Hello OTF Guelph team,…read more I have been in the Ontario region for the better part of two weeks now and have had the opportunity to visit and work out at many of the OTF studios in the region. The experience has been ok, one was pretty poor in one of the studios, however last night I was luckily enough to get into the 830pm class in the OTF Guelph studio. Right away first impression blew me away, the two wonderful staff members who were working the counter were very friendly and welcoming. I felt so welcome coming into the studio. Extremely clean and well kept, to me it looked liked the studio opened up a month ago, surprised that the studio had been open for so long. Then I met the coach for my class. Jet was so full of energy and was so personable and genuine. Had a great conversation and got ready for the class. When Coach Jet was doing his prep with the group he went out of his way to recognize me as a guest from out of town and that is was my birthday as well and got the group to welcome me with a round of applause. WOW, I felt jacked up for my workout. Jet brought it. Motivating and attentive to everyone in the class, I had one of those moments that I normally get in my home studio (OTF Davie - Vancouver) where I am on the tree and the coach is pushing the group, motivating - I have a moment where I think how lucky I am to be part of a community like OTF. The city of Guelph is so lucky to have a studio like this, filled with amazing staff. Thank you for having me and I really look forward to dropping in again next time I am in the GTA. I've improved a lot more since joining her classes because Robin is diligent about cueing me on the finer points of alignment to develop a sustainable practice and really understand the pose. For example, I struggled a lot with my hand placement in my planks, and Robin was the only teacher to cue me on how to stop dumping all my weight into my wrists. She's also very understanding and supportive about questions or offering alternative options if I need them. Robins classes have become a key part of my running recovery and conditioning routine, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to develop a yoga practice, improve mental health and physical strength, or improve their sport-specific strength and recovery.

They continually pay minimum wage, for lifeguarding, which is a qualified position and barely over minimum wage for teaching lessons. They hide this behind the fact that all staff members receive free memberships, DO NOT be fooled because staff receive basic memberships, not even plus; as well other facilitates give memberships and pay over the minimum wage.

For each exercise they typically have a number of scaling options to help work your way up. Also, the class sizes are quite small which allow the coaches to give you targeted pointers. The place has a great social element as well, with lots of fun conversation during the warm-ups. I was only signed up for a short time since I was just visiting Guelph, but they treated me with the same level of welcome and attention as any other member. CrossFit is definitely an intense workout. But if you are ready to make a commitment, I'd highly recommend you give this place a try. You're going to love it!
