They took great care of my senior cat, and they were very thorough. My younger cat will be seeing them in a couple weeks.

I should have done a review a long time ago but this has been my vet since 2019 and I absolutely love them. I have 3 cats, 2 who are special needs and they have helped them so much. They were both misdiagnosed at their previous vet and have thrived from the care at Pine Creek. I also find their prices quite affordable for how often I'm in there but more than that I feel like they love my pets as much as I do and they're in good hands. I recently did a dental procedure on my cat who also has a heart condition. To say I was nervous was an understatement but they answered all my questions about medications and his heart and I felt completely safe taking him in. During the procedure, they kept me updated on his progress and their findings and he did great, healed up quickly and is just fine now. I think the best thing is that they are open Monday-Saturday 8-6pm because it gives me peace of mind. One of the biggest downsides to living in this area is not having a 24 hour ER vet nearby but knowing my vet is open until 6 even on Saturdays eases my mind a little bit. I actually found Pine Creek because I was watching my parent's dog years ago and something happened but the vet she went to was closing at 5 and wouldn't see her even though it was only 4:45pm. They told me Pine Creek was open until 6pm and when I called they got her right in and we were there until around 8pm. Not only did they help her for what I brought her in for but they told me about a new drug on the market for arthritis in dogs that my parents ended up trying and it seemed to really help her in her last few years. This place came highly recommended. However, I'm not that impressed. First, I brought in a cat that was very ill, and unfortunately he had to be put to sleep. I requested that they take ink imprints of his paws ( for a memorial tattoo later). We even made a big deal about making sure to make them look good since they'd be made into a tattoo. Picked up Buddy's ashes today- no paw prints. Thanks for that. Last week I brought in a different cat who ended up needing blood work and an ultrasound. Vet forgot to tell me that I needed to make sure the cat didn't eat the day before the ultrasound ( luckily one of the vet techs/front desk staff called to let me know). When I dropped off my cat, I was charged a boarding fee, and charged for services I didn't approve or even know about. Luckily one of the vet techs went over the bill with me and neither of us could figure out why I was charged a boarding fee for dropping the cat off in the morning and picking her up at the end of the day, or why I wasn't consulted about the extra procedure. I would have definitely approved it as it was health related. But a heads up would have been nice. I'm having a hard time with the lack of communication and ultimate dropping of the ball. Make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing and double and triple check your bills. read more

I have no words for their compassion and quality care. I am no rookie in being a pet parent and Pine Creek always has my back from every emergency down to the smallest wellness check. Here's just one example of how I've been treated over the past ten years as a client. Today....November 27th my dog (Doc) was unresponsive while we were driving to go out for his daily walk/adventure. He was unresponsive for about 5-8 min counting the drive over to the clinic. Christine ( front desk manager) and Amber (vet tech) rushed out and met me in the parking lot when I arrived to help me. (What a relief) I was an emotional mess. I want to thank everyone there today who was concerned or took care of my 17 year old Border Collie Doc. Even after 10 years of being a client (with all my animals) I continue to be blown away by the exceptional care and compassion from all of the staff. I only work with the BEST as I've experienced the worst and everything in between when it comes to veterinary care. On March 31, our senior boxer had a horrendous night. By morning I knew she was going to go to the rainbow bridge. She was in so much pain. I called Brunswick at 8 am since I was a client. Their response was " we can fit her in at 2:30 pm. I told them how much pain she was in and it was needed now. Their response was "that's the best we can do". I then called Pine Creek. After checking that a vet was available, they said " bring her right in". They assured us they would never have turned away any pet needing help like that. This was the perfect response that I expected from my vet. They gave me an option to pay later and we're very compassionate with our dog. When her ashes came back, Pine creek had upgraded me to a beautiful urn at no additional cost. I fired Brunswick and took my business to Pine Creek. They prioritize pets above all else. I recently came here for a check up and re up on my dogs vaccines. After the normal check up was done and vaccines were given they ran a heart worm test before we left. She came in to tell us that our dog was positive for heart worms, to our shock we believed it and went through the starting process of how to treat our dogs heart worms. (Mind you, she even told us there was no traces of it in her bloodstream) But before we started treatment, which they were trying to charge us $1600 to do, we asked that they take a second test and send it off to the lab for a reassurance that our dog did in fact have heart worm. So they took a sample, and sent off a test and said I would hear back in 3-5 business days. I didn't hear back from them at all, until 2 weeks went by I called, and was told, "oh geez, I'm not sure how the email got pushed to the side, but the test came back negative". At first I was excited to hear this news, but she then started to go off and say that test result is wrong (in her opinion) , and they would like to run a THIRD in house test. To which I said we would have to think about it. Not sure how an in house test comes back positive, then a more in depth LAB TEST comes back negative and they tell me it's wrong and want to run a third test. So at this point I feel like they were trying to scalp me for my money, so I took my dog to another vet (Brighton) to which they did a new patient exam, and sent off a 24 lab test for heartworm, which came back negative. I honestly just feel disrespected by the nurses at Pine Creek, I feel like the fact that my dog happens to be a frenchie and they know they're "big money" dogs that they would try and scalp me for any money I had. I will NEVER be returning to this vet, or recommending this vet to anyone in the area. * I guess my $1600 could have helped spruce up that run down shit hole of an establishment anyways. read more

I have dealt with several local vets, and last resort had to go to Loomis. Now I have found Pine creek and they are wonderful.

My experience was terrible! I took my dog here as a last resort because my primary veterinary clinic couldn't get us in until the end of the month. So I called this vet and they were able to get me in at the end of the week which is what I wanted. My dog had been limping for a little while so I wanted to see what was wrong because my dog is very clumsy..he's sprained his leg many times and I thought that's what he did this time as well. We get to the clinic and get checked in and go to our room and when the vet comes in, WITHOUT even physically touching him other than to listen to his heart she tell me there's two things that could be wrong with him, the worst case is it's most likely bone cancer, and the second he hurt himself but that's less likely..even though I explained that he started limping AFTER playing with my cousins dog..she said that because of where the injury is and where he has a small bump that it is bone cancer because she just diagnosed bone cancer in another patients dog a few days beforehand! And then said to be sure it's bone cancer we'd need to X-ray him..so I decided okay I guess I'll schedule the x-ray, they quoted me $365 and I said okay I can make that work and then they call me back and say that the vet is happy to see him again but wants to warn me that if my dog doesn't cooperate that they would need to sedate him and that's an additional $150, just so they aren't blindsiding me..and I said I couldn't afford that right now and asked if he could go ahead without the sedation and she said no and then I asked if a blood test would determine any answers and she responds with "in a perfect world yes, but in this case no" So instead of seeing this vet clinic again, I have decided to take my business back to my old vet in another county to get the answers I'm looking for and to actually help my poor baby boy. I felt it was unprofessional to throw out the cancer word without even properly examining him...and to top that off my dog hasn't shown ANY signs of bone cancer other than the slight swelling and limping..he's a very energetic, playful, happy boy and has remained as such while he's been hurt! I never want to go to this veterinary clinic again and hope that other people don't get the same experience as I've had. read more

I went here a year ago based on excellent reviews, however the old vet retired and sold the practice to a woman vet. I took my dog there and waited an hour or so beyond the appointed time before we were seen citing an emergencey. I understood and stayed. A year later I go to schedule my dogs annual check up and found their phone system a mess unable to take messages, the practice down to 4 days a week, and their website a mess, I managed to set an appointment anyway. Today I take my dog in for the appointment being sure to arrive 15 min early. After waiting 15 min after the appointed time I gaveup and left to find another vet who can run a practice professionally. read more

My best kitty started having strange symptoms. He was losing weight. His fur was matted up on his haunches. The fur on his back was a weird texture, kind of greasy and stringy. He was acting achy and arthritic. He had lost his sparkle. Concerned, I took him to my regular vet. He tried, but after exams and lab work, no problems were discovered. Knowing that my kitty was not feeling well, I persisted. I called friends and got recommendations. My friend Mel suggested Pine Creek. The staff was very kind. They treated my kitty with kindness and made him feel at ease (very unusual for him to chill during a visit to the vet). Dr. Nolet was attentive and carefully considered all of my concerns. He gave me an initial recommendation for treatment and follow up options if needed. Turned out, all my kitty needed was a change in diet. He's been on Hills Science Diet dry food for years, the W/D formula, but the doctor recommended wet food. That's all it took. Within a couple of weeks, he started to improve. His coat has grown back rabbit-soft and full. No more matted haunches. No more aches and pains. Who knew? Dr. Nolet, that's who! These people were so kind and helpful on one of the worst days of my life. We took our old dog camping with us near Downieville, CA during a birthday trip for me. We knew it was going to be his last trip, and being outside near the water and the woods was his favorite thing in the world. Sadly, on my actual birthday, he was so sick that he couldn't stand and could barely move. He was obviously in a great deal of distress. We called Pine Creek and explained the situation to them, and they were very sympathetic, and got us in as early as they could. During the entire process, they did everything they could to make sure that both we and my dog were comfortable. They explained the process to us in a way that made us understand the science behind it, but also felt warm, and expressed that they really did care and were genuinely sorry about our impending loss. Today, 5 days after he passed in their office, we received a hand-written card expressing their sympathies and letting us know that it was the right time for him, and that we made the right choice. We knew this anyway, but it was good to hear it from a professional. Sadly, I'm not in a position to make these people my regular vets, as we're about a 3 hour drive away from them, but their kindness and sympathy would have earned our loyalty without question or doubt. read more

Had a mixed experience here as a new client. The pros - they had an appointment soon, the staff was great and I liked Dr. Dayna. I appreciated the time she took and how she prioritized my older dog's health issues and explained them to me. The cons happened a couple weeks later when my dog suddenly had new and very concerning tremors. I tried to get in touch with the doctor by phone and email and she was incredibly unresponsive. I had to call several times to get a call back. I went to the clinic to get a heartworm test and I said we could just make an appointment and the staff said that wasn't necessary, they'd put in an urgent note for her to call me. We played phone tag so I emailed to the address she left on her message. There was no response for a week and I wrote again, and she told me she'd never received the email, so I replied to her email, saying if we need to make an appointment that's fine. I sent a second email with a video of these new tremors he's having but 11 days later there's no response. Also, his heartworm test was over two weeks ago and I haven't heard back about the results. In general I wish I could recommend this place but I need to feel like the vet I depend on for my dog's well-being is more responsive. It's been very stressful to have my dog's situation decline and have to wait longer to get in to see a different vet. read more

Pine Creek Veterinary saw our dog on short notice when I was having trouble getting a same day appointment from our regular vet hospital which has recently changed hands (again). When I called Pine Creek, the phone was answered right away. I was not put on hold for ten or fifteen minutes which seems to be the new norm with the regular vet. The staff were concerned and attentive and worked us in. Because we did not have a scheduled appointment there was a flat fee, but it was half the amount our regular vet was going to charge, and we did not have to pre-pay which, after more than twenty years of loyal patronage and many, many thousands of dollars, we find offensive. Dr. Nolet came out to the car, gently and thoroughly examined our elderly dog, determined it was not an emergency situation as we had feared and sent us home to see if the situation resolves itself in a few days. Should it not, he assured us he would see us right away giving great peace of mind. I am having our records from our old vet hospital transferred to Pine Creek. read more

Most of the staff is very friendly, but a few times I have called there has been this one girl who was extremely rude. I just don't understand how front desk people can be rude, it's your job to reprehensible company. Anyways they always come out to get my dog 15-45 minutes after my appointment time even when there's two cars in the lot. I kindly suggested that they don't schedule appointments if they can't get pets in at least 20 after appt time. I tried explaining I have other appointments and things I can't miss in my day bc of them and the gentleman on the phone was extremely short and rude which was frustrating. read more

I was just visiting in Grass Valley with my 14 yr old black lab /Airedale when he developed a draining sore in his face. This had happened before and we had been told that he had a bone chip from a fall over 3 yrs ago. Found out from the very kind vet here that it was a tooth access causing it. Short version had 4 teeth removed and he is feeling so much better. Very sensitive to cost and I was consulted the whole way through, even during his surgery. Very impressed with the kindness by the staff to my dog but the obvious heart and love of animals by the animals that have been taken in and live at the clinic! I took my German shepherd there for several years and I feel he received the best of care. He eventually acquired a disability much like Lou Gehrig's disease in humans and had to be euthanized. Dr. Nolet came to the car and my husband sat with the dog while I sat inside bawling my eyes out with an empathetic lady vet. My dog received the most compassionate and intelligent care. I'm sorry, but I'm not returning after first (and last!) visit to this clinic! I am writing this review on behalf of my friend, who is too traumatized by her experience with Pine creek. I came with my friend and her two year old pit bull who wasn't eating, was vomiting bile and had a bad cough. They were very helpful at first, but after they took some chest x rays, they noticed a large rock right away. We were told that some dogs, like this one, develop a disorder known as Pica Pica is where animals eat rocks, dirt, paper. And other organic material they wouldn't normally eat. The lady, who was was some assistant, or a veterinarian gave us two options: 1. Pay around $5,000 to $6,000 for surgery to remove the rock and have him suffer in pain ( these are her words), or 2. Quietly and painlessly put the dog to sleep by injection. My friends mother was the one paying so she didn't want to spend money on a surgery that wouldn't have made the dog any better, so she asked a simple, innocent question : " Can I just take him back home and call a holistic vet to put him down at home later today?" The lady then told us she won't allow the dog to leave and suffer because it's the "law" and she'll call the police if we try to leave with him." Long story short- we ended up putting him down at the clinic on a cold, sterile, metal table resulting in that being our memory with the dog. Thanks, Pine Creek, I'm not going back nor am I going to recommend you to anyone! Sorry, but there is no law and whoever that lady was- you should get your act together before karma turns around on you one day. read more

It is inconceivable to me that anyone would publish such a negative report on one of Nevada County's most professional and caring vet clinics! My animals have been "clients" there for several years, and have received the very best in state-of-the-art veterinarian care. Just as important to me, the doctors and staff truly love animals, and this shows in the way my pets respond to them! I have taken my cats to Dr. Nolet for several years for everything from immunizations, to bladder infections, to treatment of wounds resulting from fights with other cats. My cats have always received the best of care. The prices charged by Pine Creek are competitive or I would have gone elsewhere. I care about my animals very much and I would not take them to a vet who I didn't feel was the very best around. I loved taking my dog into this vets office. The staff was always very caring and helpful when he would get sick or just need a check-up. They took the time to involve a specialist when he was experiencing a rare bone inflammation problem. We are moving out of the area and had to switch vets because of it. Both ladies doted on my puppy and expressed numerous times how wonderful my puppy is. This is by far the best bet I've ever experienced in my life my dog is old and was ran over by car and in bad shape to the point where I didn't know if I had to put him down or not I called everywhere trying to get him into a veterinarian be I'm fairly new to the area no one would take him not even emergency vet said they were two weeks out I call Pine Creek and told him the situation the doctor told me to bring him in immediately which I did I brought him to the door and they took him as I sat in the parking lot wondering if my little friend would make it or not. I have had really bad luck with veterinarians in past so I'm skeptical when the nurse came out she told me exactly what I needed to hear the truth should not worry about money let's just worry about your dog that was music to my ears because at the time I have almost $200 in my pocket. When the doctor came out he told me what they're going to do and they keep him overnight to call in the morning I thought for sure my bill was going to be like all the others I called in to check status and the doctor told me the news which was my little buddy was not goot going to pass today.
