We purchased a pool sweep over last summer and it worked great. This past mont it slowed down and just wasn't getting the job done. We went to the store and were given a new piece and information on how to improve the sweeping. That really didn't fix it so their technician came out and saw the issue, took the sweeper in and returned it after an adjustment and it works perfect. This store and manager are very professional and friendly. They go out of the way to assure that their products are the best. They never questioned our problem or put us off like a previous company had done. If you need supplies or product we feel you will get great service and what you need. read more

I've been dealing with this store for over 15 years but the relationship is done. I see from another post that the ownership recently change. I'm not impressed with the new management. Here's my story... I purchased a pool automation system from this store after the store manager came to my house to make sure the system was compatible with my existing equipment. The system was nothing out of the ordinary. It was a Hayward Omnilogic Pool Control system to match my Hayward variable speed pump. The Manager sold me the system (which was on sale) for just under $3100 plus installation which he quoted at $250. After a scheduling mishap and me making several calls to the store, the installation technician came to my house but left without installing the system. A couple of hours later the store manager called me and said that unfortunately, his technician didn't know how to install the system he sold me (which is prominently featured on Pinch a Penny's website). The manager offered me two options: 1. He found a subcontractor who would install this for $550 ($300 more than Pinch a Penny's quote) but it would be two weeks before he could do it. (My pool has been not running for over a week already). 2. I could return the equipment and be refunded. I told him neither are acceptable. He quoted me an installed price which I accepted in good faith and he shouldn't sell equipment that his technicians aren't capable of installing. Keep in mind, this is pretty basic equipment and integral to any pool. Who installs it, subcontractor or employee, shouldn't be my concern. He should honor his quote. He said he would speak with the owner to see what he could do. Well, he called me back after speaking with the owner. And the owner said no dice. He said he would not honor the quoted price. My only options are what the manager already gave me. So I am picking up the equipment and finding my own installation technician. I don't normally write negative reviews, only positive ones, but in this case I'm making an exception. This owner could have called me himself and apologized. He could have made some offer of good faith. There is a myriad of directions he could have taken to salvage this...but he didn't. I've been in business myself for many years and I can't fathom his logic in this situation. But I am done with this Pinch a Penny. read more

We have used them for about 6 months. I really like the people in the store but the pool tech was bad. It took us a while to catch him at his work because he never spent more than 30 seconds at our pool. Finally, on two occasions we were able to watch him skim the surface for 30 seconds and then go sit in his truck for 5 minutes before leaving. No brushing, no check of chemicals. No vacuum. We complained to the store but the next time he came out, it was the exact same thing. read more

The manager and staff in this store are amazing. I came in with a tube for an chlorinator and a photo. They quickly got me the correct tube and spring, told me not to spend money on new end pieces and once they showed me how to install it, I was in business! I can't say enough nice things about them - super helpful and friendly. Absolutely anytime I need anything chlorinator related, this will be my first and only store I'll go to. read more

Just not real happy with the service they have provided. I have tried to stay with them but just way to many problems. My pool has been clean right just a few times in the years we have used them. This location is great. I've switched to this one because all of the employees I've dealt with have been extremely helpful. If there's a sale and you forget your coupon they'll scan one they have at the register without you having to ask. They never try to oversell anything either. This is why I love this location. My family has used this company for pool maintenance service for the last 2 years. The service was not consistent and providing constructive feedback or getting answers to questions ignored. Always followed their advice for purchasing supplies, but within the last year the attitude of staff and quality of work diminished sigificantly (e.g., leaving chlorine tabs out open in lanai, poor maintance, and the most recent visit the screen door opened and propped and all the cleaner hoses disconnected and left on cement. No reciept to confirm they had visited. This action of removung hoses made cleaner stuck in one spot. No note no call no acknowledged -my wife called me and when i returned from busimess trip had to get replacement hoses in the evening. Not an issue if informed that parts need to be replaced not just pulled out and left on ground. We have always felt to have success should be able to communicate constructive and positive feedback. Especially to service staff coming in our property. Our family put effort into appreciating the work of tech staff by providing notes of appreciation, gift cards and tips to staff who took pride in their work. If the management feels this is too intrusive and doesn't feel obligated to address concerns without becoming defensive then this is not a company we want to partner with.
