The…read morelactation nurse she worked with after she went home really went above and beyond and tried everything to get my daughter to start producing. Unfortunately after the colostrum, her milk supply peaked at 2 ounces and then went down from there. There's a few reasons why this happened but it wasn't for lack of trying or the expert help at the Lactation Center Boutique. Also shout out to the momma's who donate their milk to the milk bank. That got them through while she was still trying to get her supply to increase. After a rough couple of weeks and baby losing too much weight they all agreed, switching to formula would be best for her and their little guy. PSA: Ladies, if you see mom's out there using formula? Don't look down your nose at them. You don't know why or what their story is. My daughter was devastated and so upset that she couldn't produce enough, which was part of why she wasn't producing. The stress she felt certainly did not help. She had a rough end to her pregnancy and a traumatic birth. That, combined with the stress of what society expects from new mommas, is why they feel she didn't produce. Some women don't want to breastfeed, some need to take medications that aren't safe for baby, some don't produce. My advice? Be kind to one another and mind your own business if you can't.

After weeks and weeks of serious nipple pain, I felt like I had to talk to someone and see if I was doing something wrong. I had a home birth and was a little afraid that I would be judged somehow at this lactation center in a hospital. I am really happy to report this wasn't the case. Every call I made was answered by someone extremely helpful, even willing to give advice over the phone. When I came in to meet with a lactation consultant ($25) I did not feel rushed; the proper time and care was given to review my concerns and try to determine solutions. I felt cared for. They also have many products so that you don't have to go somewhere to try to solve your problems: nipple shields, breast shields, gel pads, breast pump accessories, nursing covers, etc., When I came back in to buy accessories for the breast pumps offered at my work, the woman at the center took the time to show me how to use them on the actual breast pump. I know when I had my baby I felt so stressed about breastfeeding and if I was doing things right. I didn't know where to go. Now I do, and that is great peace of mind.

Now I'm going on eight months of nursing, my baby thanks to Amanda's help. Amanda helped me with a newborn and continue to help me with our baby. I'm not even sure how Mamahood doesn't have five stars. I went through lactation support groups and classes and had a different lactation consultant before finding Mamahood and struggled so hard. I wish I would've started with Mamahood to begin with. I see a lot of other reviews that are upset because their baby got diagnosed with tongue ties from Mamahood and their pediatrician or another doctor didn't catch the tongue tie, but I'm here to say that Mamahood caught my babies ties EVEN though OUR PEDIATRICIAN didn't think my baby had them. Well, after we saw a pediatric dentist and got my baby's ties cut - everything was so much better. My milk supply went up and my baby was able to eat better even out of a bottle. Getting my babies ties cut was a really hard decision in the moment but one of the best decisions we've done for her and I am so thankful for Mamahood for leading me in the right direction.

In addition to having an adorable selection of maternity clothes- seriously going in makes me want to get pregnant again just so I can shop there- they have a delightful alcove of toys my son adores. I've been taking my almost 2 year old son to Toddler and Momma yoga on Friday mornings for almost 6 months and we love it! I my past before baby life I went to yoga classes several times a week, but now that I have a little guy and limited childcare, I've had to content myself to my daily quick morning practice. Although it's not the same as an adult class, it's a great opportunity to introduce a little one to yoga, and as mine says, "see babies and mommies" (and sometimes daddies too). I always appreciate how Miss Casey, the instructor, sets a casual, fun mood for the class with fun songs and movement for the kids. My son likes it too, and lately has been peppering our days with his favorite snippets from class, and ever time we drive by The Mama'hood, he points and says his name, followed by mommy go yoga. Which, when you're not quite 2, is a 5 star review for sure.

I was looking for something more evidence based and traditional than the hospital care I've had in the past but more structured than the home birth I had with a single midwife. The team based approach they take at the center hits exactly the right blend. My experience was natural, cozy, and personal, while still feeling incredibly safe, as no decision is based on the sole discretion of a single individual. My favorite parts were having choices at every turn and getting to go home and sleep in my own bed the night baby was born. Overall, the team informed, helped, respected and TRUSTED me. If I could, I would go back and tell myself to have all my babies here, so I'm taking the opportunity to tell you instead. You won't regret it.

It could be that they have terrible software as far as patient portals go. I came in for my first OB visit and was told I was supposed to pay this specific amount. I have no issue paying but let me get through the appointment first and meet the midwife that might be delivering my baby.

Seriously, Marianne is INCREDIBLE. She's knowledgeable, kind, patient and helped make one of the hardest times easier. Beast feeding is hard. Doing it alone is harder. I had a brand new baby and thought the help the hospital gave me was enough but it wasn't. I needed latching help. I needed help with how long to allow the baby to nurse on each side. Marianne sat with me and coached me through it all and was available for help anytime after. I'm so grateful my friends referred me to KMak. I had had lactation help from the hospital, so I thought I was just a lost cause and we would never get it right. I couldn't imagine a time when breastfeeding wouldnt be excruciating. Then our pediatrician recommended marianne. She came right out to our house and she was so caring, helpful and very experienced. I immediately felt comfortable and taken care of! In one appointment, she fixed our latch, recommended how to care for my damage, showed me how to use my haaka, confirmed how much our daughter was drinking per feeding and showed me how to use our baby carriers. I can't tell you how amazing it was to be able to say I have "zero pain" breastfeeding. Not only was Marianne so helpful in our appointment, but she remained communicative and continued to check on me afterwards. She was always there if I have a question or concern. I cannot recommend her enough!

This is by far the most money I have EVER paid for this service thinking I was going to get something unique and holistic. Unfortunately, not only was it hard to maintain consistent and regular communication, but the training advice was such a one-sized fit all plan. It's like Rachelle has a program that she plugged in information and then you are told to never deviate. There is no skill building, just a quick cessation of all night feeds while you are told to soothe. I tried a few times to get my money back, and they asked if I would try again. I said yes and that was a pretty big mistake on my part. Over Thanksgiving break, I just did it without her help, and after I emailed saying I had done it on my own, she just about took all the credit and hasn't checked up or tried to see if I would like anymore of that $1500 service I paid for. I tried being kind and polite, and that was mistake. Please go elsewhere, the help here is very minimal but very expensive.

I'm very disappointed to have to leave this review here but here it goes. I hired Rachelle to help…read morewith my five month old's sleep in August. I paid over $800 for her "sleep consulting" package in addition to paying for ten nights of sleep trainers over a four month period ($4,500). My baby is now ten months old and still not sleeping well. This is my third baby and I've worked with other sleep consultants. Rachelle's "method" consists on eliminating night feeds. It does not teach your baby any skills for sleeping independently. Not all babies wake due to hunger. My baby (and so many babies) struggles to connect sleep cycles. Her plan gave me no tools to help with this. When I reached out to her for help, I would often receive extremely delayed responses (often days later) and when I did get responses, they were difficult to understand, and I would have to text back many times to clarify what I was supposed to be doing. If I was having an issue, I was often made to feel like I was doing something wrong, and I did not feel supported in this process. For example, her plan says that the baby needs to nap in his crib once a day. But my baby would cry anytime I put him in the crib for the nap. When I asked her how to accomplish this, she just repeated that he needed a nap in the crib. Other sleep trainers will be much more responsive, troubleshoot when things are going wrong, and shift the plan to adapt to your baby instead of constantly just repeating the plan that isn't working. As a client, I felt like we were an afterthought and not a priority. Unless we were scheduling night help which she helped with promptly (this was probably because we paid a ton of money when we used the night help). I reached out to Rachelle over a week ago to explain my concerns and have had zero response back. We had a few stops and starts due to illness, which is a normal thing to occur and each time we were starting from scratch because we hadn't actually given our baby any skills to put himself to sleep. After spending thousands of dollars with her, a response feels pretty necessary. I will say she did a good job of placing sleep trainers when we needed them. But having sleep trainers didn't really help us because as soon as we needed to take over our baby behaved completely differently (because, of course he does). Additionally, it didn't seem like she communicated what the sleep training plan was with the sleep trainers because every night they arrived, they asked me what they were supposed to be doing. There are definitely other sleep trainers in the area that will provide more support, respond in a timely manner, ad actually help your baby learn how to sleep not just how to not eat at night. I'm honestly in shock that we spent this much money and I am still sleep deprived. I would definitely not recommend using Rachelle.
