I gave it 1 star but I have hopes that they will start running it like Jeff did when he was in charge. It took nearly three hours to get through the front nine because every group on the course seemed to be waiting on every hole. When we returned to the clubhouse, a staff member named Eric? blamed our group for the delays and even went as far to blame us for "three hours of tee times." We had a standard four golfers, and the groups in front of and behind us were also waiting throughout the round, so it was difficult to understand how the slowdown was being attributed to us. Once we went to go start hole 10, we were still having to wait so not sure how that explains us being at fault for the delays! I also left feeling uncomfortable because our group was the only Mexican family I noticed around us. While I can't say for certain why the delays were being blamed on us, it was hard not to question why our group was singled out when the entire course appeared to be backed up and other groups were experiencing the same waits. We paid for 18 holes but decided to leave after 11. After being spoken to in that manner, we no longer felt comfortable continuing our round. Regardless of any pace-of-play concerns, customers should be treated respectfully. Unfortunately, the interaction with staff completely changed the atmosphere of the day and left us with a negative impression of the course.

That being said, this is the slowest playing course in the greater Grand Rapids area. We were waiting 3 groups on a tee.There is a "starter" but he didn't really make sure groups played to pace. There were also crew driving around to check the pace but nothing changed. In 1 hour and 30 minutes we only played 3 holes. We ended up having to go to the clubhouse and getting a rain check. I don't recommend this course to people that like rhythm from tee to green. You will be waiting. We didn't know if this was a random thing but other groups behind us said "yeah, this is a normal thing here." If you're from the Grand Rapids area, play Glenkerry, Cedar Chase or Candlestone instead. Better pace of play. But if you don't have anything to do from sun up to sun down this is the place for you.

The weather was mid 60's which is not conducive to long ball flight additionally the course yardage on the scorecard was mathematically not long, so why did it play so difficult? Elevation changes are common, walking off yardage from the marker's is important to a player that desired it. I mis-clubbed all day and the dense air coupled with 6 beers the evening prior and I just could not score. The greens hold approach shouts quite well as they were damp, but not soggy. I could not wrap my mind around how lightning quick and how much subtle break were in all of my putts. I made one 8 footer all day-nothing outside of that and little inside of that. Its the shortest longest course I have ever played..

Greens are a little slower for the area but can be considered a nice calmer way of playing than usual. However the cart I was given had a defect whether it wasn't charged or it was a poor cart. Asked the manager for a new cart and instead of getting one the manager rode around in our cart and convinced us it was fine...it wasn't. Instead of a normal card speed of 12-15 mph it was around 5 the slow speed was a constant annoyance. I found it weird he didn't give us a new cart considering it wasn't busy. Other than that poor customer service the course it self was great. Would recommend to others but hopefully anyone who goes there gets a good cart because if you don't you can't switch for whatever reason.
