(1-7-2019) For the first time ever going to an African Braiding shop, I got my hair done into…read moresomething like microlocks, but really wanted dreadlocks. I did not know that in order to grow dreadlocks it was not supposed to be braided at the root, and then twisted at the ends. A woman name Cocoa asked me twice how I wanted my hair done. She did asked me if I would like it braided at the root and twisted at the ends, and I did agreed to have my hair that way. I did show Cocoa a YouTube video how I wanted my hair done before she ask me if I wanted my hair both braided and twisted too. Cocoa did a great job doing my hair the first time of me ever getting it done at a African Braiding shop. I called the shop on January 19 to talk about my hair possibly growing into dreads to the shop owner named Sara. I honestly admit that I was not very clear how I wanted it done, but I wanted micro dread locks. Sara told me to come back to the shop to get my hair done again on Martin Luther King day. When the phone was handed over to Cocoa, Cocoa went off on me. She was very nasty to me, and she was very unprofessional. Coca charge me $60.00 for dreadlocks and $10.00 to take out my hair, so that is 70.00 in total. While she was taking my hair out, I noticed she appeared to be very upset with me. It felt like Cocoa was using a lot of force on the comb used to take out my hair such as yanking and pulling motion. I noticed a lot of knotted up hairs all over the floor. She was doing a lot of ignoring me and not talking to me the whole time she worked on my hair. I noticed she had a very mean facial expression when I asked her to take a picture of my hair. The second time she told me "no"while walking away from me. I asked her for a business card on my way out the door, she did not give me one she mentioned that her husband is on his way to pick her up. Cocoa was closing up the shop for the night. Although Cocoa was complaining about my dreads being long dreads and my hair was a lot to take out; I already had planned to give her 80.00 instead of 70.00 way before I came back to the shop. I even apologized twice for the misunderstanding, but it did no good to even to apologize is what I noticed. When I attempted to apologize the second time she almost raised her voice at me as if she was irritated or angry. But did not know that I was about to apologize. By the way, she did a great job redoing my hair as well. As a matter of fact, the shop owner Sara have stated that the way my hair was done the first time would have grown into to dreadlocks that could be twisted.

The bed for lash service was "contoured/curved" and so comfy. I usually toss and turn during a long service, this was a very comfortable experience. The salon is also very spacious with dedicated rooms. You don't feel constrained. The service was really good. My aesthetician inquired about my preference of lashes - classic or hybrid and also level of desired fullness. The end results were amazing, so full and great quality. I can't speak for longevity yet but I have very good feeling. We also connected very well, she was very enthusiastic, energetic, and friendly. Just can't say enough good things! The only unexpected thing for me was no lash bath, I'll ask if they do it next time. I'm using to have lash baths as part of the service. It's just a personal preference really. I found that salon's availability is great. I was able to book the next service with no problem. It works very well for my schedule. Lastly, don't be intimidated by parking. Ask the salon about a discount code for parking for designated areas or find nearby lots. There's quite a few with the closest being across the street. I would highly recommend this salon for someone looking for relaxation, refined experience, and convenience. I look forward to trying other services at this salon.
