The Nurse call button system... hmm...Imagine needing a brief change but pressing the nurse call…read morebutton only works half the time? Mom's button is like that. I once taped the cable into the wall plug to provide a possibly better connection. A few days later I saw that my tape was removed. Fire hazard was their excuse. So it went back to working only 50% of the time. Now think about having to sleep in your own pee or BM because you can't get in touch with the "available" evening shift nurses to give you a change... The evening nurses even keep mom awake sometimes, because of their loud laughing and talking. She says it sounds like they're having a party or something. That makes it hard/impossible to get some sleep. Then Mom and I had an argument about going to their "morning exercise" to at least try to get some movement/exercise of her legs, feet, arms & hands. Not being self-motivated about doing it, we both got angry, then upset at each other ... During this argument, I left rather than escalating the situation. That made mom upset and sad. In pops SANDI from Ann Pearl's social services department. She was so anxious about hearing mom's story about what happened. SANDI was even more excited to alert mom's POA (her "daughter" who lives in Florida). In hindsight, Mom even admits she was an extremely bad choice to serve as POA. SANDI just made things worse. Now Mom's "daughter" has extra "ammunition" to use against me in court after mom passes. Rather than an even 50/50 split of mom's will, I'm being taken to court in an effort to acquire my 50% share, leaving me with nothing. This is the person who makes no effort to help or visit, and is waiting for that final day. But she's POA, while I'm walking there twice a day to visit mom and keep her spirits up. Thanks SANDI. So remember folks, don't consider this place as a potential retirement facility. Undependable nurses and dangerous social services to provide help. Crappy physical fitness and little to no effort in trying to rehabilitate the patients... I really hope my review really makes you forget about this place. Never mind about 1 Star... a ZERO STAR rating should be allowed... especially for places like this.

He had been through so many adversities, but always made it through like a trooper. Thanks to prayers, he has always got better and came home after rehabilitation. Just this time, he's weaker, older and probably can't be as independent as previous years. My dad was here several years ago for rehabilitation and felt comfortable here. I was so relieved he was here again at this facility. Sometimes beds were not available at the facility of your choice when leaving the hospital. It's an older 104 bed skilled nursing facility, but has a more of a homely feel. The workers and residents were really caring which was helpful for my dad in getting acclimated to a new home away from home. It was a convenient place for us, since it was closer to home with many free available parking. We were so grateful for in-person visits or window visits during the Covid Pandemic. Visitations were so important for our love ones to be able to see their families. Anyone would rather be at home with their love ones, but he knew my mom can't take care of him anymore especially if he can't walk much and he needs the help of a facility. He had no complaints but sometimes he felt like burden. The facility does their own laundry so it helped from having your clothing article lost. You can also take home the laundry and do it yourself. My dad always looked forward to his meals and they seemed to offer many variety of ethnic foods. I appreciate all the staff help, my dad's friendship with residents, activities like bingos, programs, karaoke & more. Good thing he loves to color pictures. Coloring has been keeping my dad going with a purpose. He seemed to be in good health and at the end of the 2021, thank you to Ann Pearl's staff for all you do for all your residents especially during this Covid pandemic! This is my 200th review on the last day of year 2021, I wanted to do a 5-star review on a business that I was grateful for and I chose Ann Pearl Rehab & Nursing! Thank you Ann Pearl! Thanks for reading my review! =)

The home is beautiful, peaceful, and welcoming, and the staff treats auntie with kindness, patience, professionalism, and genuine. It is such a relief to know she is safe, respected, and surrounded by people who truly look after her well-being. Each resident has their own room and bathroom. Which gives them comfort, privacy, and dignity. Our family is deeply grateful for the love, compassion, and support Kina Ole Estate has shown to my auntie and to all of us

There are so many options out there & finding a facility that is the right fit for your loved one is so important. Our family had to make that heart wrenching decision to place my dad in an assisted living facility & after looking at many options & visiting many facilities we first placed him in a large facility that was very nice, staff was nice & looked like it had all the bells & whistles...after about 4 weeks & many reasons later we knew that it was not a good fit for him & we needed to move him...he needed a smaller more home like atmosphere with more individual attention. A friend suggested Kina'Ole in Kaneohe & we arranged for a tour with the owner Beth. From the very moment we entered the beautiful gated property we knew this was the place for dad...it was exactly what we were looking for! The grounds are so beautiful & well taken care of...3 separate homes on the property with beautiful trees & flowers everywhere...nice paved walkways & even a few chickens running around with their baby chicks...my dad loved it!! We decided to place him there & it is the best decision ever!!! Dad's house has 8 rooms...each resident has their own large bedroom & private bathroom which we could decorate however we wanted too...so it could feel like home for him...theres a large living room/common area where the residents have their daily activities & delicious home cooked meals & where they can just relax together on their own recliners & watch a movie together & have a snack. There's lots of staff to help out & to care for dad & all the residents...the entire staff at Kina'Ole are amazing!!! They have made the transition so easy for dad & our family & to watch dad immediately feel welcomed, comfortable & relaxed there has been the best feeling in the world!! Dad loves to be outdoors & take walks & the staff will take him outside twice a day for a nice long walk or whenever he'd like one...they truly care for the residents as though they were their own family members! Dad told me that he "feels spoiled" there cause they all so attentive & take such good care of him! I almost cried hearing him say those words because I knew we had found the perfect place for him!!! He is thriving & happy & so are we!!! We now don't have the constant worry we had before...we know that everyone at Kina'Ole makes it their priority to care for dad's physical & emotional well-being...we finally have peace of mind The icing on the cake was last week I got a text message for Wehilani (head nurse in his house) & she sent me pics of dad out & about with his housemates enjoying the gorgeous grounds & having fun with his new friends. She shared with me how his week went...how well he's adjusting, how his appetite has been, how he's been sleeping (great) & just a report of his week Kina'Ole is a hidden gem & our family feels so blessed to now be part of their ohana!

On Christmas Day when I visited my brother who was under hospice care, I gave a $5,235 check dated Jan 1st for his month of January stay. Vivian knew my brother was on death's door the week after Xmas and expected to die any day before the New Year. When he passed away I sent a message to Vivian advising her in advance that I would cancel the check, with no reply from Vivian. But when I saw it had not been cashed in January, I withdrew money from the account. But unknown to me, she had already cashed his check on December 28th, even though it was dated 1/1/2023. Again, she knew my brother was dying and expected to die any day before the New Year, yet she stole the $5,235,00 from this decorated retired 20 year veteran. Beware! Nonetheless, the hired caregivers were remarkably capable and caring to patients. Too bad can't say the same for the owner.

That being said, I often noticed how short-staffed they were, and I truly felt sorry for the staff who were working so hard under those conditions. The real issue is with management, not the staff. The Director of Nursing never replied to emails or returned calls, and when I went in person, I found her sitting at her desk eating instead of being responsive. On the other hand, my favorite person to talk to was the ADON, Belle. She was always so nice, accommodating, and willing to help with any issues I had. She really stood out as someone who cared. Overall, the nurses and aides are the heart of this place, but management needs to do better -- especially in supporting the staff who are the ones truly caring for our family members.
