If you know me, you'll know there's one particular vendor I've had quite a few issues with and I was pleased to learn I would be working with a smaller, family owned vendor. LJ's Discount Medical is an Indiana owned family business located in Fort Wayne. They've been around for 13 years and specialize in both sales and rental of a variety of durable medical equipment. LJ's carries fairly well known brands - Golden Technologies lift chairs and scooters, Invacare hospital beds, Harmar lifts, Pride power chairs, and others. They will also work to repair and clean equipment. In my situation, they were able to get a fair price on a Ki Catalyst 5, a manual wheelchair. I was able to provide them with exact measurements from a similar chair I'd had, and the owner (obviously LJ) was able to get things ordered and delivered in a timely manner. While it's difficult to facilitate delivery/receipt of a wheelchair when the customer lives in Indy and it's February in Indiana, LJ's went above and beyond to make it happen and they communicated very well with me along the way. I now have a wheelchair that fits me, is safer, and meets my needs. I'm always a fan of using local. That can be difficult with durable medical equipment as there are a handful of major players. LJ's was a great discovery for me and I won't hesitate to return to them with future needs.

I called the South Bend store and was told I could get it fixed at either the South Bend or the Elkhart Store. I chose the Elkhart store because it was near my home. When I arrived, the representative straight from the door was busy eating. When I described the problem, her response was "It's supposed to do that". When I told her that was not true, she replied "we don't fix anything at this store". When I told her I was told by a representative at the South Bend store it could be taken care of at either store, she interrupted her lunch and took the walker to the back room. In less than a minute she returned and told me it cannot be repaired at Elkhart. I then left the store, angry. Fortunately, I found a screw in the back of my car. It must have fallen when the walker was placed in the car. I had the proper tools to fix it myself and did so. Problem solved! Will not go to the Elkhart store again nor recommend it to anyone.
