So much to do here. In the winter, I love ice skating. Today they had the Memorial Day Parade with lots of performances. Lots of nearby parking garages which can be free and some are paid. My favorite places here: Library, BobaPOP, Kyoto, 5 Guys , First Watch. Lots of Pokestop or gyms if you play Pokémon go. Alot of good restaurants are gone :( so make sure you check before coming here. Oh yeah Trader Joe's is here and with free 60 minute parking! read more

Rockville Town Center does a bunch of community events, which is pretty cool! Memorial Day Weekend had their Hometown Holidays event so my family went out to see The Warped Tour Band do some emo/punk covers. A lot of people brought chairs but we found seats along the wall on the side of the main stage. There were different food and drink vendors and other stalls, portalettes, and some covered seating as well. We had a good time. We generally only come to this part of the area for the movie theater, so it was cool to see it with such a community event focus! read more

This is a fun plaza -- there are a few options for parking, mainly the garage and right along the main streets you drive through. If you're up for walking, there's a neighborhood with some free parking a few blocks away... just watch the signs for the times. On the square itself, it changes based on the time of year. Sometimes it's an ice rink, sometimes it's a dance class, sometimes it's a bunch of popup vendors, sometimes it's live music... it's quite a blast with all the yummy restaurants surrounding it, that's for sure! When looking at all the shopping and dining options overall, it's quite a diverse selection that yo can pick from, and I'd say there's something for almost everyone. There's a couple cuisines I could pick out that are missing, but otherwise it's definitely a plaza worth visiting if you're in the area. Just an updated review of Rockville because it's still one of my favorite places to hang out and that should be recognized. There's a ton of community events in this town square (especially for the holidays). The community does several pop up stores, there's plenty of restaurants and arts and crafts stores as well. I really enjoy the diversity and variety of activities in this area and garage parking is always available. Even housing around this area is slightly pricer but still within reason. read more

We used to live near the town square. We loved coming here all the time. Winter time they have an ice rink and summer time they have the splash thingies for the kids. It's very lively usually. Since it's surrounded with restaurants and little boutiques. Now there had been plenty of changes since i guess the pandemic happened and a lot of stores closed already. They did however added more restaurants Gyuzo, Bobapop and Kyoto Matcha desserts are like the more colorful additions. But however it's sugar and other places has closed down. They added a lot of outdoor seating due to covid protocols and such. It's nice it reminds me of Bethesda. They should add like asian bread cafes here it would be a nice addition to this area. read more

My hotel was across the street from this area. It's a nice little designed area for all the people that live in the apts and condos that are built over the retail shops. My company has supplied windows for jobs just like this but I rarely get to see the end results of such developments. This kind of place is strictly for urban dwellers, folks who are already used to living in crowded spaces. The town square itself has a nice little area for kids to play and right next to it is a bandstand for performers/events. While I was there, there was a Latin music event going on, LOTS of dancers and their families hanging around watching or patronizing the various retail establishments. Quite a number of the people there live in the luxury or affordable housing that is built over the area. One thing I will say that did my heart good was the mix of folks in the area having a good time. It was easily one of the most race, sex and age diverse crowds I've ever been in. Everybody was having a great time and there was no drama of any kind among the hundreds of folks milling around. Of course one of the main reasons for this I believe is the fact that there were ZERO cops around. No posers armed to the nines pretending they're patrolling the streets of Baghdad, standing around hassling the younger folks playing around. They and none of their provacative behavior were necessary for a good time to be had by all. I appreciated the various eating places being so close to my hotel and the area is kept very clean for having such foot traffic. Cute outdoor shopping "district" laid out over 3-4 blocks of downtown Rockville (which is actually north of a lot of the shopping centers that line Rockville Pike). Decent eating establishments and a great, open space commons in the center with brightly colored Adirondack chairs and nice sized sitting boulders. Rockville Public Library is right here alongside cute shops and a variety of restaurants. Not a destination spot but thoroughly enjoyable and family-friendly shopping area. read more

This used to be a good place to go with some nice events, shops and restaurants. The library was welcoming, but it has been closed for months. VisArts is a great art gallery, and Dawson's a nice healthy foods market, but those are about the only reasons I go there these days. Now you get parking tickets or even towed frequently. There are also a lot of speed and red light cameras here. Just another way for governments to steal people's money. I avoid this area as much as possible now. Go somewhere friendlier for customers with ample free parking and no traffic cameras, such as Kentlands or Rio. read more

What a delightful town square. It's got everything you need to inspire great atmosphere and people-watching: fountains for children to run through, music performance venue, street stalls, restaurants with outdoor seating, picnic benches not attached to restaurants, a market for fresh produce, ice cream store, sexy bar, and a public library. For a weighty, government-beaurocracy dominated town like Washington DC, it's delightful to find a folksy-feeling space dedicated to the pleasure of a multi-generational cross-section of people. Teenagers are hanging out, toddlers are scampering on the play rocks, tweens are pulling off cartwheels on the square, and old people are trailing around in amusement. Unlike in many public spaces in DC where there are important statues or food truck congregations but sadly little public seating, here you are invited to dwell and enjoy the space as a civic activity. You are not treated as an afterthought in the architecture. The architecture is expressly for you. I guarantee you this is a feel good space for a date, to spend a summer evening watching an open-air performance, having a drink al fresco, and watching others passing by. This place has a little bit of everything when it comes to eating as you have your choice of American, Korean, Peruvian, Spanish, Middle Eastern, Italian, Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese, Thai and French food and they are all walking distance from each other. There are places to go shopping as well like boutiques for clothes and extras and there is even a grocery store that has Organic or Natural foods. Plenty of parking as they have several garages (in certain ones you can get your first 2 hours as complimentary). Looking for something to do - they have it. Movies on the Square, Wine events or even Friday Night Live concert series are among many events they have during the summer. There is a movie theater nearby that shows first run movies. The Rockville Hometown Holidays is held in the area every year (a huge festival with food, music, activities). There is even an ice skating rink that opens up during the winter months. Don't feel like driving...there is a metro station within walking distance. It is a great place to hang out and just explore. read more

An okay manifestation of the 'Town Square' concept, which however needs to think about a few amenities and systems now if it's going to be post-pandemic. It's great to have the big County Library in the square. And Dawson's Market is a real gem. However, access to RTC is a little weird. One problem at the moment is that Gibbs street was closed to auto traffic and completely pedestrianized last year. While that may have been understandable at the time, the issue now is that it eliminates many accessible, barrier-free parking spaces. Thus, RTC is not so easy to reach in practice for people with limited mobility. On a related note, signposting and wayfinding is not great if you are approaching by car and planning to park in the garage. RTC has some competitors in the county, and it's true some of them are more elite, yet some of the others also seem to be executing on all this let's-build-a-city-in-the-suburbs concept in more inviting ways. read more

I love Rockville Town Square! They definitely have stepped their game up with adding new restaurants. It's been a while since I've hung out here and I was excited to see new spots I bookmarked that I can yelp about! I attended Rocktobeirfest this past weekend for the first time and it was an awesome experience. I'm not sure if RTC hosts this event every year but my sister and I had a blast. They didn't have much choices for food but plenty of options for beer! It was my very first time trying bratwurst with sauerkraut and holy goodness I devoured the whole thing in 5 minutes. One of the vendors had fried oreo's and funnel cakes. Since I missed out on eating a funnel cake in Ocean City this past summer, that was numero uno on my list! Every bite was worth the calories. The weather was perfect with good drinks, good company, and good eats! read more

I really, really want Rockville Town Square to succeed. I was so psyched years ago when the first phase opened and it was announced that a beautiful two level Super Fresh food emporium was planned for the space occupied now by Dawson's Market. The parent company, Great A&P, now defunct, had been interested in the location after Whole Foods passed on the space. Eventually Super Fresh bowed out as well. Why I write the above preface to my comments is that no grocery store will ever succeed in the space without a $400,000 grant/subsidy from the City of Rockville. The problem is parking fees. You can go over to the Giant on Hungerford Drive and park free. Even within the Downtown Rockville "triangle" you can shop at Asian food stores and park free. Please, Rockville City official and planners, drop the short term fees. Give 3 hours free parking. See how many people return to love this shopping district. Pike and Rose succeeds, other shopping "meccas" planned for parcels across from the Twinbrook Metro will succeed and sadly, Rockville Town Center will stagnate and decline. read more

We love Rockville Town Square. This a good place for the entire family. There are quite a few good restaurants around the square and good dessert options too. They do have many activities at the square too - water sprinklers during summer and ice skating during winter! They even do a good job at decorating up the square for the Holidays. There is ample county parking near the square and most businesses provide validated parking too. read more

How does this place have 4+ star reviews? All the businesses have shut down and there is no parking. I mean, I walk here so it's not a big deal for me, but for the people that drive places, Pike and Rose has free parking for 2 hours. Just saying. I was so excited when they opened this little "district". And I really want to love it, but all the businesses have shut down. Dawson's market is the only thing this place has going for it. They really need to attract some new restaurants and stores. The square is a ghost town. I feel like parents bring their kids here to burn off some energy before bed, which is why they like it, but the people that bring the revenue to keep these places open are going elsewhere. The summer concert series is a lot of fun. This is where my stars are going. Decent musicians and it's something chill to do on a Friday night when you just want to get out of the house. They were going to have a "Fitness on the Square" this year, but it's almost June and the website hasn't been updated so fingers crossed that actually happens. However, while abundant, parking is NOT free on the weekends, or any other day. Many merchants will validate for two free hours WITH PURCHASE. that's the stated rule. All the dining establishment do, and most of the other places do too (except the new IT'SUGAR for now). Been going here for years as a local resident. Our family walks to the Town Square are always a fun adventure. There is always something happening in the square or on stage to enjoy. There's tons of places to choose from to eat or just check out. From Mellow Mushroom, Five Guys, La Tasca, Bar Louie, Gordon Beirsch and a bunch more. If you have little ones, you can't beat the Fountain at RTS. They are on from about 12-5 most days I believe and absolutely free for the kids to enjoy. On a hot day, there's nothing more refreshing (and cost effective) with the kids than the awesome Library and the Fountain. There's something for everyone at RTS. So lucky to have this place in my backyard! read more

I've been coming to RTC to meet up with friends for years, and it never gets old! Some stores/shops come and go, but the "anchor" establishments are always there. There's a quaint little square-shaped outdoor courtyard-esque area behind the Rockville Memorial Library where you can take a walk, admire the flowers, and enjoy free summertime movies and performances on Friday nights! Many, many shops and restaurants to choose from, all within the same block and a less than .5 mile radius from the center. I would definitely recommend RTC for a get-together with friends. There's always a new shop to explore or event to discover! Minus one star because it can get really crowded during weekends, and parking is horrendous, as per usual in Rockville. Expect to pay around $4-$8 to utilize the parking garage across the street, as parallel parking spots are hard to come by. read more

The Rockville Town Square has many restaurants to my liking!!! My favorite is Gordon Biersch. Other places I've tried are BonChon, Buffalo Wild Wings, La Tasca, Lebanese Taverna, Marble Slab, Miso Fusion, Peter Chang, Spice Xing, Starbucks, Sushi Damo and Thai Pavilion. Out of those, GB, Lebanese Taverna, Miso Fusion, Starbucks and Thai Pavilion are the ones I've been to multiple times. Overall, it's a nice area to dine at, walk around and relax a bit. 4.5 stars How could anybody really NOT like Rockville Town Center come on now it has just about everything you could want in a shopping, living, eating, working environment. Every weekend all through out the summer it has plenty of entertainment much of which is free. Where else can you say to people I saw Hootie and the Blowfish, Blues Traveler, Rick Springfield, and Bruce Born in the USA (he is a Vegas act dead-on doppelganger for the real Boss a sound alike, look alike, talk alike, walk alike) all for the low low price of only the cost of gas driving over there. Every Memorial day weekend they bring on street festivals and outdoor concerts all for free a way of giving back to the city and to promote local businesses. Speaking of which the local businesses restaurant wise they are a plethora to choose from a little something for any pallet. If you are craving sushi they got it if you want sort of southwestern they got that too. If frozen yogurt is your bag then don't worry flower child they have it there all for you. Cool shops like 10,000 villages and other small boutique stores round out the shopping experience. A multiplex movie theater for all the teen angst to loiter around. With bars to hang out but unfortunately not too late and a roof top party sometimes during the summer to give some people a little spot to get their groove on. Like I say it is a nice little city with in a city a good place to go when driving all the way downtown is out of the question. No doubt that this place has done wonders for the city of Rockville and continually shall as it grows into all that it can be and that is some place that's pretty nice. I guess by being an old geezer I remember how back in the olden times this whole spot used to be a really run down dump of a strip strip mall and a big over grown sketchy parking lot. Across the way over near where the theater is used to be the old Rockville Mall which was designed by a guy who designs prisons and it actually looked like a prison too. Dark and foreboding but look at it now shinning and full of humanity. I'll take it the current Town Square over suburban decay of the past any day. read more

I've passed by this area for 7 months now, now knowing how awesome it is on the inside! From R Pike, all you see is a huge building but when we went to find BonChon that just opened, WHOA, it is a gem in the middle of Rockville! It reminded me of the new trendy type of shopping centers, like the Grove in LA or Santana Row in San Jose, CA ... like what you'd expect to see on a TV show when the family goes out shopping in the suburbs, but not with all the big name brand name stores. Lots of local variety and tons of eating options. Since it was winter, there was also a skating rink in the middle! There's lots of street parking on the one way streets and if not, a huge parking structure. Will def come back when the weather warms up! read more

Love this plaza and so close to home. There are several events that are held here on weekends especially during the summer. The summer events include outdoor movie nights and concerts! Now there is an ice-skating rink in the center of the plaza. Can't wait to check it out soon. There are also an array of restaurants, cafes, shops, and services including but not limited to Noodles & Company, Thai Pavilion, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lebanese Cafe, Starbucks, and Color Me Mine. this place has really grown and expanded since i was a teen living in the area. it used to be known for the regal movie theatre, but now, there is a proper town center with plenty of shoppes, restaurants, bars, cafes, even an outdoor ice rink in the wintertime! there's several parking structures just steps from the square, so you're never at a loss for where to park while you visit. parking is free on sundays, but you have to pay all of the other days of the week. great place to hang out with friends and family and get a taste of downtown historic rockville. read more

The parking meters at the town square operate until 9pm or later on weeknights. It's insane. I took my daughter to the library at 830pm and received a parking ticket. What an absolute waste of humanity. I loathe the public officials that oversee this disgusting travesty.
