There is not much at this park. There is a little paved walkway, a few gazebos, and the children's playground. Still, it is not a bad place if you are in the neighborhood to come and chill for a bit. I would not go out of my way to come to this park, but all in all, it was not bad. Overall, I will give Lovelace Park three stars.

There are light poles every ~100 feet so it's well lit at night. The park is full of tall trees and along the wall of trees there are a few "off the beaten path" entrances that lead into the forest behind it. A few minutes through the forest leads to a small river. If you look to the far right, you see houses from the neighborhood next door. But to the far left, there is a bridge that leads you to a second forest area. We didn't go too far into this area because we forgot bug spray. The forest is pretty and shaded with all the trees. However, there is a lot of litter which is unfortunate.

Which sounds great, but the amount of trash and loitering definitely made it seem like this park gets a little strange at night. One of the restroom towards the back had a truck camped close to it. As if they were living there. The restroom near the front entrance just looks sketchy in general plus people under the pavilion side eyeing me, along with all the parked vehicle activity made it even more sketchy. I wouldn't recommend coming here at night. Unless you want to get strange.

Hogans Creek flows through the park and connects it to what will hopefully be Jacksonville's "Central Park" one day. Named for architect Henry John Klutho - a man that left his mark on Jacksonville - the park is a reminder & a vision for better times in this neighborhood. They've recently added a sculpture walkway as you enter the park - curated by a UNF sculpture professor and featuring some Jacksonville artists!

It also has a kids playground and a little climbing wall. I also really like the water fountain that is in the middle of this park. They have benches throughout and a few pavilions for anyone that just wants to chill for a bit. They also have a little grill if someone is so inclined to do a bit of grilling. I am glad that I stumbled across this little park in the middle of nowhere. I guess more appropriately, in the middle of a residential neighborhood. You won't see this park driving down a main road. Which is a shame for those travelers. However, I am sure that this little community likes to keep this little secret to themselves. When I was there on an early Tuesday afternoon, the park had a nice cross section of different ages just enjoying the park. There were young parents pushing their kids in the children's play area on the swings and they were older people just chilling on the benches enjoying a nice Tuesday afternoon. We also had a few people and either their thirtiess or firties taking advantage of the walking park. I enjoyed my time in this little hidden gem. I will give it five stars overall.

We were able to find one parking spot, as the lot was filled with cars. It appeared that a lot of people bring their children here after school. There were pavilions with picnic benches, a playground, walking trails, and workout stations. We took a walk around the park checking out the small garden and the workout stations before coming to the playground. My husband was able to sit with our dog while I played with our son on the playground. There are swings, slides, ride ons, monkey bars, and more. We played for about 30-40 minutes before leaving. It was a nice park to visit and tucked away from the busyness of San Jose.

This community park is free and offers bathrooms, playground, baseball, basketball, tennis, dog…read moreparks (basically just fenced run areas) and a splash pad. They have fit a lot into the space, and the large dog area allows quite a bit of open space. Unfortunately it was unmaintained and the overgrown grass is a haven for ticks, ants, and God knows what else. We saw teams playing baseball, a group of kids playing basketball, kids and their dad doing tennis drills, and kids at the splash pad and playground. The dog park areas were empty and we explored, but not for long because it was unwelcoming with the uncut grass. The parking lot was filled with litter and there was a bit of an unsafe feeling all around. Though people were there for recreation, all the parents were on edge, and just wary. I'm not from Jax so idk the safety of this area, just googled a free splash pad for my kid. It did the job, and was safe enough, but it wasn't a place we felt comfortable to stay for long.

My daughter was quite bewildered that little Riley will climb and go down the small slide all by himself! Very proud of himself, he exclaims "COOL!" when he gets down at the bottom of the slide. He also loves the musical play items and LOVES the seesaw! Especially when I jump on with him. Last time the kids visited, we took them with us and the whole family enjoyed watching Riley run around like he owned the park!

This is a decent little park on Jacksonville's west side that is mainly used for baseball. It gets…read morethree stars because it seems like it's mostly an afterthought. The park is leased to some baseball group and they are supposed to maintain it but they don't really maintain it correctly they like to lock up the dugouts and try to lock down the baseball field so people can't use it whenever they want to. This of course is impermissible by the rules of their lease and the city park rules but nobody seems to care. Several of the fields are not currently in use for baseball and one of them is often used by residents including myself to run their dogs there is very frequently a police officer parked here which makes it pretty safe I have never seen anything questionable The little kids park area is OK but nothing to really make as a destination. One good thing to note, the bathrooms are open 24 hours a day although they aren't the cleanest they are useful in an emergency.

This is a beautiful and quiet piece of country right in the middle of the big city. The reason this place does not get five stars is because there has been a few crimes take place out here in the past. It is open from dusk to dawn. If you are fishing, make sure you have your fishing license with you. They do come out and check from time to time. I have been coming here all of my life and I love this place!
