The amount of dirt they removed to get the forms laid and ready should have taken days if not weeks alone. We were very happy with the process, price, and final project. However, the main reason I will not work with this company is the significant and multilayered ongoing disrespect for my family's time and needs I experienced in the inspection process. I was originally scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. appointment on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. I had no text, calls, or people at my door by 2:00 p.m. I tried calling the number in the emails I had received: after going through several bots, I reached a kind woman in Texas who said I would get a call back in an hour. By 3:30 p.m., no one had called me. I found a number for Minnesota. I reached a helpful human named Kate. At 4:00 p.m., three hours after my appointment, I received a call from regional assistant sales manager Jim Graff, who made an appointment for 9:00 a.m. the next day. We once again re-arranged our holiday schedule for this inspection. Though very nice, Jim Graff was at our home for three and a half hours--he left just before 12:30. The original appointment was for two hours, and I was not informed I had to reserve half of my day for this inspection. In fact, his own phone listed the appointment as ending at 11:30. Ultimately, we sacrificed an entire day during a holiday weekend for this estimate. Though I was grateful for Jim's attempt to salvage the situation, his utter lack of acknowledgement of my time was disconcerting. He insisted on plodding through his sales pitch despite my pleas that I had carefully read the website the day before. His sales pitch was geared toward scaring me--"Didn't you hear the beeps?"--rather than providing specialized information that was focused toward my particular situation and budget. He seemed unable to adapt to my requests. His diagrams were impressive and I appreciated his clear explanations of the system, but this could have been streamlined into 30-40 minutes. I was grateful that he was willing to wear a face mask for my family's health needs, but he did not bring inside shoes, take off his shoes, or offer to wear booties, even when I indicated that we did not wear shoes in the house. This small act added insult to injury: I had already spent a day's worth of time getting this bid, and I now had to vacuum for an hour in my son's basement living space. Ultimately, Groundworks sent me a sales person, not a contractor. The sales person had two weeks of training in the system. His expertise was selling the system, not assessing and installing. His moisture meters made little sense and seemed to be a technological gimmick rather than factual data: they had their highest readings in the damp laundry room and bathroom on a very humid day. There was no clear evidence they were measuring dampness in the wall. In addition, I was pressured into signing at that time, which I was very clear would not happen, since I needed to speak to our contractor. Though the product seems very good, I don't recommend Ground works. The no-show inspector, the use of Bots to make it hard to reach humans on the phone, and the lack of my ability to speak to someone technically skilled who could tailor the product to our needs and budget while being respectful of our time made them a no-go. My next bid will be from a neighborhood guy who knows our geography, does the work himself, and promises a no-pressure inspection. Groundworks is simply too big and has ironically separated the customers from people whose expertise is--groundwork.
