Despite my disappointment of the Fish & Chips I did absorb the Lunchtime vibe and the obvious popularity of this place which must be based on the overall satisfaction of its regular clientele. It has a fairly wide ranging menu and the selection of oysters available was excellent and my companion enjoyed her choice of the Raspberry Point. Understanding this is not a primarily a fish & chip establishment I did, based on my experience from the UK, probably set the bar too high or this was a one off scenario. The haddock had the texture of a pre-frozen product and the batter unappetizing, thick and greasy. The chips were likely refried, thin, small and pre-salted which a previous reviewer on Trip Advisor also noted. The Coleslaw was DOA.
Service was courteous and attentive although my dish took 20+ minutes to arrive but likely due to it being a busy time. I'm grading my dish 2 out of 5. However that being said I would and will likely return to sample another item. Reservations are recommended even at lunchtime to avoid sitting (comfortably) at the bar. read more
