It's in a…read moregreat location, just about a 15 minute walk (partially along the forest path near the River Cam) south of the city center, which also makes it more convenient to walk to Grantchester village if you want to visit the Orchard Tea Gardens (which you should do!). If you are arriving at the Cambridge train station a cab is only about £6 as of 2014 if you don't want to drag your luggage through the forest, which we found out the hard way. Jonathan is a very kind and helpful host, and everything is chosen with great care, from the modern yet functional fixtures, to the clean and unusually large beds compared to other beds we encountered in the UK, to the beautifully handpicked furniture. Jonathan also buys groceries early every morning, so the fresh fruit and local sausage and bacon he serves are outstanding. He also makes perfectly cooked eggs, as well as delicious homemade fruit smoothies! I would definitely stay here again.

As it is not possible to book in advance i have often found it a good idea to try and arrive early or with time to spare before you wish to eat. As soon as you arrive you cant help but notice the welcoming atmophere of the place, which is i guess what brought us back after the first visit. The choice of food is enough to give you a headache narrowing down what you are going to order now and what you will leave and have next time! I have not anything but totally satisfied with the food to date and hope this continues for some time....

The owners Ian and Helen are really…read morefriendly and welcoming - they were very flexible about check in times and were happy to recommend hairdressers and places to eat etc. Ian is also a licensed taxi driver. The guesthouse is quite easy to find and in a convenient location close to Dunmow High Street. There is a pub with a good Indian restaurant just opposite. The upstairs rooms are a bit more modern with nicer decor and better showers, but they are all very comfortable. There's also a lounge for the guests to use. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area, or if I needed to stay close to Stansted before a flight etc.
