morning Bakehouse, and bought a few tops at Uniqlo! read more

I absolutely love Pike and Rose! I feel that it offers options for everyone. You want fast casual dining, there's that or something more upscale, that's available too. I remember when this place first opened and how impressed I was. Years later and I'm still impressed, to be honest. I'm a longtime Moco girl and I like having these great options closeby. I remember going to iPic and thinking, "Wow, this was literally the best movie theater experience I've ever had and I don't ever want to go to a 'regular' theater again." Ordering food and drinks on an iPad and it being delivered right to our seats. Fancy Schmancy!! I love that there's a Fogo here now! It's one of my favorite locations in the DMV. Service there is always top-notch! Recently I was here to grab food from Nandos and I noticed there's a hotel here - Canopy. Is that new? Either way, I'm definitely looking into that for a staycation : ) Right now due to the pandemic, things haven't been the same and some places are still closed or severely limited, but I'm looking forward to the day when we return to a more "normal" life! read more

I like the way this area was developed -- I think it is smart and provides a lot of options. I have no comments on parking because I took Metro. It's a brief walk from North Bethesda station (formerly White Flint), and the intersections feel safe-ish. I'd definitely consider it a transit accessible spot. It reminds me of an amped up version of downtown Bethesda (as far as retail goes), but seemed to be lacking on the food front. The Call Your Mother somehow had better bagels than the ones in DC proper; the REI is nicer than the DC flagship; the LL Bean fills a huge void in the area ever since the Tysons Corner Center store closed. The Uniqlo, Gap, and H&M are all good. I'd go back for the LL Bean alone. read more

If you live in the area Pike and Rose is a great place to bring friends and family from out of town or meet up with friends for a quick bite. There are many great shops and restaurants squished into this area. On the weekend they have a really great farmers market to check out. Also they decorate real cute for the holidays. The parking situation is could really improve on weekends there are barely enough spots for everyone to park. Also the parking garage under the movie theater has EV spots but no chargers which is absolutely pointless. If the area right next to pinstripes was turned into a garage that would improve the situation a ton. I am also not a big fan of paying to park after the first 2 hours. I never feel like I can totally relax and enjoy my time here because in the back of my mind I am wondering how long I've been parked. I have a love-hate relationship with live-work-play places like Pike & Rose. I really like the idea of having ways that decrease the need to rely on cars since they create centers where you can get to. I like the fact that they usually have a few cool stores and good restaurants. I hate the fact that a lot of the space feels kind of like a dystopian cyberpunk future where corporations control everything. That all said, I've come around to Pike & Rose. There's some genuinely cool and useful stores and some public spaces here. I like REI. I like LL Bean. I like Call Your Mother. There's a decent sushi place (Kusshi). There's a decent ramen place (Jinya). I like the fact that they do a store-by-store trick-or-treating event at Halloween. There's some cool little boutiques you can go in. It's a surprisingly decent facsimile of the main strip of stores in an urban neighborhood, but done in a suburban outdoor mall style. Is it everything I could ever want? No. Is it a pretty nice place to hang out for a few hours, whether it's with the kids or on a date night? Yes. read more

It's beginning to look like the Holidays at Pike and Rose. The trees on the streets have been decorated with holiday lights. The shop windows are happy and bright, with holiday displays. Pike and Rose, is basically a small city created where an old shopping plaza use to stand. It was recreated into something more dynamic and vibrant, with apartment buildings, restaurants of all kinds, a movie theater, performances hall, a hotel, and shops. It's truly filled the space left, in the White Flint and North Bethesda Area, by the demise of the White Flint Shopping Center. Personally, it's my favorite spot, if I want to take in an end of week Happy Hour. It has an abundance amount of choices, offered by the many restaurants that call Pile and Rose their home. Plus, one can get into some shopping, at the various stores located at P & R. If you want the feel of a city, without the crime, dirty and congestion check out Pike and Rose. read more

MD is lucky to have Pike & Rose! This area offers live music, festivals, various events, and dining and shopping options! I love stopping by their L.L. Bean, the Sur la Table, and Uniqlo to peruse, and have enjoyed outings and meals at Julii, Sunday Morning Bakehouse, and The Baked Bear. Definitely a great place to meet up for a variety of dining options, for get-togethers, and to play catch-up if you're in the area. It's a Tuesday night, and the bar isn't too busy, but for some reason I cant seem to get the bartenders attention to order a drink, so I wait and then finally they come, but after 30 mins later, I get my drink. So... I'm done with my first drink, guess what? I have to wait another 15-30 mins for my next drink or be asked. So I finish my second drink -- an hour later. And painfully, waiting to get the bartenders attention for another 30 mins, so I can finally pay my check.... So I asked and they seem to acknowledge. But I keep waiting for another 10 mins, 15 mins, now 20 mins. So... to recap, 2 hours later I had 2 drinks and still can't get my check.... Otherwise the food is good thats around! I love the ambiance and balance of Pike and Rose! It's about 24 minutes from my house and I often forget that it's in Moco! There are so many places vying for our money and attention and this place honestly has it all. They have things for families, romantic date nights, or a night out with friends. I really plan on doing more here in the spring and summer. I see that they have added a few fast-casual restaurants and the block is just phenomenal. I want to spend more time in the REI for some hiking gear and check out the other shopping options. It was way to cold last night to walk around, but when the weather changes I will be back! Who knew the area had their own Yelp page?! As soon as it allowed me to check in I was excited to review. Pike & Rose is an amazing shopping/dining area in between Rockville and Bethesda is a magical land dubbed "North Bethesda" aka you're in Rockville but nice try. I personally love this area and there's always something new popping up. Parking can some times be a nightmare, and pay attention to street parking signs. If the sign says one hour- don't assume you can pay for one hour at a time... you'll get a ticket immediately into the second hour. Once you've found a parking spot you'll find plenty of shopping and places to dine nearby (also a movie theater). My favorites are Bibibop for lunch, Pin Stripes for Sunday Brunch, Sunday Morning Bake House for breakfast, and Santa Monica for the cookies. My favorite thing at Pike and Rose is coming in the summer for "the beach". I'm not sure if this is a permanent installation but it's great! My only criticism is there's no one walking around to make sure rules are being followed. I would also love to see Pike & Rose become a smoke free community. Lots of areas nearby are banning smoking and it makes hanging out aka spending more money more enjoyable. I'll continue stopping by and enjoy finding gems. read more

Parking kills an otherwise fun place. See the attached photo. Here you see a broken-down auto + Pike/Rose staff standing around. I drove up to this car; discovered it was immobile; and exited in reverse into on-coming traffic. Why could the two photoed "stand-arounders" simply warn those in search of parking to avoid the corridor with the disabled auto? In addition, the green-colored indicators showing the number of open spots in a garage are teasers; not ataccurate. Lastly, the corner turns in the garage abutting Owens Ordinary & the sushi restaurant have blind spots & are simply dangerous. I like the place Sun-Thurs. Update: things haven't changed. P&R has two outdoor lots. There is no way to know if space is available unless you take a ticket; enter; waste your time driving around; and exit. You might engage a driver over the one available spot; he "saw it first." I engaged in this yesterday. A garage green sign read "38 Spaces." Based no experience, I knew this really meant "zero," and left. Re: Response from Pike & Rose. Yes, I wrote my review today, Sat morning, from Pike & Rose. Nice, upscale outdoor shopping area with a mix of retail, restaurants, and outdoor areas. I like the fake beach area, though it tends to be overrun with families and rugrat kids (which is most of Montgomery County). (Thankfully there's The Lot in Arlington, which is a fake beach bar for adults.) Nada is pretty good for tacos, though it definitely seems to appeal to groups or couples because of the scant availability of bar seating. As a reminder, the first two hours are free (at least, this was the case on a Sunday). The retail seems to be doing well. We shopped at REI for an upcoming trip. I literally pass this on my way to work and on my way home several days a week and finally went there the other day. I didn't feel as bad since my good friend who I met for dinner who is a proud Marylander, hadn't been here either. We got there somewhat before the dinner rush so finding parking wasn't too awful but mind you during busy times, the surface lot I parked on was full. Not to mention I realized the spaces are a bit tight. The plus about parking here though is the first two hours are free! We walked around a little and its a super cute area, they already started with the Christmas lights. There's a little beach area which I'm sure is pretty popular during the warmer months. We didn't go and shop at the stores but there seems to be a great variety. I will certainly make a point to come back again. read more

The newest development in the Rockville area. This place continues to bring in new restaurants, shops, and more living spaces. From fancy dining restaurants such as Summer House, Del Frisco, Stella Barra, Pinstripes, City Perch, and Owens Ordinary, to quick service restaurants such as Starbucks, Chipotle, &pizza, Roti, and Bibibop, there are many more lined up in the next few months. I'm excited for Kung Fu Tea, a bubble tea shop, and Jinya, a ramen bar, to open here since the only other location is in Mosaic District in VA. Besides dining, the many shops that line the corners include H&M, Gap, Francescas, L.L. Bean, REI, the Nike Factory Store, Sur La Table, and Sephora, it's exactly like an outdoor mall! But even better. When I get the chance on the weekends, (free two hour parking in the garage) I'll even stop by their Farmer's Market for fresh cheese and vegetables! Make sure to come earlier for better selections! As Pike and Rose continue to open more living spaces, expect to see more people and crowds! You'll enjoy spending a Friday evening there with your significant other and stop by iPic Theatres or Strathmore AMP for a jazz show! read more

UPDATE: Management here is on top of everything: issues are actually heard and something is being done to fix them. Impressive. Kudos to management for the creativity: the new beach area is pretty cool. I mean nothing can replace a real beach, but this is like a huge sandbox and kids are having fun there. Families chilling, there's a bar, there are beach chairs. Pretty cool. P&R is our favorite area to hang out on the weekends. UPDATE. Old review. This is a very good area for families and not only. Lots of shopping, great food options, movie theater, areas to walk after meals. 1 complain i have however, dog owners and management need to get it under control with the dog poop in the area. Parents with children know what I'm talking about. And i know for some people dogs are their babies. But i don't mark everywhere we go with my baby's diapers by throwing them around, so please respect other people by collecting your dog's poop. A couple of suggestions: 1. Install dog poop bag dispensers. 2. Start fining dog owners. Also, i recall last year the elevators from parking garage didn't have working AC during summer. It was kinda horrifying to use them on hot days ( with a baby and a stroller we kinda stuck with 2 choices of hauling stroller over the stairs or using elevators). We'll see if this changes this upcoming summer 2018. Ps. Also a suggestion for fellow pike&rose frequenters: let's take pictures and shame them publicly here if we see someone not cleaning after their dogs. read more

I would like to give it 5 stars but I'm withholding the until something that is a pet piece gets addressed. This place is getting better and better as the months go by since they started a staggered opening here a couple of years ago. There are several good restaurants and stores and a great movie theatre. The atmosphere and the outdoor walkways are superb. Right now I have two complaints. The elevator in the parking structure gets ridiculously hot in the summertime. A high end place like this should fix that asap. Someone is going to pass out there one day. The second complaint? Management needs to put up signs in the grassy area of the parks by llbean to enforce rules about pets and poop. Seriously it's bad. You do all this work to attract families to this center and let the park get filthy? It needs to be addressed. More that likely is your own residents doing it. read more

Long ago, this spot was an undistinguished strip mall with a huge parking lot and a few easy to access stores. Then some "brilliant" developers spent billions to turn it into a supposedly upscale mixed use development with a maze of narrow streets that are jammed with lumbering SUVs, construction vehicles, and double parked delivery trucks. It's the worst aspects of Greenwich Village -- all of the blood pressure raising congestion, none of the charm. The most annoying aspect is that shops on the perimeter, which once were easily accessed from Rockville Pike, are no longer. You must trundle through the streets of the development and enter a ticketed parking lot, so you can be charged for what used to be free. read more

Every weekend evening there is a line of cars up and down the main drag (Grand Park) waiting to get into the parking garage. The noise, exhaust, and gridlock makes for an unpleasant experience and make me wonder who planned this mess. There should have been entrances to the garage that are accessible on the periphery. read more
