I found the perfect teacher for me after attending this studio. Otherwise they would get 1/2 star. They have the right lineage. They have all the equipment and are one of a very few places around Seattle to offer any classic mat classes. But you need to be knowledgeable and very careful. They have people teaching that pay no attention to individuals, do no correction, and do not offer alternatives. I was injured due to lack of care and instruction and supervision. I am over 65, overweight and very flexible. It would have been worse if I wasn't fairly knowledgeable about what I could safely do. Suffice to say, it's your choice, there are precious few good teachers. Just be vigilant. I didn't write this to complain but to alert potential students/clients to the possibility of danger/injury. read more

I've been training here with Steve for 18 months now and my body has transformed! My core is now strong, I feel better and I look better. My back doesn't hurt anymore. I used to have hunched shoulders and poor posture most of my life (working at a computer most of the time), but now friends and family tell me how much better I look. The other day I bounded up several flights of stairs without even getting out of breath, while my partner (who is active and in generally ok shape) took longer and was huffing and puffing by the time he reached the top. He said, "I guess your Pilates is working!" I'm grateful to Pilates Seattle for helping me get into shape and feel better than I have in years. read more

This is the best experience I have had with PT in Washington or California. I worked with Anna for almost a year two rehab two injuries and she was GREAT to work with. Anna listened to what I had to say, took my pain seriously, and worked with me to reach my goals. When I re-injured myself after completing PT initally they were able to get me in at the last minute and I was able to start recovery immediately. As I continue to recover I feel like I have all the tools to succeed! read more

After my car accident last May, a coworker recommended I try Pilates Seattle for my physical therapy. I worked with Sachiko for about 4 months and she's absolutely amazing! My neck and back are stronger than they've been in my entire life! Sachiko really knows what she's doing and finds exercises that will challenge your muscles just enough to build them back up, but not too much that you're not sure if it's good pain or bad pain! She really pays attention to the smallest details of the therapy, so you get the maximum benefit out of each exercise! After completing my physical therapy, they gave me a month free of pilates classes to contine my strengthening. I was still at the beginner stage (we'll call it beginner plus!) and I went to as many classes as I could! The classes are small, the instructors are friendly and give personalized attention, and I loved the experience! If I ever do pilates as my main form of exercise, I would definitely choose Pilates Seattle! read more

I far prefer this studio to Metropolitan Pilates, but the location if far less convenient, and parking can be a drag. They always seem to attract great instructors. Give them a try if you live/work in the neighborhood. read more

I am disappointed and a little amazed to see that another Yelper had such a negative experience at this place. I have personally had nothing but amazing, top-notch experiences every time I have been here. I have seen a couple of the Physical Therapists here and they are very professional, extremely effective, and very unique in their use and knowledge of Pilates as a part of rehabilitation. I have had to wait a few weeks sometimes to get in, because all of the therapists often have so many patients they seem to end up having wait lists. That just speaks to the fact that this place is really one of the best Pilates and Physical Therapy studios in the area. The Pilates instructors are equally as well-trained and amazing. I have especially loved working with Rick and Barbara, although all of the teachers I have worked with have been amazing. The instructors here see things that other instructors elsewhere just don't seem to notice, and I always leave feeling revitalized! Their Front Desk staff seems really top-notch as well. They have called me for PT and Pilates appointments last minute and are always courteous and pleasant to work with. I have gone to this outfit for physical therapy for almost 2 years off and on. I have some positive and negative feedback. Yes the physical therapy instruction is good. I have only gone to Sachiko who is a very seasoned therapist but who overall lacks much warmth to her bedside manner. If you say an exercise hurts, sometimes it goes unnoticed. If you show up in a lot of pain and tell her that, she answers "good" and then the session proceeds. Again but to her credit she is very knowledgeable in all things pilates and knows exactly how to cater your pt program to strengthen your "core" so that improvement and strength is noticed over time. Kudos to her for that as getting out of pain is critical to having a good quality of life. As far as office policies, it would appear the company is always right and the customer is wrong and never given the benefit of the doubt. I have only not shown up once over the course of the many many PT sessions over the last 2 years and this was for an appointment I was not aware that was on the books. I was called at home and explained this to Sachiko. She told me the policy - you get one mistake then after that you are charged $40. So then when I show up I am again told this in a very abrupt abrasive way. I really only need to be told once. At the end she says "OK?" No answer from me and she says not even skipping a beat "Good!" Another time I woke up very sick with and called in right at 7am and was told if I didn't show I would need to pay $40 as that would be the second time. Or the recep said I could talk to the mgr and see if she could waive this fee. But she had no idea when the mgr would be in, could be after my appointment. So I had to show not feeling well at all. I showed for my appt and asked Sachiko to help me write down a routine I could do at home since I did not feel well enough to do any exercises that day. She said she didn't have time! Didn't I have a 45 minute appt? She said writing it down was not a good way. Again who is the customer here? Even though these snafus have been experienced I would recommend this place for PT. Make sure you click with your therapist and expectations are set. It is always packed there so I am sure all the pts are great and knowledgeable. They have all been through very very very extensive training. And it is great to have somewhere to go that is a pilates based physical therapy. It is a very clean place, no problems with parking - plenty of street parking at least when I have gone. Easy access off the freeway. Receps are professional and make the appt process easy and can wait list you for a specific time. Overall it would just be nice to feel like the customer is just a little bit important and understood when it comes to administrative policies. Sure tell me your policies but do it with respect. If a customer is sincerely not feeling well, offer choices rather than saying you must show or pay. People do get sick without knowing they will be ahead of time. And really should someone sick be showing up to a public place filled with lots and lots of people? Doesn't seem like that would be good for the business. read more

I went here for PT and Pilates, staff is mediocre, and their billing is done by a third party business, which they will use as an excuse for overcharging you. The bills I've received from them were confusing, unorganized, and did NOT reflect what I actually received. When I tried to resolve issues they were excellent at making excuses and avoiding responsibility. Poor billing transparency and communication for okay services, I do not recommend this business! read more

I started Pilates here at Pilates Seattle International in 2010, when I was 43. Within 4 or 5 months I was in the best shape of my whole life - no exaggeration. The best bikini bod I'd ever had. In 2012 I moved to the Bay Area. I've never been able to find a studio as good or teachers that come close to Lauren and Shirley and I've been to just about every studio between SF and San Jose. This is a classical studio, they apply the original Joseph Pilates style and they were trained by Romana, who was a student of Joseph's. It's effective and rigorous and safe for bodies that have issues (especially back, knee etc) I still do Pilates - pushing 49 and still in amazing shape. My teachers are always impressed by my excellent form. It's because I learned the fundamentals at Pilates Seattle and that's with me forever now! Honestly, Seattle is so lucky to have this studio. There isn't one like it anywhere! read more

I am biased to this studio as my wonderful sister used to work here for many years. She has moved on to bigger places, but I still think its a great place to go for pilates. The instructors are good but not overbearing. read more

They have a wide array of excellent teachers who know Pilates well and can tailor the classes to your individual needs for all fitness levels. They have a lovely dressing room with a shower, lockers with keys provided. Seattle is lucky to have this studio. read more

I have been doing physical therapy with Sachiko Glass for the past 3 months for a hip issue that was making my yoga practice impossible, as well as effecting how I sit at my desk job. I have learned so much from Sachiko in regards to how to correctly use my core muscles, and have become so much more aware of how I over-compensate with my hips. She has made a HUGE difference, and I am now back to being able to practice yoga, as well as have found a new excercise that I love: Pilates! Thanks, Sachiko! I began working with Emily at Pilates Seattle Int'l earlier in the year and am thrilled with the results. Like any workout, you get out of it what you put into it. Most days I like to work really hard; but every day is different, and some days - for whatever reason - I just cannot kick it into high gear. Emily is *ALWAYS* upbeat, very passionate about working with her clients, and incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive. She is not afraid to challenge me (believe me, I SWEAT!), but she also knows when to back off. She is always available to her clients. Quick to share a laugh or a funny story, but also quite professional, diligent with corrections and adamant about proper form. If something isn't quite working that day (pain or stiffness), she knows how to modify the posture to zero-in on the desired effects. I haven't worked with anyone else at the studio, but can attest to the variety of very talented instructors that they seem attract, particularly in the workshops that they hold throughout the year. Anyone who's interested in and serious about trying pilates for the first time, picking it back up, or taking it to the next level, I highly recommend giving them a call. read more
