I had an appointment at 7am Monday morning. No one showed up or called and I waited on the beach for 30 minutes. The owner did not return my texts until 2 hours later. I also called him 3 times while waiting on the beach for someone to show. When I demanded a refund I was threatened by the owner and told to f--k off. I have screenshots but Yelp does not allow me to post them. I text the owner to calm down and take a few hours to cool off, later in the day he should apologize for threatening a client. Rather, he took the time to call me on the telephone immediately cursing and threatening to hurt me. I see he has a lot of good reviews but as a family and religious man, I would not allow my family or friends, especially children, around anyone this manic. read more

Wonderful experience!! Showed up at 9am with 10 students who wanted to surf, but didn't know that the surf only goes off in the winter. They called our PR guide to let him know that the water was as flat as a pancake. Plan B was in place by the time we walked up. 8 of us snorkeled and 2 kayaked. Mateo took our group out on a guided snorkel in the marine protected area. We got back on time so we could catch our flight and even had complimentary coconuts which the students loved! For those of you interested in learning how to surf while in PR, I suggest going to Hector. He is hands down the best instructor. He not only teaches you about the currents/waves so that you can have a strong foundation but he is also there every step of the way. I had such a great time learning from him and on my last day he took me to La Silva a beautiful secluded beach with the rainforest as the backdrop. It was really a unique experience. We hiked down with surf boards about a 1.5 mile walk through beautiful greenery and ended up at this beautiful beach with perfect size waves and crystal clear water! To end every surf session on a cool note, Hector always had fresh coconuts at hand! Hector is the best. read more

I had such a wonderful time with Hector and Pine Grove Surf Club! I didn't plan in advance and booked a paddle boarding class the night before the activity. Hector texted me the next morning, he was very flexible and patient. I ended up doing both paddle boarding and surfing class in one afternoon. Hector took me to this beautiful mangrove that's a true hidden gem. It was beautiful, tranquil and peaceful. After paddle boarding, we stopped for smoothie and some snacks (I really can't remember their names but they are local and yummy!) Given my great time with paddle boarding, I asked Hector to give me a private surfing class. Even though the waves were a bit small in the late afternoon, Hector was patient, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable. All of this for a super reasonable price! To make it even better, Hector is a really good photographer and took great photos of me throughout the day. My husband and two boys ages 15 and 21 booked snorkeling with Hector today. Hector picked us up from our hotel, La Concha Marriott, and drove us to the beach where they work from. They supplied us with the equipment and showed us how to snorkel properly. I held on to the end of a boogie board while Hectors brother guided me over the reef. I kicked my fins to help him but I wasn't tired at all. The coral reef was beautiful. I have never seen such large coral and the fish weren't huge but there were many. Hectors brother picked up sea cucumber, urchins and this other creepy crawly thing for me to hold. When we finished snorkeling we were treated to a cold coconut which was a first for all of us. Then we showered and he took us back to our hotel. But first he took a side tour and showed us the beach town where he grew up. We also stopped at a roadside stand and he treated us to fresh fruit smoothies and a fried crab dish. This was authentic and this area was not touristy. It was awesome. If we are ever in Puerto Rico we will visit Pine Grove Surfing Club again!! read more

Yikes! We booked a snorkeling trip with them weeks in advance. They texted us the morning of the trip to come at an earlier time. Fine, we agreed. Then they asked us to call the guide to arrange meeting at the new time. Huh? We called, the guide didn't answer. Then when we showed up they asked us to take a cab to a different location if we wanted to go out, no offer to reimburse us for the extra $40 it would take. They were surprised when we said no. These guys are small, local, good and fairly priced! Went stand up paddle boarding and surfing with them, they took photos of us so we didn't even need to worry about that, and after the activities were over, they treated us to local delicacies. They said they do night luminescent bay tours too *during full moon* and I'm sad that we were not there @ that time because I would choose them over the overly expensive big tour companies any day! Obviously hector is the guy you will be dealing with - he is professional and friendly, even invited us to BBQ after, I wish more options like this existed for tourists. Completely recommend! Hector makes the experience one of a kind. Did the paddleboarding tour in the mangroves of Piñones and it was unforgettable. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was patient in teaching me how to paddleboard as it was my first time. He stopped for an amazing smoothie on the way back from a kiosk, even took pictures for me and all around provided a fun atmosphere. My friend and I went on a paddle boarding tour on a July 1st. Hector picked us up at the hotel and we went to the mangroves. It was so much fun!! We saw crabs and iguanas, took tons of pictures, he even managed to make my scared friend attempt to stand on the board! Hector and Ebaldo are the best. And I mean the best in my world travels. We booked a snorkel adventure with them that changed multiple times for various reasons. The were 100% flexible, patient, happy, positive, knowledgable and full of energy. After our initial contact by phone, they were very accessible via text. They were very clear about every aspect of the trip and went out of there way to help us. Originally, there were only 3 of my family going, but they accommodated 6 of us. 5 kids. On a busy holiday weekend, they got us away from the crowd to the beauty of Escambron Beach Reef. They helped the kids get out to the reef against the current. They really worked hard and always had smiles on there faces. My nieces commented on how nice and respectful they were to everyone. My nephews loved all the creatures they encountered. They taught the kids some oceanography and marine biology as well. I was happy with how easy they made it for me with 5 kids and i had fun too. Treating my family great goes a long way with me. They had fresh fruit for all of us at the end. Hector took pictures on his go pro for us and sent them to me via email. I cannot say enough about Pine Grove Surf Club, Hector and Ebaldo. If you're in Puerto Rico and want to experience a wonderful snorkeling session you definitely should go to Pine Grove!!! Hector was a wonderful instructor and I would definitely go back to him when I visit Puerto Rico again ! It was so much fun because hector would let us touch the fishes and creatures that were in the water!! I saw sea lions, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, even DORY !! Haha but it was so much fun and they were so patient with everyone in my group, we had a group of 14 and he took his time with everyone to make sure that they were comfortable enough to go to the reefs in the deep sea and I couldn't thank him enough for giving everyone such a memorable experience in Puerto Rico !!! Thank you so much Hector !!! BTW we get a free coconut in the end and that's a plus especially after being in that salt water for hours !
